When you edit a standard enemy, is the -/+ thing supposed to change height, or is it just so you can look over what you're recoloring?
-
I really hope that's not a more general bug, since I use a lot of mixed groups, too. Eek.
-
In Papers and Paychecks, is mission 4 supposed to spawn nothing but bosses? I'm at min level (33), maybe there's a group composition issue.
If so, well, that's '1 star' territory right there. -
Well, supposedly they are improving it, so it remains to be seen how much they improve it.
I'd like, for example, the ability to have ninjitsu and drop Hide, add a few things, and end up about the same. Or have a ranged/melee set and drop the 'throwing knives' from melee. -
Until I17 when you can pick and choose powers more precisely without killing XP, though granted.
More reasonably, customs are reliable from about, oh, 15-54, depending. -
I came back after a year away overjoyed to have 100kb.
I had had to make some SERIOUS cuts to my arcs to get them to fit. Now, I was able to round out the custom enemies, and, in particular, add in unique characters for named bosses. All three arcs are in the 96-99% range.
With more space? More enemies! In particular, being able to use more unique enemies would mean I wouldn't need to poach existing enemies and have broader level ranges.
Which is one reason I disagree about customs being window dressing:
They add a distinct visual style, which can communicate a lot of interest in this mission, vs. 'ok, these are CoT but green. And they, uh, want the secret to Coke.'
Unique and different powersets.
Broader level range. An all-custom mission means anyone can play. Using specific mobs means you are generally limited to 10-30 level ranges (or even less if you want X mob and Y mob, and many combos of mobs that are simply not possible).
Anyway... I'd love 200k! -
I'd appreciate a review of one (or more) of my EPIC TRILOGY... War Against the Undying One.
(How undying is he? You'll have to play the arcs to find out)
ArcIDs in my sig -
Generally, any time you have a range of options, people have a strong tendency to veer toward the middle. For example, if you have a 1-5 spread centered at 3 being 'average' feelings about something, I would guess the percent of folks answering 2-4 is much higher than the 60% it should be.
Similarly, a lot of folks are seeing '5 star' as meaning in the top 99th percentile or something. Why? There are 5 stars, and no indication you should be grading on a curve.
If you think an arc is better than 80% of the arcs out there... go on. Give it 5 stars. -
Recently came back to City of Heroes after a year or so away, revamped my Epic Trilogy (cue dramatic music), which are set in a fantasy world. (Arc IDs in my sig)
I've soloed it with a 20s dual sword/willpower brute (and a 30s fire/dark scrapper) at: bosses yes, level +0, x2 difficulty.
I'd appreciate reviews and commentary, thank you! -
I played Two Tickets to Waverly, enjoyed it thoroughly. Some niggling little bits about formatting and some confusion going into the last mission (who is doing what? Why are you at the apartment?). I also dislike level reduced scenarios. All that said, I still gave it 5 stars.
Please check out my arc:
War Against the Undying One, Part 1/3: Challenge of the Dwarves.
ArcID: 91044, Author: @WillT
Epic fantasy arc, working to enlist the aid of the dwarves in fighting the Undying One. Soloable with a suitably tough character (I could solo it with mid-20s dual sword/willpower brute with 'bosses: yes, level +0, x2' difficulty)
Level range is generally 27-50 (first is 41-41 due to funky mob selection, didn't have much choice)
I just came back to CoX after a year's absence, so spent some time revamping this and the two sequels. Changes included expanding some of the groups (since I left before arcs were given more space to play with), and shortening some maps to give the feel of 'big rambly cave system' without actually, you know, being an annoyingly long rambly cave system.
Anyhow, please check it out. There are two sequels also on the table; I'll be getting around to two more of OP's arcs.
(note that the third Arc has a mission designed to fail. It's short and I think it suits the story, but if I get nothing but grumbles about it I might do a rewrite) -
There are dwarves in the Infantry of Kor, but the random generation can be very streaky. Also, there are Eisenreich other than the Jaeger bots; the inclusion is 'random Eisenreich minions, lt.s, and Warhulks.'
One of the (many) things that would be nice is if you could specify exactly what complement of mobs appear in various groups. I had to struggle a lot with getting things to appear how I wanted, because of the weird random element.
The other criticisms are definitely food for thought, and thanks for them! -
I have played arcs so rife with grammatical, punctuation, and spelling errors that I simply can't stomach them. Unless the arc is REALLY freakin' awesome, this is a recipe for 'get someone to edit/spellcheck this' and a 0 rating.
I just tried an arc that was so bad, in combination with a tiresome first mission, that I quit right there, 0 starred it.
Presentation is everything. It doesn't have to be perfect, but if you aren't going to bother making the thing readable, why should I be bothered to wade through it?
On the flip side, it's one consideration. There have been several 5 stars I've given out where there were grammatical or spelling errors. Just, you know, not every freakin' sentence.
Amusingly, I've had at least one feedback saying that my third arc had a bunch of grammatical mistakes. Looking over it... I'd have to say I disagree with the feedback. I THINK it's some confusion over a term for a nationality (something like 'Basque'), but I'm not sure.

Use 'Random Hydra Minion' and tentacles have a chance of spawning. Unfortunately, you can't specifically pick the tentacles (though it sounds like this is ok for you)
-
Lattice and Quarry are the two GMs I know of. Jurassik is in, but may be 'AV', I don't remember.
Adamastor downgraded to Elite Boss is actually relatively easy. I've encountered harder lieutenants.
-
It also potentially solves the issue of hooking up with folks who are at the 'wrong' point of a story arc and having to play catch up (and juggling who activates which mission when)

The trains run on time.
The slums are covered by holograms to look like luxury housing.
Happiness is mandatory.
If you do not like what the government has planned for you, please check in at one of the many convenient Personnel Reassignment Centers. Look for the smokestacks. -
If Doms had weapon assault sets, I might actually give them a try.
-
I have a basic thing I'd like for the future -- ability to change basic model type for different costumes, and change height slider.
I want my little girl to be able to monster out into a huge creature if I want. -
Of course, if you do that, they have the wrong faction name. :/
-
Side note re: water: someone on forum floated the idea of Energy blast as 'water.' The look, and secondary effect, make a lot of sense.
-
Eh, always nice to do some spring cleaning and weed out the stale porn.
-
I'd get the R.U.R. reference, but hey.
Talk about bad glowies. One of my missions has glowies in one of those Oranbega maps, and there's a very rare but existent chance that glowies will spawn within range of those random crystal spawns.
Which makes the mission potentially impossible, though the chance is so low I just crossed my fingers and kept it as is.
(Here's hoping we can place stuff specifically, some day) -
Well, you can fake a personal Nemesis in MA, can't you? Just make a series of missions featuring Whomever, and having your SG run with you to fight the dastardly Poodleman in all his exploits.
Alternately, if you want to be surprised, have a good friend write your Nemesis (and maybe return the favor) -
Time controller... some combo of kinetics and dark. Dark... entropy. Hee

Frankly, I find it a bit odd that all mob spawns can't be made equal.
I assume there's some esoteric code reason, but 'plunk X guys in Y location' doesn't seem important to distinguish 'boss' from 'rescue' from 'ally' from...
