Smurch also has this weird definition:

I think she's definitely a troll, but I also believe she doesn't realize it or know any better.
Trolling is about intent. You can't be an accidental troll.
  2. What is left hazarded? Cimerora (35), I think. Only one I know off the top of my head.
  3. Ah, I see, thanks. Once again my dislike of fighters leaves me without cultural reference.

    The Mighty Thunor

Anyone who wants feel free to report it. I don't have the slightest fear of being genericed there.

    ClawsandEffect wants specific:

What I was referring to was the possibilty that someone actually created Illyana Rasputin in-game and named her "Magic" because the actual spelling of her name was blocked. In which case, if they got reported and genericced, the spelling "Magic" would end up blocked as well.

I can't imagine they just leave a name open to be used again after they generic it.
Because "Magik" isn't "Magic", from this standpoint. "Magic" isn't an alternate spelling of "Magik" as a name, but an entirely separate already existing word. It isn't "Wolferine".

It's more likely they just made it so you don't use the names of the powers, origins, archetypes or servers that they already did.

Hey, I haven't even done it once yet. I was just explaining to you what the others were talking about.

    Durakken basically spouts gibberish:

    That is utter nonsense.

Take 10 objects and give them 10,000 variables and try to get them to slowly move towards a all 10,000 of those variables being the same. Over a very very very long time you might get them all to line up, but the probability is so low that it is unlikely any of those objects will every be anything alike.

Conversely Take 1 object with 56,000,000,000,000 variables and divide it into 100,000,000 objects slowly over time with, each time a new one is created setting it's variables as the same that spawned it. Over long times there will be progressively less similarities but they will always be far more similar than the convergent objects at most points in history save for very rare occurrences that would likely never happen.

In other words... The chances that realities that are alike are convergent in this way are as so low that it might as well be called impossible. The chances that realities that are alike being divergent are near pretty much so close to 100% you might as well just say it is.

on the other hand there is another way... There is another theory that argues that if there are divergent universes they would compulsively converge at a later point in history.... Of course, if i remember right, that theory also argues that one or both of the universes ceases to exist upon convergence and in the case of both a new universe is created having the history of both the other two.
Your odds and probability mean nothing when dealing with infinite possible universes. With infinity as the result, the odds are certain that at least one universe fills the requirements.
  9. Anglicizing makes them more similarly spelled than they would have been to the Greeks.

Titan - Cronus or Kronos (Ancient Greek Κρόνος, Krónos)

Time personification - Chronos (Ancient Greek: Χρόνος)
  10. Oh, true, and that's what I was clumsily trying to say.

    YAY! I was helpful!
  12. Being a dick is a definition of "not good". There's no "good" connotation of "being a dick".

Degrees of dickery and shades of gray. Neither Marcus nor Stefan were paragons of virtue.
  13. **shrugs** It's valid. Laws are all about technicality and details.
  14. Documentation definitely helps them push it from "our fault" to "your fault".

EDIT: Um, clumsy wording. "Our" from the perspective of the company.

A side tip. Durakken should probably put a link in his signature right away, with maybe an "under construction" or something. One angle of how Google places sites is in order of how many links there are out there for it (unless you pay, of course) and bunches of links out there will push it a bit higher in the rankings.
  16. I just realized I don't have to worry about this problem with my "bank". I'm constantly taking from and adding to, and each time requires a new email, so it likely won't ever remain for 30 days.

    Durakken states:

Also it should be noted that Recluse is or was not a bad guy if you read his bio. He was knocked out and washed to sea by the Cave's collapse in Primal Earth (might have killed him in Praetorian Earth or something else could have happened to him that prevented him from re-emerging without dying, but as far as info states he is dead) and then while figuring out how to make humanity better he joined Arachnos and slowly turned "evil" over time. Likely caused by Thanatos? (I think that's his god's name) ... So he is a lot more like Two-Face where he is a good man gone bad due to some psychosis or something and has two conflicting sides warring inside him.
In the first novel, Stefan is portrayed as quite a bit more dickish than Cole, who is portrayed as quite dickish to begin with.

But then, that's the novels, not the game lore.

Fleeting Whisper speaks for Lucy Lawless:

I don't know if it's stated explicitly, but it's definitely implied. Pandora's Box is the source of mankind's surges of inspiration throughout history, as well as apparently the source of super powers.
('Aliens?' I hear you say. I respond: A wizard did it!)
Any sufficiently advanced alien is indistinguishable from a wizard.

    Golden Girl confuses stuff:

When Dark Astoria gets a makeover, it should totally have the winding narrow streets and gothic buildings that are in Bloody Bay - and part of the war walls should be broken down like in Siren's Call, so that the sea comes into the zone a bit to form a saltwater swamp in one corner, so the Banished Pantheon can have the right atmosphere for their voodoo
Vodun doesn't have anything to do with swamps except that a version is/was practiced in Louisiana, where there are coincidentally a lot of swamps. And the Banished Pantheon have nothing to do with Vodun except some superficial trappings.

The FBSA is... all 10 blueside starting contacts (edit: For non-EATs), basically.
Thanks. While I probably did see that at one point, it's not exactly a commonly used abbreviation. I would suggest that if Durakken does use it, to spell it out and not use the abbreviation.

I want to make sure that you have all of the information available to you, and that details of this promotion are as transparent as possible.

*Going Rogue Closed Beta Access will be granted using a three-tier system:

o Tier One: City of Heroes Veterans with 60+ months of paid time.
o Tier Two: Loyalty Program players
o Tier Three: Players who Pre-Order Going Rogue (Preorder details to be announced at a later date)
Plain and clear, please. Does Tier Three refer to...

    A. The prepurchase program
    B. The GameStop pre-order program
    C. Some other pre-order (through NCSoft possibly)

This has been a rather big point of confusion of late. Thanks.

    Durakken needs clarity:

#2. The site name. What do you think? Again it's alright, but I get the feeling that it could be named something better. I was gonna go with FBSA, but found that taken grrr. Anyways, not really worried about it as registering a domain and transfering the paths is hardly a challenge so if you have any ideas on it let me know.
I have no clue what FBSA even means, and likely a lot of your audience will not either. I'd suggest something a lot more generic that would turn up a lot more on websearches. Something like "City of Heroes Lorepedia" or something like that.

Good luck. This is quite an ambitious project that you probably won't see a great deal of fruition for quite a while, so know that going in and don't get discouraged in a month.

  25. And now that we've gotten our "HUH? WUT???"s out of the way, I wonder why this restriction. Data storage issue? Specifically keeping us from using it as storage? A standard thing that might be removed later like the market time restriction did?
