The Militia
And people think its just the Freedom Phalanx that have trouble with evil twins
After the assault on the Hub, FBI agent Michael Thunderhorse tracked the culprit to a cave in Salamanca which appeared to be heaving with rogue members of the Lost and a bunch of animated corpses. Before the team could engage though, they received a distress call from former member Weatherfront who requested urgent assistance in battling a giant amongst the hills. Once the giant was sent sliding to the bottom of the valley, the Militia headed on to the cave.
Wading their way through the ranks of the Lost and the shuffling zombies, they noticed that many of them had a devotion to her or their queen. It wasnt long before they discovered the villain who had attacked the Hub and according to Mr Sandman had killed Robert Hemlock, the leader of the cult who supposedly was summoning the Shadows.
As Bill Marcone, Commander Snow and The Amber Banshee joined the other two in battling against her, three things became apparent: The woman, the self-proclaimed Lady Shadowsong was the spitting image of Amber, she was very arrogant and imperious and finally, confirming the theory that she was a dimensional double, The Amber Banshee was unable to use her sonic power against her without harming herself. When defeated, Shadowsong dissolved into smoke, promising that they would meet again. A further inspection of the cave revealed elements of her plan to target the Carnival of Shadows for their psychic masks.
Following leads provided to them by MAGI and Powerstone, the trail took them to Peregrine Island, where they discovered the Carnival on a rampage, enraged by a series of attacks on them by Shadowsongs minions. As they attempted to quell the chaos, it became apparent that the queens target was none other than Vanessa DeVore who had gone into hiding to avoid the conflict. -
I'm already GMing a similar plot for The Militia which has cracks forming in different universes and dark creatures from the Void slipping through. Portal Corps have lost contact with a few dimensions, one of which the team got to witness being destroyed through these cracks.
Story so far is here: http://union.virtueverse.com/index.p....80.93_Present
The irony is, I started it before I even knew what the plot for the new Doctor Who was going to be.If it's of interest, there's no reason it can't be expanded outwards although I am working towards its conclusion now. There could still be long term repercussions from the events in the plot.

I haven't been impressed so far but as you say, the thread has become a "I want it NOW!" thread so I can't blame him for needing to wade through the many responses before replying.
My honest feeling is that it's hard to refer us to someone from EU Marketing because it's impossible to refer us to someone who doesn't exist. I think that all that is left next door are some server maintenance guys and Scruffy the janitor.
I spend my days hoping to be proven wrong. -
Hi Darth, welcome to the forums. Let's see about what we can do to help you with your questions.
Quote:Pretty swift these days. There's not much of a penalty for death anymore so levels can go reasonably quickly. One thing I will say though is that CoH/CoV is not about rushing to the level cap and going raiding as it is in WoW, it's more about enjoying the journey. So although it's easy to pick up XP, it's the experience on the way that counts.1) How quick is it to level on average compared to other online games?
Quote:2) Can one change the size/mass/appearance easily in COV ingame? Or is it all rather preset? I read you could change the costume but what about the physique?
Quote:3) I love the design and background of Lord Recluse, how does one unlock the Arachnos classes? And how do these classes work exactly? Are they prestige classes that specialize a chars powers? Or do they override?
Quote:4) Is it possible to do the entire game as a Recluse loyalist or is it one of those games where your hand is forced to eventually oppose his scheme(s)?
Quote:5) I noticed there exist gamecards for this game but given that access is at times a bit unbalanced to them, does one have to have VISA to pay for the subscription or can one just use bank transfer or paypal?
Quote:6) And most vital... i heard that some people lost their chars after being gone too long. Is this the case in this game?
I hope that helps and that you'll join us soon. -
I'm not even going to start hoping that that would ever become a reality. I just know I'd be setting myself up for disappointment. Still, stranger things have happened.

Quote:I know not of these heathens! (And I speak as a proud Heathen myself.I get enough folks telling me I make lousy videos, thank you very much. More are not needed.
)
Awesome stuff as always. Your videos are always what I point people towards when they want to know what's so great about this game. -

That's a common issue for a lot of us. We spend more time in the tailor than solving/committing crimes.
Welcome to the City, I hope you enjoy yourself here. Any questions you have, feel free to ask, we've heard them all by now. -
I have a US account and I've tried about three times to start up over there but never with any real enthusiasm. It's not about Vet rewards, my friends are here, my characters with years of history behind them (maybe not as important to non-roleplayers) but to just drop all of that and move to the States is a huge leap. I've just cancelled it for the third time because although getting a PuG over there is easy, I miss my friends and social groups. For me, this isn't just about how easy it is to get a team, it's about community. And I'm not ready to leave the EU just yet.

Others have said it already but CoX is very much about the journey. The multitude of power choices and options are geared towards people repeating that journey with different 'alts' rather than getting to the level cap and grinding for superior gear. There is certainly some of that, especially if you get into inventions and PvP but it's not required.
I play plenty of my 50s chasing badges, unlocking contacts and costume pieces and working towards great builds but I also play plenty of alts and enjoy levelling them. So I'd advise enjoying the journey and playing as 50. They both have their merits.
I hope you do feel at home here and choose to stay. -
The Spoile was still mulling over the remaining questions, not sure whether asking his attendents would count as cheating. One of them was close by, nervously looking at her watch, conscious of the time left on the bombs. It was then that the sneeze could be heard from above, echoing through the air vent.
"What the hell was that?" he asked, reaching for his staff. -
Quote:As the owner of two Arabic characters, I endorse this idea. Not sure about the Flying Carpet bit, seems a little too stereotypical for my liking. But good ideas so far.A new Booster pack with Arabian Fantasy in mind to include:
Flying carpet travel power and carpet customization. Variants include decorative carpet, fire, ice, rock, and tech board.
New costume options to include a variety of turbans with plumes, head wraps, vales, sashes, vests and other attire sutable for the genre.
New sword costume options to include Scimitars, khopeshes, kilij, and saifs.
New emotes to include crystal ball reading, snake charm, belly dance, and whirling dervish dance. -
Quote:There was?Well the recent 'hate' thrown by the general public in a Unionverse event towards heroes, which admittedly appears to have been caused by an demon of some kind, has got me wondering.
In general, the public seem pretty accepting of heroes of all origins so to have any overt objections would seem a tad stupid. However, I can't believe that every citizen wanders around going, "aren't heroes wonderful." There are some comments made by civillians in game that suggest that heroes aren't always accepted or admired. So I reckon it's quite possible that even if there's nothing overt, there might be some underlying hatred or lack of acceptance that still permeates society.
In terms of characters or events, The Militia faced off against Pure Tomorrow who were similar to Humanity First in terms of wanting to keep the human genome 'pure' or untained by mutants. On the other side of the coin, my main villain is someone who believes that mutants are simply superior to others. The reason for this is due to lack of acceptance when his mutation first occurred. If he had been anywhere else than amongst teenage boys (because they're always soooo accepting of difference) then he might have not become so militant. However, as that occurred over 30 years ago, it's not so relevant to today's society. -

Guilty as charged guv'nor. I think I've read too many so the slightest mention of it gets my back up. Plus, I play both sides anyway so it all seems a bit pointless to me.
-
Joys of the internet. I never can tell when people are joking or not. Apologies.
-
It's called Union. Please can we get past the rivalry, we're divided enough as it is.

Quote:Can I be Lord Summerisle then?Well I guess the world really did shrink then, if we are all locals?
*peeks out the window and makes a wave to the nearest window where I suppose there must be a cox player*
Well in seriousness, yea CoX Eu is more like a small village like Damz said. Well atleast on the forums. -
Welcome back Coin.
Always good to see the old crowd again.
(Not that I'm calling you old or anything, you know...)
-
I'm working on it but my daughter's too young to play yet beyond slapping the keyboard and smearing peanut butter down it.
As much as I welcome the ideas for boosting numbers on the EU servers, I do think this would create more grief amongst the community than good. I remember the hell that was caused when Union got a DXP weekend but Defiant didn't. I feel this would cause some resentment between NA and EU players.
As an EU player, I don't feel that it's unfair that NA players get more servers, they simply have more people to accommodate. It would be like adding an extra server to the EU, all it would do is spread the people thinner. A lure back to try Going Rogue would be good so perhaps a reactivation weekend some time after GR hits would be nice but at the moment, I am waiting to see what 'solution' War Witch was hinting at.
Still, suggestions for helping our community to grow are always good to debate. -
Complete opposite, yes, I would struggle. A perverted exaggeration of your own beliefs, less so.
My main villain is a pro-mutant supremecist who takes Nietzsche's ideas to the extreme and ends up quite radical and zealous because of it. Still, somehow he manages to be soft and cuddly to some people he cares about. Go figure.
I must admit to struggling with characters who are truly evil i.e. they know what they're doing is bad but like doing it anyway. In four years of over 30 roleplayed characters in CoX, I've only ever managed one. As the game doesn't really encourage 'real' evil (it settles instead for being an agent of truly evil ones) this isn't so much of a problem. But I do have to tuck all empathy aside when I log onto that character. -
Thank you very much War Witch for voicing our concerns to the powers that be and coming back here to give us the official word. As you've no doubt gathered, we're used to feeling a little bit forgotten about over here so for you to have taken the time to find out the current situation and bring us this news means a lot (to me at least).
I'm curious to see what emerges from the 'in development' box as after having devoured the information that's come out of PAX, I'm looking forward to the future of the game. Although some of the answers aren't what some of us would like to hear, getting those answers in the first place is a good thing. So thank you. -
Quote:The Spoiler seemed flustered. This was a great opportunity! He seemed to become nervous and agitated as if his geek credentials were being tested.Terrance begun his questions, he really needed to keep this guy distracted.
"Please answer the following questions in order, there are five questions, ranging from easy to difficult, answer all five correctly and you win the fabulous prize mentioned..."
"Question one, name the series, episode and episode air date that featured this music?," playing a brief snippet of the music."
"Question two, what role in which 1983 fantasy film was British actor Bernard Bresslaws last major feature film before he died?"
"Question three, 'who loves you and who do you love?' name the film, the role and the actor playing the role from which the quotation comes."
"Question four, name all the fantasy and science fiction films and TV series that actor Kevin Sorbo has starred in."
"Question five, whose biography is entitled 'If chins could kill: Confessions of a B Movie actor'?""
Some tough ones and a few easy ones, Terrance would hope it would keep the villain distracted long enough for someone to snatch the belt...
"Oh um... I know these," he began. "Right... number two... Krull! I love that film, um... number five: Bruce Campbell! Yes, love that guy, err... number four... Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, um, Andromeda... um, some of Xena... number one... oh, gah! I know it... der der dum, dum, der... arrgh..."
Behind him, his cronies packed up the photography equipment and the laptop, getting ready to move out. -
Patience LD, some of us only just got up.
You may wish to look down the user guides for Dominators, listed here:

Personally, I found this one a very good overview of the Archetype although it is quite out of date now and missing the recently added Earth Control/Earth Assault sets. However in terms of your role in a team and what types of powers to look for, the advice is still sound. Just ignore the bit about us being low damage.

The Spoiler turned to see the sudden advertising blurb next to him.
"Ooh, what's this?" he exclaimed with delight. He studied the advert with interest before motioning to his assistants.
"I think perhaps we might be done here," he said. "This combined with the pictures from this show should be enough to convince Professor Malevolent that I am evil enough to join his organisation. Let's prepare to bring down the house!"
His assistants nodded and began packing up the photography equipment while The Spoiler fiddled with a device on his belt. He'd allowed half an hour for the event but the bombs could be accelerated easily enough...
