I really wish we had open world content in CoX.
the zones are richly detailed for us to ignore as we head to our door mission.
[/ QUOTE ]
There's all kinds of it available, but most people don't want to "hunt x number of y in zone z". -
[ QUOTE ]
Let's have cell shading instead >.>
[/ QUOTE ]
Ooo, even better. Let's put a thick black line around your characters because it's more "super-heroey". -
Did you unclick the radio button that says to the effect of "filter out arcs I've already voted on"? It's a pretty common solution to arcs that are "missing".
-
I don't mind it, but most people I've talked to actually have conniptions about exemplaring, even on TFs and Oroborous and such. For some reason they forget how to play toons that aren't 50s.
-
It would help your case more if you'd stop using "copyright" where you mean "trademark".

They need to remove the ability to "downrate" arcs.
Let people either select to "thumbs up" the arc or not rate it at all. There are too many arcs that get low ratings not because of anything wrong with the arc, but because of personal taste ("I don't like carnies, 1 star!" "I don't like office maps, 0 stars!")
Good ones would still rise, but arcs wouldn't be as subject to suffering from nonsensical ratings as they are now.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd rather they got rid of the ratings completely than go with a "fluffy bunny" approach. Most are finding a 5-star too limiting, and you would change it to a binary "good or nothing". "Nothing" would equal "sucks" to most people. It'd still be griefed by people entering the mission and leaving, giving a play and no vote. And it would do nothing to help the 5-star "griefing" in the other direction ("he's my SG mate, so 5-stars"). -

I found a couple new bugs. Before, hostages would run to the nearest exit not long after you kill the guards, now they just stand there. In fact, this just started happening today while testing my arcs. Unless captives that are in an outdoor map always just stood there.
[/ QUOTE ]
In the MA? Yes, they have. It's an "outdoor map" bug. There's no "door" for them to go to, as far as they can perceive.
[ QUOTE ]
Second, while trying out a published mission I had an issue with an escort objective. Cleared the rest of the map before rescuing the escort and proceeded to lead the escort to the exit. When I got there the objective/mission wouldn't clear: again, this is an outside map (one without a vehicle, but that glowing red square field as the exit point).
[/ QUOTE ]
Similar bug. To make it work, you have to walk up to the red square, get the hostage there, and then go to the other side so the hostage will walk through it (or so I'm told, I haven't tried it myself). It's a kludgey work-around that most people aren't going to know, though. So, yeah, a bug that needs fixing. -
I don't know if this was ever fixed, but I do know that both Carnies and Family spawn at completely different levels depending on if the player is a hero or a villain. This may be still affecting your arc.

CURSE YOU TSOO GUY!
[/ QUOTE ]
Well my daddy left home when I was three
And he didn't leave much to ma and me
Just this old guitar and an empty bottle of booze.
Now, I don't blame him cause he run and hid
But the meanest thing that he ever did
Was before he left, he went and named me "Tsoo." -

I agree with the OP. There are reasons why other MMOs have avoiding adding player created content to their games. The biggest and most relevent reason is of course, player abuse. Let's face it, the vast majority players will always look for shortcuts to get to where they want. It's human nature. This doesn't mean that they'll be willing to hack or cheat, it just means that they will use the easiest method as allowable by the game to advance their goals. That is the main achievement for AE so far, which was to provide an easy and convienent method for players to get what they want even faster than before.
This is why I find it hilarious that the devs are now getting so indignant about how players are using AE to farm and PL. Come now, any 16 year old MMO kid could've figured that part out without using the benefit of hindsight. CoX has opened the Pandoras Box and now they have to deal with all the problems that come with it.
[/ QUOTE ]
What does any of that have to do with search engine funciton? -
I wonder if Golden Roller could be used, maybe as a "rescue"?
-
[ QUOTE ]
It just occurred to me that the AE has given us the opportunity to sit in front of computer screens for extended periods of time whilst pretending to sit in front of computer screens for extended periods of time.
I just felt like I needed to share that.

**invokes the name of Morrison for the hundredth time since MA began...and runs away** -
The likely explanation is buggy spawns, but my name ain't red...
I'd like to see Paragon, but different eras. Pre-Columbian, Frontier, 18th and 19th centuries (especially a "gaslight" era), maybe even a '30s one that's all in black and white....that kind of period thing. -
The GMs didn't like the book. They closed it.
You were living in a dream world if you thought some arcs might not be pulled by what a GM determines as "objectionable content". And also that there might be some disagreement as to what that is, but the decision is only in their hands, so that's often moot (at least there's an appeals procedure that actually HAS restored arcs that were complained about). -
Look for the LBMA tag. I've found lots of missions, many with customs that weren't any harder than the regular game. Or if they were harder, I didn't even notice.
-
That hussy? She says she won't train me because of some sort of "interdimensional rules" or something. I think she's just honked off because she's dead in this reality.
-
Patrol XP definitely does not work in AE, but I believe it does eat debt.
-
Good point. It's been a long time since I've been a message board mod and forgot proper usage. Not that I miss the bi-weekly emails calling me Hitler, mind you.

Im wondering how people feel about the fairness of the rating system for the arcs?
[/ QUOTE ]
Indifferent. I pretty much pay it no mind. I don't even look what an arc is rated before playing. I use a lot of board recommendations and tag searches instead. -
[ QUOTE ]
FWIW, in my next story ("Cathedral of Mild Discomfort") a few reformed Lesbian Hellions appear during the jailbreak and sewer missions - as allies. If you read their descriptions, you will learn their ultimate fate, which is not too bad.Since they aren't enemies, if that story gets banned on account of their presence, some new rationale will need to be invented.
[/ QUOTE ]
Fantastic! I love that sort of tie-in! I'll be sure to give that a try!
And I, too, was one that loved your arc, but knew there was no way they'd let it stay as is. Too many people out there just waiting to complain about something. It gave them too much ammo, and sadly would be a lesser arc with the ammo removed (unless you can pull a rabbit out of your hat...love to see a revised version. You seem talented enough to have better ideas than I do).

Can I just mention the Nazis real quick and get the thread over with?
[/ QUOTE ]
You need to compare something to Nazis or the Holocaust to enact Goodwin's law.
It's also consider bad internetting to just out and do it right away.
[/ QUOTE ]
There's no need for you to go all HITLER about Godwin's Law!
How was that? -
[ QUOTE ]
They must like spending 200000 on runebound armors, since it costs 8 tickets to roll for common salvage.
[/ QUOTE ]
And I regularly see them for selling at the market for between 1000 and 5000. Anyone paying 200k is either one of the most impatient people I've ever heard of, someone with way too much inf to care or is up to something personal to twist the market somehow. Likely the middle one. -
[ QUOTE ]
Challenge Missions.
People who play them have a pretty clear idea of what they are, and how they differ from farms. And understand that some of them LOOK just like farms.
Some people are calling for removing ALL XP from the MArch, as a solution to the current "problems".
[/ QUOTE ]
There's all kinds of silly, unworkable ideas being posted as "solutions". I wouldn't fear this one even coming close to happening.
[ QUOTE ]
I'm not trying to bring that debate here,
[/ QUOTE ]
And yet, lacking self-control I couldn't help but comment. Sorry.
[ QUOTE ]
I'm mentioning it because it prompted this question:
If you play Challenge Missions, would you still play them if they granted NO XP?
What if they granted no XP, Inf or Tickets? The only thing you could get would be the normal inspiration drops?
[/ QUOTE ]
It's not that I don't play Challenge Missions, just that I haven't gotten around to it, yet. My answer, though, is YES. But then I'm weird. I made a project out of fighting the Paladin and dragging him down to where people were (not ON them, griefing style....people will just join in faster if they can see it right there) and whupping his butt just for the fun of it (pre-merits, of course, and no badge and the XP was bupkis). So you might not want to go by me.
[ QUOTE ]
If you don't play Challenge Missions, would either of these cause you to start? Why?
[/ QUOTE ]
The people who don't want to do something like that? There isn't anything to entice them to do so. More of a style of play temperament.
[ QUOTE ]
My answer: "Hell, YES! To both! I ain't playin' 'em for the XP! I play 'em for the CHALLENGE!"
[/ QUOTE ]
You're weird, too.
Not that there's anything wrong with that...
