We're you interested in a critique or was there a specific concern?
Also, always a good idea to post both the full build and the data chunk. Easier to verify things loaded properly into each posters Mid's. On my end, there are some odd slotting, which I presume are some sort of translation error. -
Quote:Given the choice between playing a scrapper and playing a brute, I will always chose scrapper, especially since Going Rogue. That's my preference for my playstyle. So Darkest Night would be good to stack the -tohit in Darkest Night with RttC and/or Weaken? So would this then definitely favor the SS/WP or DB/WP Brute over the Scrapper? Or is the -tohit stuff really just that un-essential to your performance lol? Ahh, so far I'm leaning back towards the SS/WP Brute now! lol
Considering Will Power only, ignoring the primary; Will Power will be initially superior on a Brute. At higher levels, the distinction will be unnoticeable outside of APP and external buffs.
Darkest Night would give a Will Power brute considerable advantage over a scrapper. Even so, it doesn't make a case for Weaken combo. You would be better off focusing on adding more defense bonuses into your build. Your defense values will work hand in hand with the ToHit debuffs.
I've played DB/WP to level 50 on both a scrapper and a brute (Pre-GR). Sadly, for me, I really like the character concept for both. If that were not the case, I'd quickly delete the brute. -

Not sure which thread you saw, but Claws/Dark should not have major issues with survivability. Dark Armor is solid for survivability but does have a glaring hole to Energy Damage dished out by pylons. This is easily plugged by IO set bonuses that provide Energy/N. Energy defense.
Claws/DA is arguably one of the strongest Dark Armor scrappers you can build. Claws attacks are generally cheaper on endurance than other Melee choices and easily allow for sets that grant S/L/E/Ne defense bonuses.
Plan out your build using a Hero Planner. You can post those in this thread and folks can make suggestions on how to improve it.
Claws/DA is a solid and very fun set to play. You do need to learn how to play Dark Armor, for which I recommend reading the DM/DA guide in my sig. It's a tad outdated, but most of the information there will give a big let up in understanding Dark Armor. -
Sorry, over looked this thread before now. Hopefully you'll still find my comments helpful.
IMHO, the endurance on your build is completely unmanageable. I've found that as a general rule, you must have a net recovery of 2 EPS to sustain any DM/DA game play. Look at your End Drain and subtract it from your recovery. In your builds that's 2.23 - 1.45 = 0.78 EPS. I'd be surprised if you could finish a single spawn without gobbing down several CaBs and you'd likely need to rest after each spawn. Your build should (and this is relative to your playstyle) allow you to move from spawn to spawn without needing to rest.
Not sure if this was an error or you did it intentionally, but I don't see any slots in Health or Stamina. You really need a slot or two in both powers to help with your endurance management. 3 slotted Rest is not generally recommended.
The build R-Tech posted is a considerable improvement. Not how I would go about it, but should be very effective. R-Tech has basically sacrificed a little bit of Energy/N. Energy defense in exchange for Smash/Lethal. IMHO Energy defense is of greater concern to Dark Armor than Smash/Lethal. R-Tech's build also skips Shadow Maul and CoF, which I refuse to do on my DM/DA builds.
I'm still undecided as to how I'll be changing my build for I19, but here's one version I'm considering. Might give you some ideas.

Quote:So, is the Weaken Combo not generally suggested or used? I thought it would be a really good ability to stack with RttC, which I know has a low debuff value of -3.75%, but stacked with Weaken that'd be almost a 12% to-hit debuff, in aoe. Which isn't awesome, but on top of WP's defenses I thought that'd be pretty appreciateable. No?
Not saying I never use the Weaken combo. Simply saying it's not worth building for or around the Weaken combo. Given the choice between 12% to-hit debuff or additional damage, I'll generally chose damage.
12% to-hit debuff may sound like a lot, but it's very situational. It's only useful in large spawns as smaller spawns would be better served by out right "arresting" via Attack Vitals. Then there is the pesky matter of needing to successfully hit your targets. All this before taking into account that to-hit debuffs are frequently resisted and/or overcome by many mobs at higher levels.
I'm a big fan of to-hit debuffs, but unless you have the ability to constantly apply and stack them, it's just not an efficient way to go as a scrapper. Hence everyone was disappointed to learn we didn't get Brute epics. -
Quote:I get what you're saying, Esch, but I don't completely agree. And we need this why exactly? Personalized wikis really don't serve any purpose except to give insecure folks a reason to think they are important. We've got this section of the CoH boards. That should be enough for any server... and yes, I'm looking at YOU Virtue :/
When I was an avid comic collector, one of my favorite things were the Character guide issues that were printed in alphabetical order and just gave readers a nice summary of who the character was and his/her accomplishments/failures and such. As characters crossed over into titles you collected, you could be familiar with them without having to collect their respective books.
A lot of folks on Victory have rather interesting characters. Many have rather elaborate backgrounds. The in game ID screen don't provide enough room. While I can certainly keep most my character straight in my head, I can't always which planet a specific bug may have come from. Sometimes, it would be nice to be able to access a convenient place to read up on said bug's princess, whose name I may not remember. -
Quote:It depends on what you are trying to do with the character. Scrappers generally want to be able to solo anything and to do so requires a solid single target attack chain. On Dual Blades, Blinding Feint + Attack Vitals is the most effective way to dish out single target damage.... but you said that you went with mostly a single target attack chain utilizing Attack Vitals. Is that the most recommended way to build DB?
Building around Blinding Feint + Attack Vitals does not require you give up the other attack chains. My DB/WP scrapper took every DB attack except Confront. I team as often as I solo, so get mileage out of those AoE attack chains when teaming, but shift back to the ST chain to take out bosses and AVs.
Quote:I was thinking that stacking Weaken with RttC's debuff might be nice, but that wouldn't be the greatest Single Target chain. -
guess I'll make a Psi/EM blaster?

Quote:I get how a open source works, but that seems detrimental to what you want to do, no?Yep. That's the idea of a Wiki. It is supposed to function like an encyclopedia comprised of shared knowledge, but you can make your own for whatever you'd like. So, feel free to dive in there ;-)
Hypothetically, not that anyone on Victory would ever do this, say you write out a detailed bio. With this set up, can't anyone just come in and delete or alter that bio completely?
-
I'd like the last spot.

Quote:Hows this work? I'm new to wikis, but I like the idea. Just create a page?
The whole thing seems TOO open to me. -
Quote:Both SGU and Caprica were supposed to be character driven. The truth is, the only reason anyone watches either show was for the concept. Ironically, SG1 and BSG were more character driven then either of these follow up shows. Even the flawed characters in BSG were likeable, Gaius Baltar anyone? Heck, even Baul was more likeable then most of these folks. You can have jerk characters or people that aren't perfect, but if you can't make them someone for the audience to connect to, that's bad.
...at least Sanctuary is living up to my expectations. -
Iggy builds...must check out.
2nd build looks unplayable to me. I tried something similar on my DM/DA but found the endurance manageable.
1st build won't import properly on mine. How did you slot Health and Stamina? -
Desmodas Siazar would probably say the following to me:
- I'm ok with you staring at my back side for hours one end, and yes I'm ok with running around half naked with only my Dark Armor powers to protect me. I'm mostly ok with running into impossible scenarios you like to test me with, but for the love Atlas can you switch my costume to something more modest when we're in the sewers...or the snow...or anything involving tentacles. It's really not a lot to ask.

Quote:I wasn't old enough to see it in theaters, but old enough to see the hype the films generated for years afterward, particularly in arcade games.I'm ancient enough to have seen the original Tron in theaters so this new movie has a lot to live up to as far as I'm concerned. Obviously it's going to be vastly superior in terms of the CGI and overall appearance, but the original actually had a pretty solid story and this new movie needs to live up to that.
At this point, the film is generating a great deal of hype. IMHO, it's in danger of reaching Star Wars Phantom Menace level hype, where expectations will be so high, the film can't help by disappoint. Typically, when that happens, so much info about the film is revealed, you walk out of the theater feeling, but I already saw this movie. -
I completely refuse to watch anything Tron related...until after I've seen the movie.
-
Quote:Don't get me wrong, I like SGU. I feel the show has potential, but I believe they need to hurry up and start displaying that potential.I disagree on the SGU front.
Everett and Rush aren't "Bad guys." They are just very flawed guys. The both have good intentions, both are trying to make the best of bad situations, their both just in over their heads and have a number of vices making them do less than perfect things all the time.
Honestly I think SGU is doing a good job. It' is character driven, the characters just aren't as 2-Dimensional as the characters in SG-1. They aren't all completely good and heroic. But I like that.
Rush is definitely a bad guy. Any actions he's taken have been completely out of self interest. Any good that came of them was purely coincidental.
I never suggested Colonel Everett was a bad guy, he's just portrayed as incompetent. I had really hoped they'd finally give Everett something he could excel at with the Lucian Alliance Incursion, but instead they had him botch that up. The show makes no illusions about his incompetence. They go out of their way to have other Colonels out performing him.
Just because characters are not "completely good or heroic" doesn't mean they need to be pathetic. -
Where a movie or show is filmed doesn't really distance it from the executive calling the shots. It's common practice to shoot movies and TV shows in Canada for lower production costs. SyFy is owned by NBC/Universal; it's hard to get more "Hollywood" than that.

Was your scapper flying/hovering at the time?

You should download a hero planner. Two most commonly used can be found here
These will save a great deal of time and aggravation in designing your build. You can even post your designed build on the forums for other to critique. Player can copy your build and import it into their own planners and make adjustments to post back to you as a reply.
An explanation as to why six slotting for damage is generally ill advised can be found here. The short and simply rule is not to slot more than three of a specific attribute (3 accuracy, 3 damage, 3 heal...). This is not taking into account Invention sets, where things get rather complex very quickly. -
You've gotta slot your attacks for damage. You need each attack to do as much damage as possible or you will need to use additional attacks. The more attacks you need to defeat an opponent, the more endurance you burn.
Regenerative Tissue +Regeneration Unique does very little for Dark Armor. If you had slots to spare, maybe, but you don't.
Dark Armor 101:- Take Death Shroud as early as possible. Slot it immediately. It doesn't seem like it at first, but Death Shroud is you most efficient attack. Run over time, it saves you a great deal of endurance.
- Dark Regeneration is a crucial power to your survival, but it's also very expensive. It needs to be six slotted.
- Don't pursue +recovery bonuses. These bonuses are generally too small to have a significant impact on your endurance management. You'll have greater success managing endurance by pursuing + Max end bonuses. See the Necessary Mechanics section of my guide.
I took your build and moved some things around. Just a suggestion of how to pursue things.
