    Claws/Dark Armor

Dark Armor is great. I'm leveling up a NB/Dark right now as a bit of an experiment and I love him. Tough as hell for a stalker. As an aside, divine avalanche is simply unfair. There was a recent "buff" to stalker Dark Armor in that the control auras are now suppressed while hidden. You can toggle up your oppressive gloom and not worry about it breaking hide.

Claws, in my opinion, is lacking for a stalker. This is just my opinion, and I gave up on it before I got shockwave, so take this for what it's worth. It was far too single target focused, and I think follow up was too big of a sacrifice to lose. I understand follow up does nothing for a stalker, but the set was balanced around having that constant buff. When that buff was taken away, I don't feel the set was rebalanced well enough without it. Spin, one of claws' shining features, was removed and the cone on eviscerate was removed as well.

Only thing else I'll say is this: If you're having fun, you're not doing anything wrong.

It makes for a great sand-like effect. I totally wouldn't mind you duplicating my tank's appearance.

The last we heard was acknowledgment from the devs that yes, stacking buffs and debuffs (not just buffs) is broken as hell. It is beyond the scope of possibility to fix, as it would require redesigning the game from the ground up.

    Fix'd.

Thanks to side switching, you can unlock all available costume slots through missions. Five costume slots is still the maximum.

Ha. My dad kept a dime in his pocket for anyone who complained about him pulling them over with the line:

"My taxes pay your salary, why don't you go catch real criminals?"

    "Here's your refund, sir."

Erm, Phedra? I'd suggest using Oppressive Gloom instead of cloak of fear, since you do get some disorient in your primary. I would also suggest taking the extra slots out of Soul Transfer to put 'em in Thunderstrike for some more damage.

Hey, you wanted high population. Deal with the consequences.

If you're going to shoot yourself in the foot, don't ***** about it when you don't have a band aid.

  11. Quoting so I have the questions. Responses in this color.

    2. What ATs do you mostly play, and for what reason(s)? Tank or Tankermind or Warshade. I like being self sufficient and able to hold a team together. Notice that all three of these can tank.

    3. Redside, blueside, purpleside, or any combination of the above? All over, primarily blue and co-op zones.

    4. What are your favorite story arcs? I'm going to go with Westin Phipps.

    5. What makes you like this game? The community, hanging out with friends.

    6. What other games do you play? League of Legends.

    7. How long have you been playing? Since 2004, but a few breaks while I was in school.

    8. How many alts do you have, what is the average level range, and how many are level 50? 15 characters, 8 I play regularly, 3 50s at this point. Two alts are in the 40s, the rest are all under 20.

    9. Do you bother with softcaps, set bonuses, and all that numerical stuff? What difficulty settings to you normally use? Good $deity, yes. Most of my enjoyment is getting the most out of a character, or turning a character that shouldn't do well into one that does very well. See my Dark Armor Sucks video for reference. I run on the highest setting a character can handle. I try to run TFs at +2.
I hope to see a summary of your findings and your paper when you're done.
  12. We don't get free costumes because it's an easy way to make money. I'm going to regard the GR costumes as free, and the complete edition ones as "paid for" because, by all rights, GR would be bought for the other content. Morality and whatnot.

By making costumes that cost money, they are able to spend more time on them and make them look better. I view that as more than acceptable. I wont' pay for costumes I don't want.
  13. Heh. Sounds a bit like "I was having trouble tanking until I remembered to turn my armors on."

Some characters have a learning curve. Playing these characters is not like riding a bike.
  14. Well, if you really wanted to make the guy a tank, I'd just go down a few forums and roll a bloody tank.

Do you use mids at all? It's got a lot of handy tools for finding the bonuses you're looking for. Also, check here for smashing/lethal defense sets, and here for energy/neg energy.
  15. Considering that you're invlun, I guess you're looking at getting to the S/L softcap.

All you need for that are a few kinetic combats.

I used to be like this. I just don't have the time anymore, but I'll tell you why I do it.

It's bloody fun. I love mashing up bad guys with seven other people nearby, chatting and having a good time. I play my tank mostly, so I'm not doing the heavy lifting. Well, I'm the one getting hit, but I'm far from the awesome guy on the team.

I broadcast in the TFs channel that I'm forming an STF, or ITF, or whateverTF and the first seven people available get invites. I spout my macro chain of rules* and we get on our way.

*My rules are basically there to protect the team. The most important rule is "at all times, you must be having fun." I'm not an overbearing leader by any stretch of the imagination. I have kicked two people in my history of teaming. One went AFK on the spawn point for the flyer in the STF. The other started swearing at my teammates because he didn't like how they played.

Which from my experience means they are then rolling over to TFs for their merit needs. ITF particularly although since merits, I see them all advertised all the time.
Fixed. Do your tips, switch characters and do some more. I know plenty of people that already do this with TFs.

The ITF is done most often, I think, because anyone (either side, any alignment, level 35+) can join as long as they've done the intro arc, making it the easiest to recruit for.

Except merit farming is already done through Ouro and if the AVs were left un-downgrade-able, solo TFs would be the worst place to farm merits.

As it stands now, the best merit farming is going to be done through tip missions, I think. All of which are solo-able.

Teams already get an XP multiplier to offset the fact that XP is being shared. This is offset by content becoming easier to get through due to the way teammates aid each other.

Because of this, I am against both the AV-EB downgrade as I am against a decrease in the merit reward. If I'm doing the same task, I should get the same reward. EDIT: But I probably wouldn't fight too hard against it in the spirit of compromise.
Argh, me and my John Kerry today. Ok, I'm back to my original suggestion. Minimum team size becomes the minimum spawn size, AVs can not be downgraded, and the rewards don't change.

This way is best because soloing TFs will be done for the challenge, not the rewards. XP/time will always be better on a team. Merits/time is not going to be better solo since the AV cannot be done quickly. People won't drop farm because TFs already can't be set for -1. The challenge hasn't changed, though, so the merits shouldn't either.

On second though, I think this would be best. That way the Ouro version could award less merits, as they could likely be done much faster. Additionally, this would probably have the option to spawn the AVs as EBs.
  22. For what it's worth, I'm no longer opposed to removing the "teamgate" to TFs.

Here's my proposition: Change the minimum team size into a "minimum spawn size." Much like Bill's view, it doesn't prevent soloing, but it sure as hell discourages it.

The reason you see so many scrappers is because they are still that damn good.
I'm not denying the power of scrappers. I'm vehemently advocating, though, the much greater power of defenders. It's no surprise that the fastest TF times are all done with all defender teams. Look at the Repeat Offenders. The devs have stated that these guys (using all defender teams) have been making stupidly difficult tasks into trivial matters since day one.

A good scrapper is a force to be reckoned with on his own, and few defenders can compare when they are solo. When you start adding scrappers, however, that's all you're doing. As you add defenders into the mix, you multiply power. This is the main reason I'd rather have something else on the team. A scrapper is awesome. A support character makes the whole team awesome.

You're correct that any AT can do the content. I just ran an all kheldian ITF a few days ago. Wasn't the fastest or the easiest run ever, but by $deity it was a blast.

I respect your desire to flip out and kill stuff, too. It's a great way to play the game. I always say "if you're having fun, you're not doing anything wrong."
