  1. Greetings. This is a link to what i have called "The Astral Journals of Dr. Demoriel"
The purpose was to travel around Paragon City's different zones, and recount the history of each, and it's unknown occult/magical battles or hidden treasures i have seen over the years.

Here is the link and what was written a few years ago.

    http://drdemoriel.blogspot.com/

I hope it will entertain and enlighten

    Sincerely,

    Dr. Demoriel
  2. I created a 4 part AE mission with an Occult/Magical theme. First part is help the Midnighter's Club against a break-in (very short map) and the last map is also very short. I created alot of custom Characters and Ghosts who haunt underneath Moth Cemetery.

AE mission #499837 suitable for Heroes, especially ones with a magical or Occult background!

    Thanks!

    I have more as well

"Dr. Morbius and Asylum 13" #500066 (2 parts)

"The Circus Of Evil" #500720 (all custom Circus Characters!) only 1 map in length.

"The Mistresses Of Evil" # 500509 (all custom Characters!) 3 maps, 2 are very small.
  3. I think it's funny that because my views of the game, don't mesh with yours, that i must be lying when i say i have played the game for 5 years. You want me to take a screen shot of my Veteran rewards? Am i as "in touch" with the current state of the game, as someone who has posted on here 1000+ times, and keeps abreast of every game development post as obviously you do? No. I play the game, and have been playing the game for years. Everyone has the right to express their views on the game, i've expressed mine, you don't agree with it? So what. I've played this game as long as you have, and think the game needs to develop more content for yours and mine dollars. I never said the game needed to be perfect, and in fact the answer "OMG you mean the game is not perfect?" has probably been used many times, by many devotees on these forums, who feel anger when anyone has the nerve to point out some of the games short comings. Like i said, So many great ideas and suggestions here will sadly, never see publication, maybe in the end, it is a matter of resources, or picking and choosing which small amount they can implement. City of is a good game, and i hope it long lived.
  4. Simply because i have not posted here on a weekly or daily basis, doesn't mean, i have not been playing the game. I have been playing the game almost daily for 5 years. I think you are simply trying to figure out my adjenda, and it really pisses you off that i have been playing this game, and on these forums longer than most of you, and your knee-jerk response is to try and discount any validity of my criticism. My criticism of the game, and improved game suggestions have been made simple, and clear. I'm not looking to earn any "Blind Devotion" badge.

Improvements to the game need to keep pace with player expectations. "City Of" has done some great work with some aspects of the game (crafting, AE, Game stability, AT diversity, etc.), and fallen short on others (level cap,SG base content, Cathedral of pain, debt in PVP zones to name a few)

You might think that creating new faces and badges takes months of work by a large team of artists and developers, but believe me, it merely takes a few hours (i work in the industry)

    [/ QUOTE ]

This isn't Blizzard. Until a few months ago, any and all new costume pieces were not the work of a "large team of artists." They were the work of one man, Sexy Jay, who had to work in conjunction with Back Alley Brawler to make sure that everything animated correctly. Recently, the character art (PC and NPC models) team has tripled in size (for those not mathematically inclined, this means that CoH now has a huge character art team that consists of three people).

As far as I know, Castle's team of powers folks is also three large, including Castle, and one of them also works on Bases, while the other also works on Badges.

Your "large team of artists and developers" that can get anything done (including quality checking and bug fixing) in a matter of hours exists only in your fantasies.

Speaking of large teams of artists and developers, how quickly does WoW get new faces and costumes and badges into their game, from conception to publication. I'm willing to bet it is quite a bit more than a few hours even for a Development team of that size.

I want the City of Franchise to grow and thrive, and provide the maxium content for it's players. I love this game, and have been here since launch, i remember how excited i was being one of the first players to play the game at E3 2003. I want the game to strive for bigger and better improvements. WE really should expect more.

    rant over..

    [/ QUOTE ]

Fantastic that your rant is over. Now, maybe, just maybe, you could let us in on whatever you think it is that the game should be providing you that you aren't getting? So far, it has been a lot of wind about how we are being shortchanged and how we should expect, nay, demand(!) more, but not a single specific.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thanks for miss quoting me to fit your agenda. I never said that the game has a huge team of artists and developers. Here's the actual quote:

You might think that creating new faces and badges takes months of work by a large team of artists and developers, but believe me, it merely takes a few hours.

My point was that creating new faces, badges DOESN"T need a huge team of artists. I know, because, like i said it's what i do.

Here's another point you missed in your volatile defense of the game at all cost, simple improvements or ideas, from my initial post you overlooked.

"Like adding more SG base items, more tailoring items and new faces, More world events, revamping "dead" zones into something new like what they did in Faultline, even something as simple as changing the movie theatre marquis from the old "5th column and Council"

Next time, take the time required to read a little more.I listed very simple and easy ideas from these forum over the years.

if your perfectly happy with the game, and feel that there should be NO room for anyone to feel disappointment at the level of game content, then we are simply not on the same plain, but thats OK. Like i have said, i love this game, and i feel that even keeping in mind what is to come, i think the game needs to strive for more content. Simple things as i have listed, and better ones listed here on this forum over 5 years of suggestions, too many to list here.

See you at the next pocket-D dance party! I bet i know what song will be playing....

And again: did you not bother seeing what we ARE getting next? Things which we HAVE been asking for?

We don't need to expect more - you need to respect the pace of development and workability of things we ask about. They're not waving magic wands at Paragon, they're hard working human beings who have to decide what they CAN implement, IF they can, what it affects when they do, and whether it's worth keeping.

You are lying if you think that it takes "merely a few hours" - sorry, that's absoultely untrue. I don't believe for a second you work in this industry purely BECAUSE you'd say something like that. Frankly - if redesigning something as simple as a badge actually worked that way, don't you think the (now fixed) Mission Teleport button would actually have been fixed within hours of noticing it was messed up?

It's not that simple. plenty of my friends work IN the actual industry and no, nope, sorry. Not going for it for a moment.

As players of a game, we don't "deserve" anything. We pay our money for the game that's playable on the servers we get access to. We do not in any way hold the keys to the kingdom, we do not in any way hold stock in NC's production, and we do not get to make decisions about what is or is not feasable for the game.

We get to PLAY it. Not rule it.

If you want to make your own successful mmo and allow the players to dictate what gets made in it, by all means, do so.

You'll remember the "it's not that easy" comments pretty quickly then, I think.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You can believe what you want about the game. If you think it takes months and months to create simple things like new faces and badges? Thats great for you. Ask some of your friends who actually work in the game industry. If you think that you as a player are not in any position to expect anything anything from a game you pay a monthly fee to? well thats great for you as well. Seems like you are prefectly happy with the game, i'm happy for you. I love the improvements they have added over the past 5 years, i know, they can do more.
  7. My thanks for your responses, the point to my post was that 5 years of fantastic suggestions by devoted players like YOU, have seen some fruition, but not as much as could or should be expected. Yes, YOU as a player deserve more. It's sad to think that you as a player think that the game is providing you with ample improvements equal to your money. Like i said before, if your happy with the improvements thus far, great for you. You might think that creating new faces and badges takes months of work by a large team of artists and developers, but believe me, it merely takes a few hours (i work in the industry)

I want the City of Franchise to grow and thrive, and provide the maxium content for it's players. 8. Over the past 5 years, i have read some really great ideas and suggestions to improve the game, simple things, like adding more SG base items, more tailoring items and new faces, More world events, revamping "dead" zones into something new like what they did in Faultline, even something as simple as changing the movie theatre marquis from the old "5th column and Council" one to something new. I enjoy the AE missions, the crafting and other game improvements, but i know, based on what other games are out there after 5 years, provide to their players, that these changes are very small in comparison, and we as players deserve more. If your happy with the game, and can list all the wonderful changes and improvements over the years, thats great for you. I love this game, and i know there are players like me who just want more from the game, and aren't satisfied with what is, and what should be, for the amount of money 5 years development can buy you.

The lesson here is that communication is key for running a team effectively.

I've had experiences like that in CoH, actually. It's never fun, but often I've found I can wrest control of the team away from the leader just simply by continually asking, over and over what the plan is. Eventually they either kick me (which is fine with me, if they'd rather kick me than talk to me then that's totally fine, I'll go do something else), or they answer me. Once they actually start talking it's pretty easy to stick a paddle in the water and help direct a little.

Something I've found over the years and years I've played the game is that very often the people who complain about the players on their team are actually crappy players themselves who don't know how to lead effectively. With the right guidance and motivation anyone can become a decent player on a team and a standard that I try very hard to always apply to myself is the idea that if my team sucks, then I'm not doing my job.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I've often found, that people who brag about their leadership skills and rational virtues, in game are in fact crappy leaders.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Very often they can be, yes. There have been occasions where I've been an absolutely terrible leader, failing to understand the individual playstyles of my team, the way they've built their character and their individual comfort levels, leading to whipe after whipe after whipe. None of us are perfect.

EDIT - What I can say, though, is that it's not the standard. It's happened int eh past and it'll happen again, but ultimately it's neither the standard for me, nor is it the usual. What it is, however, is still my fault. And it does no one any favours to come to the forums and whine and piss and cry about how the players on my team all sucked when it's so completely obvious to anyone paying attention that there was something I could have done about it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Kudos to you friend.I was just checking to see if, like some people i have met, you were just taking any opportunity to "suck your own d***" You have earned my respect.

    That problem pre-dates AE teams.

Not sure why everyone is suddenly under the impression that farming is new and only existed since the implementation of player mission. Get real, guys/gals.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's a question, I think, less of it having existed rather the fact that the sheer numbers of instances of this problem have in fact skyrocketed since the MA. It's the population explosion of clueless unskilled high level players that people are discussing now. No one is claiming they never existed prior. They just weren't epidemic before.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thank you, and to those like you, that understand what i am talking about. It's not that i have no idea how to cope with the problem, sure, i could just team with SG mates, avoid Atlas Park, not do any PUGs, but sometimes, SG mates or friends are not around and you feel like playing. Used to be, a high level player, even a PUG, had a certain respect and unspoken fail safe knowledge you knew you could rely on. Not any more.

    <QR>

Why does anybody care if you teammates are good or not? All they're good for is increasing the spawn size. Doesn't take any skill to fill(I can rhyme!).

    [/ QUOTE ]

That has to be one the dumbest things i have ever read in my 5 years of playing this game. Teammates who don't know to follow the Tank, Don't know how to pull, don't know not to aggro a second mob while the first is still engaged, don't know to look at your teams END bars to see how everyone is doing, before taking on the next mob, notice when the healer says AFK, etc...Adds up to repeated team wipes, something apparently you enjoy!

Yeah it's terrible ... All these new people in Co* .. How dare the dev's try to make the game popular. I'm sure it'll get worse too. There gonna have to make up for all the accounts they are banning due to the leveling pact exploit ...

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm not frustrated at the NUMBER of newbies, it's the increasing lazy, lack of skill they bring to a team. New players are good for the game, lazy players are not.
  15. I really enjoy the AE system, it's a great tool to create stories and characters, write dialog, and bring some interesting ideas to life. However, i am finding that the majority of players, are simply interested in finding the AE mission which will give them the most XP and influence, for the least amount of effort. Getting into teams with people, who have really no clue of how to play the game, don't understand teamwork, following the Tank, the concept of pulling, or looking at your team roster to see how everyone's endurance is doing before aggroing the next mob, just drives me crazy when these players are in their high 30's 40's and even at 50, because they really have never taken the time to actually PLAY THE GAME. I had a really bad string of PUGs tonight. Used to be that if someone was a level 50, you could count on a certain level of skill and teamwork, because they had worked hard through all the zones, and knew what to do.I'm just frustrated at the ever increasing level of newbies, leveling fast, and not grasping basic game fundamentals. I know PLing is nothing new, however, it used to be the exception, not the rule, and the quality of players has suffered greatly. I really hope this post sinks in to at least one person, and saves one team from wiping, and then i'll be happy.

"Tales of the Atomik Punk" http://atomikpunk.blogspot.com/

Atomik Punk was Science SS/ INV Tanker character i created back in 1985 from the Champions old pen and paper Superhero RPG. Bringing this character to life in COH in 2004, and staying true to old drawings and descriptions of the character, was alot of fun!
Earliest tales are at the very bottom of page, or numbered in the index.

    Enjoy!
