  1. Katana/Willpower Brute or scrapper. The Scrapper will do more damage, the brute will be more survivable. Willpower is a great combination of def, resist, and heals that is very smooth to level, and katana just throws it's survivability over the top with divine avalanche. Its very powerful on SOs alone.
  2. I'll throw out an unusual suggestion, a KM/Ice stalker. The -damage stacks from chilling embrace and your KM powers to help offset the low hp cap of Stalkers, icy bastion is awesome, and using CS to auto recharge buildup is more fun to me than chasing the fury light of power siphon. The silly sounds of KM even sound a little like glaciers shifting.

Sticking with scrappers, I'll second the energy aura suggestion. The graphics of KM and EA really look nice together, and EA has a easy soft cap, stealth, taunt aura, heal, and recharge bonus going for it.

The best you can hope for is a weapon skin for broadswords. Shield will never allow two handed or dual weapon sets, so Titan weapons is in the same boat as Katana, Dual Blades, and Claws.

However, if you count Defensive sweep, Titan Weapons has four aoes in the set. It has no need for shield charge. Against all odds would have been nice though.

It's also a pretty quick set thanks to momentum. When momentum is up, they really do animate very smoothly and quickly.

    I don't. I was only addressing Damage.

This has been fixed, there is a no fade or pulse option for cloak of darkness now. You still have some fluff floating around you, but with color tinting, you can make it negligible. Dark armor is far more forgiving to your costume than Energy Aura.
  6. I have a Elec Armor/Titan Weapons tank in the teens, and it has been my favorite tank set to play, ever. Defensive Sweep is still the required tier 1, and while bruising only affects the target you have in the reticle, the fact that it is your bruising power, a +def power, and a wide cone make it the best T1 tank attack available IMO. The next two ST sets hit HARD, which make it one of the more damaging tank sets I've played. There is a end usage issue, but that will be cured with slotting and power sink.

I will be rolling one of these come live, and with as damaging as the tank is, scrappers and brutes will be devastating.

both should do more damage than brute and tanker.
Except as it stands, scrappers do more damage AND have higher survival. The way the damage rankings SHOULD be is Tanker<Brute<Scrapper<Stalker. The way it IS for solo output is Tanker<Stalker<Brute<Stalker, but on teams Tanks contribute more total team damage thanks to bruising.

Edit: and outside team buffs keeping them at the damage cap, the in game damage difference between brutes and scrappers is so low as to not be noticed in normal play.
  8. If the HP cap isn't raised, then I would like to see dull pain and it's clones changed into energize clones. The extra Regen and end discount would be far more useful than having most of the +HP wasted due to the low cap.

I would also like to see the damage scalar bumped to 1.25 for the at. If this requires lowering the damage of an AS Crit so be it. I dislike the lack of aoe in the melee sets, and would like to have some of the missing aoe powers thrown back in. But I don't think making AS or placate an inherent is the answer without granting additional slots.
  9. Stalkers were supposed to be "melee blasters", but there ended up being sub=par scrapper with a niche that doesn't really matter in todays game, which is single target burst damage. Controlled crits are nice, as is a 31% crit chance on teams. The problem is that almost all Stalker sets give up AoE attacks in order to get Assassin Strike, and AS is an incredibly situational attack on teams.

There are some sets that are are superior on stalkers than on other ATs, notably Elec Melee and Kinetic Melee. They both have a faster animating AS to make it easier to use, More AoE than usual for a Stalker Set, and some neat tactical tricks that other Stalker sets lack.

Add to it the fact that most stalker defensive sets give up a more useful power than hide for hide, and are hampered by the low HP cap of stalkers. Several sets have a Dull Pain clone that has wasted potential because it will go over the HP cap without slotting.

There are some serious issues with the AT, as based on the damage>survival scale stalkers should be the highest damaging as well as the least survivable. They are currently the least survivable and behind on damage against every one except tankers, but tankers will still be contributing more to a teams overall damage output thanks to bruising.

That said, the playstyle is unique, and can be a lot of fun. It's also the only at you can play /Ninjutsu on, which is a seriously fun set.
  10. I've been taking a Elec/Titan Weapons tank through low levels on beta and Titan Weapons seems like a great tanking set. Defensive sweep is the tier one, so your required bruising attack will also give you defense and is also a good AoE. Bruising only affects the target of the cone, not everyone you hit, but still the best tier 1 Tank attack imo.
  11. At least the ability to be a few inches taller than BaB/Marauder and shorter than 3 feet. I'd really like to roll a 2 ft tall Dewdrop Fairy with Titan Weapons as a tribute to Toot Toot from the Dresden Files, but 3 feet is just too tall.

You obviously didn't read my entire post as I was stating that the resistance cannon would work as a customization option FOR BEAM RIFLE. I then said that the mini gun wouldn't work well with AR but I never said I agree with a huge gun power set.
  13. I'm hardly campaigning for a new tech set, as throwing can easily cover the Gambit card throwing or alchemical devices as well as exploding shuriken. What I have an issue with is a generic magic blast set when fire, radiation, electric, energy, dark, psi, and ice all exist and can all be magic blasts. Give them alternate animations, use the rune aura and you are set. You have 7 sets that can fill a magic blas concept. I agree that those sets could use alternate animations to convey a more magic feel, but the sets I suggested do not have anything existing to fit the concept apart from playing a scrapper or a control set when you really want a blast set.

War Mace or axe are the best bet. Both can use the shovel, which looks freshly used, and the bone and shillelagh options for mace are appropriate. The latter looks similar to a knobkerrie if you are going for a more african feel.

  16. I don.t really think that there should be a "magic" set for any at. Magic is an origin, not a power set. I don't think there would be a problem for sets to have a more "cast" like alternate animations, but most magic blasts in fiction or comics are either elemental blasts like fire, ice, or electric, pure energy like energy blast, mental assaults like psi, or netherworld blasts like dark.

Back on target, the resistance cannon should be a customization option for beam rifle, but the mini gun doesn't really work with AR.

The two blast sets that I would really love to see are thrown weapons based around the scrapper weapons mastery pool and a tk blast set that combines levitate and propel based powers to actually simulate throwing a car at someone.
  17. I have a claws/energy aura brute that I love. I like EA slightly more than SR due to energize and energy drain to give you more tools than SR. As for scrapper vs brute, I prefer brute. Spin is so much better on a brute than a scrapper, the brute high end dps output is nigh identical to the scrapper version, and brutes are more survivable and have better epic pools.
  18. You may want to go brute and do Stone Melee/Regen. SM has no redraw, a great mitigation tool in fault to break up damage, and a higher hp base and cap to allow your Regen and click heals to keep you alive. Stone had high end costs, which quick recovery will help with. The aoe isn't great, but brutes have better epic options to add aoe than scrappers.
  19. I don't know if it's impossible, but I do know if it was possible i would require more work to implement than 5 other new sets combined.

If you want it for concept, there is a work-around.

It is possible to change body size and types in the costume creator, so you could make your costume slots the same costume but with different body sizes and types and use costume change macros to implement your growth powers. You are still limited to a 8 foot tall huge model, but anything bigger than that would be physically unable to move in some maps. Circle and CoT caves at least.
  20. Ambush AE farming is nerfed in 21.5, and rezing enemies in AE is already nerfed. Then MARTy is in effect, but normal CEBR stuff doesn't seem to trigger it. Farming in general will always be in effect, it's that AE abuses that make farming too lucrative that is being addressed. Worst case scenario, people will just go back to PI and demon farming missions outside of AE.

I stand corrected, sir. However in that case, you can do the same thing by going Illusion/Poison and using Superior invisibility and alkaloid.
  22. If you are willing to wait until epics for your venom spray, a Dark Melee brute with leviathan Patron pool can be very snake themed. Use a green tint on the DM powers for a venom fist effect, and the tentacles in midnight grasp look like summoned snakes if colored right. All of the cones in leviathan are you spitting poison or cold. For secondary you could go with anything, although Super Reflexes and Regen or Willpower seem appropriate.
  23. Stalker. Use hide and put aid other on auto.
  24. I have a Voodoo character collecting mothballs on Virtue that is an Illusion/Storm controller. They have an affinity with the loas Baron Samedi and Chango. The baron opens the gateways of the dead to summon spirits to fight and frighten foes (Illusion) and Chango give the power to summon storms.
  25. I'd be pleased if they kept the same damage, recharge and chance to stun but changed it to a 7 ft cone with the same arc as Shadow Maul/Sands of mu. It would be nice for stalkers and other low AoE sets to have a modicum of aoe.
