Quote:Nah, Herac's just stubborn and terminally convinced his view is right (even if he admits it's not shared).
Sapphic_Neko gets the E:
I've never not meleed Ghost Widow when i've done STF.
Never experienced anything even remotely close to what the OP is so upset about, which leads me to think it's either:
A: A giant troll post.
B: Doesn't know how to play.
C: Is just ignorant.
D: All of the above. -
You also said "sober up", though.
And if there's a Stoner server, they probably just keep forgetting to tell people.
Or I'd be there.
Dave's not here, man. -
Quote:For about the last week or so, I was having what may be a related problem. I usually use the start menu button to get back to the desktop, but it's not been really working. It worked, but it would flicker and shift and I couldn't really use it to check my browser or anything but the game.
ShadowsBetween is getting half measures:
I've recently been trying to finish off some of the Mayhem badges on a few of my characters (it's the only Accolade I actively try to get, since it's relatively easy and has a nice bonus.) However, I've been having a problem that I don't remember seeing before. When I attempt to use Alt+Tab to switch from one instance of the game to the other, it doesn't always work. In fact, it most often doesn't work at all.
Previously, pressing Alt+Tab once was sufficient to switch. Now, sometimes it will work. Most times it will not. If hold the Alt key and press Tab several times, sometimes I can get it to switch. Again, most of the time all that happens is the screen flashes black for a split second, and resumes running whichever client I started on.
I am running Win XP SP3. I do not have any other weird programs running - just a firewall (since broadband connection + no firewall = infested computer.) The only other thing of note is that I have the game shortcut set up with the "maxinactivefps 5" command, to reduce the system overhead of having two copies of the game running at once.
It's not essential that I get this going, but it would be useful, and any suggestions would be appreciated. I'm not quite sure when this might have started happening, but the only system changes I've made recently were to install the latest Windows updates. (Not that Microsoft would ever introduce changes that break older versions of the OS. That would be entirely unprecedented.)
Then I discovered that ATI had put out an upgrade for my card in February and I installed that. Cleared it right up. Maybe you just need to update your driver? -

Okay here's old.
And no it isn't a laptop without a screen
You used to play games on these, three colours, yellow, black and white. Games were on Cassette tape and would take on average 15 minutes to load and would make an awful noise while loading. -

Schismatrix can split the difference:
Would it be more accurate to characterize this thread as going in circles or as a downward spiral? -
I just wanted to post to be sure you knew that Dual Pistols were now available.

Quote:lolRep, indeed. I'm surprised they left that active here after all the butthurtedness over thread ratings in the past.
Westley has it:
Fixed. lolRep. -
Hmmm...hadn't heard that, but I'm sort of a "better safe than sorry" kind of guy. At least it's broken that way instead of the reverse.
-
Quote:Really? I had not heard that! Definite thanks for the info!
Desi_Nova shows they knew that:
Ahh but with I17 it will have a use since you can attach salvage/Recipes/Enhancements/insps/inf to send to an alt. -
Quote:You don't get to feel old unless the answer to that idea is "Pong".
StormSurvivor doesn't creak yet:
I'm eighteen and I managed to catch that wave. Admittedly, I'm already starting to feel old when me and my friends say things like 'God, back in our day a gameboy was the height of technology. And that was before the multicolour version!' -
Quote:And to me, it sounds like "finishing what they started".
Lemur Lad has one angle:
Not really. Sounds like a halfway measure to me. -
Quote:And it's been pointed out to you repeatedly that you not being able to play in your specific preferred method is no indication at all that anything is "broken".
Heraclea is insistent:
I'm not entirely unaware of the problems that the Romans pose to a controller, or the problem that a loose War Wolf poses for a blaster. Then again, that's what Taunt is for. The challenge I like is to shepherd more delicate characters through the content and bring them out of the cave and into the sunlight safe and sound. The challenge I don't like is anything that does not allow me to take that role.

Is that you, Mr. Land?

I've often seen them just standing there in Atlas where you get dumped out right after character creation. I don't know how much reporting does. I certainly reported every single one that sent me emails over the last couple of years, but I have no idea how effective it was. I love that you can just turn off email now (I've never seen anyone even use it except for a few SGs that have a reason).

Quote:Insulation on either end does the same thing for you, but insulation on the ends actually touching the parts keeps the clamps from arcing over onto other parts.
Golden Girl doesn't know how this works:
But the clamps in the picture are the wrong way around - the end bits are rubber, and the handle parts are metal - I know the guy's a mad scientist, but that doesn't mean he's that dumb that he'd hold eletrical things by the metal parts -
Quote:Despise it, and do everything in their power to stop them. The general playerbase seems to hate them, too. I know I do.
Soupnazi wonders:
Yesterday, I got an email advertising an influence selling site, and it brought a few questions to mind:
1) What is NCSoft's position on influence selling? Do they hate it, tolerate it, etc etc?
Quote:2) Do the influence sellers get their influence by hacking accounts? 'Cause this is a problem in WoW and I'm wondering if it is here too.
Quote:3) Other than having a secure password, are there any other ways to help prevent getting hacked? -

LiquidX gets a peek inside my weird mind:
You know, I am still convinced that the best thing the Dev's could do is add a 5th Column Mekman hitting on a Clockwork Sprocket in Pocket D. -
Also, you have the ability to check if the name's already taken (there's a button on the server "page"), so you might want to check first. Surprises stink (in this case).

Quote:And if it doesn't, 90% of the time it's because the spring has worn out. I never figured out if that was just bad design or planned obsolescence.
Samuel_Tow worked the old school:
As far as roller ball mice go, I've had a lot of bad experiences with these, but whenever one wouldn't roll, my instinct was to unscrew the bottom cap, take out the ball and look for grime on the rollers. Scraping that off with my fingernail tended to fix most problems related to that. -
Quote:Agreed. Plus we don't use the word "gay" as an insult every other word.
ClawsandEffect has one of the reasons I stay:
I'm 30 years old, so I'm one of the younguns of this thread.
This thread goes a long way toward proving a theory I've had for a while now.
I theorized that a large part of why this playerbase is one of the friendliest of any MMO is because the average player age is quite a bit higher than most other games out there.
The twits that make people not want to play games because of the elitist attitude and general rudeness probably average 25 years old. From what I've seen the average age in CoH is closer to 35.
The older you get, the more you realize that how cool you are isn't determined by how mean you can be to someone asking a perfectly reasonable question.
Our forums are pretty friendly, and in-game I've found that real jerks are few and far between, for the most part. Sure, there's plenty of idiots, but relatively few people that are intentionally mean.
I chalk that up to the fact that a lot of the players here have outgrown the "I'm going to pick on you because you're different and everyone else is picking on you too." stage of their life. We've all done it to some degree or another, and I've always felt that the indicator of what kind of person you are was whether or not you felt bad about it later. (I always did, but I can't speak for everyone)
So, rock on older players! You are a large part of the reason this game has the friendliest community around! -

Sounds like you're either underRAMed, have a slow connection or a weak vid card from that. What are the specs on your computer?
And maybe the Technical Issues and Bugs board might give you more knowledgeable responses. -
Quote:It was an alcohol joke, Pinnacle being the unofficial Drunk Server.
Amish_Justice must not be aware:
I have a full compliment of heroes and villains on Virtue, Protector, Triumph, and a couple more on Pinnacle, and um...infinity maybe? I just moved some somewhere....I'm kinda an alt-o-holic. -
Yes, the poo being two fold...
1. The servers are usually not as "empty" as perceived.
2. Many of us don't WANT to be on busy servers. We're on the less-traveled ones on purpose. -
Ah, you must play on Pinnacle, then.
