Could it also be somone auto completing a mission while down in the tunnels?

Quote:That defintly needs a changeI think I have a legitimate beef here. Below is a cut and paste directly from the NCsoft support website. NOWHERE does it mention a 30 day deletion window.
Quote:Unlike most chat messages, Email messages will not be lost unless they are deleted by the recipient, or the sender is placed on Ignore -
I have to ask why this wasnt mentioned before, like in the description about email in i17.
I'm glad you are working on making sure its known do the playerbase.
Secret limits that delete goodies is not fun. -
There is now at least an annoucement about it: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=225117
-
Normal emails last a lot longer than 30 days though. I expected similar rules for mail with attachments, as not psyhic enough to know there would be a difference.
-
I doubt the prompt was put back due to vocal complaints. Much more likley it was put back becasue it was meant to be there (insert dev reasoning) and was only removed as a short gap measure while they fixed the issue.
-
Quote:They need to have the information easily available, like the page that intro'd the email features, mentions some limitions (no hero/villian, 20 mail limit) but not this important one - that mails get deleted. Should be in the ingame help menu. And again that's why I came back and added that edit to my original post. They need to make a special effort to make the players aware of that rule, and then make sure there is something in game that explains it to future new players.
They can't force people to read the rules but they damn sure better be certain the information is available where anyone can read it.
Couldnt find the patch note with information about it. Couldnt search the dev digest for it (is there a trick for searching dev digest?).
Expecting the average player to have searched through patche notes is unrealistic. -
Quote:I'll have to make sure i do log in every 30 days, and make sure everythings clear before holidays. Though I'll still lose something if someone sends me mail if I'm away for a month. If you are getting emails from other people you should be opening them as soon as you get them or the next time you login if you were offline.
If you are sending an email to yourself you will know when you sent it.
I have made no record of times of sent email to myself. Not having any idea I needed to.
Thanks master blade, that makes it managable to know when times up.
(edited out I'll have to add a date too, as I guess by your answer, Ghump mail doesnt date stamp it)
Its like a throw back to the 30 day market wipe rule. Silly restrictions when theres a limit of 20 mails anyhow.
Glad it was posted though as would of had no idea and http://www.cityofheroes.com/news/gam..._overview.html mentions nothing about that limit. Where the heck is the limit amount hidden away so I can let others know? -
Do emails have a date stamp? Or do we need to guess when it was sent?

Quote:The voting system might be too much dev work <shrugs unknowingly>I have a solution.
Let's say I inherited a SG, however do not care for the name. I go to the City Hall Register and plop down the (inf) or heck even rl money for the change and enter the name I wish for the SG
Now for the next two weeks when a member logs in (1 vote per global account), they are prompted with an option to "vote" Yes, or No on the name change / new name I choose.
Votes are to be tallied then by the amount of time/prestige that global account has earned that SG.
After two weeks time if enough votes have been cast in favor the new name goes into effect, if the majority says no then the money is refunded back to me and the name remains the same!
(Also I would love to see the mission computer converted into some sort of Bullitan Board System for the SG)
But the mission computer or something else left so we could leave messages would be fantastic. -
There are a lot of names you cant have in game that are okay in forum, particularly generic bait superhero names (and avatars too I guess)

Quote:Sorry, I should of said I hope that future contests are more global, Forgot that this was open to residents of Europe and US which is an improvement, but had put it from my mind as little difference to me as I live in Australia and wasn't eligable. Not sure if you noticed, but the first winner in this contest is from Scotland.
There was no mention of US residency being a requirement for this particular contest either, so hopefully this is a step towards positive for those of us beyond the oceans for future events!
Many congratulations to all the winners, them's some fine arts. Looking forward to seeing them in-game.
(As an aside, what about the Sheep one as an unlockable chest icon for the mega-resistant?)
-
Many Grats - they look fantastic
Quote:If it does become more regular, please make it so non US people can join in.Very cool. Props to all the winners.
Will this be a more regular thing, being able to contribute artwork that might possibly be able to be added to the game in this fashion? Perhaps as a way for SGs to personalize their bases more, for example?
Maybe we could come up with more fake billboards that can be displayed around Paragon City/Rogue Isles, like a competitor to Up and Away Burger, or something. -
Disregard most of the strawmen and the amount of contravesry drops remarkably.
-
Quote:Okay... I'm stepping away from any further converstation. Tired of having you build strawmen, adding stuff to what I am saying. This last spiel of yours has only glancing touches of reality in it.Because they didn't lie. At the time, there were NO PLANS for incentives at retail stores. This changed later when Gamestop expressed interest in a promotion for Going Rogue, and NCSoft/Paragon Studios saw the value in using it as a way to attract NEW CUSTOMERS, something that people constantly ***** about that NCSoft isn't doing enough of. This is why the new enhancements are designed specifically with new people in mind.
Not only that, AT NO POINT did they ever say that they would never do any other promotions, just that there were no plans to. (And plans can change). So, the information they gave in the beginning was correct and honest. There was no misinformation, no lies, no secret Nemesis plot to screw us. You don't like it? Fine. You feel dissapointed? That's fine as well. But you wern't lied to, screwed over, or any of that other [censored] people want to claim, so get over it for gods sake.
If you can't understand that "The Complete Collection will not be available for prepurchase, nor are there any incentives for preordering it at retail. " means to most people that there aren't any incentives to preordering, and that people will feel tricked by that when it gets changed, well, then that's a pretty deliberate act of ignorance so you can rant semi coherently at people.
Honestly it's too hard to sort out your rage issues from your hyperbolic and ridiculous discussion ummm lets call them methods. The tone from your writing is nearly frothing at the mouth with the all caps and the **** & all the rest. I think you need to get over (for gods sake!) that people can have a different viewpoint to you without all the masked profanity and trying to make them out to be parnoid crazies seeing nemenis plots.
I'm out of this thread as I'm sure you are just going to scream the same stuff again. -
eeek, its going to cost another $30 for postage if I wanted to buy it ):
-
Quote:Why do people insist on adding to what red names say.... "Only the separate City of Heroes Going Rogue expansion will be available for prepurchase. The Complete Collection will not be available for prepurchase, nor are there any incentives for preordering it at retail "No developer said that. It was an OCR member that said something similar. (I think Niviene? I am too lazy to go looking in the announcements forum.) They said there were NO PLANS for preorder bonuses. They NEVER EVER said there would NEVER EVER be preorder bonuses. Why do people insist on misrepresenting what the rednames said?
So thats why I feel tricked!
Still the correct busniess desicon, but maybe you can acknowldge you got it wrong about it being a "at this time' plan thing. -
Quote:NO.You keep trying to bring morality into a business decision that has nothing to do with ethics or morality.
You jumped into another post of mine quoting arcanaville stating that as a highly ethical person she didnt have a problem with it as a decision. Please post a reply to her post that she shouldn't try and bring morality into it. Bet you dont.
If you are going to jump into posts directed to other people, then get it right and stick to the same goal posts.
Sheeeessssh!
Time & time i have said i understand it as a business desicon. But you obviously having more fun to be right or whatever your motivation is for cherry picking debates.
It's okay for me to say that I dont like a decision made by NCsoft.
It's not an abberation for me to feel tricked as I didnt have complete information at time of purchase.
Quote:At the time that they said "there are no plans for preorder bonuses", there were no plans for preorder bonuses. How does morality come into this statement?
Later on down the line, they get an offer they would be stupid to refuse from Gamestop for preorder bonuses. This does not invalidate their previous statement that, at the time of prepurchase release, there were no plans for preorder bonuses. There is no morality in this decision. It's pure business.
YOU are the one trying to assign some kind of moral ambiguity to their decision, when morals have nothing to do with it.
So even though I have restated that a) it was a business desicon, b) they didnt intentionally lie, I'm sure you will ignore it all again and post about how they were offered the deal by gamestop after making that statement. -
Quote:You dont understand how I or others could feel tricked?I don't see how you were "tricked". They gave the incentive of access to two powersets easly if you prepurchased. If you didn't want early access to those two powersets, there was no reason to prepurchase. I haven't bought any version of Going Rogue yet, and I see no reason to hurry.
I would of brought a different product if I wasnt mislead into thinking I had all the information. That leads to a feeling of having been mislead/tricked.
It really amazes me how this can escape you.
As already said, I understand thier business desicon.
I know next time I will have to examine every possible word as per a legal document. -
Quote:Moral most certaintly does not equal word hedging.Uh, they never said they WOULDN'T. They said there were no plans to, at the time. And there weren't. There is a very big difference. One means they went back on their word (tantamount to lying). The other means they changed their minds. They have also said there are no current plans to offer a second preorder bonus through another store. But that doesn't mean "definitely will not make plans", it means "there are no plans RIGHT NOW".
You really dont understand the difference?
I'll repeat that I said they aint highly unethical but its hardly straight forward and honest.
The sensible business desicon was to go with changing from no other preorder perks, to whatthey have done, in responce to when they recieved this offer. -
Quote:So you agree the information given at the time was incorrect/incomplete.Well, as Paragon Studios weren't even aware of this deal when the first GR prepurchase offer was made, that would have been hard
Quote:Originally Posted by ggRose colored glasses were an exclusive item as part of the super secret pre-prepurchase for GR - I'd lend you my pair, but unfortunately, they're a bound item.
Quote:Okay, how was it NOT a fair, open deal? Did NCSoft lie to you? Did they not provide you the bonuses you paid for (Dual Pistols and Demon Summoning) when you pre-purchased Going Rogue? Did they pull a bait-and-switch?
Its hard to call it open information about the buying process when thats not true.
What is so hard to understand about not having all the information equals not being able to make an informaed deiscon? Hearing that there are no plans to include anything else, kinda made me think, that there were no plans to add anything else.
Yes, paragon marketing is now saying that it was changed. And as I understand from teh thread about the first lot of confusion about what you get from what you buy, complete edition doesnt stack on to the prepurchase.
Quote:Originally Posted by LiquidXWhat people have right now is buyers remorse. That's not the same thing as being screwed, or NCSoft being evil, or anything like that. People need to get the hell over it.
Buyers remose is not the same as feeling tricked into buying the wrong product. I'm sure you would rather put your fingers in your ears and chant 'they are calling NC evil' than listen to someone's view though. -
Quote:I would of waited to see what bonues there are too.I pre-bought because they told me there would be no bonuses for pre-ordering, and since I was definately goign to buy it anyway, why not?
If they had said at the time: We might have some bonuses for pre-ordering, I'd probably have waited to see. But they didn't, so I didn't.
If a significant amount of people did that, then thats a significant amount of working capital they got up front to help develop GR that they would not have otherrwise got if they had been more straightforward in their dealings (or had just simply been more organised).
I, as a consumer who gave them some money, feel that they haven't been particular forthright with me, and my feedback is that I'll now question their future marketing afforts in the future.
What would I think would fix this?
a) give everyone who pre-purchased before this announcement the pre-order bonus too, thus making their original statement correct
Or
b) offer refunds for anyone who pre-purchased so that they can choose to pre-order instead, thus removing the percieved damage done by the incorrect information
Or
c) make it so that if someone applys a pre-order code to an account that has GR pre-purchased, some bonus is given (like say, 2 free months gametime) to make up for people having bought it twice.
Or
d) somethigng else that indicates they know that some people are unhappy about this and that they want to make it up to them
If they do any of those then I'll be happy. If they don't then I will be unhappy.
I hope that the codes stack, or are those who prepurchased SoL. -
Quote:Self view of ones own ethics is hardly accurate, and lack of sleep deprivation over making a shakey ethical desicon doesnt imply it was the right choice.I consider myself a highly ethical person, and if I was in the room when this offer was proposed I would have voted for it in a second and not lost a moment's sleep over it.
Not staying I think Paragon has been highly unethical but its not excatly a high moral ground to be doing something they said they wouldnt. -
