Quote:Unfortunately the "troops" are about as useful as a bunch of kindergarteners, and you don't see people paying attention to them. The mission gives you help. There's a team-full of Midnighters around the mansion. And when the multiple EBs show up, Ward tells you to pull them up to it so that it can help you.
So, sorry, no sympathy for those who refuse the help given them and just want to plant themselves and dominate the fight. This battle is a war for the zone and if you ignore your troops, then it's your own fault. -
Quote:That was a glitch in the Zombie Invasion code that was causing the Elite Boss-class zombies to spawn at those ridiculous sizes (which really makes one wonder what other code might have seeped in to cause the glitch...). Sadly, they fixed it a while ago.now tell me and the rest of us CASUL player who can only get a group of 8 rarely togeter how to acess thse type of monster on a dalily basis
or at all -
There's only one hope for us now...

Quote:The devs didn't pull the badges to "save" anyone, they pulled them because the badges encouraged what they consider to be aberrant behavior.I won't address Fabricator too much here since you can now brute-force that badge with a few hours of time and a few 100 million Influence to burn. As far as the "ultra-grind" AE badges go I remember that I had around 75 of them done within about a month of their initial release. I only needed to earn like 4 or 5 more by the time the Devs knee-jerked their decision to remove them from the game.
People can have their own opinion about whether or not the Devs did the right thing by their supposed attempt to save players from having to "grind" the AE badges. But I will never consider a group of badges like those which were earnable within a matter of weeks to be TOO grindy for the purposes of this game. I will always believe the Devs grossly overreacted in that case.
If by some miracle the Devs decided to add "souvenir count" badges I think they would be fine from a grindiness point of view. I am not opposed to badges which take typical players several months to earn. There are still badges in this game which take a significant amounts of time to complete, such as Leader and Immortal. The souvenir count badges would likewise be "long term goals" for players to reach for.
Also, I'm aware that some people get badges like this done in a matter of weeks, but not everybody has that kind of time, energy or focus.
Simply put, I don't believe we should continue to have (new) badges which can be "brute forced" by barricading yourself inside for a couple hours (or worse yet, AFK farmed). We have enough stature badges as it is. -
Quote:If you're having that much difficulty with it, try turning your difficulty down to -1, pop a few purples, oranges and reds and go to town on the EBs. And I may be mistaken but isn't it the case that you only need to defeat one of the EBs? I seem to recall the mission ending when one of them is defeating but the other still stands.I gave up on it, after going back and looking at it again. My view, the thing is a wart on the face of playing through the Night Ward segment. Just totally took me out of all feeling of immersion and having to focus on every little stat, power use, inspiration rationing, etc, etc. Doesn't add a single thing to the experience of Night Ward at all. It is just a long grind fest, unable to auto-complete, dealing with that hedge maze's numerous impacts on moving, the zerging mob spawns, and ends in a overpowered encounter with EBs. It isn't a challenge in a recreational game at that point, it is pointless and aggravating over done filler content of an overly ambitious mission design. Maybe if I one day find a group with an hour and a half to kill, I'll try it again just to get the Ward story arc done.

He's still in the Cimerora that we visit as a zone.

The Mission Architect fulfills this. Not especially well, but you can do it.
Or just roll a Mastermind. -
The mission, while annoying, does not require a team.
Regarding your debt complaint, please refer to my sig. -
Quote:Couldn't do it without removing zone events from Independence Port (phasing breaks zone events), and phasing wouldn't change their appearances in story arcs anyway. They should of used the phase tech they have to phase them out when you complete the SSA1, or left them in.
Also, *should have. Not "should of". -
All the City of Heroes music you could ever want...
...almost. There doesn't seem to be music from any of the trials on this page.
EDIT: Regarding the FTP site, directory access seems to be locked down, although it does still seem to be possible to access a specific file if you know which subdirectory it's in and what the filename is. -
Quote:The badge isn't even currently meant to be obtainable. The fact that it has been obtained surprised the devs as much as anyone. It'll require much less league-tweaking with future Incarnate slots.I just...the "we HAVE to have X number of X powerset, and we CAN'T take more than X number of X powerset/AT" mindset leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
Yes, I get that it's an incredibly difficult badge to get. Yes, I understand the seeming necessity of a very specific league makeup to accomplish it. Yes, I get that once the "barrier" of receiving the badge, others can "tag along," but it still strikes me as not CoH-esque. -

Quote:The amount of crafting badges they added was a mistake, IMO (I'm still working on Fabricator). Remember when they took all those ultra-grind AE badges out?I suggested that when the souvenir count was in the low 200s.
Time to make badges for 350 and 400!
The purpose of a souvenir badges is for doing all the content. Which is the core of the game. If there's a badge for farmy and grindy stuff like a ridiculous amount of crafting, then there most definitely should be a badge for... you know... playing the actual game content to 'completion.' -
Seems roughly instantaneous to me, the sound effect of Rage crashing on my Tank coincides with my damage buff numbers going into the deep and depressing red.

Quote:I did say it was part of the reason, not the entire reason. And if cable companies would pull their heads out of...let's say "the sand" and look at what online music stores have done, they'd realize there IS money to be made in a la carte sales. It's rampant because it's easy.
It wouldn't be any less rampant if they offered up channels ala carte, unless they also figured out a way to stuff the filesharing genie back in its bottle.
The make more money selling bundles, so that's what they do.
You're right, the filesharing genie isn't going back into its bottle. Instead, companies must learn to leverage the technology behind it while giving consumers what they want instead of shoving what they think consumers should have down their throats. This is already happening, but way too slowly in my opinion. -
The cooldown on his summoning is 60 minutes so I would assume the rewards are the same.

Quote:Part of the reason I like the "souvenir count" badge idea better than the "do all the Ouro arcs" idea is that you'd have a choice about whether or not you wanted to do Ouro arcs to get souvenirs or not. This way if you really don't want to do all the Ouro arcs for badges you wouldn't have to. Also this idea would be open-ended so every time the Devs added a new arc to the game (of any kind) there'd be a new chance to increment your souvenir count.

Quote:No badges are mandatory (except Knowledgable, I suppose). What's your point?I didnt miss it at all, this is for the badgers who have finished most of the other badges and are looking for a challenge. Again, not mandatory. SO if you dont care to do FB badges, then do badges that you are interested in.
I don't just do badges that I'm interested in. I do all badges eventually, I'm not sure why you'd call yourself a badger if you didn't. That's why I'm not interested in a badge that is just going to be pointless grinding of arcs I've already done on other characters (or worse, arcs I've specifically avoided because they're tedious legacy content from Issue 0 that nobody ever plays for a very good reason). The original Flashback badges were grindy enough, thanks.
By the way, I actually have tried to do what you propose, completing every story arc in Flashback. I think it was on my villain main (who is also my villain badger) before side-switching. I'm pretty sure I finished it for the story arcs that were available at the time; it was tedious and not fun at all, and I sure as hell don't want to do it 3 more times (blue and redside for my hero badger, blueside for the aforementioned villain badger).
There will always be more badges to challenge you. Right now The Really Hard Way is the top one, and future iTrials will have their own Master badges. There's also the WST assist badges, the PvP zone badges, and plenty of other nice grindy stuff to keep you busy.

Quote:You're totally missing the point of what MisterD was trying to say. If you're into badges, you're probably already working on a bunch of the more tedious badge groups (the current set of Ouro badges, the Invention badges, iTrial Master runs). This would just add fuel to the flames. Add to that the requirement to do a bunch of the game's less interesting content (most of the interesting arcs already have badges associated with them so a badger has already done them), and it's just going to be a tedious slog. Between badging and a terminal case of alt-itis, I have enough stuff to do in the game, thanks.
Thats the beauty of this. Badges are totally voluntary so if you are into badges, it gives you something to do that isnt over in an hour and you get to enjoy some content you havent seen in awhile, and if you arent into badges then its no harm no foul.
EDIT: Also, many badgers have one hero and one villain badger, dating back to the days before side-switching. Crossing over to get the other side's badges was annoying enough, I'm not doing every single damn arc on both sides twice.

I actually saw a picture that shows the timeline pretty well, hang on let me find it.
EDIT: Here we go:

To be honest, the only part of it I remember is that awful dual-AV fight at the end. That alone makes it not worth the price of admission.
