    Tenebrous Tentacles is nice, I agree, but I don't like the idea of spending 2 powers to get that out of which only 1 could be useful (Dark Blast). At least brutes get their TT equivalent at tier 1 AND Darkest Night at tier 2. Also if TT doesn't please them they could always take the more powerful version of Dark Blast (Gloom) before DN.

    Caltrops, while it is nice, the fear is something I also dislike. I have it on my spines/fire/weapons but I'm thinking of dropping it for something more useful once I can figure out if there's anything I need. I barely ever use caltrops anyway. Between cycling my two BU's I don't ned burn that much.

    You're right about this. The only utility (PvE wise) scrapper epics offer are FA (but then a couple of Acc set bonuses is basically the same) and Conserve Power for those who need it.

    Currently out of my 6 lvl 50 scrappers I can't recall any of them having anything out of the ancillaries.

    I must add though, why couldn't we get Darkest Night if brutes did? *drool*

    I do agree about Rage being a bit OP not because it gives ToHit but because it can be perma'd with SOs only. The thing, IMO, they should do is fix the crash somehow. The -DEF doesn't hurt all the sets equally.

    The rest of the stuff; why? I don't see any point in nerfing inf/XP in MA or increasing AS damage. AS basically 1 shots everything aside from bosses, EBs and AVs anyway.


    And, IMO, there is absolutely positively zero need for a buff in defensive set tier9s. You say they should need buffage because soft-capping defense is so easy, but you seem to ignore the thing that soft-capping, in effect, is having perma Elude. What for would you need something on top of that?

    And seriously, who bothers to go and level up at uneven levels for slots before you get to DOs levels? I just cant imagine walking from the other end of Atlas to trainer to get 2 slots (which wont get enhancements in 7-10 levels) just to go back where I came from for next mish.

    Mind me asking, but wouldn't a Doctored Wounds: Heal/Rech be better in there? No bonus losses involved and it would cost some 20mil less.

    I don't actually think your assumption is true, but even if it is, surely it makes more sense to target the MA at the players who're interested in new missions than at the players who're only in it for the XP.

    I think it would be a bad thing because there are people who publish a farm arc as well as proper arcs for story while they're at it. Cut the rewards and we have them gone.

    Then there are the new players, experimenting what other players have come up with. Cut the rewards and they're off to Faultline, Talos, IP, anywhere where they can get "normal" xp/inf.

    Then there are people whose enjoyment is part an enganging story and part earning new powers (e.g. earning XP, leveling up, getting the new power). Cut the rewards and some of them will also leave. Why should they have to choose between the two things that make their gameplay fun?

    After any inf or xp change we would have the majority of current MA users gone. Not from the game necessarily, but at least from using MA which would, in effect, hurt those who just want to have fun in MA playing new arcs.

    I think this subject has been covered quite a few times and it has always ended up the same way: two teams of people arguing that farming 1) does not bother anyone who doesnt take part in it or 2) farming wrecks the game.

    I never play the character outside teams anyway so aggro is not usually a problem. With the amount of -res, -def, slow and -rech I can put out enemies are usually taking quite a lot of damage and not dishing it out too much.

  12. I dont like ice storm because in most teams a big part of its damage is made negligible if the team is fast paced. Frost breath + psy scream + psy shockwave usually do enough damage on their own to cripple most spawns. Add your team's damage to that and ice storm becomes quite useless.

    As to acrobatics, I picked it because I had 1 power slot free and it doesnt need additional slotting. Also I prefer SJ to SS because in most cases they're equal and SJ is better (IMO) if you need vertical travel.
  13. That proc sounds interesting and I might use that but there are 2 reasons for why I dont:

    1) I really, really dont have any more slots to pinch. Getting those 4 for howl was an absolute miracle

    2) Sleet already does quite good knockdown.

    Good idea though, I'll keep that in mind for some other toons.
  14. What about this? It's pretty much the build of my Ice/Mental before I changed to elec mastery. The powers are exactly the same, I just added some purples and the LotG.

    It's not needed. I run a lvl 50 ice/MM without numina or miracle. Here I was just aiming for a bit more regen to stack with drain psyche.

    Why? I only have the default slot in travel powers on all my toons. Never had different slotting over almost 4 years of play and I have never thought it needed. Maybe if you like to toggle both on in combat... But then again, a smart player wouldn't do that. Also if you hit 2 targets with drain psyche you should have quite insane recovery (around 5 EPS I think).
  19. I actually just pick sets I think 1) seem cool and 2) work well together*. After that I start thinking about how to make them as effective for the role I'm thinking as possible.

    I believe every powerset combo can be made very effective through creative use of IOs and power pools, admittably some combinations easier than others, though. This is why I dont really pay attention to min/maxing when creating the toon. That phase comes when I've decided whether I'll keep going with the character or not and what I think it will be best at.


    *Basically this means something like melee-centric characters (kinetics, scrappers, etc) won't get a set that has a lot of KB in it, or I wont combine two end heavy sets.

    Any defender that knows how to use their primary and even better if they also have noticed this thing called "secondary powerset" and use that one as well.

    EDIT: To add, some of the sets I particularly like.
    Dark Miasma: It just has so much in it. A well played Dark can reduce the incoming damage by near 100% and heal all that comes through.
    Cold: It's all-round a good set.
    Sonic: Who does not like more resistance, mez protection and a -res aura?

    Just off the top of my head. For secondaries probably archery (for RoA) or sonic for further -res but I'm not too exigant about that side.
