That is SO Synapse... if it's something he wouldn't warn his roommate about re: a potential date, he sure as hell isn't going to tell Statesman.
THERE is a picture for you to have Images by Alex do... Statesman scrambling away from the dinner table in a crowded restaurant with a horrified look on his face after Ivy has put an icy hand on his thigh under the table.

Quote:That's okay, you can be the Blue Steel of mods.I guess nobody's expecting me to sing it, fortunately enough!
Thank you Dark_Respite, you're as creative as everI don't think I can live up to all of that but songs notoriously enhance one's qualities. I also note I've fooled you all with my shy demeanour!!!!
Quote:It's mildly disturbing that that melody was what immediately popped into my head when I saw the thread subject in the forum list...

Quote:If Zwill agrees to sing it...Very well done.
So.... we can expect the complete music video sometime next week, right?
Actually, on the Ustream they were talking about doing a Paragon Studios karaoke party. So I think it'd be neat to have Zwill, Beastyle, Protean, and the guys doing the song.
(BTW - according to Positron, video footage exists of him singing Def Leppard karaoke at a PS party...)

Saw it last night and liked it (3 comic book enthusiasts, 1 comic book FAN!) - we all enjoyed it. Laughed at the cameos - caught a lot of the in-jokes. And I really enjoyed the dynamics b/w Charles and Eric. (Spot on casting there... wow. And my favorite scene - "the point between rage and serenity" - I was tearing up, I admit it.)
My first thought when I saw Riptide? "Okay, if they ever get around to making a DARKNESS film, there's Jackie Estecado."
Re: Banshee, not only were we making comments about Ron Weasley, but as we were leaving the theatre, the guy behind the ticket counter (who was going to see the movie the following day) was a blond ringer for Banshee. He couldn't figure out why we were all laughing.
Must get the score.

During the Ustream chat, thanks to constant "Sound of Music" references, Positron suggested the song "How do you solve a problem like Avatea?" Zwillinger then said that Posi'd have to write it. But knowing how busy Matt is on the endgame content thing (and Steelclaw hopefully still busy on his Non-Offensive Thread), I wrote it for him.
I give you:
"How Do You Find a Mod Like Avatea?"
(sung to the tune of "How do you solve a problem like Maria?" from THE SOUND OF MUSIC)
She speaks a dozen languages
Her glasses are da bomb
She’s quelle surprise among the guys
A real life mental dom
And underneath that moddish style
She’s got lots of aplomb
She even lets Zwill sing around the studio
She’s never late for meetings
Her niceness is all real
She stays on top of everything
And handles it with zeal
And yes we love to say
Coz we very firmly feel
That Avatea’s a gift to the studio
So to say a word on her behalf
We all love her laugh
How do you find a mod like Avatea?
How do you catch such charm and make it yours?
How do you find a word for Avatea?
Une demoiselle? Mais oui, c’est vrai toujours!
Many a thing we’ve sent PMs to tell her
Many a problem that she understands
And that she’ll sit and stay
And listen all the way
How does she put up with all our demands?
How do you find a mod like Avatea?
For we are all her tres adoring fans!
When she’s with us, we’re enthused
Even when we’re all confused
About what Zwillinger has tried to say
Though she’s shy as she can be
It’s all her we want to see
On the Ustream when it airs each Wednesday
She can silence any troll
With a word or two quite droll
She could even make Jranger want to post
She is cheerful, she’s in charge,
She’s the mod who’s living large
And we all know she’s the redname
With the most!
How do you find a mod like Avatea?
Who so enriches our community?
How do you find a word for Avatea?
Ein dame messe? Naturlich! Wir lieben sie!
Many a thing we know we’d like to ask her
Many a thing we think she’d understand
But with Black Pebble there
Sadly all too aware
Our questions vanish off to la la land
But how do you find a mod like Avatea?
For we are all her tres adoring fans!

Wouldn't that just add another 100% on to all the body sliders so you could make that barrel chested, tiny-headed, too many gun-toting, skinny-waisted, bowling ball-smuggling, ballerina-footed monstrosity you've always dreamed of?
Quote:I'd almost rather see a 1950's retro B-movie booster pack, with classic "discombobulator" blasters, old Flash Gordon style jet packs, astronaut "bubble helmets", lots of kooky alien skins and heads, Jacob's ladder antennae, Tesla coils, Cadillac fins, beehive hairdos, antigravity belts, etc etc etc...

I recently added two new pics to the art collection for my COH series of novels called THE COURSE OF SUPERHERO ROMANCE, and they were just amazingly done so I have to shout out to the artists here...
The first is by AenTheArtist - he calls it "After the Storm", but the title I really see with the picture is "Down Time."
The second is by Images by Alex, who did a HILARIOUS rendition of a scene from Book I of TCOSR, entitled "Oops".
Both gents were very professional during the whole process, from initial responses to email inquiries to updates to openness to suggestions and critiques. And of course the final versions were all I'd hoped for and more. If you're looking to get commission work done, I'd highly recommend them both.

I very nearly inhaled water up my nose, since once again, I forgot the cardinal rule of "do not eat, drink, or even breathe while reading one of Steelclaw's posts".
Then Silver's post was icing on the cake.
Breathe, D_R, breathe...

Okay, this isn't the next chapter, but art relating to Book I. Referencing one of my favorite scenes from Chapter 21 of TCOSR I, the artwork is courtesy of Images by Alex over on deviantArt, whose work I cannot recommend highly enough.
The picture is, appropriately enough, titled "Oops."
Discussions, as always, go here.

Crud, that alternate channel must have been where most of Black Swan's commentary was... she was pretty verbal during our sparring in Kings Row, but my demorecord doesn't have it. *scowls*

No, it cannot be done, sadly. Those are tied specifically to those 'minions', as it were. I've tried it every way I can, and with no success. Which is REALLY annoying.
(I figured this out way back when while creating my Incarnate vid, because I wanted Marcus and Stefan rappelling in to a Cimeroran cave the way the Tier 2 Mercs do. No dice.)

I thought he was miffed that it didn't actually go like this:
QUEEN GERTRUDE
"There is a willow grows aslant a lake,
That shows his hoar leaves in the glassy stream...
There, on the pendent boughs her coronet weeds
Clambering to hang, an envious sliver broke;
When down her weedy trophies and herself
Fell in the muddy water. Her cape spread wide;
And, Hydra-like, awhile it bore her up:
Which time she chanted names of old heroes;
As one incapable of her own distress,
Or like a creature native and indued
Unto that element: but long it could not be
Till that the Kraken, tired of her ramblings,
Stomped the poor wretch to muddy death."
LAERTES:
"Alas, then, she is drown'd?"
QUEEN GERTRUDE:
"No wakes, no wakes..."

And I filmed some of it on Freedom. Granted, it probably looks more like a Powerpoint Slide Presentation than anything else thanks to the lag, though Black Swan and I had some entertaining banter as I was chasing her around Kings Row.
But then I fell asleep and missed the Pocket D afterparty.

Just for the record, *I* did not create the nickname Tavatron. THAT was someone else. Numitron, on the other hand, *IS* my creation.
Or Posimina, which I still think sounds like a type of tea. "After a hard day's hero work, there's nothing like a relaxing bath and a hot cup of Posimina..."

Quote:DOWN WITH NUMITRON!!!Which can be both incredibly useful when one of us is trying to remember how something goes because we're about to write it, and incredibly amusing when we get the strange looks from the RP'd aspects ("Yeah, so <character> got stuck with both his current and and former girlfriends, and we're running around getting to know each other while he's trying to find a hole to drop into" -- the waitress gave us a really weird look for that one, and that was one of the more innocuous comments).
Keep in mind also that while there's CoH lore, there's also Star Patrol lore, and that while the latter definitely depends on the former, the CoH lore could ignore the SP lore and keep going on. Samuraiko and I both try to keep CoH lore as much as possible when writing (although I've gone rather further outside the core basis than she has), but due to the nature of what we're writing, it's going to deviate into an alternate universe of sorts - especially now.
When you have questions to toss out, sometimes the answer will come back as "oh, it's X in CoH cannon." On the other hand, it's also likely to get "It's X sometimes, but there's Y and Z that contradict it, so we're using this interpretation because we like it better." And then on the left foot, you may also receive the answer of "We completely made that up because it fit."

Quote:Dark Astoria as the Hotel California of Paragon City. I like it.Only if they have a choice.
It could also be that the power of Mot is so vast that even in his sleep (dreams?) he can bring worshipers/victims to settle in His shadow. Without them even knowing it.
As shown by the badges, some parts of Astoria were always somewhat haunted. I could well imagine people there always being a little more grim, their health a little weaker. But they just cannot leave.

Two of our SG characters have interesting takes on DA in their storylines. One SG member 'died' there, and because his blood was spilled in this nexus of dark energy, a fragment of his soul revived itself and is now a tainted version of the original.
Another member, who is now not only an Incarnate but carries a permanent link to the Netherworld inside her, tends to hang out in Dark Astoria because it 'feels like home.'

Way back when, during my casting calls for Issue 11, I asked something like 50 different heroes, "If you could be remembered for one heroic deed, which would it be?" Their choices were: "Defeat Recluse", "Stop the Outbreak Plague", "Stop the Rikti Invasion", or "Reclaim Dark Astoria".
Every single one of them picked "Reclaim Dark Astoria."
