Really? Because I'm working on a low-level arc with the Outcasts and Vahzilok, and had to use bosses. I just picked "Random" and when I tested on a low character the boss spawned as a lieutenant.

I could be wrong though, and I'll definitely go back and confirm.

    [/ QUOTE ]

yes, when it is very few people I've noticed that it often ends up being a leut.
  2. what about masterminds and blasters? I have an Ice-tank boss...
  3. Okay, I am surprised that there isn't already one of these.

does anyone have any story ideas that they've been kicking around, but haven't actually made yet? post them here for peer review, plot polishing, and the like.

    Circuit Breaker
a genius hacker steals computerized access codes from longbow, and when you are called in to follow the trail, you discover a cult of hackers following someone called Fathom. with additional files stolen off of their computers, you may have their base location, but the only person who could verify it for certain has just been captured by the Fathom Hackers. when you rescue him, however, he falsely says that there are more prisoners further into the mission sending you headlong into a trap with the massive, armored Cooling fan. he's a traitor, and the heroes manage to stop him from escaping police custody, at which point he tells you the entire, chilling truth: Fathom is a malevolent, artificial intelligence, the work of Crey that went a little too far ahead of the curve and escaped into the sewers some years ago. Fathom reached out to the computer community and assembled an army of hackers, hardware enthusiasts, and social pariahs in order to do the manuel labor in his plot to take over the world through the military installations of every country. with this information, you are able to pinpoint an abandoned section of the sewer that is still getting a power drain, and manage to shut down the three main Fathom terminals. at which point Fathom downloads itself into a robotic avatar in order to defeat you, initiating a last ditch emergency escape when defeat looks imminent, leaving his plan in shambles. in an undisclosed location, fathom plots his next attempt - and more importantly, his revenge.

    what'cha think?

At the same time, I could see an interesting story arc that explored this territory. Although I don't know if I'd actually enjoy playing it much. I've never really liked being a bad guy, and I'm really pleased I can use the MA to take a "villain" and make them a hero.

    [/ QUOTE ]

An interesting concept... are you suggesting that a villain attempt to stop a plan that is fundamentally Evil, because they aren't willing to cross the line of being an accomplice to child killing or genocide or 9/11 type stuff?

or is it more like a story Idea that I have in which you sucker punch a time traveler, steal his time machine, then proceed on a time bandits type thing where you screw up the time stream and create a vicious paradox that is unravelling the fabric of reality. at this point you are chased by heroes while simultaneously trying to prevent the end of the world for purely "I don't want to die" purposes?

could it be a mix of the two? you team up with another villain in order to pull a major heist, but suddenly your partner goes over the edge and plots genocide. you aren't willing to have that on your consience/record, so you start working against him, with the heroes also trying to stop him thinking that you are still a willing accomplice. and do you succeed in stopping the other villain, or do you go down in flames and an entire world, group, school, species, etc. are killed?
  5. Hello! I have recently been half-contracted to help with making certain dialog less wooden, and I would like to open this thread to see if others would like similar help. I love writing, as well as seeing other peoples work, so I hope that this works out. for all of you who bore witness to my unfortunate spamming, I wou;d Like to apologise again for the pointless inturruption of your reading (no sarcasm)
    See you soon!
  6. what is "midnight in the garden of good and evil?" Some movie? and also, if anyone else would like help with dialog, contacts, or clues, I'm pretty good at that sort of thing. a story is nothing if the words are wooden.

and apologies to seb for the spamming.
  8. I am terribly sorry about that. I HAVE been coming up with Ideas, but I enjoy a collaborative effort on stories to ensure that I'm not just writing complete trash, and it seems that everyone has great Ideas on these forums. I'd rather that every party involved have an equal voice in the story, so the continuity becomes richer. I apologize for the spamming from the bottom of my heart, but I hope that it will lead to a good story.

as to the suggestions of Voodoo...
Thanks, but I'm afraid that it has been requested by Sebastian that we leave out events of the previous wars, for the most part, to prevent spoilers.
  9. thaks, Dug. and also thanks for checking out the message board. see new forum thread on the third Rikti War!
  10. aaaaaaaaaahhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! got the quotes on the last one wrong! parts before the quote are not mine, I never said they were!!!!

It's commonplace in any serialized fiction. If you think it's ready, I say go for it. Plus feedback on the first arc may give you ideas or criticism that may apply to the other parts before you even put them out.

good idea, and if you put it out now, you will be able to edit it and get it to peak condition before all of them are out!
  12. Hello, I am Doctor Paradox. you may recognize me from such dastardly schemes as "The Day of the Plastic-Ray," "Countdown to Apocalypse," or "The Seeds of Yggdrasil."

    No?

    Fine. on to business.
A person by the name of Joshdex (or Sebastian Dash) and I have been in correspondence over something called Rikti War III, an event taking place roughly 20 years in the future, where there is yet another Rikti War. this will be multiple continuities revolving around one central storyline that will rock the planet to it's core.
    what storyline, you ask?

    that's where you come in.

you see, Sebastian and I can't seem to agree on what the premise shall be. here's an excerpt from the official message boards that we set up (at the moment, Me and Seb.) at http://z11.invisionfree.com/AiL/inde...c=198&st=0

    Me:
[bold] nteresting, Guest. if it were a Hero responsible, and if they wanted revenge on the other heroes to the point of figurative genocide, who would it be? who has such resentment for his or her former compatriots? I hear Dark watcher, a hero who even now hold a sizable Rikti history was lost and forgotten by the original Freedom Phalanx in some Novel that I can't find. could he be the mastermind behind the plot? and does he acknowledge that such a course is in the spirit of revenge, or would he claim to be doing it "for the Good of Mankind" in a Lex Luthor kind of way ( Read "Justice" and you'll see what I mean). also, does Vanguard exist in this future, or could it have been shattered in the buildup to the war by an unknown force (an inside job, perhaps? a little dynamite can go a long way underground, and the loss of Lady Grey could sow quite a lot of confusion) that gets revealed as the story goes on? if so, and if the Dark Watcher is to Blame, could he be the head of a skeleton Group that he later betrays when it has fulfilled its usefullness? it could be called "Rearguard" or somesuch . [/bold]

    Seb:

[bold]Is it possible we could sidestep the issues of the original war as much as possible, and focus on the new war, though? Leave the past shrouded in mystery, as it were?

    Just a thought.. [/bold]

as yet we have been unable to even find the basis for WHY they invaded. please help, either here or at the message board above.
    thank you.

  13. FOR THE LOVE OF AJAX, WILL SOMEONE ADD THEIR IDEAS TO THIS POSTING ZONE?!?!
Sebastian Dash and I have been back and forth-ing for weeks now on the story behind the Maxi-event we are trying to put together with a large number of people, the Third Rikti War, but even though I keep suggesting things, he keeps shooting them down. WE NEED FRESH VOICES! PLEASE< EVEN IF YOU DON"T ACTUALLY RESPOND, TAKE A LOOK IN CASE YOU DO HAVE AN IDEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From the deepest secrets of both magics, Grave Dancer has created an army of the dead, risen from the grave to expand his dark purpose, roaming the streets of Paragon in search of victims to join their ranks, mindless slaves until the end of time.

  15. I'm Working on a 1-54 story arc called Circuit Breaker, but I Can't say if it's what you're looking for since it is BRIMMING with custom enemies. does anyone have any tips for making custom groups more fun and/or well rounded?
    look for it this june!
    it's gonna be a Blockbuster
(think Hal 9000 leading an army-cult of hackers in an attempt to take over the world.)
  16. I'm afraid this isn't published yet, but I have a good feeling about this one. my goal from the start is story, and I try to refine as much as possible. I apologize for what may be excessive text.

    [bold]Circuit Breaker[/bold]
a computer genius is gathering an army of hackers and hardware enthusiasts for reasons unknown, having hacked into Longbow and Stolen their files. it's up to YOU to uncover the Mystery shrouding this "Fathom" person, and stop whatever mad goals he is attempting.

I have the first two missions more or less complete, with only a few cosmetics on those, but I intend to add two more missions.
    Best of luck!

A lot of this has probably been said by others but here is my feelings about the MA. There is a rant at the top and a summary of my suggestions at the bottom.

I was very excited about the MA, I tried it on test when it came out a little bit to see how it lived up to my expectations, the enemy group creator certainly did, but the mission editor itself fell short, I didn't really try to create anything complex on test, but thought up many ideas, now that it has gone live, I feel even more disappointed.

The main thing I wanted to do with MA was flesh out my heroes and villains, give them back stories etc. The limits of the MA limits my creativity greatly with this. The file size limit is the worst of them. With the current file size limit it is only really possible to have 1 fully fleshed out custom group, meaning either you can only have 1 custom group, or gameplay suffers greatly. A lot of ideas I had were of opposing sides where your character is caught in the middle. I tried to make one of my ideas, but I had to take so much out, it just wasn't very fun to play anymore.

Also, when want to play someone elses arc, I would much rather fight custom characters they have made then regular in game enemies.

Another problem is mission events and objectives. These are very limiting, very little options for npcs to interact together, and very little control on objectives. It sucks that we can only choose front middle back for locations of things, but there should at least be an option to set one object to always be before the other. For example, I had a mission where you had to stop a robbery, there was supposed to be a boss guarding a collection item, and both were set to back, but most of the time it seemed the item would be way before the boss.

Finally, the ability for storytelling is very lacking, I would really like to have npcs have more interactions with each other, possibly a cutscene editor.

I think this is part of the reason that all people do now is run MA farms, its very hard to make unique missions or have good storytelling. If cost is the issue for the size limitation, make us have the option to pay more for more space, maybe have limited mission slots but with a bigger size than currently and allow us to buy more mission slots, or have an "architect" subscription that gives us more slots and bigger file sizes for $5 more a month or something.

Here is a summary of suggestions:

<ul type="square">[*]Increase file size by 3x-5x(to allow at least 3 fleshed out custom groups, a custom contact and possibly more missions in an arc, 10 would be good, add a payment option for bigger filesizes if cost is the issue.)[*]Have events able to interact with each other(For example, have dialog options for allies when coming into contact with other objectives, like say something when you aggro the boss.)[*]Either allow us to manually pick objective location or add a priority option(for example choose to make a boss have a higher priority than a collection so even if they are both set to "Back" position, the boss always appears first)[*]More storytelling ability(for example a cutscene creator would be great, and doesnt seem that hard to do, and different contacts between missions in an arc)[*]Map creation like the base editor(don't see why they wouldn't add this, possibly a technical issue?)[*]A copy character button that would automatically create a character based on the one you are playing (I know there is a load costume button, but being able to copy powers and everything in 1 button would be cool, have difficulty selection and maybe this can be the way to have arachnos and kheldians.)[/list]
    [/ QUOTE ]

    HEAR HEAR!
I have any number of great Ideas, and they all seem to be getting foiled by file sizes and amounts of missions available! new enemy content should be encouraged, not viewed as something that eats into the storytelling capabilities!

  20. So, I'm feeling like a bit of an imposter here.

You see, the arc That I'm submitting for review here isn't mine, per se, but the brainchild of my 13 year old brother, with extensive help from me. please pardon his typos.

Storyline name: The Seeds of Yggdrasil
    by @WhiteArrow

Faction: Neutral. this is a general "save all of reality" thing. imitation Midnight squad to let it be 1-54, and custom enemies. (+brief battle with ppd nad giants)

Difficulty level: Soloing possible for confident players, and to help with the last Extreme boss (entered as arch villain, but keeps being played as elite boss) he added in about four allies. unfortunately, these often end up being a massive pain to find in the EXTREMELY ruined atlas park. seriously, I don't know WHAT my brother was thinking using that thing. Council robots, cool as they are, have no place in this story.

Synopsis: The Frost Giants are attempting to steal and plant the only three seeds that the World Tree Yggdrasil ever grew, and thus recreate reality as a desolate, Icy wasteland. STRONG Norse mythological overtones here, with some artistic license taken.

estimated time to play: 4 mid to long missions, with two annoying outdoors and one somewhat confusing indoor. Midnight squad base.

Please either post responses here or E-Mail to Whipslinger@gmail.com.
also, if anyone reading this is interested in a massive collaborative effort to make a massive overarching event, please go to this site.
