If you have perma-eclipse its maybe.
I like the flexability to be able to fight when eclipse is down for an unfortunate reason like a death, or if I am down to the last mob or two and dont feel like shadelocking into another spawn just yet.
*shrug*
Playstyle choice.
I keep two armors and tough and weave even with perma eclipse. -

Quote:Decent way of looking at it.Theoretically the Human form should be about mid-way between two other forms. Tougher than the nova but not as damaging. Better damage than the dwarf but weaker. In practice I just wasn't feeling it.
Not as much damage as a dualmired nova, but way more control, and not as squishy as a dwarf but susceptible to mez/stuns/sleeps/younameit. I am of course assuming that you did not ignore toggle armors, and have a perma or near perma eclipse setup. No taunt like dwarf, but taunt in the toggles.
I acually find human to be more survivable than dwarf in a lot of situations. Not having to drop armor for stygian, longer mire duration (peramiable), and a massive singletarget damage move combined with aoe damage, and two nukes combine for some nasty devastation.
Human is a viable build of its own. -
... nothing like seein someone get droned to drive away the hordes in rv either.

Quote:A few questions from you first.1. Do kheldians perform their function(s)?
2. Are kheldians unique and interesting in their role, or are they simply a scrapper and a blaster smushed together?
3. What's the playstyle like? (Are you sitting in squid form on teams facerolling 4 buttons, or are you changing forms and using all your abilities?)
Thanks very much in advance for your support. *Back to reading*
1) what function(s) do you want to preform with your Warshade?
I have 2 human-only builds for 2 different roles to play on a team.
1 is a dps-er build designed to offtank squishies in a midrange combat position while dipping into tankpiles for corpses, and 2 nukes.
The other is a far less roller coaster ride, packing a self-rez and intangability, never dropping toggles, and plays as a controllery build able to stun crowds of bosses.
2) Kheledins are unique and interesting in their ability to define their own role, and be buffed by the team based on team build.
3) When i multiform its more of a choice, do I blast hard and let team steamroll, or does the team need offtankage from a weak scrapper. When I'm in humanform my role is defined by my build choice, as I outlined above. I find humanform better for offtankage personally, with a perma eclipse as well as selectively choosing toggles, I'm able to proform in my chosen role of offtanker more consistently. However I've not nearly played the time on my forms build as I have put into Snixnix. -
Please discuss. I want to hear the communities input.

Personally I like that /bind Lshift "powexec_name shadow step$$powexec_name black dwarf step" example. The elegance of it is that if your not in the right form it simply wont work and will move to the next command, or if your in the right form it will be unable to execute the wrong one. I believe I used a bind like that on my triformer, but its been a while since I've done forms. I stick mostly human and ignore the whole issue
Quote:Do you rebind everything when you hit numpad3?bind numpad3 "bind lshift "powexecname Black Dwarf Step"$$bind t "powexecname Black Dwarf Mire"$$....and on and on
I think that still works.
I know about bindloadfile usage and loading binds in binds, but i'm not quite sure what your talking about here. -

all though I haven't raised any DP'ers to far yet.
The set has only been out a few days.
Gonna have to wait for a few months to find a "real" guide to the set. At least. -
wiki was of no help.
still connecting to live. -
How can I redirect the mac test contents to connect to testing room server?
I cant seem to figure out the right extension rename. -
Thank you The Ocho, great to have a reply to so many questions at once, and you have answered all my questions and more.
Thanks once again.

If the level 20 unlock get's rid of Elitist BS like this, then good.
I personally enjoy VEATs more than HEATs. That said, I've seen some very good Khelds, I like the story behind them and I think they look cool. Thye just don't quite gell with my playstyle, is all.
Should they be some 'uber leet grind-for-gear' style AT? No. For every 'n00b' that unlocks them, there will be someone willing to take the time over them and do it 'right'.
And hey, if people do end up complaining about them being 'not leet', maybe they'll get another looking at and some more buffing, tweaking and polishing?
I never said they should be "uber leet grind-for-gear" but having a unlock AT 50 for your FIRST 50 is nice. It is a way to reward you for your first 50.
Yes getting 50 is easier nowadays.
Yes some will do it right.
I look forward to the influx of new khelds.
HOWEVER.
I do not like that its 20.
By 20 you simply dont have enough experience picking powers and slotting them to be able to play a kheld effectively IMHO.
Call me elitist if you wish, but thats not my intent at all, as I would rather see them unlocked via storyarc than simply dinging cape/stamina level.
My question still remains unanswered by anyone including rednames. What is going to be the reward for first 50? There needs to be SOMETHING. -
Still no redname post as to why lvl 20 or what will replace the first 50 reward.
I find this disheartening. -
-
Quote:I think the same could be said about Defenders and Controllers, though.
As for a new 50 reward? You've got me there. Actual end-game content seems to be it. That being said, again, 50's still do have the most options in terms of what they can do. To paraphrase the old saying, "a 50 is its own reward."
And of course, a question I haven't seen yet (or missed): what about people who get to 50 and don't like Khelds or SoA's? Not much of a reward for them, is it?
The "actual end-game content" that you speak of must be purchased IIRC. Not much of a reward is it? -
Quote:I agree entirely, but why sour a new player on khelds by giving them an at they have no idea how to handle? The drop to 20 is not my main issue. My main issue is now "What will be the reward for a new player once they hit 50 for the FIRST time?"Let me rephrase, then...
level =/= skill
veteran's status (ie, length of time playing) =/= skill
A good player, especially one that decides to educate themselves (through guides, Paragonwiki, just listening*, etc) and is playing with people willing to help/teach them (last I checked we still had one of the best communities for a game ^_^), should be able get a hold of *EATs (and the game) pretty quickly.
*This is assuming they're not getting bad advice from people or are playing with those "there's only one right way to play/slot/etc" mentality folks. -
Quote:Thats kinda my point is it not?
I've seen more than a few stupid, awful Khelds and SoA's. Getting an *EAT has no bearing on player skill and everything to do with XP earned. Its not like the game gives you a quiz and only gives you an *EAT if you get a B or higher. There's no way to guarantee someone will have the skills required to build/play an *EAT at 50.
At least getting to 50 gives you practice on power choice selection and slotting. -
Quote:But still?Something else I thought about the EATs unlock level dropping to 20 - right now, they're just about the only exclusive level 50 bonus/content in the game - but GR is bringing in an entire new endgame system, so the need to have EATs as the "perk" for hitting 50 will be replaced by something larger and more complex.
Do you really think the average new player will have the skills required to build/play an EAT at cape level? -
Quote:You know, I realised where that whole problem comes from. It's that ridiculous "epic" in front of the name. The devs may have specified that "epic" means the ATs are tied to the plot of the game more strongly, but to most people "epic" translates into "super awesome special mega thing of unparalleled excellence". Kinda messes up expectations.
And here's my question to you: After getting one toon to 50 and unlocking Epic ATs, what reason, then, is there to get 50? If the only reason to get to 50 is unlocking EATs, how come people bother to level several toons on both sides to 50?
To play an archetype at 50?
The reward I speak of is for your first 50 -
Quote:My complaint is about the downgrading of an "epic" to non epic status.
Demanding that EATs remain for people with level 50 toons, however, is just you saying "No, I don't think you're good enough for my special ATs! You're not allowed to play them until I deem you fit to play them!"
Where is the endgame reward at 50 now? -
The devs involved in the nerfing of warshades and peacebringers should take a good long look at http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=208792 the thread about it on the kheld forum.
-
plain and simple we've become downgraded to capes.
what is our endgame reward now? -
Quote:oh lord you want moar powers to have to pass up because of a tight build?!I actually wouldn't mind seeing a Kheldian Epic Power pool. The Epic pool could actually be quite a large one with a variety of powers to pick to better flesh out ones build.
nah I agree.
Kheldians ftw -
