The footage as they escape the grid was actually one of the clips shown at Tron Night except Tron Night's was longer.

I completely refuse to watch anything Tron related...until after I've seen the movie.

Yeah I'm doing my best to not see anything Tron Legacy related either until the movie opens.
I've seen a couple of trailers that look promising, but I have a lot of mixed emotions about it.

I'm ancient enough to have seen the original Tron in theaters so this new movie has a lot to live up to as far as I'm concerned. Obviously it's going to be vastly superior in terms of the CGI and overall appearance, but the original actually had a pretty solid story and this new movie needs to live up to that.

I wasn't old enough to see it in theaters, but old enough to see the hype the films generated for years afterward, particularly in arcade games.

At this point, the film is generating a great deal of hype. IMHO, it's in danger of reaching Star Wars Phantom Menace level hype, where expectations will be so high, the film can't help by disappoint. Typically, when that happens, so much info about the film is revealed, you walk out of the theater feeling, but I already saw this movie.

Comparing this to the Phantom Menace scenario is a good way to describe it. I'd rather go into it not expecting much and be pleasantly surprised by its goodness than expecting hyped-up movie perfection and getting completely disappointed.

Michael Sheens in it !, with a glowy cane and looking rather Bowie-esque. Interesting !.

The film sfx and colour pallette look incredible and could just persuade me to check this out in Imax 3d, but I still think the cgi work for the young Jeff Bridges looks sub-par.
Young-ification™ can be done fairly convincingly, I think X3 did it a little more seemlessly.

Its appropriate that this Tron looks as cutting-edge today as the original did back in the early 80's.

Meh, I thought that Xavier looked ridiculous in that scene. Looked to me like he had been to a bad plastic surgeon.

What "little guy" are you talking about?

You mean "Bit"?

Oh i perfectly understand, its not perfect, far from it, its probably really hard to do technically.
Its just that in Tron legacy it looks.... bad. Its probably emphasised because the effect is surrounded by so much that looks seemless and really good.

That's actually what struck me more than anything else. It's insane how chameleonic Michael Sheen is. You wouldn't ever think that's the same guy who played Lucian in Underworld or the gravedigger in Kingdom of Heaven unless you know.

The rest? Meh. If it was a fourth part bringing in a younger co-star I'd be worried. Also see: Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Die Hard. I'm sure there've been more. As it's only a second part however, I'm merely skeptical. All the CGI in the world won't save a crappy story. Also see: Avatar, Clash of the Titans (though that one had a slew of amazing actors; why they didn't pick one to play the protagonist I'll never understand, and the script was still horrible).

I hope that scyfy shows the original the day before it opens and the day of, that would be kinda cool. I think they might with all the hype this new tron is getting. I really like Daft Punk too so I am glad they are doing the music.
