  1. Might bid on kahlan and make him do speedy ITFs over and over again for me
  2. By too n00b I meant I don't know enough to make a build. I realize corrs are much better but I don't have time to lvl one up and I prefer heroes.
  3. Liberty, on that build do you have screech in there as a set mule or do you actually use it? I am wondering if it would be any good to use boost range and screech in tandem
  4. Title says it all. Looking for a good cold/Ice defender build. I would make it on my own but I'm too n00b in PvP.
  5. I find guides with lots of misspellings/grammatical errors to generally be pretty bad. Clearly lacks editing.

  7. Lmfao@ Shaytanah......that is, if the ruler would be used for what I think it would be used for.
  8. I originally posted thinking of in-game powers but feel free to open it up to what you want in RL. For me, I'd like to control gravity. (not in-game because grav control sucks )
  9. I generally go for about 2 end/sec and also one or two performance shifter procs. I generally slowly run out of endurance but not so quickly that i dont have blues on hand.
  10. What would your build be?

Any powers, any combinations, from any pool.
  11. It's a highly debated topic. Fire/shield can easily take out bosses quicker so if you are going to farm bosses, go with fire. The issue that's commonly debated is whether it's faster to farm with an elec/shield or fire/shield with no bosses. Fire/shield has more consistent damage by using FSC religously, whereas elec's big advantage is the exra nuke. It's pretty much a toss-up between the two. I personally prefer elec because many of my other toons are fire, and I prefer elec's flashy animations.
  12. I'd go with flashing until the higher lvls where you may want a better attack chain. (even then you don't really need SotW though)

It's easier and far less expensive to softcap than /Shield, so if you're looking for an inexpensive and yet still capable combination, this is it.

/WP is also a very solid set, and if you build towards raising defense against non-positional defense then it can be amazing. The only issue I see of pairing it with FM/ is that FM/ doesn't have any mitigation to allow you to regen at lower levels - though this is offset somewhat if you take Build-up and Hasten and attacks early on to be able to blapper things to death quickly.

If you have the influence to throw into it, I like /Shields the best - more damage with AAO to boost Fire's damage, and a nuke to boot. FM/Shield is excellent for farming or AV soloing and I wish I had made my FM/SR a FM/Shield instead.

    Exactly.

My main complaint here is for brutes.
Most of their damage comes from their rage, so a +25% doesn't really help them much. 4 small reds only give them +25% dps, and even 8 only adds 67%. Compare to (most) blasters or scrappers whom these would double and triple their dps.

Similar versions of this argument remain true for /dark and /shield scrappers (and tanks), masterminds, and (theoretically) trollers who get most of their damage out of their pets. (Who would likely be the second on a team, not the primary, but still, it could happen)

Now, if that's what you were going for ("bring out your two best scrappers (or scrapper/blaster, or one of the two and a severe debuffer) to see who can down a Rikti Pylon!"), Awesome! But I think that removing reds might open up the field to a bit more competition.

Not that it really matters. Nearly any defender, controller, or corrupter with a -regen debuff will beat any melee toon in this competition, 'specially if said debuffer also has resistance debuffs (not sure about MMs). I think the only way for a melee toon to win is for he/she to be paired with a fat debuffer.

The way I play my spines/regen I'm bouncing around all the time to make the most of Throw Spines, so for me the added damage aura would be largely wasted.

But as you say, the differences (whatever they may be) are fairly small (unlike say fire/kin vs other controller builds for farming) and so for most people it comes down to what they like to play.

That said, I would reiterate that in terms of "best", in my experience consistent damage is better than spikes for farming. Firekins don't nuke nothin'
Well, if you play an elec/shield with a buttload of recharge, the two nukes are pretty consistent. If you have them both on a 30sec timer (not too hard), you get a nuke every 15 seconds. That's a short enough amount of time that one will be up every time you move to the next mob.

Using this strategy you can nuke, fireball, chain induction/thunderstrike any leftovers.

However, I agree that fire is much better when farming with bosses.

Not to mention dropping ice slick on tight mobs then using RoF.

Electric/Shield is good too, but I think it relies on the 2 nukes to be effective. Although, electric has a bunch of extra AoE powers, overall IMO I think they're subpar because you can't leverage them effectively to hit a lot of enemies at once. Jacobs Ladder - not going to hit many foes with it. Thunderstike - again small PBAoE radius. Chain Induction is the only other attack you can fire away and not have to worry about it. So, my suggestion is if you decide to go Electric/Shield is to pickup Blaze Mastery if you can fit it into your build.

It's a major pet peeve of mine when people say that powersets wouldn't be good if they didnt have (insert power). Yes, of course elec/shield relies on LR+SC. That's the whole reason anyone makes an elec/shield. By the same reasoning, you could say spines relies too much on Spine Burst and Throw Spines.

FYI, with shield's strong taunt aura, and herding, thunderstrike will hit plenty. The taunt aura keeps them from spreading out too much.

Its damage isn't really better than shields. Fire will give you an extra build-up and dmg aura but shield gives you SC and AAO. Ad it's squishier. (fire is squishier)

    Just calm down people...

    Excellent point.
  23. It would appear that way.

The question now is why didnt another leader step in to keep the events moving forward and offer a reason why felecia wasnt able to make it and why payouts would be delayed.

Im fully aware this is a game and real life issues do most certainly come 1st.. however, with 7+ chapters, with an event thats been hyped now in various forms for well over 3 months, i would think that someone would have made sure to save AOW further embarrassment... This was hyped as an "event for the community", from a "community minded" sg wanting to "do more for the community" etc etc etc.. so, 1 person not being able to be there has now caused everyone else that made plans to be there, and was there, left to scratch their heads.

    So much for the community.
I think it's abundantly clear that this is felecia's event, not AOW's. She may refer to it as a sg event, but it isnt.
