  1. This thread single-handedly restored my faith in the CoH community. Also, it makes me glad I never spent more than 5 minutes on Unleashed.
  2. Lots of stuff in the EULA looks scary at face value. The vast majority of it is basically to cover NCSoft/Paragon's behind in the legal sense. What I gather from the above is that they have the right to ban you if they think you're using bots. Given the stuff that was already in the EULA, this isn't something I'd lose sleep over.
  3. I've deleted some moderately good stuff, but once I get something sufficiently shiny in my inventory my brain goes into Anti-Stupidity Mode and every consequent action is done with a great deal of caution. There is much truth in the sniper's maxim: slow is smooth, smooth is fast.
  4. I think the most I've had at one time may have been 26 billion, maybe more. Then I went all-out on a S/L softcap build for my main that wiped out a good chunk of that. Currently sitting at around 12 billion total. And still I feel poor.
  5. My cat, Precious (as in "My precioussssss..."), thinks she's a Claws/SR Brute, always eager to go out and wrangle with the feral cats that live in the neighborhood. She has some rather odd habits as well. She'll act all nice, even sit in your lap, but once you show signs of movement she leaps off and starts meowing, attempting to lead you to her food bowl so you can feed her, even when she knows it's full. She demands an audience for whatever reason.

    Avengers photos

Pictures taken on set usually look pretty bad; that's what lighting and post-production are for: to make things look good.
  7. Could a fully-equipped Marine Expeditionary Unit defeat the entire Roman Empire?

While the show Ultimate Warrior makes historical comparisons of individual combatants that are roughly contemporary to each other, what happens when you take a small number of technologically advanced warriors and pit them against a technologically inferior but numerically overwhelming force?

So, why do the screen-shotted CoT NPCs (not shown here) not look anywhere near as good as the concept art? Something was definitely lost in translation there. The concepts obey the 3-point rule, they have flat spaces and subtle patterns that aren't shoved in your face...they look fitting of CoH (kudos to Davids team, once more)

They look great. The NPC models don't. Why is this?
The biggest differences I see are the hoods, shoulders, belt and color scheme. Other than that it's pretty much what we see in-game. The shoulders look much more like cloth and look more like they're wearing mantles rather than spiky armor. It doesn't help that they show the costumes with bright, garish colors.

I think this one is pretty good.

I'm pretty sure the Emperor yelled as he fell in the original version.

As for the edits, I'm not overly shocked or upset by them, I've just come to expect it.

Because there is absolutely no precedent with this game's population of people flocking to AE buildings to level whenever a new exploit is discovered.
    /end sarcasm

"Easier" and "Faster" has been shown to draw people away from fun content (assuming you believe any of the 1-50 content is fun, of course - I won't deign to speak for you) in the past. There's no reason to assume that adding an option that requires no organization of a large group and no reliance on other people's ability to follow directions, wouldn't lead to a large-scale shift to that option if the rewards were even close to equivalent.

I suspect Posi's just managing expectations. I also suspect that there are people who will never be satisfied with whatever solo/small-team path gets put into place.
This pretty much sums up my thoughts on the subject. Fast Katies, anyone?
  13. The lack of Jimmy Stewart and Gregory Peck on the IMDb list is inexcusable.
  14. Newbs need to know what the game was like when it launched. They won't believe us though.

    I miss that show.
  17. This thread has been dead for a year. Probably not the best place to post feedback.
  18. Overlord by Max Hastings

A no-holds-barred look at the triumphs and failings of Operation Overlord and the bloody battles that followed in Normandy.

    Recently finished:

    Robopocalypse by Daniel H. Wilson

Similar to World War Z in concept and execution, but it felt rushed and claustrophobic in scope compared to Max Brooks' truly excellent war chronicle.
  19. Most likely one of the back options from the Celestial VIP set.
  20. I really have to disagree with their #1 choice. Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.

  22. Those 10 minutes were Pixar at their absolute best.
  23. My main and namesake: Demobot!

He was a part of Crey Industries attempts to reverse-engineer Malta's Titan technology. Like Malta's Titans, he has a human brain, culled from one of the Rikti War's innumerable casualties. Armed with powerful concussive energy emitters, he was nicknamed 'Demobot' after he blasted a sizable hole through the reinforced steel wall of the firing range during his first weapons test. Crey scientists attempted to use brainwashing techniques to create a fully loyal cyborg killing machine but gave their creation multiple personalities. The original personality, completely bereft of his memories but no less horrified at what Crey had done to him, eventually asserted control over his cybernetic body and blasted his way out of Crey's clutches. With nothing of his previous life he was left with only one goal: take down Crey Industries, whatever the cost.
  24. To me, "Assassin's Strike" means that Assassins are tired of low wages and poor working conditions and are refusing to go back to work until a new contract is negotiated.
