  1. That's great. Thanks for the information everyone.

. The only reason to get the power is to boost healing from aid self (medicine pool).

    [/ QUOTE ]

and to get a ridiculous hight tohit buff from aim and build up.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So Power Boost + Aim + Build Up = Instant Happiness?

In other words, does Power Boost increase the effectiveness of Aim & Build Up? Given that they both give a boost to accuracy and damage, does this mean that their damage buff is increased?

Forgive me if this sounds foolish, I thought that Power Boost only boosted the secondary effects of powers so would it for example, increase the Damage buff on Aim and the Accuracy boost on Build Up? Or am I making this up?

I'm leaning towards Fire/Energy simply because I can't always guarantee teaming with aggro managing toons and I've already seen first hand how Fire/Fire solo is good for getting those debt badges...!

    Thanks everyone.
  3. Hello everyone.

I'm currently looking at rolling a new blaster and I'm a bit torn. I want high damage so I've chosen Fire as my primary but my secondary is proving to be a problem.

If I want total annihilation, I could choose Fire as my secondary but I've played as a Fire/Fire a little bit and although the damage is great, I found the lack of control and the endurance issues a little frustrating.

I've used Energy secondary on another of my Blasters to great effect as it too has some nice damaging melee attacks and I can keep foes a little more under control by knocking them back or disorienting them. I am curious to know whether Power Boost will enhance the DoT of the Fire primary though.

I've read some great guides on Fire/Fire but does Fire/Energy play well together?

    Thanks.

  5. I share your concerns so perhaps another date would be more appropriate. Monday the 18th anyone?
  6. Well as long as the two events don't clash, the 20th should be ok with me too.
  7. Well I wanted to guage possible responses and it seems to be a popular idea. Therefore, I guess the hunt is on for a date!

Personally, I would like to nominate a Wednesday night as I'm not around much at weekends.

    Woah mama!

When I first started, I avoided anything with low HP but a year later and Blasters are easily my favourite AT. Defiance is a nice inherient but I'd like to see it come in a little earlier. I have to be scraping 5% HP to see the bar move these days.

To be honest, I don't get the 'all blasters live with debt thing'. I don't seem to faceplant any more than any of the other ATs I play. Maybe I'm doing it wrong...?

I think the best tip for a blaster is to not be afraid to run away, learn your ranges, Aim/Build Up is your god and don't forsake your secondary set. Good luck!
  9. Hello everyone.

Xmas is coming and the goose is getting... nervous...

I anticipate there will probably be a Xmas party of some kind in the near future for players to meet up but I was curious to know whether anyone would care for a roleplayers Xmas party as well? A chance for our characters to put on their glad rags and party the night away in Pocket D.

I thought it might be a nice idea. I'd be curious to know what others think.
  10. I can't disagree there, I love it.

Speaking of PvP, if I wanted to be at least competent in PvP, what powers work well from sonic/energy? I'm suspecting that Screech and Stun must be pretty handy but what others should I consider putting in so I'm at least not tasting floor the moment I enter a PvP zone?

    Thanks.
  11. Knockback as a rule tends to be both a blessing and a curse. I hardly ever use Shockwave while in a team although I have occasionally when I've seen three foes pounding on a squishy who can't get away. I certainly appreciate the annoyance it can cause, I groan every time I'm playing my Defender and a power blaster sends everyone whirling out of Tar Patch.

I guess the main reason for keeping Shockwave is that solo it can be good for preventing me from getting swamped when Energy Thrust isn't enough.

And funnily enough, I have seen two sonics on a team as there's another one in my SG who I team with occasionally. It can be rather loud.
  12. Oh no, I won’t be getting rid of Shout. We like Shout. Shout cause BIG damage! Gotta be loving that one.

I figured that the stats on NoFuture were in error as I’ve hardly ever seen any damage being done by Screech (and even then, not even in the same league as Shout).

At the moment I’m toying with dropping Shriek and keeping Scream and Howl as my two standard blasts as they appear to do the same level of damage (except one’s a cone and one isn’t). If only one of the Vet Rewards was an extra power slot, I’d be happy…
  13. Hi folks.

With i8 around the corner, there comes another opportunity to respec my sonic blaster (currently lvl27). I love just about every power in the set and have all of them with the exception of the nuke (of course). However, in trying to fit everything in, I am going to have to sacrifice one power from my primary and I’m torn as to which one it will be. Current possibilities to lose are:

Howl: As I’m approaching 30, I’m beginning to notice a decline in the amount of damage it does. However, I team a lot so it’s useful for applying the debuff to the whole spawn so not sure about losing this just yet.

Shockwave: Does very little damage but one of my two panic buttons, exceptionally useful to prevent me getting swamped by lots of foes.

Shriek: 1st tier power so little damage but one of the few powers that has any decent range to it. Strategically useful for knocking off those last few points and saving on endurance.

Siren’s Song: Useful solo, less so in teams, I’m considering leaving this out of my build as I expect that foes will become more and more sleep resistant as I get higher in levels. Would I be correct in this assumption or is it useful at all levels?

One last thing I noticed when looking at stats on NoFuture was that Screech seems to have the same damage values as Shout. I haven’t noticed it doing huge amounts of damage but then so far, I haven’t been slotting Screech for damage but for disorient duration. Would I be better off putting damage enhancers in there too?

I’ve never managed to get a toon past 30 so I’m not sure of how these powers will play out at higher levels. I've read a few posts here but still can't make up my mind so any advice would be helpful in making my decision. Thanks.

    Freedom 5!

This is more or less how The Militia got started, with a team balanced by having all five (or seven if you want epics) archetypes.

The main problem you may have is whether you are tied to the idea of having all five playing at the same time. Are you willing to play as a team if one member of your team can't make it? What happens if a player drops out, do you actively try and recruit another of the same archetype to replace them or accept the imbalance and soldier on? We've been going for just over nine months now and our SG looks nothing like how it started.

It's a good idea and one that certainly evolved into the best SG I've been in. When we're all together an in our matching uniforms there is something that feels delightfully epic about it all so it's well worth trying to start something like this up. I wish you the best of luck.

I tend to RP my villains in the SG base, or Pocket D as my main places. I don't RP my villains much though as there seems to be less interest.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Pocket D seems to be gaining in popularity though. I've seen quite a few people roleplaying in it now compared to how it was when it first arrived. I've always thought it was a shame more RP didn't happen there as there is far more potential conflict in having heroes and villains in the same room. Plus, by having heroes present, it would potentially cause the villains to form a more united front rather than bickering with each other. Who knows, with the arrival of arena consoles to sort out differences, maybe Pocket D will become the place to be at last.
  16. Hello, it’s me again.

Sorry to ask more inane questions but I’d like to know whether it’s worth having stealth and invisibility in PvP. I generally like to have the pool open on most of my characters for PvE purposes but I’m not sure whether it will be worth it in PvP. I imagine that a lot of people will have tactics buffs up to their eyeballs so will be able to see straight through invis and stealth. Is this the case?

However, I will probably be teaming with an illusion controller so will stealth stack with group invisibility?

    Thanks

No problem. I just shudder at what I have unleashed onto the boards...

As it is, I will probably pick up Kick next anyway just so I can get to Tough. I was just curious to know whether the damage buff on Follow Up made it worth getting.
  19. I've played Empathy, Kinetics, Force fields and Dark and of them all Dark is my favourite. Why?

Because nobody bugs you. The other three meant that any team I was in I'd get "SB plz" and "HEAL!" the second any of them ran out like I was looking after them and them alone. I guess Trick Arrow is like that as well although the most fun I had with it was accepting blind invites to teams and watching their disappointment when it turned out I couldn't heal.

Plus, Dark looks great, feels nice and eerie and I can't wait to have a pet Fluffy to run around with too.

    AR/Dev in PvP

    [ QUOTE ]
I had a /Dev for a while, designed specifically as a stalker hunter and to be honest, the most useful trick I ended up with was dropping caltrops in water where they can't be seen and standing on them.

Any hidden foe sneaking up to AS me is suddenly revealed and hops about holding their feet while you and your friends, umm, kill them.

I should be. Glad to know there'll be other RPers around. And drinking ones at that too.

And RPing in a no-RP team can be great fun, but sometimes leads to frustration

    [/ QUOTE ]

I roleplay all my toons unless I'm in a PuG where I would expect a hostile response. To be honest, I very rarely get a chance to get to GG so I just RP all the time anyway.

    AR/Dev in PvP

    Hi there.

I'm slowly being lured into PvP (I'm on the slippery slope now....) so I'm curious whether I'd be able to take my AR/Dev Blaster into PvP zones and do ok. I know that AR/Dev is a bit underpowered compared to other sets so I'm curious to know whether it can hold its own out there. I've read that the drone is useful for spotting stalkers, are there any other powers that would be useful?

Advice, tips and recommendations for a complete PvP newbie would be most welcomed.

    Thanks.
  24. Hi there.

After riding the squishy levels of my Claws/Regen, I'm thoroughly enjoying playing him but I need a little advice on the Follow Up power. I understand that a successful attack gives you a brief boost to Accuracy and Damage however I've read two separate guides which seem to conflict on what it affects.

One says that it boosts accuracy and damage as a whole, therefore using something like Focus or Evicerate afterwards would give me a massive damage output. However, the other guide states that it affects only base damage meaning that the bonus is almost worthless.

I know the damage it deals on its own is not huge, it's the bonus that I'm curious about. Can anyone enlighten me on whether this is actually worth taking? Thanks.
  25. Sad to hear that pal. We miss FC and his puns (no, honest, we do!).

We'll be holding the fort here for you when you return. We're the Militia, we don't give up on people.
