I actually put a lot of thought into my villains. There's one in particular who is definitely a challenge for me to RP...

[quick segue here]

One of my heroes, Andrea Blake, is a Dark/Psi defender. While born a psychic, she gained her dark powers when she was gunned down by some gang members during her early tenure as a street vigilante. Dying and returning to life, she came back with darkness powers... but she'd left part of herself in the Netherworld. And every time she dies, she's inadverently left more of her soul behind.

Cut to the villaingroup that's the antithesis of her SG, and one of their members, who also has ties to the Netherworld, finds this piece of Andrea's soul. And through blood magic and twisted science, puts that fragment of Andrea's soul into another body that's physically the clone of Andrea. Then they christened her Soulcatcher.

And now the villains are nurturing her to be like them, even though she still has much of Andrea's original fun-loving, heroic personality. Soulcatcher isn't malicious, vengeful, angry, or twisted like most of the Nova Dominion. But she still craves the same adrenaline thrills that Andrea does, so while she might not take missions or arcs that clash with her moral precepts, if she thinks it'll be fun, she'll do them.

Case in point - beat the crap out of Swan and a bunch of Longbow. While Soulcatcher had a few weird moments during the fight, she remembers Longbow being stuffy and judgmental, and so had no qualms smacking them around.

So yeah, so ambiguity in villains is a good thing.

Hey, them's that want to help, look for @Samuraiko on the Test server - I tend to hang out in the Beta Testers channel, and barring me running specific missions to try and film them (or get dialogue), I'm always up for assistance. Especially when I have to film in the PvP zones.

REAL filming starts most likely this Saturday, and I live in AZ (which doesn't do the whole DST thing btw), so if you catch me on, great.

If I need help, I will probably shout it out in the Beta Testers channel, so please don't hit me with 800 /tells of "hey need hlp filmin?" coz that gets REALLY distracting.

And oh, yeah... devs... um... you're also welcome to give me a yell while I'm filming, especially if you want to make sure you appear in the video.

Might have been the result of her trying to solve some genetic anomaly within her own cellular structure - the more she experiments, the more obvious the changes.

Could also be that, say, she has a twin who has powers. Their DNA is JUST different enough that one got them, one didn't. Your character has since been trying to unlock the genetic 'marker' that gives her powers.

Just a thought.

I wonder if I can scrape together the cash to have you do another portrait like "Close Enough to Touch", only this one would be of the dual incarnations of Johanna Sinclair (the one in her heroic ID as the superhero Sister, the other in her Ouroboros incarnation as Mender Anomaly).

*I'VE* had years of experience writing storylines and missions (as an author and a GM for roleplaying games), and I've no doubt that I'd be breaking rules too.

That was actually my idea, as far as the art went. When I was describing it to Uziel21, one of my stipulations was that she was almost entirely covered in her uniform (except for part of her face), and he was in his armor with his helmet on.

But each of them had removed one gauntlet and that would be the only instance of skin touching skin.

I left the pose up to him, though, and boy was I floored when I saw his initial renderings for my approval. I think my exact words were, "Oh, HELL YEAH!"

And as for Positron's new body getting some 'love' (no, not that way), read "The Course of Superhero Romance". (It's still a work in progress, though.)

Close Enough to Touch by Uziel21 of Hero Portrait Studios, commissioned for my story "The Course of Superhero Romance" (which was featured in the City Scoop a couple of weeks ago).

I'd commissioned Uziel21 of Hero Portrait Studios to do a picture for me of Sorina and Positron for my story "The Course of Superhero Romance", quite frankly because I wanted one, damn it. I sent Uziel21 the specs on the picture, wanting something 'close' but not too intimate.

The notion I'd had in mind was a picture of these two people who are so very adept at keeping others at a distance, both literally (him because of his armor, her because of her powers) and emotionally, managing in some small way to actually TOUCH one another.

THIS was the result.

For anyone who is thinking of commissioning Uz and HPS to do artwork, DO IT DO IT DO IT, it is WORTH IT.

All that I'm fine with... it's just the shift in PoV from Recluse to Monica in the last chapter that 'broke' it for me. Everything else, I was totally behind you all the way with.

But be true to your muse - you're the one who has to listen to her.

Just my own opinion - I really think the story would have ended better if you'd ended it last chapter. Primarily because the focus of the story shifted from Stefan to Monica, but like I said, that's just me.

Unless of course there's more of the story to go, in which case, write on!
