Quote:Right right. Apologies if I sounded condescending.Sorry, I only recently joined CoX and this is my highest lvl toon and I still know little about many of the mechanics
The game's not too complex, as MMO's go, but if you're curious to learn the intricacies, www.paragonwiki.com is your friend.
Quote:since being a blaster my primary concern is just dealing as much dmg as possible before being killed.
You've got the right idea though. -
Quote:Well, all effects from any player, including stuns, holds, debuffs and even damage are resisted by higher level/ranked foes. That makes the whole power sound completely useless if its only single target.
By your logic, everything is completely useless if it only hits a single target.
I like surveillance. It makes me and my team deal a bit more damage against the boss I've targeted. Let's face it, the minions and LTs didn't need debuffed to begin with. -
Arc and Chad, after having taken your thoughts under careful consideration, I have revised my initial post.
-
It's not a question of how often, but by how much. Effects like -def and -res are always resisted by enemies that are higher than minion rank and higher level than you.

Also, to prevent squatting.
Why would they develop CoH2 with GR right around the corner?
Edit: Good points have been brought up, I guess this has merit. I'm attached to my characters and had a kneejerk reaction to the thought of losing them. Can you blame me? -
Right now, cheap is good. Free is better. When my budget frees up a bit, I'll keep the others in mind. Considering the videos you've been able to put out, Sony Vegas Movie Studio sounds perfect.
Quote:There is a thing called fair use, but I'm not a lawyer so don't ask me for details.
So I think I'm down to "Post and pray" if I can't find the music I'm looking for on Jamendo.
Thanks for the advice, DR! -
I wanted to try my creative hand at making entertaining videos, so this morning I downloaded and tried out WeGame. What it records isn't true high definition or anything, but it's good enough for me. Anyway, I've got a few questions for the people that do this all the time.
1. First hurdle is video editing software. Since WeGame records its videos in .avi format, I'll need something that can edit .avi files. I'd like to be able to layer in my own sound and visual effects on top of the video. What's a good program for this?
2. Music and legal stuffs. If I'm making a video to post on the boards, am I allowed to set a soundtrack to it? Do I just put the song/band in the credits? Does it depend on the song or how much of the song I use?
Thanks! -
Based on past experiences, I would have to suggest a Warshade.
That character has been the greatest journey to 50 I've ever had. -

Quote:Meh, only when you have paper, pen, room on your desk, and don't mind sifting through 30 sheets (or more) for the character you're using at the time.Only when you want to figure out the slotting for sets and stuff. Otherwise, when you just want to make sure you get your powers in a good order rather than just going by the seat of your pants every levelup, writing it down is far superior than alt-tabbing out to Mids all the time.
Edit: And as UberGuy mentioned, multiple monitors makes the choice obvious. I, however, alt-tab. -
Doesn't make it any less boring.
"I wish the gas pedal on my Kia were on the left."
"Aren't all car models that way?"
"Yeah, but this is what I drive, and that doesn't make me wish it any less."
You haven't addressed the concern. Do you work in marketing? -
Quote:This. The reason I get bored is not because the look inside a mission is the same - it's because the missions are the same.
You may think the tilesets are limited, but the mission types seem to be much more so. Basically every mission boils down to some combination of:
Defeat all.
Hunt X.
Defeat boss and guards.
Click/destroy/guard glowie.
Capture/rescue and lead to door/glowie. -
Quote:You misunderstand me. Mostly because I haven't explained myself.Yes, i see a lot of people with this attitude. And it's done WONDERS now hasn't it, i almost NEVER hear people use that dreaded h word. .... I need an eyerolling emote.
This is a war that's been waged since nearly day one. 6 years now. And it's a war i'm pretty sure you've won, at least in principle. It's been YEARS since i've seen any kind of powerset discrimination against "non" healing support sets. Most people are more excited in my experience when i pull out my FF/Archer or my ILL/Sonic then when i'm running my empath. Heck, at this point, the only animosity I actively SEE in game towards any powerset is healer hate direct at poor noobs who probably haven't learned the lingo yet.
Yet because the word exists still, there can never be peace?
It's always a sad sight to see the persecuted become the persecutor.Remember how mad it made you when someone turned you down for a team, or LOL'd at you for not being a healer and stop doing the same darn thing to these so called "healers".
My mini rant is over now. I realize it's done no good, but eh, what can i say, hypocrisy fires me up.
Every "healer" I come across I try to educate. They don't get a /kick and /gignore.
I run TFs under a simple mantra: Any build, any budget, no exclusions. It's one of my rules, and I made it to keep myself from being a team structure Nazi. I've allowed petless MMs and empaths on the team.
What I don't allow is them to call themselves a "healer." I've often said "You keep fortitude and AB on the blasters, warn five seconds before you dump the RAs somewhere near the center of the group, and that's all I ask. You know what? Take the heals out of your tray for one mission." -
Quote:Mids' Hero Designer. What is that word "Mids"? I tried urban dictionary and online dictionary with no help.

I came in here to post:
Quote:I think if I ever recognized you in game, Fire_Minded, I'd kick you off the team before you became a problem. As far as the getting booted from teams goes:
If you're as arrogant and egotistical in the game as you tend to be on the forums, then I can't say it surprises me that you get booted from teams. It's unlikely that EVERYONE you team with is a powergamer to the point that your build is unacceptable, which means your personality is probably playing a part in it. Some of the things I've seen you post, had you said them to me in-game I would have booted you too, and probably put you on /gignore.
I play a human form PB that's never been kicked from a team. Even will all the "team friendly knockback" and the "gimped concept build."
I play a Dark Armor tank that's never been kicked from a team. It's about as far from perceived as "uber powerful and FotM" as it gets. That hasn't stopped me from getting on teams, and it hasn't gotten me kicked.
I'm pretty sure the problem here is you. Not your builds. Not your characters. Not your choice to avoid using Mids. You. -

IF so, then I understand I am covered with the damage types. -
Quote:You're putting words in my keyboard again. I never said they weren't related to healing.I'm not interested in getting into a drag-out fight with you. If your two "most favorite things to say to healers" are unrelated to healing and to each other, the problem is not my ability to read.
The two statements are related to healing.
The two statements are not related to each other.
The first one says "Empathy is not a healing set. Calling it a healing set is discounting its ability to buff.
The second one says "Given the choice between someone who can heal really well and someone who can prevent damage really well, I'll take the one who can prevent damage."
I also never said they were things said to healers. They were said about healers. Normally to team leaders who seem to think they need a healer.
Learn to read. -
Quote:Sure, I'll explain.Really? Please explain, because you are the person I was responding to. Specifically:
The two statements of mine were not related to each other. Never did I say that I wanted an empath that only prevents damage. Reading comprehension. Try it sometime. -
I think I realize what the GCAI needs: Events and Volunteers!
There's only two ways I can think of to really spread awareness of global channels. One way is to spend some time, jumping from zone to zone, sending tells to anyone broadcasting LFT and LFM and even LFSG. But even then, it may not have that large of an impact. I think the best thing to do is to find them when they're young! Spend a day hanging out in Atlas, forming sewer teams or inviting lowbies to come along for some high level missions. Mention the global channels and teach people how to use them while they're having fun. Maybe pick a zone like Steel Canyon or Sharkhead to start a team, then ask the people that join if they know about global channels.
My home server happens to be Virtue, and it's pretty much the only one I play on, so I can't be expected to spread this movement very far on my own.
Anyone willing to be the "designated GCAI leader" for each server? I need volunteers for:
Freedom
Infinity
Liberty
Pinnacle
Triumph
Victory
Champion
Guardian
Justice
Protector
In fact, while I'm at it, since Freedom and Virtue have the largest population, it might help to have a few extra people trying to head up events.
So how about three "deputies" for each?
Freedom
1.
2.
3.
Virtue
1.
2.
3.
Who's with me? -
Quote:The discussion was never about how many powers Empathy has to prevent damage.Yes it is. But don't twist my meaning. I said it doesn't completely protect you, and it doesn't. It's +15% defense, around +30% enhanced at 50 and possibly more if Power Boosted. It's awesome. But the discussion was about how many powers Empathy has that "prevent damage," and the answer is one.
My two statements were that Empathy is not a healing set and I would rather prevent damage than heal it.
That's a way of saying I'd rather have a FF or a Cold defender than an Empathy one. -
Quote:Since it was an MM, I doubt the rez power was helping much unless he was using his personal attacks, which is just silly for an MM.Well, that I can understand - have you seen the self-buff in that rez? Why would you ever want to heal anyone when you can rez them instead?
I think it's more likely that the heals were going to his pets.
Also, thanks for pointing out my mistake. -
You know, after playing the only stalker into high levels I've been able to enjoy (an elec/EA), I guess I have to agree with this.
I've often made the joke that "I feel like a blaster, just without all the defenses." -
Yes you can. Just use the NCSoft store button after logging in.
