Quote:Yeah I've been mentally working out the details of some CoH fiction between several characters of mine all interacting and explaining their stories and backgrounds... Now that's all dead.I was getting ready to work on a CoH fiction project involving new and old characters. Now I'll be spending time making up a brand new setting to put them into as well as restarting other work on my blog, With That She Wrote.
No more MMOs for me. I'm done with them.
I refuse to let my characters die, especially my favorites. But I have no idea where I'm going to take them. -
I'm not playing any other MMOs. I didn't enjoy WoW, Aion, GW, RO, GE, or CO. I have no idea where I'm going to go now.
Mostly I don't know what to do with my modern-day themed characters, or Arachnos-inspired characters. I just can't take characters like these to some medieval fantasy setting game.
Where is everyone going? I'd like some ideas and some discussions on what games offer what. -
Since the game is shutting down, there are a lot of people I'm going to have to scramble to keep in contact with. If anyone wants me:
AIM: Dispari Scuro
YIM: dispariscuro@yahoo.com
Skype: dizzy_dispari
FurAffinity: Dispari
Steam: DispariScuro
Furcadia: Dispari Scuro
(yes I'm a furry)
Everyone ought to post whatever info they're comfortable sharing, so we can keep up with eachother once this place is gone. -
Currently thinking of:
Rosaline Ryder
AKA Coyote Rose
AKA Rosie Ryder
AKA Rose Rider -
Quote:Another good reason to change it.If that is supposed to be Tsalagi (Cherokee) then the phonetic spelling would be Wa ya ha.
Waya would translate to Wolf not coyote.
I think I've settled on Rosaline for the first name (with the nickname of Coyote Rose). I like Baker and Whaler for last names. What's Johanna Baker in reference to? -
Haha. Some of these are adorably cute. I am trying to find something that's just a first and last name though, that sounds like it fits in the old west. Less action phrases and mentioning of her being a coyote.
I'm fond of Coyote Rose though. Maybe her first name should be Rose? Or Rosaline! -

I made a char when Time came out and then kinda lost interest. But got back into her now since we got all the coats and pants from costume packs. She's a DP/Time chain-smoking gunslinger natural speedster coyote girl. That's a mouthful.
Here are some pics:
Her name is currently Anne Waya. But I have a bunch of transfers and stuff and I want to rename her. I want her to have a nice western sounding name like Calamity Jane, Annie Oakley, or Laura Bullion. Something that just has a nice strong ring to it that might also be nicknameable would be the best. Anyone have any suggestions? -
That's actually Ms. 27,000 posts. But your decision is wise.
It used to be $15 bought you the game and powersets. Then you started having to pay $10 for costumes too.
These days your $15 still pays for the game and powersets. Except some powersets cost extra. But now costumes cost less. And the real kicker is you get a free $5 every month to spend on stuff. So in theory you don't have to "buy" costumes and powersets if you pace yourself. And overall, I've found the flow of costume parts to be much more acceptable.
But when we start complicating it with random factors like item packs and other stuff that's where it can get iffy. It used to be more straightforward. Pay $15 to play, and $10 for costumes. The places they hide things these days though are like an Easter Egg hunt.
In theory you could put your $5 toward super boosters. But I'd rather get predictable returns and just buy costume packs. -

Quote:On that subject, as someone with a lot of trans friends it shouldn't be something that offends people. Guys can wear skirts if they want. I always hated the "not suitable for children" thing. What you really mean is it's not suitable for you and you'd like to shield (your) children from it. But kids are going to get exposed to that stuff at some point regardless of your attempt to censor it. Transgender people exist in real life and your kid is probably going to run into one at some point. You can't censor real life. Well, you could but it involves a pit, a basket of lotion, and a flexible definition of "home schooling."I can not tell you how strongly I disagree with this. regradless of the context this kind of "not suitable for children" mentality for trans dressing is...
... well, it angers me.
But from a business standpoint, people should realize that the appeal for guys having high heels and corsets is a very small minority and would not pay for its development time. It's not that practical to ask the dev team to spend time giving guys purely women's clothes.
Asking them to give men's clothes to women though is pretty basic stuff. It's a lot more prevalent in society. I'm wearing pants right now. I'll be glad to gain some new pants from the Gunslinger pack. -
-
If you took away things like skirts and high heels I would be very angry. Arcanaville addressed this already, but not doing any more gender-specific items just changes the complaints.
-
I'd unsub for a while in protest of this, if I wasn't already subbed through June.
I'm waiting for news that 100% of the items in the packs can be purchased separately without any gambling involved. Wake me when it happens. -

I don't know why Dink thinks she's not as sexy as Jay was. In 5 posts she's already upstaged his entire career.
(Good job, keep up the good work and you'll have lots of friends on the boards here) -
Quote:You don't think it's possible to improve upon a power so that you and more people could be satisfied? And make the company more money?Oh cry me a river. You don't want it? Don't buy it! No one (I hope) is forcing you to.
This is why we cannot have nice things...
This argument you're using could be applied to literally everything that comes out. From now on, the devs don't have to balance or adjust powers again ever. Don't like it? Don't play it!
The argument is that if it was a little more desirable than "worse than NR but neato looking" it may be more popular. It's true some people will be buying it anyway. I don't think that means there's no room for improvement and anyone who doesn't like it as-is can't offer feedback. -
Quote:If you do something to make it slightly more desirable it may be more successful. Right now it's spending 600 points for a Ninja Run that detoggles you. There's no good reason to take it other than aesthetics. I recommend stealth at least. For those asking for lions and tigers and manbearpigs...oh my...
This is just our first foray into the animal-ish travel powers. There's plenty of fertile ground for us to draw material from. Based on the success of the Coyote Travel power, it's fairly likely you'll see other incarnations.
I know you aren't the powers team but maybe you could pass it on. -
Right now it's just a neat looking but inferior beast run. I'm not going to detoggle myself to travel just to get the same move speed I can already get. Without paying an extra 600 points. I notice the feedback thread is gone. So I'll just leave it here: I'm not buying this unless it gets a buff of some kind. Stealth was the most popular suggestion in testing.

Anyone remember when max difficulty was +2/x1?
-
Quote:Dude this is not how math works. You're only comparing the powers at their maximum damage. Which is only 1 in 5 shots for Ion so that's not a fair comparison. No because my in game numbers are showing differently:
Both have a 428.36 damage,
Ion has a 20% chance of an extra 160.63 dmg
Pyronic is 80% chance per tick of an extra 21.42 damage X 6 or 128.52
Ion total damage is 588.99 and Pyronic is 556.88...
+160.63 damage at 20% chance means on average it only adds 32.126 damage. That's 160.63/5. Or in other words, 20% of the time you do +160.63 and 80% of the time you do +0.
Ion Core does 460.486, not 588.99. It would only do 588.99 if the bonus damage was 100%. Also, Pyronic does 531.176. -
-maxHP scales any damage done. So it doesn't matter whether it's applied before or after.
Right now it's pretty nerfed on AVs though due to capping at -150 HP regardless of how high their max HP is. -
Quote:You know what's great is whoever bought that still has to buy another one if they want to have the pistol in both hands.Just some FYI on this...
I just got this drop. It was in the middle of the TPN, and not the end. I was not fighting Maelstrom at the time, but was outside on telepathist duty.
Not being able to craft it for Zube, and having no dual-pistols characters, I sold it at WW's. I got 970,000,000 for it (77 million fee)
Previous sales records were:
150,000,000
400,000,000
350,000,000
Only 4 have ever sold.
You can only do that if you're already level 50. If you want it on a sub-50 character or someone who hasn't run any trials you'll have to buy the recipe. -
Quote:Hey, don't go overboard now. I never said I was "unwilling to do so;" in fact if you read the OP I said I did try to answer their question once I realized why they were asking me.Yeah, but mate why use the title if you are basically unwilling to do so? IDK it just seems strange that someone with helper on would think its strange to get a lot of help request. Especially with all the new people coming to the game or coming back from years away.
And I don't get "a lot of help request," it's the very first time I ever got asked a question since the system launched.
When it did launch I expected to get asked questions, and never did. This encounter wasn't the result of an unwillingness to help. I was totally thrown off guard by someone actually trying to use the system for its intended purpose.
