Burden of Proof? You're kidding me. I don't care about the rewards. I really don't. At all. What I care about is the gameplay experience. And at the moment, being EB only is a detriment to the gameplay and how I and my friends want to play the game.
I do not care about the "optimum" way to get XP. I do not care about the "optimum" reward scheme. All I care about is that I have epic, badass fights where my friends on the defenders, controllers, corruptors, etc, matter.
At the moment, they're irrelevant. Because my scrapper just wandered in and tore the EB's arm off without support. -

I once had someone stuck running around in-game with a megaphone. It was weird.
-
We stabbed it with our steely knives, but just could not defeat the AV
-
CoH. Like Hotel California with death rays and tights.
-
Yeah, like Zombie Man said, this sounds like an oversight more than anything. Report it as a bug.

Far as I can tell, by including AVs as optional (key word: optional, as in not appearing unless we want them to), this strips the solobility of it. Somehow. Maybe it retroactively makes his XP less than my XP. I don't know.
I'm really befuddled as to why anyone would have a problem with optional AVs. -
The problem is right now that none of the EBs are ever spawning as AVs. This includes major heavy hitters like Mot, The Sentinel, and Mother Keres, who are explicitly described as being walking apocalypses. A five to eight man team will tear through an EB in a matter of seconds, usually before it even gets an attack off.

I love the Mot Piranha Plant. Heck, I want a Judgement power that incorporates the Mot Piranha Plant attack into it. You use... let's call it Audrey Judgement. And a bunch of Piranha Plants appear underneath your enemies and try to eat them! Alternatively, one huuuuge Piranha Plant mouth erupts from the ground over an area and tries to chomp everything in it.

I like teaming. I dislike the playerswarm, where I'm a ninja in the ninja mook squad.
There's more to the game than just SOLO! and ZERGLING! -
It's still deeply unsatisfying to have the final confrontation with the forty foot monster being over in less than 5 seconds. That's a definite AV spawn there.
-
Even when AVs are set to Yes and on a large team, AVs are not spawning in Dark Astoria missions. This includes stuff like The Sentinel, Mother Keres, and Mot himself. They spawn as EBs no matter what.
The only AV spawn I've seen is Black Scorpion. -
-
But then it feels "Why are half of us here? We just curbstomped MAJOR VILLAIN in 3 seconds."
That's not powerful. That's basically us godmodding our way through. And that's dull. Why bother running? Just push button - get XP.
These are things that should be, for teams, spawning as AVs. Like the Sentinel. It feels underwhelming. -
Let me preface this by saying I am seriously enjoying the new stuff in Dark Astoria. It's well written, challenging, entertaining stuff that makes me feel powerful and important and respected by the contacts and NPCs. The zone is atmospheric, the maps are very good looking (and I want them in AE
), and enemies challenging. So good job there, devs.
But a little quibble, or possibly even a bug, regards the endbosses. A lot of enemies that make up the big final challenge for a level, like The Sentinel or Blue Steel, spawn as EBs, even when you're set for AVs to spawn and on a six or seven man team. Even the final confrontation is this way, spawning as an EB no matter what. So they get curbstomped.
Given how much of a buildup we're getting to these fights, I feel this has to be an oversight. We need these guys as being able to spawn as AVs in order to provide an acceptable challenge to teams... or survive long enough for us to see their attacks. -
Just me, or is the moon getting bigger and/or closer with each new update or zone? O.o

Quote:The Jade Spider is a little too big, and I always find fighting it weird. The giant ants from Them! are more on the scale of, say, trucks or large cars. Some of the larger Tarantulas are about the right scale.Well, the Jade Spider has shown that something like that is quite a practical idea.
-
I want Giant Atomic Ants to punch out. That's right, I want a bunch of extras from Them! to battle and punch in the face. I want to fight six legged insectoid Volkswagens, and I want to do it for justice.
Because seriously. Giant ants. -
Looking forward to seeing everyone tonight!

For added hilarity, throw in stuff like the Devastation Hold proc and/or the Cognitive Interface Confusion proc. You get the ripple effect of Jolting Chain tearing through a crowd, and sometimes more fun stuff happens too.

Actually, looking carefully at the sash there on Sunstorm and the Khelds... that's not the same sash as in the Carnie pack. Very, very similar... except, y'know, crappier. They're going to have to build a new one for the players.

Oh, I fully admit the name and character is a Doc Sampson reference. But somehow, I see her closer to She-Hulk in spirit. If only the game's models could make muscular women.

Always been a fan of Doc Delilah myself. But then, she's basically She-Hulk, if She-Hulk were a female Indiana Jones instead of an attorney.
