Here is the super secret movie title formula:

Step 1: Go to IMDB and look at the "Opening This Week" or "Coming Soon" lists and pick one of the movies.
Step 2: Pick a key word (or words) from the TF for the week. (Contact, AV, etc)
Step 3: Replace a word (or words) in the chosen movie title with the word (or words) chosen from the TF.

    Possible examples for this week:

    Horrible Bosses -> Horrible Warriors
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 -> Positron and the Flames of Prometheus: Part 2
Friends with Benefits -> Numina with Benefits

    Is really quite easy.
  2. The Evil Countess Crey

This was kind of a vigilante mission before side switching and going rogue were even around. It has you do some questionable things, you are briefly wanted by the police and you intentionally sabotage Crey with their customers. But the real reason this mission stuck with me was one of circumstance, where the text combined with the mission map became more compelling. After tracking the Countess down, I was lead to a cave map for the final mission. This is the description upon entering:

"It's faint, but you can hear a woman crying. She sounds so sad, and you almost wish you could comfort her."

Now, I've been hounding this woman for a while, but the notion that she's hidden away in a cave crying gave me pause. She's done some bad stuff, but her description is one of good intentions gone bad or something similar. All of the crey enemies were on the right hand side of the map, but I didn't know that until later. I went left at the first intersection and didn't find anything for a while until I stumbled into a big empty cave with just Countess Crey in it. It felt rather sad and lonely... not a minion or lieutenant to be seen... and it didn't feel at all "heroic" to bring her in, but I did. When I found all the crey minions later it was doubly troubling... like they all wanted to keep their distance from her so that maybe they wouldn't get caught in the dragnet.

There are other storyarcs that have better writing or better fights. But none of them ever had the happy accident (this separation could be intentional, I have no idea) of the map cooperating to help portray an emotional part of the story.
  3. I'll be there with Mistress Mediocrity L50 (Fortunata). Ally will be there with Ally Fu L32 (Claws/Ninny Stalker)

  8. There will be no Matinée this week, and I've chosen to stop running them in the future.

No, I'm not leaving the game, nor can you have my stuff. :P There are multiple reasons for this, and I won't bother going over them. However...

Thank you to everyone that ever signed up for a Matinée in the past. An extra thank you to anyone that signed up that didn't know me, or any of the "regulars" on the Matinée. I've seen many people come and go over the years of the Matinée, and hopefully all of you had as much fun as I did.

Also, thank you to anyone that ever led a second (or third) team or helped to organize last minute attendees or helped with some of the larger events. Your help was much appreciated.

In the end, it's the players that make a game like this enjoyable long-term, and I'm glad I got to meet more of you through this event. I won't be naming any names except two, as otherwise I would inevitably forget someone. First, thanks go to Living Hellfire for coming up with the idea for the Matinée originally many, many moons ago and handing it off to me. Also, thanks to Miss Informed for encouraging me to take over the event and for setting up the global channel for it, even though I was horrible at MOTD maintenance.

If anyone is interested in taking over the event, shoot me a PM. Not that you need to really, but on the off chance more than one person is interested I can put all interested parties in touch with each other. Or you can do so in this very thread... whatever works.

Well, the new "explanation" post is up. Badge requirements are apparently staying as described by CS (and probably still bugged). Lambda will remain far less popular than BAF even with the added Merit for defeating Marauder. My Mastermind will probably continue to avoid the Trials due to participation wonkiness.

At least they're adding down/side conversions for those that get stuck with Uncommons.

I wasn't commenting on the fairness of the way it SHOULD work. I was simply saying, even if it DID work that way, BAF will remain (for now) the path of least resistance followed by the masses. This is compounded by the fact that you can drag another 8 people into BAF and still finish it faster. If not for iXP and Empyreans, Lambda would probably be more ignored than it already is.
  16. So, what of the reports of numerous Lambda teams getting all the temp power badges in a single run?

When and how was that issue addressed? The last time I ran a Praetorian zone event with my MM, I did not get the badge until I ran one where I started firing my own veteran attacks. I was told that was WAI... and seems to be the same for the Trials.

I've run one trial with my MM and gotten a threads/inspirations only loot table. I stopped running them and switched to my Fortunata. My Scrapper who ran Trials pretty much non-stop for a week never once got an empty table like that.

If you do want extra Astral Merits on Lambda, only option is Lambda Looter, which means if you beat Marauder with no acids or paci grenades, you get a grand total of 4 Astral Merits.

As many as a BAF awards on normal completion. Leave the guard towers on or stop all the prisoners, and you're up to 5 merits. Really? Doing Lambda without using Acid / Grenades gets less reward than BAF with guard towers left on? Doing Lambda the "hard way" looks to be both more difficult and more time-consuming to me...
Actually, that's not really that surprising. BAF is the farming Trial of choice already, even if the badges/merits function differently than described, that's not going to change. The slog to beat down a no-temp power Marauder, even with 3 level shifts makes it much less time efficient than BAF. I'm sure there are teams capable of doing it pretty quickly, but for the wider player base, BAF is far more grind-friendly.

I am Jack's Complete Lack of Surprise.
  20. For those that are curious, we have been told following our /petition that the MoLambda badge is supposed to require 3 separate runs. Well Stocked and Antacid require that you NOT collect any of the other temp power, despite the fact that the badge text does not state this.

Basically, you have to beat Marauder with no temps 3 times on 3 separate runs.
  21. So these successful attempts were a SINGLE run? I ask because over on Justice we did this, but did not get any of the three badges. We also got the Synchronized badge on the same run, but some of us already had that one. Maybe our server is borked.

So yeah, if that support article is correct, this simply boils down to "beat Marauder with no temps 3 different times". That's pretty bad design for badging. It doesn't matter if the semantics are different, the other two are functionally identical to Lambda Looter.

Minimum, we should have gotten Lambda Looter (not Well Stocked). Your post has two of them switched Red, or they've updated that article... not sure which.

Just have to wait and see on a response I guess. I have another unanswered /petition that was from 4 days ago, so I'm guessing they're a bit swamped.

If there is a contribution mechanism (and I'm fairly positive there is one) I can't figure out what it is looking for (and if it is looking at the right things for Masterminds).

Conversely, three runs with my Crab Spider have netted 2 Uncommon and 1 Common right off the bat. Small sample size right now, but I'll be expanding it.
If I had gotten a Common I would not have thought there was a problem. My assumption is that an empty reward table (threads/inspirations only) is a bug. If it is supposed to show up for somone that /afks the entire time, then fine, but that's not what happened, at least in my case. Still no response on my /petition related to it however.
