Quote:of course that means you get zero powersets/costume sets or anything else cause you just blew your 3 month wad on 1 tray. Then don't. No one is holding a gun to your head. But there are many players who will save a lot of money by buying those two rows of enhancement slots.
Currently it costs $70 bucks to pull all the enhancements off of a single build ($210 bucks for all three builds), and we have players that burn thru respecs like they were meth addicts. That one time purchase of $40. for two enhancement trays forever cuts that price in half.
And if they are VIP's it won't cost them a penny to buy because they can save up and only spend the free points they get with their subscription. We'll be getting 1200-1600 points when Freedom launches, That's one tray right there. -
A subtle third color, or not so subtle helps break the cot up. Here's how I'd recolor the minions. More true to the originals.... Also runes in the archers belt

Quote:The problem with that image is that it's not quite how they look on beta yet and I'm assuming that they need to be patched in. The death mages are not in purple/black/pink they're all in yellow-gold/black.This might come off as too harsh, but screenshots like this are a continued reminder that this game is owned by a Korean MMO company.
I'm not exactly sure why they need all the spikes. I thought the Circle of Thorns called themselves that because they jam a crystal spirit thorn into a human body which releases a soul trapped within the crystal that consumes the soul of its new host and commandeers the body for its own use (run-on sentence ftl). I didn't know they called themselves that because they wear spiky armor straight out of a number of other generic fantasy MMORPGs. I guess everything I learned from Akarist in The Library of Souls arc was just misinformation.
Still better than the images in the screenshots from the convention though....
These costumes need a third color to break them up and perhaps a tad less pattern they bleed together into an ugly blob when seen in groups due to lack of distinguishing details....circle of thorny tumbleweeds....

Quote:That is possible though positron did say that costume slots for instance would be 5 bucks per instead of the current 10. Still expensive but that is a 50% reduction.I'm sure we're going to see a reduction in price, but I am afraid it will be on the order of 10% or less, and not the 50% or so that it really should be for some items.
If the prices become reasonable I may buy the market storage, recipe storage and maybe a tray. I don't find the tray all that useful unless I'm doing a respec to pull stuff out of a character and that's extremely rare.
As to not storing salvage. I keep racks full of common in my base and some uncommons because I dislike paying stupidly high prices for common drops. Especially when there are 1000+ available. You can't rely on tickets to get the salvage you need. I've had plenty of times where I've needed 2 alchemical silvers, rolled 30 arcane salvages and gotten everything but an alchemical silver....one of the many reasons I hate random crap. -
The reason the lady sit emote is so popular is that like most of the sit emotes females have use that emote. Most of the others don't work.

I added that to my popmenu with some /t feedback to let me know what mode I was in and an option to take the screenshot in said mode on top of switching to said mode.

Quote:This. They just don't get it. You want these purchases to be no thought / impulse buys, not have people stop and think about the pricing at all.Really I don't get why they are taking a page from the AppStore revolution and make everything cheap enough to where you would never even think twice about spending the money on it. aka 95% of things priced less than $1 the other 5% Rarely if ever going over $5, I think if they were to do this people would buy up a lot more of the doodads in the market.

Quote:You know the whole vault thing is just a damn time sink and annoying to boot!I'll be spending my VIP points on upping my storage
All except the vault, which I never use.
Enhancements first, then recipes and salvage and finally AH.
Back in i9 beta we were able to carry way more then we can now and during the whole storage-not selling stuff due to crappy drop rates, the devs decided that they would cut our personal storage in half and basically shoved the other half into these vaults forcing you to run all over hell and back to use them. The vault reason at the time was so people wouldn't delete important salvage from what I recall.
They should just do away with the useless vaults and put that storage back into inventory. -
looks like there is a new authbit for freedom...
Code:Also costume changes now go to 9..... so cc 0 to cc 9Menu "Energy Morph" { LockedOption { DisplayName "Costume Slot 1" Command "cce 0 CCEnergyMorph" Authbit MutantPack StoreProduct cucpmuem }

I think all that really needs to be done is a few color changes to some of the CoT and the removal of a few of the spiky patterns here and there. Wouldn't need much at all really.

Quote:While they may have pioneered it in gaming they have taken this kind of style from artists who were doing this way before warhammer was even born.Warhammer pioneered the spiked 'n' staked pauldrons look. It's now become so common as to be generic, which makes it a shame to have this redesign dilute CoH's distinctive and creative art direction. By way of illustration, here are some examples from, variously, card games, RPGs, tabletop strategy, and tie-in movies. Although the CoT redesign is on the more elaborate end of this spectrum, they all have the same look and feel.
Despite the ostentatiousness of the CoT redesign, it still gets lost in the pack with all the other trend-followers of this style of fantasy art.Check out art by Rodney Matthews. His art is fantastic in that its very sleek, curvy and yet spiky too.

Quote:She's answered this before and iirc it was something along the lines of the devs couldn't afford her / it would be a pay cut for her@Arcanaville
When are they going to offer you a job?
I don't want them to though because you wouldn't be able to share all the juicy statistics and be our "this is broken" advocate then. It's just an obvious thought.
Edit:
Or, maybe you are already employed by them and I just missed the memo. -
Quote:This is pretty much what I meant in an earlier post here, or perhaps it was in the open beta feedback forum on these guys now that I've seen them ingame. They blur together too much when in a group. The artwork looks wonderful... BUT!!!! and that's a big one....it doesn't translate well at all in the field.
I'd been reading about the new COT in forums, and on the beta chats so I mozied over to the Hollows to check them out and I thought they looked HORRID! And I don't mean that in a good way at all. The COT now look like just another creature (a la coralax and spawns) only with points. Pretty shapeless, and even less recognizable as anything that ever started out as human beings. (At least the old mages still looked somewhat human.)
Maybe in other environments they translate better, but I gotta say that I'm terribly disappointed.
Too pointy/blobby.
Also I thought I saw similar designs before and found an image which I'll host to not steal bandwidth....Warhammer 40k.
Click for bigger image
None the less I want these outfits!and the damn carnie stuff we've been asking for for years which the new Carnival of War/Light has. Sashes & Face Masks to say the least

Why would they need to? A proper farmer will max tickets on a map in 2 min give or take 30 seconds. A ticket bonus would do them no good.

Quote:Or, you know, they could just....remove that poser from the TF. Tell him to go home and bust a druggie or something. That would explain I suppose why the "Defeat Statesman and the Freedom Phalanx" final mission of the LRSF includes BABs.
Does this mean that we don't actually need to defeat BAB in this mission?
If not, the text is confusing and should be amended to say,
"Defeat the Freedom Phalanx and Back Alley Brawler" -

Quote:To Further expound on Mr Thorn's excellent advice you can also access the Incarnate window with the slash command "/windowtoggle incarnate"Above the power trays, there are a few clickable areas, such as "Powers" "Inspirations" and "Enhancements."
Click on the "Powers" option. At the top of that window there is an "Incarnate Abilities" button. Click on that, and it'll bring up the window that you need.
Once in that window there will be a few tabs. The first one shows you the incarnate slots and is where you will "slot" crafted abilities. Click on the slot and a list of the crafted abilities will show up on the right hand side. Some have a cooldown between slotting them which I believe is 5 min.
The second tab will show you what is needed to craft these and you can find info about the ability by right clicking on them in that window, even uncrafted ones.
The third tab lets you convert/build/downgrade/sidegrade components to make the stuff you need.
Hope that helps! -
Quote:That's a very valid point too. It could be because people feel the game starts at 50. I play Guild Wars now and then and there are only 20 levels in that game, not terribly difficult to get to but does take some time and the devs designed that game to actually start at L20, about 70% of its content is geared to the L20 player/party, so there it kind of makes sense but here? The game ends at L50 and then you get incarnate grinding or repeating the few things there are to do at 50, which of course the devs are trying to address as they can.I think the real reason is a combination of the fact that unfortunately, a lot of people are simply cretins who don't like to read, and the prevalence of the WoW-attitude that the game begins at 50 or for some reason a toon at the level cap is the thing to get as soon as possible. And it is easy to get to 50 quickly in the AE.
Eco.
Though really the why is a combination of many of these things if not all of them and many of them can be addressed in various ways.
Quote:Personally I would like to see AE unlocked at level 50 just like VEATS where. I do not mind people farming or being PL'd, I do however have issues with new players being groped into into AE for a fast lvl 50 and then having no real clue of how to play the game in general.
I must admit, I did love playing the game at lower levels and it actually meant something getting my first lvl 50. People miss out on the lower content, the fun of actually teaming with others and running from the hospital back to the mission! Oh, how I miss the old hollows! For me the game really starts around L26-30. You get most of your powers and have slots by then, the stories get more interesting and are varied enough you may not have seen them all compared to L1-20. Interestingly enough I'm looking forward to the revamp to see if it rekindles enjoyment of the early levels with Freedom.

Quote:We've only been asking for this since Oro was introduced...really wish they'd add them in there. The one "longstanding issue" I'd like to see addressed is a means at level 50 of doing mayhem or safeguard missions from other outleveled brackets. Require me to first complete a level 46-50 mission, but at a certain point, please give me a selection menu to say do the Atlas or Kings Row missions, etc.
And level cap me as well for those lowbie missions. Fine. But make them more available to players than they are currently. -
Quote:Was it that late? Damn I seem to remember it being around issue 14 not 18Inside ball: the beta server is an internal test server that was repurposed for I18 closed beta testing and continued on as the closed beta server. The hardware itself may have been reallocated from test farms, but "The Beta Server" as we know it has only existed since a bit before I18 closed beta.
At one point a long while back there were multiple shards added to the test farm to test things like markets and global chat things, but Beta is a completely different server farm, capable of running a completely separate game build from the test farm and the live farms.Yeah I remember the various shards they had on "test" for awhile when doing market testing and stuff.
Yes I do know that Beta is entirely separate from test in regards to builds and being its own server farm
Thanks for the updated info. -
Quote:I can see it now....On a slightly different topic, I spoke with a friend of mine a couple of days ago, and uncharacteristically defended the F2P model to him. My main argument then was the same as it is now - that F2P shouldn't have to rely on grinds so much. With a subscription-based game, the biggest thing the game wants to make you do is play as long as possible. For this, developers employ sometimes very malicious time sinks so that you don't get through their game too fast and cut your subscription. One need look no further than the time singularity that is the Incarnate system for a clear example of what a time sink looks like.
But F2P games don't really care how long you play, or shouldn't, at the very least. What they care about is how much you are willing to spend, preferably in quick succession. What this means, at least to me, is that F2P games should end up being less focused on bogging players down into a grind and more focused on enthralling the player and getting him into a mood to buy. Where classic MMOs have traditionally treated us with tough love, F2P MMOs should end up pampering us, as they don't have our running subscription, but must instead continually coerce us to keep pressing that "Buy now!" button over and over again. It should mean games will become less punishing.
