  1. Worth following the link if only for Dispari's Mid's map. Thanks!

so you saying that half the servers arent ghost towns..teaming is at a all time low and the server tokens were just "gifts" instead of a an alternative to server merging?
Well, first, I said nothing resembling any of that, and most of that has nothing at all to do with the topic. The game isn't "dead" because you personally aren't seeing people around. As long as NCSoft makes enough money off of it, the game won't "die". That's the point. What the hell server tokens have to do with it I have no idea. And it wasn't an alternative to server merging at all, I'm sure. That's not ever been on the table to my knowledge, and that would SURELY be the sign of near death to some.

Unlike Paragon City, it tends to vary wildly depending on the weather.

    M_I_Abrahms notes:

True, they're going to want those with only a couple of characters to have plenty of content to run, but on the other hand, there are people with multiple accounts which are full on some servers. It's an edge case, I'm sure but I doubt the devs would want anyone stuck grinding out the same missions for a year to get all of their characters to the gray. Also, the consideration that after the first character or two, it could easily become repetitive. We have the new 1-20 Praetoria arcs, the Incarnate level, and whatever the unannounced content is.
Also true, and no disagreement. I'm wildly speculating that the reason there are four rather large zones is a wide variety of missions available for the switching (as well as starting out). And, of course, a lot of this is dependent on what exactly Posi meant by about a week. Is that week to rockin' veterans used to speed TFs? The casual player? The noob?

In any case I'm sure we'd both be pleased with a happy medium between "soar through" and "slog forever".
  4. The busiest servers tend to be Freedom and Virtue. You don't see a lot of people outside nowadays due to it being mostly instanced content (along with the myriad amounts of teleportation tools making it seem like "no one's around"). It would be best to find your server(s) Global channel (look around or ask at the particular server's board) for better contact information for teaming, etc.

EDIT: If you're still around, anyway. I didn't notice the question was a month old.
  5. Hmmm...that leaves about half my timeline out. Ah, well, thanks for the answer, anyway.

EDIT: Actually, more like a quarter than a half.
  6. I was hoping that the merit system would make more people want to fight GMs (especially the badgeless Paladin), but the count is so small it never happened.
  7. Hmmm...mine starts in "Antiquity", too. What's the minimum date?

    I've...been siggy quoted? I'm honored!
  9. Interesting. I have my own timeline for all my characters (well, Victory, anyway), but it's all in text. I may have to give this Dipty a try (when I get some free time...HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Right. )

Themes sounds like a good idea for booster pack names and add-ons. Adventure, Mystery, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Horror
I like these ideas more than the specific ones Phage mentioned. Better to keep them looser and more open.

Posi - There are new ones in GR.

Translation: When will we have an even greater choice of things to do while waiting for the slow people to get to the mission door? Oh, and in Pocket D on Virtue too.

Pause E - There are new ones in GrandPa's Rock... by K-Tel records.
Hey, man! Is that GrandPa's Rock? Well, TURN IT UP!

No, seriously, I think the batteries on my hearing aid have died...
  12. Not really. As long as they're still making enough money to keep the game going, drops in subs aren't an indicator of "death", just age.

And certainly one game is indicative of nothing at all as far as the whole of PC gaming is concerned.
  13. For me, see most of what Memphis Bill wrote. I like to poke my nose into just about every area of the game. I probably badge "more", but that's because I get badges for doing other stuff, not because I go hunting badges. I usually only do that on high level characters that are missing some badge for some accolade I want, and not very often.

    M_I_Abrahms has a wish:

That's what I expect as well. It's just that I have a number of characters who will be switching at least one side (and one that will be going from Villain to Vigilante). I just hope that it's more a timer issue, rather than actually taking a full week of missions to swap.
I hope just the opposite. I'm paying more for this, I want there to be something to DO, not just whip through a few missions and go into "wait" mode.
  15. Pure stupidity is often far more satirical than things that are actually meant to be.
  16. Heh, punishing the civil engineer who designed the tram lines will have to take a back seat to mercilessly pummeling the one who designed the roads. MUCH bigger ignoramus.
  17. Bitter snark from the rodent? That's unpossible!

  18. It's far more likely that console gaming will die before PC gaming, especially as the consoles become more and more like computers themselves. I'll possibly be dead by then (only because I'm old now), but I can see a time in the near future where all your electronics will be controlled by a central computer of some sort (and this can actually be done now, more or less, if you want). Things will integrate more and more as time goes on.

No, not "especially". "Only". Plenty skipable if your goal is to just have fun beating up bad guys.

As far as entitlement goes, I would say the sense of entitlement to eternal unending further rewards for actions taken six years ago is no less than the sense of entitlement to eventually earn all possible rewards.
The difference being that, according the rules set up from day one of the program, they ARE entitled. You want it changed because you are not entitled and wish to be. A sense of entitlement is far different than actually being entitled.

    Eiko-chan is wrong:

I'm merely asking for the chance to potentially earn all rewards someday, after having put in as much time as those currently enjoy those rewards now do. So long as the count of "all rewards" continues to increment at the same pace as the count of "my rewards", this can never happen.

That's not entitlement. That's being asked to have a fair shake at equality.
No, it's you asking that the rules be changed so it will favor you. That's entitlement. Plenty of people with more time in that me, too. So what? I'll take the freebies they give me when they give them to me. If people are going to be "discouraged" by the very existence of the Vet Rewards, instead of looking forward to when they get them, that just smacks of immaturity to me.
  23. Quote:
    Eiko-chan is pouty:

But without an end point, people that join today (or let's go with next week, when the new shiny i17 drops and it's the six anniversary, just to make things nice and pretty) will see a constantly expanding list of things they will not get, at that point which will include 24 individual rewards forever inaccessible to them because they did not start playing in 2004.

That they will eventually get the same 24 rewards that people playing since launch have now does not change the fact that people playing since launch will have 24 more rewards than people starting next week. And they always will have 24 more rewards, no matter how long the new player plays, because new rewards are constantly added onto the top.
I have to say, this is one of the more petty arguments I've ever heard. "I can't 'catch up'!" So what? Why should you be able to? It's time based. Sorry you feel like you "deserve" to catch up, but you don't and you can't. What's "fair" is that everyone follow the same "rules".

    The Boot Myth

I'd be more likely to label "control freak" than "immature", but it just makes me glad there's lots of sandboxes in this game and plenty of room for me to avoid people like Tokyo and vice versa. He can have his fun his way and I can have mine my way. I much prefer team leaders whose main function is to get the team together and have fun, rather than being "in charge".
