My biggest complaint (and, no, it doesn't keep me up at night), isn't that it's popular, it's that it looks bad to me. I grew up seeing the comic book lettering work of greats like Artie Simek, Sam Rosen, Gaspar Saladino, Tom Orzechoski, etc, etc. Compared to them, this looks like, as someone mentioned, a little kid with a crayon.

Quote:Been online heavily since '97...never heard of it (not by that name, the phenomenon I've seen many times). I think you may be mistaking your niche knowledge as commonplace.
je_saist is incredulous:
... you have seriously never heard of Slashdot, Slashdotting, or the Slashdot effect? -
They're saying what MAY happen once they figure out how to fix the exploit, not what has happened. And what will happen will be the exploit part won't work any more. The enhancement itself won't disappear.

Ah, nicely done then! That was my reason for asking, because every "problem solved" thread is a pointer that can be given to others.

Quote:It may be just me, but I've found the best thing to do with people who want to insist you build your character their way is to tell them to get bent.
Eschia Mousehold sees the silly:
Other MMOs such as EQ2 let you do this too, and boy do people like to b**ch about what other people do with their characters. I hope CoH is different. I thought the aspect behind this game was to build your own super hero/villain the way you want it, but if I have to do things a specific way that someone else says is best, that defeats the whole purpose. -
Up until now (well, six/seven weeks from now, actually), it was unnecessary, as you could tell from AT. But yes, if it's not there already, it would be a welcome addition.

**eyes narrow**
Put this one on "The List"! -
I was unaware of this problem. My binds on my robots work fine (they were bowing to me and praising the Masque of Red Death as is only proper just hours ago). I know the Demons had some problems, but they were specific to their powers interrupting the emotes. Is it just certain pet groups?

I don't need to see your identification.
These aren't the droids I'm looking for.
You can go about your business.
Move along... move along.

I don't know, but I kind of doubt it originated on these boards. I think that's one of those old old board traditions from elsewhere.

I don't think that's what the OP is asking for. I think he's wanting a way not to have to go to each and every alt to change them, like he'd have to with the /saves. Or am I mistaken and they automatically apply to ever alt (which wouldn't make sense to me without a warning because some people want different stuff on different alts)?
Granted, I'd just load my /saved stuff whenever I went to an unchanged alt, but that's not what he's saying. -
I wonder if the Beta people know or not. It might be easily identified by the "city" map, but might not. Might be in one of the arcs.
Note: Not asking the Beta people to tell us, merely a hypothetical "wonder"ing. -
That's not new. I don't remember where it's from, but I knew that before today. I also seem to remember some discussion that said place might be the Rogue Isles, but I don't remember the actual arguments or evidence.

I think this would be a good edition to most, but especially would make MA writers happy. Half the time I'm trying to figure in that only the leader is seeing something and have to minimize information everyone should have there.

Quote:Ooo, nicely done!
LaserJesus plays "tie-back" well:
Billions of tiny robots just means billions more chances to crap up the operation like that one robot did.
Besides, the oil spill was obviously caused by the safety regulations flyer being printed in comic sans, causing everyone to either look away in disgust or not take it seriously because it looked like crayon scribbles in a kid's notebook instead of an important safety document.

Just don't letter your reports with Comic Sans. **waggles finger**

Impact is good for making posters you want to look generic.

Quote:Oh, sure, when I'm leading, same thing. And I'm usually have similar leaders when I'm not because I mostly team with my SG. I think I didn't notice mostly because I was gone from July '09 until Jan '10 with a broken computer right after I16 gave us SSK and my teaming has been sporadic since returning. So I'm still learning little details.
Noxilicious plays fair:
It's definitely a leader perk. I know that when I lead, I almost always just do my misisons and reap those reward merits for completed story arcs.
The rare times a member asks me if we can do their mission though, I have yet to say no. 'course, they always asked politely, and I would be less inclined to set their mission if they were more demanding. -
You disparage the importance of this issue????
All of Portugal is dead to me now. You hear me??? DEAD!!!

My favorite is "comic book inspired". Well, it was an awful inspiration. If any comic book letterer lettered in anything like that PoS style, he'd be poor and homeless from no work.

Quote:Fights? Over other people's sets? I don't really have much faith in humanity in general, but that makes even me ask "What's there to fight about?" I suppose I shouldn't be surprised, though.
Emberly shouldn't shock me, but...:
I did forget idle curiosity!
Imagine if you could see other people's sets, the fights it would start. FFXI let you do this, check other people's gear, and it had some interesting effects on how players interacted. -
Quote:Eh, sometimes you're just standing around waiting for someone so you can start a mission. It's not like the OP said he obsessively checks up on everyone's bonuses.
Emberly forgets idle curiosity:
Still sounds like a lot of work to bother with just to see who has what slotted.
