Thanks for the suggestion but changing it did nothing. I'm still locked out 24 hours later.

    *Deep sigh*
  2. So including myself, I count four EU accounts here all locked out by the same bug. Sounds like an issue with EU accounts then.

I'm particularly annoyed as I didn't have this problem until I followed the 'official' advice to change my password so I could log into the forums. Now I can access the forums fine but I'm locked out of the actual game.

I'm hoping that it can be resolved soon so I can enjoy this so called headstart over the weekend but I'm not holding my breath.
  3. We only interacted briefly, mostly on Dr Who threads where for a change, I got to see the shows before the US. I had always figured that with the nuking of the CH/VC forum, he'd given up posting.

However, I always enjoyed his threads, his love of the Whoniverse and his appreciation of certain redheads.

    Travel safely Lord of Time.

Instead of "you have entered an invalid password" it SHOULD have been telling me "hey, we've changed our password criteria and your existing password is too short, too long, doesn't contain a combination of letters and numbers" or whatever.
I'm seeing this a lot on these threads. What exactly are these 'new rules'?

You see, I could access the game fine just not the boards. And then I changed my password and the situation is hillariously reversed. I can get onto these boards but the game keeps telling me that the Account Name or Password is incorrect. So I'm desperately trying to find a solution while Account Support implode with the amount of queries they're getting.

I use a combination of letters and a number and my password is eight characters long. Is this insufficient these days?

EDIT: Forget it, just got told this on my umpteenth attempt to reset the password:

    Quote:
•Your password should be between 8 and 13 characters, beginning with a letter, and containing only numbers and letters. It must contain at least one number.
So it doesn't look like it's a password issue. Frell.
  5. Changed my game password.

Now able to log into forum.

Cannot log into game at all.

    Not happy.
  6. I'm in hell with this.

Last night I could log into the game but not the forums. So I changed my password.

Then I couldn't get into either of them. Finally I was able to log into the forums but now, I can't get into the game at all. I either get:

The username or password you have supplied is incorrect or

You must complete your Username and Password before logging in.

So I'm not particularly happy right now. With this issue and the added downtimes smack bang in the middle of EU peak times, my 'official headstart' has lasted approximately three hours in total.

No crime for being a fan of awesome TV programs and their spin off media.

I am required each year to do something embrarrassing. I'm sure it's written in some cosmic lore book. However, for a change it was not at the cost of my dignity. This time it was finding a limited edition, 24 hour, one print run only t-shirt commemorating the finest Firefly class ship to grace the skies, ordering it from America, taking one month to get here, preserving it to wear to the Sunday of the player meet only to find...

The Spad already sitting there in the t-shirt before me. Bugger.

Thanks again for organising everything Kall and for introducing me to Caramelattes.
  8. We need pictures! The all furniture costume contest and the winning costume entry... a small hunkered down thing that appeared to be... having trouble with his undercarriage... urk.

And I will dance too should any such official dare to show their face!
  11. I'm staying quiet this time.

I learnt my lesson last year.
  12. I made my Dark/Kinetics Corruptor with a Vampire/Leech theme to him. Not only is Siphon Life up very regularly, with a Kin, I can siphon speed, health, endurance and damage.

Not so hot solo but quite powerful on a team. My other vampire is Dark Melee/WP but you said you were only after Blasters and Corrs for now.

    EDIT: Dammit! Ninja-ed!
  13. From the Wiki:

    Quote:
The lead cryptologist, an Indian woman named Seetha Neremanu, deciphered the code in a matter of hours. Dr. Neremanu immediately alerted the UN Security Council that a gigantic planetary devourer was heading our way. The thing’s name was unpronounceable in human speech, so Dr. Neremanu named it Shiva, after the Hindu deity “Destroyer of Worlds”. Shiva, Seetha added, would reach earth within a year.
That said, I still think the Dream Doctor is a possibility. In his memoir, he says:

    Quote:
I still work among you - looking for answers. But I've also begun searching in the dreamspace for a way to protect you, and the rest of the world, from a fate that grows closer with each passing day. Something is coming and I must find out what it is before it's too late.

I have never been afraid to ask for help. If you remember anything about me, please remember that. But this...this is something I must do on my own. I'm going to try and save the world... again. But by all means, don't let that stop you from trying to save it first.
Now to me, barring some other catastrophic entity coming to kill us all, that sounds mightily like the Coming Storm. I don't even consider the thought that he's talking about Goatee Statesman and the Clockwork Collective here. This sounds like an actual threat. However, also from the wiki:

    Quote:
Can you ever really kill a dream? The Dream Doctor will always be alive and well in the hearts and minds of the Midnight Squad. At last report however, he was still in dreamspace seeking ways to prevent the Circle of Thorns from ascending to ultimate power.

    -The Dream Doctor
But I have no idea where that quote comes from.

However, consider this: If the Thorns still pose a threat and are maybe tied in with the Coming Storm in some twisted way, they'll be getting a lot more of a showing in the future. That might well be why we've just seen them revamped into full on Neon Porcupine mode.

I hadn't seen that letter before but your conclusion is exactly what was suggested to me too. I reckon each of the Menders may well have as equally dodgy backgrounds. We already know that Twilight's Son is suspect, I wonder what Lazarus' story is?

I think the phrase: "Keep your friends close, your enemies closer" would be appropriate around now.

I'm just waiting to see whether that part of her character has been retained over the intervening ten issues. I sure hope so.

Have the Tsoo summon an ancient dragon ghost (like the Ancestor Spirits). It could be some sort of guardian like the existing Tsoo ghosts already are. Technically speaking, it is easier to create since it will be an NPC that has whatever movement and powers (and placement on a map) the Devs decide. It could be done similar to a Hydra tentacle even if they use a traditional Asian dragon look (which would make the most sense anyway). We all win!

Best yet, you'd be able to kill it and probably get a nifty badge like Dragon Slayer.
That reminds me of a post I made about three years ago calling for more Giant Monsters and making them more of a Zone Event. Along with a Carnival Parade in Peregrine, a Freakshow Demolition Derby in Brickstown and a Vahzilok Meat Monster in Galaxy, I suggested a giant, Tsoo summoned Fire Dragon that weaved its way through the streets, setting things on fire. Players would have to fight the dragon, any surrounding Tsoo and put out the fires it started as part of a Zone Event.

On topic, I love dragons. I'm a huge fan of dragonlore and have about three or four characters based on dragon mythology. However, I would hate to see them as a Mastermind set. Mainly because dragons are meant to be huge, unbridled sources of power akin to D&D or Asian dragons as mentioned above. Seeing them lowered to being some villain's henchman would be hugely belittling.
  17. Sometimes I wish I knew less about Ouroboros than I do.

Many moons ago, just before Ouroboros were about to be introduced, I overheard some very interesting information about them while at a player meet from someone who shall remain nameless. But it was about as close to an official source as I could get. What I heard though, sounded absolutely awesome which is why I’ve been looking forward to this storyline for so long.

    *SPOILERS INBOUND*

From what I was told, Nemesis is not responsible for the Battalion invading but he is responsible for crippling humanity just when it needed to be at its strongest. Because he began the dimension jumping (yes, he did supply all that Superadine) and then caused the Rikti war, he left the world decimated and lacking in sufficient metahumans to be able to repel the Battalion’s invasion forces. With humanity crippled, he laid elaborate plans to continually clone himself until a time when time travel was invented. He could then utilise that to travel back to now and make sure we were prepared or even stop the invasion from happening altogether. This involved setting up Ouroboros and recruiting his fellow Menders, even if they did come from very questionable sources (I’m looking directly at Mender Tesseract here, watch her, she’s dangerous).

Now what I don’t know is how this now fits in with the Incarnate and Praetorian content. To me, they feel shoehorned in, as if the set up of Ouroboros fed directly into the endgame of fighting the Battalion but then Going Rogue happened and we took a diversion into Goatee Paragon. What I knew back then also used the Invention system to fight the Battalion, an idea that seems to have crashed and burnt so I’d imagine the story has been reworked too.

As for who the Letter Writer is, I think it’s likely to have changed a number of times over the past ten issues depending on how the story was being written at the time and who was writing it. If I had to hedge a guess, I’d go for the Dream Doctor simply because it seems to fit his style. Plus there is a link between time/memory/psychic plane that works for me. Unfortunately, given how canon has been treated recently, I’m expecting it to be something lame like Nemesis (yet again) or even worse, ourselves from the future. I’d love it to be something incredibly left field, such as Emperor Cole or Lord Recluse or even the Hamidon himself but I’m not holding out much hope. Likewise with travelling to the Rikti homeworld, even though it would be exceptionally cool.

Despite the facepalm worthy moments we’ve had with the plot so far (I really, really hate having my character written for me), I’m looking forward to seeing it resolved, even if it does mean trusting Tesseract given that she’s *MMmmmmppph!!!* (Sounds of hand clamped over mouth and struggling)
  18. I've only had one name change in my time here and that was my global. And yes, I was very sad to lose it. Even now I still look at it in chat and glare (poor choice on my part, I know). It's still probably the most depressing thing that's happened to me in game since I started playing here.

I think I'd do almost anything to get another chance to change it even if it means finally moving to something completely different. Which'd be a shame given it's how pretty much everyone knows me across the internet, MSN etc.

    Unperched

Welcome back Obsidius and congratulations on your imminent fatherhood.

It really is the best adventure ever. CoH lets me be a hero on the internet but being a dad lets me be a hero in real life. Best of luck to you.

That said, if this is the COT we get, then I suppose I can live with it. Beyond that, very nice of the devs to listen to the fanbase, hope things get resolved in a way that makes everyone happy.

    Ok back to my life.
    *Struggles to breathe*

    Okay... that... was... AWESOME!!

My Circle of Thorns battling mage is so going to change his battle cry to "Have at thee Flamboyant Pope!!!"

Out of all of this, you sir WIN.

  22. Well that was nice. I kind of enjoyed being in the majority for a week, it gave me a warm fuzzy feeling. Oh well.

These are an improvement but a minor one at best. The minions seem dull compared to their robed predecessors, the thorn motif is waaaaaaay overdone and the Boss classes remind me of Christmas trees. All the Death Mage needs is a gold star on top of his hat.

Still, kudos to the Devs for listening to the complaints, the community mods for collating the feedback and all involved for winning most of the forums back. Well done.

    So rude!

Yeah, that was a tad rude but I can sympathise.

I have an RP character who happens to be an SS/Fire Brute (created in all innocence I assure you, long before they became FotM) and yes, I've taken him to level 50. Every time I get a tell from a random stranger, 99% of the time there's some assumption in their message that a) I'm a farmer, b) I'm going to PL them or c) I have oodles of inf to throw in their general direction.*

I try to reply politely to them but the temptation to reply "NO! I'm not going to PL you!" is ever present. But then those kind of assumptions reflect poorly on me really so I try to restrain myself.

*The answers to the above: a) Nope, I find it dull, b) No and c) Much, much less than you'd expect for a six year veteran.
  24. I'd find the suggested method a bit tacky but still better than the alternative that was toyed with years ago, namely selling advertising space in game. Out of game, I'm used to ignoring the adverts of evil, corrupt corporations. In game, I only want to see them when I'm about to take them down.
  25. Sad news indeed. Bubba Smith and Andre the Giant helped to lodge the 'gentle giant' archetype in my brain as a kid through their performances.

Another hero from my childhood passes on. I must be getting old.
