As for the image of Statesman, it would be interesting to see how people would react if another super hero, not from video games, was placed in his spot in the trailer. The two heroes who leap to mind are Superman, whose battle cry used to be for "Truth, Justice and the American Way", and Captain America.

If either of those more famous fictional figures had been used, the general public would think: "Wait a minute, Superman and Captain America are... bad?"

Hmm... the drink emote thing is a great idea. Maybe we could all form Cuppa Clone heroes just for the event.

I too, am mostly a lurker, but find the community informative, and generally good-natured. A large portion of the credit for that goes to CuppaJo, because she set the tone.

Agreed, this is BY FAR the best thread for testing of the PPPs.

I haven't done PvP much, but I logged in a week ago, and a dominator and brute from my SG are in Warburg. They are begging me to come with my ice/cold corrupter. I logged into TeamSpeak and replied.

"Um, I don't PvP, but I'll give it a shot."

They are doing pretty well and then a couple of stalkers show up. One stalker (without tp) runs in an AS"s Crabgrass, our dominator.

Then, I hit snowstorm, infrigidate, and benumb as the stalker starts to crawl away. Add sleet, and start blasting. The stalker goes down, and I was hooked. All fun and no debt, I could really get into this!

Later, the stalker realize I'm more of a threat than the others. I get AS'd and then I know I need to change tactics. I start cycling Sleet and Ice Storm while I stand in both rains to keep from getting AS'd. When I'm in a down turn for the cycle, I'm feeling really vulnerable, but instead of running I hold my ground. Sleet comes up and I drop it at my feet, then quickly swing the camera around to check my surroundings.

*Pop* Both stalkers on the other team were right behind me! I was actually laughing I was so giddy at having caught them. They both got away, but seeing their outlines appear and then watching them fade into view and run was a lot of fun.

When one, (... Blade, I wish I could remember!) used the AFK trick to lure me in for the AS of his team mate, I congratulated them both. I felt stupid, but it was a lot of fun.

Didn't have time to read the entire thread, so I hope this is original.

Ha, ha, ha. Oh, man that was great, truly a signature-worthy comment there. (It has the ring of a cliche about it, but it's new to me.)

Still, this is the first I've heard of the novel. With Top Cow taking over the comic and a novel, it seems that City of Heroes is here to stay for a long while. That almost makes me nostalgic for all the DOOOOOOOOOOM! threads that used to profilerate these boards.

The best part about this is the OP's amazing memory. To be honest, I'm not sure if he is writing in hindsight, or this journal was something he did all along, and is now just posting.


I'm really compelled to keep reading, but in a few journal entries, Martial Master will be of a higher level than my main, and I'll have to stop.

Oh, and if anyone deserves a guest spot in an upcoming comic, it's Martial Master, the Zen Chronicle of Paragon!

I really have a hard time thinking Spectral Terror alone is overpowered, mainly because I also have a level 23 Dark Defender, who can control very effectively with Fearsome Stare, which makes mobs cower. In other words, if ST is overpowered, then other fear effects are also overpowered.
From the evidence, the Devs do not seem to think Fear is overpowered, just ST. Other fear effects have been left alone (Terrify, Fearsome Stare) but ST has been changed to cause scattering.
It seems to me that it is the combination of ST, PA, and Phantasm that is overpowered. It's the only reason why I can imagine ST was altered.
