    Is this lame?

I don't think it'll fly, even with the space. There's a reason Super Girl is vacant and would probably quickly becom Generic hero girl 323231124323

((KITTY! er hrmm. I"m impressed that Smith knew that Cat's are actually of of sync with the human time stream and perceive time differently. Hope when he comes back in 3823 years things will be ok ))
  4. Gathered round a table in the corner, 5 old men and 1 woman, clearly they've been there all night, completely oblivious of the fact the Rookery closed and reopened around them. The floor around the table is littered with Mountain Dew 2 liters and pizza boxes.

The most distinguished, sporting a pony tail says "You enter a dark room, a snoring sound is coming from the corner, but shadow obscure just who or what is lying there."

The pot bellied hippie to the right of the pony tailed man screams " I cast Magic Missile at the lump."

The attractive but clearly older woman smacks the back of the hippies head "You always cast magic missile, stop it."
  5. Wish I knew. Jack's become an online staple in one form or another since I started CoH yea all those years ago. Think I might have been reading Jack London and Thomas Wolfe at the time. One of my female alt's name means "Desert Flower" in Farsi, I've been using that name since SW:Galaxies, but I don't really know where the others come from.

  7. The secret phrase for today is "purple patch", is one of our contestants says the phrase they'll win 100 influence.
    Honk Honk

    Hey whatsa matter you?
  8. I put an excerpt for "The Gunslinger" in and apparently Stephen King writes like Stephen King

    Who knew?
  9. A sample of one of my engineering reports got Dan Brown

A very short RP story got Stephen King

    Then I got
    I write like H. G. Wells. Proof: http://iwl.me/s/a85d5606

Does the whole badge code thing if you want. Wonder if I submit an ERP if I can get Jackie Collens or Charlotte Harris (hmm maybe the word vampire)

Yeah, so? I've was black listed from a group of folks I thought were my friends and were, at the time, a fairly popular group of toons on Virtue. Bummed me out a bit because, I consider these folks friends (at my age then, 39-40, I should have known better but had just moved to a new town and didn't know anyone) because we had outside game/SG conversations/contact. Had zero effect on my enjoyment of the game, and the blacklist was mostly ignored in terms of teaming and my ability to join another supergroup. Did kill my writing though.

I was the 3rd person they had shunned, and they continued to do so to other members. I suspect the 3 core leaders are still running incredibly interesting RP in some game out there, and alienating people as they go.

Play your game, don't take RP personally, and avoid drama like the plague.

Don't take me wrong, I've seen great SG. For some folk's SG friendships can be very real and very close, even I still talk to some of the folks from the first group, but don't put up with crap.

This is generally good advice, I mean how else do you know if you'll have fun with the people? But remember it's not like it's a blood sacrifice to join and SG, you can quit. Also, in the end, unless you give up a lot of personal information, it's not like you just can't ignore group.

When you get a random invitation to a SG, be SURE you know who their leader is and if they are known for being exceptionally harsh for a group inside of a game.
Hadn't realized the Legends were back, or are we talking about a different ego maniacal SG leader? The thing with SGs is, you can leave, it's not like you're paying dues.

The point about good RP groups not being open to strangers in the D. Well if they're in a public place they may expect some sort of interruption, but look at the environment as if it were real life. The game's social paradigm is a hyper active modern life. The D is a bar, how would you act in bar or restaurant, would you (Or your character) randomly insert your self into a people at the next table conversation? Answer might be yes, but they might ignore you, or you know tell you to xxxx off. People go to a bar to relax, drink, dance, blow off steam, party with friends and try to get laid; so what goes on at the D is actually pretty accurate.

What I wish is more people would carry the D experience out to the active game world (as opposed in internal SG channels or bases) React to the world around you not as you would (thought at the early stages of RP why not) but as your character would. More open expression in local would be welcome. Seems to me some want too, a lot of people stop and appear to stare at you for a second, but then seem to move on, almost as if they were afraid to act for fear of not being cool. It's damn RPG, ff you see a cool event in game and your character is the type who would say something....SAY SOMETHING. Or ever just emote it, hell even if it's "Whoa, hot costume". The other players may or may not pick up on it, may or may not act on it, but hey nothing ventured nothing gained.
  13. The D's rep, while hard earned, is way overplayed. I'm sure some nights it's nearly the den scum and villany it used to be, but generally it's pretty tame today and there are some damn fine RPrs in there. Some of the topics aren't to my liking, but they do commit.

    S.o.c.m.m.o.b.

Aww hells, wish I'd have seen it, all I ever seem to run into is that idiot Crom who procedes to monologue me about how his eventual ruleship of the planet will be for the benifit of all. Ascendant really should do somthing about him.

Did see Killer Whale a couple weeks ago though.
  15. Oh yeah, and through I2 and I3 I used to get tells for the Jack Wolfe in Galaxy. Hence the name change. People would invoke powers, send tells, and generally be suprised when I'd answer.
  16. Several, once before the Pocket D, when it was just a rave in the warehouse a couple making out behind the stack of boxes emoted something about shakey knees and how good it felt, then kicked off a couple regen powers. About 20 of us at the bar above just looked at each other stunned.

Once smacking around some guys in the portal parking lot and speedster I know runs by, stops, says "Run Jack", and takes off again. I turn towards the building and he'd agro'd several giant monsters from the island north of the city and they had followed him back. Being it was i2 or 3 me and a couple other tanks held agro while several dozen other types killed monsters. An event, without an offical event.

Playing Santa for the Angels was always fun.
  17. Light allows for OOC and the occasional break in character on or off of Local. Probably some development and background worked out for the character, but maybe no writing or extra. Most newer RPers are light, simply because it takes time and effort to become a heavy player.

In a SG light usually means a tolerance for the above. No one is gonna smack you if you break character or accidently meta game.

The Heavy RPer tries to never break character, they react to everything as the character would given the character's history and background, everytime. Players like "Killer Whale" or "Gibraltar" (who was a stone golum who could only speak latin) were acceptionaly good at this. As was/is Karnal Sin and most of players around her. I also have to admit, though I've only observed a few cat/fairy/innocent type charcter in the long term, an awful lot of them appear spectacular at heavy RP. It takes a ton of effort, and I've seen players slip from heavy to light as it got later in the night and they got tired or as missions got frustrating.

In a SG/VG this ussually means Local, SG, and private are always IC, there may be a dedicated OOC channel, but if OOC is used more then IC other SG members get pouty. Dedicated story lines are usually run in the game and out. It can be great fun in the right hands, with the combination of actors, writers and directors...it can also be predictable, boring, and a rightious pain in the ***.

    Post a Character

Follow the Jack Wolfe link in the sig for the history. No I can't respec you. Nice to see some of you youngsters trying to keep up the RP tradition....Some of you old timers too.

Dude you left? Then came back? What's next Bosco?
  20. Rikti...they killed my family, they can all burn in hell.
  21. Amateurs all of yooz.. seriously. Spartan is the only one even least bit impressive among you. I've had over 1500 posts lost, I shut down entire super groups entire 10 team alliances with 1 sentence.

    "The pie sucks."

    There now go spread chaos.
  22. I always wondered what got up that Guru's *** about Sorah. Your jiggle squeeze corner of the guru boards were a riot.

I do find the idea of choosing not to have kids funny, aren't you like 23? Come see us in 10 years.

The D can be out there, but Gemini wasn't any better (two weeks into the live game and some folks were offering the **** scenaro to my female toon), and the old rave Warehouse? I still remember an in the clear mistill "XXX XXXX knees shudder as..blah blah blah) complete with spamed heal or regen effect. Conversation on the entrie upper deck just stopped.

That said, I see some pretty good wingman RP at the D, RP that fits the context of the bar. I've held hour long conversations based on good opening lines. Course those players weren't looking for ERP; but bar RP, maybe even Sorah's fabled romance.

Personally I refuse to define ERP as wrong, I've seen, and been part of, RP that had adult content that was incredably written and charcter consitant. Well written stories and play, well I can be convienced, haven't been on this server in about 4 years, but a good writer/player can make up for a lot.

I to blame romance novels, an ex used to read Anne Rice/Vampire/Anita Blake books to me while were in bed at night.

RP in general on the server is...well weak. I'm sure the SG stuff is good, but I'd like to see more open RP in the general world. There used to some fun spots to sit around and talk, hell you used to able to land next to someone on a rooftop and get a good conversation going.

Hey, is the sports lounge/clubhouse still hiding behind those boxes in Faultine? That was one comfortable couch.
