Quote:The mission doesn't have to be soloed; if you're having that much trouble, grab a friend. Lady Grey, when she gives you the mission, issues a big bold warning that you should bring friends.I guess I'll just have to keep slogging away at it until the random number generator gives me a lucky enough run to win.
If you're on Virtue, I'll be happy to walk you through it tonight. Just send me a tell in game. This goes for anyone reading. -
You won't be bumping up against the flight speed cap while slotting hover, unless you've got siphon speed in your pocket.
I'd throw flight speed enhancement in the default slot, as well as in swift. -
Where are you people finding the infinite spawn missions? I've been looking for one for AGES. Personally, it sounds like a lot of fun. The last one I found comes close, but the spawns stop as soon as the portals die.

Quote:I know you play bots/traps, but I disagree with the second half. This mission should not be a problem for any bots/traps mastermind, of which I am one.I play Bots/Traps, for pete sake, Im more than at home with tactical application, thank you.
Quote:And no, I didn't run straight into the room. I DID kite, mostly because with softcapped defences its nigh impossible not to.
You lay caltrops down in the hallway before the room? Maybe a tripmine or two?
EVEN IF the room is already FLOODED, target the portal and send a volley in. Immediately pull back to bodyguard mode. Deal with what approaches slowly through your minefield and caltrops. Target the next portal and plink at it if you must, but by $deity, this mission should never be such a problem as you've described for any self respecting bots/traps. -
Quote:By "think ahead," I mean "prepare for an EB fight that could be really tough. Glance into the room before you jump in. Notice there are portals that may or may not have already spawned rikti. Think of a way to deal with it before BUTTON MASH."If by 'Think Ahead' you mean 'Have either Omniescent Knowledge or have to read up every detail of the arc before hand to have a chance' then yeah, I object to that. Understandably, I think.
Quote:And theres nothing I don't 'Understand', thank you very much. There is nothing challenging, I.E. something that requires tactical application, about zerg rushing Rikti.
Quote:For all this continous harping on about 'Use ST attacks' and 'Pull the EBs then!', believe you me, I tried. In my mission, however, the Rikti seemed determined to home in on me as soon as I came into LoS of them again. Meaning by the time I got in place to pull the Honoree, I was under attack from the 100+ horde already. I didn't get a god damn choice, capiche? -
Quote:Again, you don't have to. You're doing a good enough job implying that if we don't play your way, there's something wrong with us.I have never told anyone -- on the Forums or in-game -- how to play their character.
And calling me sycophantic is giving you the moral high ground, how exactly? -
Quote:Well, go to hell with your go to hell with the no drop thing.Yeah, again, Go to Hell with the 'No Drop' thing. Seriously, do people not understand a game is meant to be fun?
Seriously, do you not understand that some aspect of the game has to be challenging? Or perhaps, require you to think ahead? -
Quote:Another thing: Notice that with the way you phrased this, you are telling me that I must not be a roleplayer. You further claim that all roleplayers will chose certain level 50 characters to become incarnate and some that won't.For those of us who enjoy roleplaying, we will choose certain characters to gain Incarnate assention. Just because Batman cannot change the course of mighty rivers does not make him any less viable a character as Superman or Wonder Woman. In their own way, each is an Incarnate (Brain, Brawn, and Heart, respectively).
Both of these are untrue. I happen to be a roleplayer with three level 50 characters. All of these level 50 characters will become incarnate. Any other character I get to 50 will also become incarnate because it makes sense to do so. They are in the City of Heroes world, and in the era of the game, more power is required to save the world from the next threat. To do so, my characters will become incarnate.
You even said that each one of your examples is an incarnate in their own way. Is your imagination so limited as to cheat your characters out of content that they should be able to do, as they are beings within the City of Heroes universe. -
Quote:The correct spelling is sycophantic. If you're going to use "big words," I suggest you do it right.Let's just agree to disagree, since Sam and his sychophantic clique are only going to continue to twist my words around so that they can boost their post counts.
You're still ignoring the implications that your highlighted phrase makes. You are saying, in no uncertain terms, complete with passive aggressive tone, that anyone agreeing with Sam does not value their characters.
You may not be telling me how to play, but you're calling me an insensitive, unfeeling twit for not playing your way.
EDIT:
Further, your statement is now lumping anyone who agrees with Sam into this group of AE exploiters. In fact, you're pretty much claiming anyone with multiple level 50 characters never left the AE building or knows how to play the game. -
Didn't have a ton of time last night.
Log in to my DA tank.
Duo the incarnate arc with friend's plant/rad. Maybe an hour.
Respec'd tanker to pick up Oppressive Gloom, Quicksand, and Teleport. 20 minutes.
Spend 150 of my 500 saved Vanguard merits on one ingredient.
Form up a +2 LGTF to be run by the standard ruleset. Twenty minutes.
Play through the +2 LGTF, killing anything in our path. Got another ingredient and a total of 10 shards. Two hours.
Crafted the Cardiac boost and tried to solo a Pylon. Still not enough damage to overcome regen, but at least my attack chain is endurance sustainable. -
Quote:First: The only one here twisting words is you, what with your misquoting.I have to wonder why you are twisting my words around and saying that I am advocating a '1 player, 1 character' system which does not take into account that people not only have multiple alts on their account, but actually have multiple *accounts*.
Second: You flat out said that anyone who would go incarnate with multiple characters views them all as valueless pieces of a collection. -

Quote:I don't have one to check with myself, but you could go into combat attributes and check your stealth radius.I've returned after a long hiatus, and find that the nova form I slotted with Freebird's Stealth doesn't show a stealth effect icon. Could other people try this out, and let me know if the stealth is no longer working this way, or if the icon doesn't show for anybody for some reason, or ... anything else that might help me make sense of this?

Dark Armor Tank for 12 levels (Necessary armors, Dark Regeneration, no auras, no attacks, just taunt), fire blaster for 18 (gets me up to Blaze), Bots/traps mastermind for the rest (Protectors, the first upgrade, acid mortar and FFG).
You've created a monster.
This character can have a full ranged attack chain, plus rain of fire and fire ball for AoE. On top of that, it has moderate resistance and a pittance of defense to everything, along with mez protection, stealth, and the best self heal in the game. The mastermind portion gives it bodyguard mode with five pets, for an additional resistance to everything, while taunt and the taunt aura keep aggro on the mastertankblastermind. The protector bots give the character another 11% defense to everything and can heal the drones/each other, while the FFG grants him another 15% or so. Triage beacon for some steady +regen if there wasn't enough survivability already. -
Quote:I fully support this.I like the Ramiel arc. However, in my complete a-hole moments (i.e. 92.45% of the time) I do wish the devs had made every mission in that arc non-droppable. I wouldn't even let you abandon it. You either get a team, succeed or be reminded of your failure until you do it.
*cackle* BWA HA HA HA HA!!!! *snort* -
Quote:Thanks for clearing that up. I hate seeing someone misquote to make an invalid argument.Actually, what Sam said is rather less absolute if you quote Sam's entire sentence, which read more like:
I, myself, was diligent enough to walk back through the posts because I didn't believe you'd make such an "absolute statement." However, I am aware many people may be fooled by such an abhorrent attempt to construe statements. -
You're missing the fact that this game is designed around making alts. It's not Sam, but the devs that have enforced what Sam has claimed.

Quote:Triform is the way I went, and I managed perma-eclipse without getting purples.Seriously. Been going over and over (and over and over) my warshade rebuild and either I just don't have enough caffiene in my system or I'm stupid (probably both).
I'm finding it damnably difficult to pull up a viable build (dual or triform) that can pick up enough recharge to perma-eclipse without going after purples.
While I can afford them, I don't exactly care to go splurging on them. Altitis has left me with a rather herculean respec schedule....
Positron's blast and Stupefy get you three of the 6.25% bonuses. Decimation (I think that's the one, should be a level 40 set) in two of the single target blasts give you two more.
Five LotG's. Cost you a cool 1000 merits, or 10 hero merits (back then, I spent the 1000 merits). Grab combat jumping and the concealment pool to fit them all.
Basilisk's gaze, four slot, in Gravity Well gives you 7.5%.
If you need it, Crushing Impact in dwarf attacks, and Oblit in the mire is an expensive 5% too (but I recommend an extra slot for some end reduction).
Hasten, of course.
Really, I think that's all you need.
There's also the new Alpha slot stuff that could help you if you go with Spiritual. -
The community. The friends I have made here are more real to me than most of my "real life" friends.
MFing Warshades. I cannot express how fun it is to play my warshade. Even to level it up was the most enthralling journey to 50 I've ever experienced. Granted, I only have three 50s, but that's just showing how many other ATs couldn't give me the enjoyment to actually get to 50. -
Sam read perfectly well, this is a strawman argument. You are saying that anyone who engages all their characters in this system must view them as valueless pieces in a dusty collection.
-
Quote:Usually I like you, Alpha, but this whining has to stop.Hard to target through 100+ Rikti all with names over their heads.
Hard to get near through said Rikti
Hard to actually hit when all AoEs are insta-target capped.
Hard to deal with all that AND Angry EB.
Next.
/macro Portal "targetcustomnext portal"
Done.
I have only had the time to duo this mission with a friend. I brought my tank, but I ignored the portals and held the EBs while she ran around plant controlling "100+ rikti all with names over their heads." Halfway through the fight, I realized that Honoree was there with Holtz, which also explained why my health bar moved. I never went near the portals, and she accidentally managed to destroy them herself.
This is going to be a piece of cake on my bots/traps, and easier still for my warshade. I'm slightly worried about my warshade taking on trapdoor, since I won't have an army to buff myself up with, but there are still more than enough ways to deal with him. -
