Ya, thats a great way to do things as well.

Sometimes you can get lucky and find massive differences between a recipe and its crafted IO (even when you factor in salvage and cost to craft) that you can net some serious profit.

To the OP, you are evil and destroying the game! Just wanted to be the first to say that to you, welcome to the Markets

That seems to be the regular sentiment with Auctioneers huh? Why is that anyways?

I'm not over at there house forcing them to undercut an item so foolishly low that it gets snatched up at that price, and then I sell it around regular price thus making 500% return...

Its not my fault I have patience and they want a quick buck.

I'm not making them DO anything, they put it up at a price they want to sell it at,and I buy it for that price and then I put it up at a price I want to sell it at. Seems like a logical sequence of events to me.

I never really understood that "Auctioneer's are evil" or ebil or whatever's the going joke, haha
  3. Another inspirational post for anyone out there trying to make a few INF for whatever.

The markets in CoX are crazy!

I took a toon to level 41, by that time I was just rocking regular SO's and I think I had about 4M influence, the fun level for that build dropped and I rolled another toon and just for the hell of it I wanted to see what i could turn that 4M into by just playing the market, he's now a full time auctioneer.

I bought things that moved fast(or there was alot of) and put a bid price in really low and waiting a few days (I do this with salvage) or buying a craftable recipe for cheap, crafting it and after the cost of mats and the price to actually craft it, selling it for a 300% profit or more....

To be honest, Im not even trying hard its just something I do every now and then, or I'll do a bunch of transactions if I know I wont be on for a few days.

I turned that 4M into currently 307M in about 3ish weeks, not an insane rate as some people can churn out, but for doing almost NOTHING but spending a few mins shifting through the market.

My only tip really, is patience. Have plenty of it, so many people will toss up a 100K item for much, much less, and then you can go around and sell it for 95K, that it almost feels criminal. Almost.

Keep in mind this I did this without reading anything here in the market place, but hanging around here has given me a few more ideas.

Basically, If I can do it, you can do it.

    Best of luck.

    Stone/WP

Right on, sounds like alot of fun to be honest and I already enjoy it it will be nice to see what I'm capable of with it as I already have a generally good understanding of my limitations with SS/INV

    Thanks everyone.

    Stone/WP

    Thanks for the input!

Any powers I should skip over?

    Stone/WP

Was Curious if anyone has any input on this build? My SS/INV brute is now into farm mode thanks to the help from Dsorrow with some input from Tangler and I now find myself moving onto another powerset.

I pretty much only play red side with a few exceptions (my Earth/Storm Troller and my AR/ICE auctioneer, lol)

I figured it'd be alot of fun to play (who doesn't enjoy beating things with large rock mallets?) and with WP being a solid secondary anyways, its win win right?

Any comments from people who have one/tried one
    Pros?
    Cons?

and do you need stamina with a WP brute? maybe with Stone as its an end pig? (maybe I'm wrong?)

I'm pretty sure it all boiled down to the doomsaying that "archetype X is going to replace archetype Y come Going Rogue". People claimed corruptors were going to replace defenders. Vigilance was buffed recently. They claimed brutes were going to replace tankers. Tankers got a HP buff and the Bruising effect. Brutes got a Fury nerf.
I don't really have anything to contribute since it was already said, except these two points are my exact thoughts behind the matter.
  8. Awesome thanks guys, Really helped me out!

    Thanks for your time
  9. Thank you for your time, I appreciate it.

I guess after shifting some things around I have about 30M infamy right now, but my auctioneer has about 260M on him(selling things on the market) once going Rogue hits I'll have access to that on my brute, but that's not to say I won't go farming for things, that's the whole point of these end builds to aspire to something right?

    Few questions,

Why boxing? I like jabs cheap disorient, cant tell you how many times I've tabbed and jabbed something in the face to have it stagger around and then tab back to what I was fighting

Also why no Unstoppable, I think its a pretty good "Oh crap button" also good for tanking certain heroes.

I guess I don't really understand the slotting either, what is a SS/INV brute looking for? Defence/DMG and what exactly (recharge/end reduction)?

The ancillary power pools dont really seem that fantastic to me, yet you've taken two. Why? is it for the set bonuses you get from the IO'ing?

Regarding IO'ing wouldnt it be better to have ones that are around lvl 50 and not 10(ish) levels below?

Once again thanks for your time, and thanks for helping me understand.

P.S sorry one more question, I thought having dull pain up as much as possible was the goal, so 3 recharges?
  10. So, as the title says I hit 50 on my SS/INV and its my very 1st 50 (yay!).

That being said, I now need to start looking into this IO stuff. I clearly have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to this, nor do I have any idea what a SS/INV brute should be going for.

I normally play a very offensive defence, if that makes any sense, I sorta just wade in there Foot Stomp to get every ones attention absorb the alpha and then start swinging, as long as it isn't too crazy, or packed with Psi based mobs, I tend to survive, it gets a little wacky when its all purples but I run those with a team so I tend to survive those as well haha.

I posted my build, its just SO's, the powers are picked at the levels I got them, but the slotting is not, so pay no attention to those. Regarding slotting, I had extra slots I had no idea where to put them so I just stuck them various places, I took everything except taunt, hurl and hand clap; as fun as hurl/hand clap can be its just not very useful for my play style (I have them on build 2 slotted with foolish things like +KB in hand clap, just for fun, ahaha)

I realize I might not have the tightest build, and I'm open to suggestions on how to improve it. (despite what some people say I really enjoy Unstoppable)

Lastly, I'm looking for something to aspire too, but I'm not sure If I want to spend the next month farming hardcore to get the Infamy for all the purples, normally dont really see much of a difference between orange and purple but maybe its because I'm a newb to these things.

That being said, I don't mind farming, I just dont know if farming to buy a single 200M enchancement is worth it

Anyways, I think I talked too much as is, much appreciated for your time and help

    -Dex

  11. One change is all I really ask for.

    Fix serum
  12. Awesome guide I just made a WS the other day, and wanted to make a tri-form, but was a bit miffed because of the wasted slots before Nova, never thought of respec *bonks forehead*
    Brilliant

thanks again for a great guide.
  13. Ya, I totally ment Fighting, not sure why I said fitness, lol, Stamina is a must for this build, got it as soon as I hit 20.

Looks Like I'll have to work in some Tough and weave then... thanks for that!
  14. Thanks for that, I guess I should say DO I need anything from fitness, as I run now, wont those just be a waste as they are not helping me anymore?

Or do I not understand the soft cap at all... lol
  15. Quote:
First of all, like everyone says, Serum is complete and utter sh*t.
This, like everyone else I had to actually find out for myself instead of listening to the forums, its horse apples.

Make the Stealth on Mercs worth SOMETHING.. give them Stealth Snipe or a Critical Hit every once in a while..

And for the love of God reduce the timers on the tear gas and flashbang grenades.

And fix the friggin medic.. he buffs and heals everyone EXCEPT me..
This entire statement makes sense to me

As does everything BookkeeperJay has stated.

This aren't game breaking, overpowered decisions, its just a small and simple tweak to make the job alittle on par with others, not looking to be the king, but I'm sure as hell tired of being the joker.
  16. Dexterity Jones

    Mercs/????

My main is Merc/TA, while 20's are a rough, if you stick it out, you'll love the synergy that the set offers, while you wont be high on the damage list compared to other MM's, with the great debuffing abilities of TA, you'll be doing ok and able to manage quite well.

To be honest, I dont know why everyone is skipping over flash arrow until later.... toss in two -to hit debuffs, and it makes your mercs that much harder to be hit, I took the 1st chance I could.

My attack chain always starts out with my flash arrow, I LOVE IT
Glue arrow, acid and poison, are my primary arrows, I toss out a disruptor/oil/emc arrows as needed depending on the suituation at hand

To be honest, I took every arrow, as I find they all have their uses, as well as aid other, 3 slotted with +heal, and you can heal any of your silly pets.
  17. We'll I took hasten at 30, to help make sure rage is always double stacked so I do not get the -defence, and to also help keep the hits rolling out, even with the rage crash and hasten crash, I really haven't been having end issues, I only start having end issues if I mash foot stomp alot.

Unstoppable for me is a situational power, and If I keep an eye on the icon, as soon as its starts to blink, I usually finish off whatever it is I'm fighting and pull back for a rest. Since its a situational power, I once again don't really have an issue with it, it hasn't gotten me killed yet, haha

I'm thinking of slotting it with one +defence and some +end mods

    Anyways, that's my thoughts

thanks for the guide it was a good read, but didn't really answer the questions I had

Edit: Do I need anything from the fighting pool?
  18. Hello everyone, I'm a quasi-newb, I originally played CoV when it 1st came out (I still have my very 1st character, mercs/ta!)

I'd say about 2 months ago now, I decided to come back (had something like 1044 days unplayed on my MM) and see if anything changed, boy did it ever!

Anyways, I decided to make a brute, I gleened what information I could off the boards, but SS/INV seems to have gone the way of the dinos, in that everyone has already done it by now I'd imagine.

Regardless, I find myself at lvl 38, and I dont really know what to do or where to go from here, my brute only has about 4ish million infamy on him (red side gear never sells I swear), and I believe I've made him pretty alright for just rocking SO's (the whole IO thing is greek to me)

The question is, where do I go from here? How many slots do I put into Unstoppable, what powers do I pick now? Epic power pool? It doesn't really seem to useful to me, maybe Mu for some lightning fun, I could work that into my brute theme somewhere I'm sure.

Anyways here's my Build so far,
