Quote:This is a very intolerant attitude, and quite ignorant if I do say so myself. I'd say more, but that much would get modded for sure. While such a tactic may be worth some humor, it is not something I would tolerate. If you are going to play a certain AT (doesn't matter what), I don't think it is being unreasonable to expect you to build and play that character such that they can make a good addition to the "average" team. Personally, if I was the team leader, I would have kicked you too. In fact, I tend to kick people who bring a toon to my team and you do not have the key powers that make you valuable to my team. I've kicked Kins who don't have SB...
An empathy defender can be a great addition to a team without having any heals. They are not needed, especially if the buffs and debuffs of his secondary are used to good effect. Not every kin needs SB.
Suffice to say I am quite pleased I've never been on one of your teams. In fact, teams run by people like you are the reason I stopped joining teams at all.
I only run teams now, and they're run by my rules:
Any build, any budget, no exclusions. -
Quote:The analogy is starting to break down. And to it's more like sitting at the bar in a restuarant because that's where you HAVE to sit to be served certain meals, and asking the person sitting next to you, not to stop smoking, but rather to please stop blowing smoke directly in your face.
So it's the only sushi restaurant in town, but the owner of the place likes to smoke and is a bit eccentric. He's got a rule that if you come to his restaurant, you have to be ok with getting smoke blown in your face. Not everyone in the restaurant is going to blow smoke in your face, but most of the people there smoke. He won't have a lot of customers, but there will be plenty of people who put up with the risk to get their sushi. I don't care how good the food is, I'll live without sushi because I don't like getting smoke blown in my face.
If you want the rewards of a PvP zone, you have to be prepared to get beat up. Repeatedly. We can debate whether the inclusion of rewards in that zone was a good design decision or not. What is not up for debate is that people using the zone for its intended purpose are not griefing you should you decide to go there. I don't even want to call it being a d-bag.
This is what PvP is about. You want your rewards and the PvPer wants his. Let's face it, PvP isn't the largest crowd of this game. To get his badges and his rewards, the PvPer has to fight anyone who comes to that zone. If you come to that zone, he has little choice but to beat you up. Repeatedly. -
Quote:No it's not. However, if someone asks you nicely to leave them alone so they can get some badges, and you continue to attack them, then yes, that is griefing.
You might not like getting PvP'd in a PvP zone (I know there's times I don't), but it's still not griefing by any definition. In Atlas Park, I receive no rewards for stealthing your character in a costume contest. In Atlas Park, the purpose of the zone is not to disrupt costume contests.
I've got a better analogy than yours.
Go to a restaurant and voluntarily in the smoking section. Now turn to the smoker in the booth next to you and ask him to stop smoking because it's going to ruin your meal. The smoker has every right to tell you to go to hell. -
Technically, x0 and x1 are the same thing. For some reason, x0 is what your difficulty defaults to when you make a character. You actually can't set it at x0 after you've set it for anything else, as that should be 0 enemies.

Quote:The converse to this: I used to stay logged in to the forums pretty much all the time, even if I wasn't at my computer.I think a lot of people are listed as logged in to the forums while they are off doing something else. I have seen a number of people, who I know don't 'live' on the forums, showing as online for most of a day. Also, while I normally log out when done, I have been known to alt-tab to another application and forget I'm still logged in.
I've since begun to browse invisibly. I know I can't be the only one. -
I keep planning to make an empath one day.
I can't figure out how to make one without any of the heals, though. You have to take one of the first two powers.
I guess I could settle for taking only the PBAoE heal and only using it when no one else is around as a self heal. -
HOLY CRAP GUYS!
Get the reactive chance for damage interface. It procs for each malla falla tick that caltrops produces.
You want aggro? You got aggro.
Thanks to all the new incarnate stuff, my Mastermind doesn't fight anything at less than +2/x8, and I only have T3 stuff as it is. And that +2/x8 setting is still a casual stroll in the park. I can bump it to +4 and still handle any enemy type now.
That's ludicrous. -
...
This will not end well.
Don't get me wrong, it's a great idea for trying to get the badges you want, and to be perfectly honest I'd be all for joining.
I just don't see how this could end well. -
I wouldn't worry as much about F/C damage at all. I've found that there are very few things that F/C defense protects against that S/L does not. Here's the latest build I've posted for my Dark/Fire. It's pre-i18, though. I really need to post the update.
The most important number, I've found, is E/N. The reason for that is that your energy resist is so low you need something to cover it.
Regarding KB protection: You need mag 12 if you don't want to be knocked around by the big stuff. The steadfast protection IO gives you 4, but you'll still get bounced by things like singularity and Nemesis. My brute only had room for one KB protection IO, so he has Acrobatics. My tank has three KB protection IOs, so he doesn't need it. -
Quote:You can't execute that many powers with a single keybind. This is pretty off topic, but does anyone know if there's a functional key bind out there to start in human form > dwarf > dwarf mire> human mire and end up in Nova?
To do that, however, I would press the following keys.
E > E > Alt+E > Q
The first E puts me in dwarf, the second queues up Dwarf Mire. Alt+E drops out of dwarf and executes Human Mire, and Q puts me in nova. -
Today is Friday, and with that, the weekend and my decision have arrived.
The chosen designer has already been notified and arrangements have been made. That means, if I haven't already talked to you, you're not hired. I talked to a lot of great designers who had very impressive bases they were responsible for. I regret that I cannot fund everyone's talents.
Thank you, again, for your time. -
Quote:If you decide to go through with this: sign me up. I've got a character perfect for it, and he's one I really enjoy playing. For those of you interested, I've been in possession of the VG Dawn of Darkness since... since about 4 years ago actually, if not longer. I would gladly use it as my own VG for RP fun times. It's a magic-themed group with room for all comers; we don't have any real need to deny membership to any particular theme.
Edit: I should really rephrase this and say "I don't have any real need to deny membership to any particular theme" since I'm the only active person in the VG, and have been for 2 years now.
Introduction: You've seen my Sand tank; I know you have. Real good and righteous sort of guy, protects everyone around him. It's his nature, see, he was one of the Pharaoh's bodyguards, chosen for his very protective instincts and other virtues. So, how's he still alive? Simple. He's protected and preserved by the sands of Egypt. How the hell did that happen? Little more complicated. Long story short: Pharaoh made a bargain with Set, Egyptian god of sand and "some other stuff" to bless his best bodyguard with that protection, so that he would be around to protect the Pharaoh's lineage.
So what's any of this got to do with the character I intend for your group? Let's talk about Set for a minute. You remember Set? Well, "some other stuff" includes chaos. Now, to Set, letting the Pharaoh have an immortal guardian didn't sound very chaotic. Part of the bargain was that Set would create an equal and opposite force that would pose no threat "so long as the Pharaoh and his children sat upon the throne." Pharaoh agreed, content that with an immortal bodyguard no harm could ever come to his family, and this force would never come into being.
Pharaoh soon learned that there are things a man cannot protect against.
The equal and opposite force to my tank is the character I think would be a right fit for your "new" group. -
Quote:Hey guess what. Illusion and Radiation are very slanted towards damage, too. Imagine that. A task that requires an absurd amount of damage being done by people capable of doing... a lot of damage!Congratulations. Now I've seen a Tanker solo a GM who isn't Sally.
Now I wonder if it can be done with more 'middle of the road' power sets. Fire Armor and Pyre Mastery are very slanted to damage. What about a WP and Stone Mastery or Invul and Energy Mastery.
When the Grav/FF controller can solo GMs, then you can complain that your Willpower/Ice can't. -
I think I see what you're saying, which was pretty much what Avatea was saying but with more words. It's also like I was saying but more information and less confusing. So now what I'm saying is:
Old lag was only bad lag for low bandwidth users. To fix old lag, they made the server work hard, which created new lag that was server lag and not bandwidth lag, so rather than some people having bad lag it was everyone having very bad lag. The new very bad lag for everyone is much worse than old not so bad lag for some people, so the fix that turned old lag into new lag is being unfixed so that new lag will go back to old lag. There's a new fix in the pipeline to remove bad lag and hopefully not introduce new new lag worse than old lag. When the new fix goes into effect, the first fix will have to be called old fix to prevent confusion between new fix and old fix.
Ok, now I think I got it. -
When will we get the Berserker powerset?
Also, many thanks to those who posted info from the Ustream, as I was not able to watch. -
Quote:How are Energy/Shield Brutes? I made one to try out. Was thinking the Praetorian PPD were Energy based. Plus I was inspired by Warrant and thought of using a Shield with him after I got the Vanguard stuff.Quote:My gut reaction is that no one will be able to answer you due to a lack of many people playing this combo.
I mean, I've seen one in action at level 50 and it was played very well. The player didn't use ET, though, and he said the reason was at high difficulty you can't afford to counter your own regeneration with it. As an energy/shield, the only heal you have is your own regen. -
Quote:That's because he showed you that his tanker used its GODLIKE POWER to destroy a GM.Yeah, he sure showed me that he didn't need pets to defeat a GM on a Tanker by making another video of himself using pets to defeat a GM on a Tanker.
/sarcasm
Like it or not, these are our powers now. When an ill/rad solos a GM, it's his pets doing the work.
Without the tank being able to do his job of holding the aggro, the pets are worthless anyway. -
Quote:Those are dumb leaders. Try sneaking off every time you need to eclipse, just before the current group of enemies dwindles. You should be clearing groups more than once every ninety seconds so you'll only do this once every few groups. If the leader is still a pain in the hindtentacles, just say you're taking the alpha strike like a good tank. If anyone argues you're not a tank, send them my way.The problem I'm having though is that the league leaders seem to all insist that nobody jumps to the next group,
Quote:Not to mention the end of Lambda when there no minions to be found and I'm making purple and orange inspirations like a madman just to stay alive. I feel so inferior blasting at this epic boss in Nova and firing off Judgement when it's up with no eclipse and no double mire, and unless I have two or three blue inspirations handy no quasar since stygian circle is useless without bodies.. Not to mention no unchain essence for the same reason.
Repeat as needed. -
Just to throw this out there: Your henchmen may have some pretty impressive resistances, but there's no better way to protect your demons than to take the hits yourself. To that end I'd suggest at least one attack and provoke.
Learn how to leverage bodyguard mode and you will be capable of some amazing things. -

If I'm reading this right, the old lag was fixed with a fix that created new lag worse than the old lag.
They just pulled back the fix that fixed the old lag and created new lag worse than old lag, which removes the new lag that's worse than old lag and gives us back the old lag, which, while still being lag, is not as bad as new lag.
Did I get that right? -
Great work guys!
My thanks to everyone involved. -
TL;DR:
I'm (still) lazy and I'm willing to pay up to one billion influence (again) to get two (more) rooms designed.
I'm posting a pointer to this thread in this section of the forums to get a little more attention for it. If you or someone you know likes to design bases but would like to get paid game currency for it, send them my way.
