Yes the notice of the well is given automatically along with the bonus merits. No you won't get an incarnate shard as a reward.

    • Do STF/LRSF
    • Get Reward Table
    • Choose Reward (incarnate component, merits, s/ho)
    • Gain bonus merits
    • Gain notice of the well if you have incarnate unlocked.

A lot of your boost comes from slotting Maneuvers more heavily and having it running, but I would be reluctant to do that except at level 50 with the Cardiac boost. Yours has less end recovery as well, so I would rather worry about how well that would do as you level up and don't have a Cardiac boost assisting you. Consume is nice, but it can only make up for so much. I know my original build can keep going constantly without Maneuvers going (and using Consume on at least one target), so I'm fairly sure that the heavy end use of Maneuvers would affect that.

But you should certainly come up with the build you want for your characters... mine are just pictures of what you can do and what has worked for me on a modest budget (and adjustments from an original build I made several years ago).
Yes I agree that the kin combats are not cheap and the best way to get them seems to be a-merits as 2 of them are only 1 a-merit each, the other 2 are 2 a-merits each and 1 isn't for sale with a-merits.

While you don't get fantastic numbers it's better then only 3 mako in a power

Yeah the endurance recovery is a tad less but the +end proc should make up for some of that the eps isn't much less from 164 to 171..something like 3.27 compared to 3.31 or so

consume would only come back a fraction faster. not something you'd really notice id think but I do agree great power to use as often as needed when its up.

I think I had the def/end and def/end/rech in maneuvers which does help to keep the cost down a bit compared to just a def or def/end in it. of course as you pointed out a cardiac at L50 makes everything nicer as far as end consumption goes.

Anyway it was just an alternative idea to see if it was possible to boost the +def a bit without really sacrificing what you already head, which is very nice.

Thank you again for the guide.
  5. 1 hour is a bit excessive for a rez that doesn't do any damage or debuffs foes on rez. Heck the Temp Rez power from the winter event does damage and is only 30 min refresh. 30 min would be much better then 1 hour.

The auctionhouse access is really cool.

  8. Hey there Grey Pilgrim!

    Great guide!

I was messing around with your defensive build and had a few minor tweaks. Not sure if it's really better...though you do end up with a bit more defense.

You get almost 30% s/l defense, almost 29% melee, 25% ranged and 23% aoe and your recharge time goes up to 25%. Regen boosts to 190% from 180% but you lose some recovery...164% down from 171% and you lose 2 pts off of s/l resistance but are still above 65% by a few points and you do gain a couple more points of max endurance.

The original build had almost 21% s/l defense, almost 26% melee, 23.4% ranged and 22.1% aoe...as a quick comparison.

here's the data chunk if you're interested....

Why would you think that? Once you're softcapped that's pretty much it. If you're not softcapped then it could help by a few percentage points getting you to the cap.

The ability to save a base design out to a text file or binary file just like costumes so that you could reimport it into the upgraded base designer, then you could go thruogh and delete desks and put in real second level floors etc...

one would think so but if a recipe isn't available then price is irrelevant. Can't buy what doesn't exist.
  12. If the Devs don't have time / don't care to even touch up current bases / add anything new to current bases then they surely won't have the amount of time to do something like this, no matter how nice it might be.

I just don't get the rancor about this particular point. It's a red herring. If you don't want to pay 500K for common salvage, nothing requires that you do so. You can just run regular missions and salvage drops like mana from heaven. Save it in the bank, your base or in market slots. If that's too slow for you, spend a few minutes in AE, get tickets, roll randomly for the level of salvage you want for 8 tickets a pop.

If players simply boycotted high-cost common salvage and rolled their own instead of paying 500K each, the price would drop to reasonable values within hours. It's really that simple.

But obviously a large number of people don't think 500K is too much, and just pay the man the money to get their overpriced salvage NOW! Think of this as a laziness tax, and not price gouging, and you'll feel much better.

And about buying items from vendors:

There are very few things in the game that can't be bought outright with reward merits, alignment merits or AE tickets. Basically, only Hamidon Origin enhancements and certain inspirations.

Many people are saying they don't really care how much things would cost from vendors, they just want the option to buy stuff at a fixed price. But we already have that option right now (with merit vendors on every street corner and the Crucible and Fort Trident). And people are still complaining.

So, here's the thing: if the devs made everything available at vendors the prices would certainly be much, much higher than what you can get them for on the market. This is based simply on the fact that the merit prices are so high. The 200+ merits that rare recipes sell for would probably take you weeks of running regular missions to accrue.

The problem with the market really seems to be that some people don't like to see other people do something they perceive as wrong, and want to put a stop to this evil. I'm all for stomping out evil, but the only people who are being hurt by overpriced common salvage are those who are too impatient to take a few minutes to get it themselves.
    Couple things here.

    1. Not everyone likes or can do task forces which is the only major supply of merits
    2. not all recipes are for sale with a-merits though most are
    3. trying to get a single purple set (6 items) with amerits through just missions would take over half a year of real world time. The time to outfit a toon with just amerits, even without purples is insanely long in a game.
These things need to be taken into account when talking about the market. It's not as simple as "I'll just go spend 400 merits" or whatever.

Or when I craft a hundred recipes at a time I can sit in my base and save myself countless loading screens.

And there are other uses as well, those are just the two obvious ones for me. Others uses will vary.
Maybe not. The AE slash command to bring up the AE interface doesn't work in bases, so this one may not work in bases either.

On another note. This will be nice to have, can't wait. Sadly due to a billing error that I didn't catch in time I'm now 1 month behind where I should be on vet rewards and that is so irritating!.

I think this is an extremely poor design that goes against the ingame excuse as to why your incarnate "powers" don't work below L45. If the Well is going to pass out favor then it would only pass it out for only the greatest of tasks (L50 task forces) and not some piddly crap like stopping some dam from blowing up or whatnot.

If the devs want to force people to do low level task forces for Well favors then they can let the alpha slot work at all levels. It's foolish that you're supposed to become this greater thing and yet when you go to help some lowbie you're suddenly Mr Gimp!. Bad form.

Slotting Nerve Radial Boost added more than 2% defense to my build and puts me a little over 46%. The net effect is a drop in incoming damage of about 20%, and I get some free accuracy.

Its temporary to be sure, although given what I have to do to replace it, temporary might be a significant temporary. Nevertheless, I do think Nerve is the least attractive of all of them. Damage is at least the default: no one can fail to benefit from more damage. The mistake I think was in not realizing that while Accuracy, Damage, Recharge, and Endurance reduction are the big four most commonly used enhancements (the anchors for the four Alpha variants) Accuracy can be saturated. Damage and recharge cannot be, and Endurance reduction is common, but almost never slotted to the ED soft cap. Given that, Accuracy should have been paired up with significant qualitative bonuses that are nice to have but rarely taken. Cardiac and Nerve should probably trade range and defense and fear and taunt. End/Def/Res/Taunt makes more sense, and Accuracy/Range/Hold/Fear makes more sense. I can see why they might have wanted to split them up, but the more I think about it the more I believe that split up just ends up devaluing both relative to Recharge/Heal and Damage/Recovery, and it weakens the sense of power progression through the individual trees.
Pretty much agree with you there , though I do like the recharge / heal on my bs/shield I'd much rather have end red / heal boost instead. I find my corr want's the end red also (ice/dark - really piggy) and the fear boost is ok the dmg resist is ok, but nothing in any of the trees really excites me for her build and I don't need the damage/accuracy due to sets. End / Heal would have been even nicer for her. Widow went end red due to, well being a widow as they're very piggish on endurance and some of the sets are weak in that area. They're all kind of meh as they are now imo and I'll be hunting for the level shift and what may boost something secondary outside of the main boost.

  21. The whole system is unknowingly set up to choke supply in the mid range and every release the devs do compounds that.

    1. Incarnate content that can only be run by 50's.
    2. More Incarnate slots to fill coming in every issue from now on.
    3. People power-leveling up to get to the new L50 shinies
    4. Incarnate abilities not functioning when exemping down below L45

Point 1, 2 & 3 cause a derth in mid level recipes as no mid level toons are being run.

Point 4 causes a dearth because there's even less incentive to sk down, compared to sking someone up, as you lose your new shiny abilities and recipes aren't being generated at the lower sk level (assuming they generate like someone sk'ing up gets higher level recipe drops).

This is why they should do away with IO levels and just have them scale with your current combat level and just have all recipes/salvage drop at all levels.

I see complaints about the drop rate of Incarnate Shards, purples, and any other thing that you get while you're playing, and I can't for the life of me figure out why it is so important that people get these things.

Try something real quick: Think back to when you first started playing the game, and why. I can guarantee that, whatever your reason for playing the game was, it did not involve purple drops or Incarnate Shards. In fact, I would go so far as to say you started playing the game because it was fun.

Now, when I read the forums, it seems that for a lot of people, the amount of fun they have is directly connected to the amount of rewards they get while playing.

Look at anything else you do for enjoyment. Lets say you enjoy bowling, for example. When you go out bowling with your friends, you're going out for the express purpose of going bowling. Having fun while bowling is it's own reward. You don't get upset that you didn't get a trophy for it, you had fun bowling and that was the point of doing it.

Why are video games, and MMOs in particular, so different? You would think that it would be the same. If you go bowling to have fun, why wouldn't you play video games for the same reason?

But I see a lot of people saying that they are playing to get the rewards associated with it, and complaining when they feel that they aren't getting them fast enough. That would be the same thing as going bowling and getting upset that you didn't get a trophy at the end of the night.

What happened to the fun? Why do people feel the need to be rewarded for entertaining themselves? You don't expect a reward from watching TV or a movie. You don't expect a reward for playing catch with your son (or dad, as the case may be). You don't epect a reward for going bowling, or hanging out with your friends. In all of those activities you do to entertain yourself, the fun you have while doing it IS the reward.

Why is a video game so different?
    Some answers

    1. Devs added rewards so that is now the focus. Blame them.
    2. ALL games have a reward from monopoly to world of warcraft, even if it's just winning.
    3. Watching Tv/Movies has zero competition to it, so there is no "winning", unlike any game, even solitaire.
    4. You do expect a reward for bowling, you expect to win or do better then you did before. Bowling is a competition oriented pastime, unlike playing catch with your son, or reading a good book.

On a slightly more serious note... Rewards in the game give people something to look forward to and to strive after. It keeps people subscribed because otherwise far, far more people would have left out of boredom and canceled their accounts instead of paying 15 bucks a month to not play a game because they might enjoy it again for a few hours sometime in the future. If the game were free to play, that might be another story. With a monthly fee the game itself becomes a revenue generator and must be maintained, that means ways to engage people's interests and keep them paying for playing. Adding a shiny to chase after is an easy way to do this.
