That's a wonderful post Kitsune.
I hadn't even considered going to Paragonwiki for that kind of info.
Tech: 31
Magic: 29
Natural: 25
Science: 14
Mutant: 13
Now then since this thread was specifically about Magic vs non magic
I'm going to combine the other groups for an overall comparison
MAGIC: 29
NON MAGIC: 83
So with these numbers close to a third of the groups in the game are magic based. That's actually more than I thought there were, however I don't think it's too many. Especially comparing to the Comicbook Genre this game is based off of. -
Quote:If your going to respond to the listing of groups, keep up with the existing list.Banished Pantheon
Bat'Zul
The Cabal
Cap au Diable Demons
Carnival of Shadows
Circle of Thorns
Council (Vampyri, War Wolves)
Fir Bolg
Ghosts
Hellions
Legacy Chain
Midnight Squad
Praetorians (Poltergeist, Wight, Wraith)
Red Caps
Scrapyarders (Ghost of Scrapyard)
Skulls
Slag Golems
Snakes
Spectral Pirates
Tsoo
Tuatha de Dannan
W.I.S.D.O.M (Foreshadow, Mirror Spirit)
Wailers
Magic: 23
P.S. Were now getting a Sorcery Pool.
In my very post that you quoted I put in 4 of the groups you listed here, I had said Croatoa x4, while I didn't list the individual groups(as I couldn't recall the names) I did account for them. Those being Tuatha,Cabal,Fir Bolg and Red Caps so lets take your 23 and remove those Duplicates....
As I was gong through this and removing duplicates somehow it went below the original 11 this was responding to. So for simplicity lets take this list and consider it the starting point after removing incorrect entries.
we have 22 entries here. now to remove the erroneous ones
Council Vampyri and Warwolves are created through scientific experimentation with genes and Nictus infusions and are defintiely not Magical. 21 groups
Ghost of Scrapyard is the only magical thing about the Scrapyarders and a single enemy does not define a group as a whole. 20 Groups.
Spectral Pirates don't have any different characteristics from the other ghosts in the game, other than the location they spawn and the hats they wear, I'm considering them a sub division of the ghosts group. 19 groups
Skulls and Hellions were categorized separate from Magic in the list originally posted by Memphis Bill, these can go either way.
W.I.S.D.O.M. has 2 other characters in it though they haven't appeared in game yet. While I can't discount the natures of Foreshadow and Mirror Spirit I don't think there is enough here to put WISDOM one side or the other. 18 Groups.
Snakes were discounted as a magical group in Memphis Bills post and I have to agree with his reasoning. 17 groups
Praetorians as a group have too many subfactions to count either way. If we wanted to we could break it down into the individual groups but I think that would actually lower the overall percentage of magical enemies when the non magic ones also get added in.(IDF, Warworks, Seers,PPD etc.)
So 16 groups with a few groups being mixed.
Not the alarming amount people make it out to be, considering the 50 or so groups covered in this thread.
16 out of 50+ is not a large amount, though this thread and the post I'm responding to show a bit of a perception flaw or general misinformation on the part of the OP. -
Actually the CoV launch marked the highest amount of Subscribers in the games history before F2P. That quickly declined due to a lack of support for COV after I7 which came out a year after I6. Now granted there were many justifiable difficulties during that time frame but the huge delay between lvl 40 and lvl 50, and the general lack of content additions for CoV(at the time) started people leaving or switching to blue side. Then the CoV population declined, then it went down to about a 2:1 ratio Blue:Red, which meant it became more practical to focus resources Blueside, which caused a further decline to the red, which stacked up and up and brought us into the Catch 22 we've been in for a long time.
Now I can't say the Devs haven't done the best they could given the stituations. I also have to admit that overall they've been decent about adding stuff to the Redside. I would still like to see the two SF gaps filled in for completeness more than anything else. -
Techbot has probably hit on the source of the visual disparities noted in this thread. Especially since the Devs have explained that reasoning on the record before. We've also seen that the Devs are willing to add more of the missing gender when they revisit groups, so long as there's no in lore exclusions going on(like with the Knives).
Also grats Techbot you finally called them Psykers. -
Was it Astrals or Empyreans? OR both?
I actually forgot that the ATO's where available from the Incarnate merit vendors found in Ouroboros -
Well for the HIDE ATO, it's largely agreed that putting it in AS is actually the best place. AS has a near 100% chance to trigger, won't cause wonkyness with an attack chain, and eliminates the potential for a unwanted HIDDEN AS.
so HIDDEN BU+AS-> reHIDDEN + Crit on next attack simple an easy to work with. -

Meh, I live near the Original Nathans in Coney Island.
F that baloney dog. -
Fair enough.
So what is that then 11-13 magic groups out of the 40+ covered so far? -
Quote:I think it's safe to put Wailers in the magic group as the story lines around them involve magic. Heck part of the reason the Giza was designed the way it was, involves creating a magical barrier to keep the Wailers out.
The wailers are demons. Which is going to bring up an argument. They're brougth here by magic - but the abilities would be natural to a wailer, so the way I see them, they're natural. (The abilities are native to the species, not given by magic.)
Basically acknowledge that their abilities are natural to them, but since the story lines all involve magic it's safe to out them in the Magic category for purposes of this thread. -
My initial response is to tell you to slag off as i'm still sour over certain proliferations that haven't happened and were said won't be happening anytime soon.
Now with that out of the way assuming that there are no Fury generation problems, and no survivability issues that could happen(though I doubt there are) it seems like it would make a nice proliferation.
Of course it shouldn't happen until those other proliferations do but that's besides the point. -

With that said my opinion is they should make only co-op TFs from here on out as it is not out of the realm of possibility that a hero may need to go on a quest with a bunch of villains and vice versa, and all three areas should soon be linked via a new system in I23.
While that certainly makes sense, due to how co-op content has been written, Villains have been feeling like they're just tagging along on hero content. So much so that in SSA 7 Vilalins actually get the line "fine, I'll go save the world again"
This is a problem, in that it just shows how bad things are. Yes in comic books there are times when Villains have to team up with Heroes. Those stories are special in that they are rare. However here it happens too often.
While I understand making co-op content is good financial sense, I'm annoyed by the fact that it is always hero themed content. To me it seems lazy. We all know that it's easier to write stuff with a heroic slant. We also know it's just as easy to create a scenario where Villains have to team with Heroes or be destroyed/loose the planet/dimension/ what have you.
What I would like to see is co-op content where heroes have to team with the Villains because the macguffin/plot device can only be used by the villains or is the villains specialty. Yes it's harder to write that scenario and maintain realistic motivations but I think something like that could do a lot to even out the TF/SF disparity. -
Quote:Batman hahaha....I find Batman offensive and all the stories written about him since the dark knight to the present is rubbish with a few exceptions like when they killed Jason Todd....he is just a man...i like to keep some logic when i read these stories if not i might as well read cartoon stories about bugs bunny and such where it's possible for the rabbit to beat the hunter......Seriously...Batman vs Superman for instance.... ridiculous idea, First of...Mr Wayne is no where close to the same level as SUPERMAN WOULD BE if he was at all...If Superman is the human in evolution Batman would be the spider monkey....and how likely is it for a spider monkey to out smart or beat not just a normal human but the very pinnacle of a human.....just pathetic. I normally pay no attention to rubbish or nonconstructive thinking but this just rubbed me the wrong way.....
Anyone who support this Batman junk is illogical and offensive to a rational mind.
BATMAN IS A RUNT, written by and for morons !!!
What was the question again O.o ?
Now I'm not gonna say you're wrong, but your argument is a bit flawed. Humans have many aspects, Superman represents the Pinnacle of Human Strength in a physical sense. Batman is a fair representation of the pinnacle of the Human Mind. Mind and Muscle, different aspects with a different representations.
As for the topic at hand, I'm going to use my sister as an example. She has no interest in comics whatsoever, she out right hates Ironman but is interested in seeing Avengers. She also wants to see Batman but has reservations about Bane being the villain and Anne HAthaway as Catwoman.
So she wants to see one with a character she definitely hates, but has reservations about the one with characters she's neutral on.
Now apply that same thinking to the general populace and Avengers has a lot more going for it than Batman does. -
I liked Freeza's brief dialog with god
"next time bring your A game"

Quote:It's got me faintly curious.
*snip*
That takes us to level 20 or so.
Groups: 36
Magic, including "mixed": 9.
Anyone want to continue? Or disagree with some placements? (May want to move this whole thing to General Discussion)
Yeah couple of disagreements.
Longbow Wardens have been presented as Mutants not Magic.
The game universe presents Psionics/Psychics as Mutant so Syndicate wouldn't be magical
Now adding more
Carnival Mutant/Magic mix
Malta are Natural/Tech
Croatoa groups 4x magic
so 42 groups now
Magic: 11 -
Well lets see
Recluse 1
Patrons 4
Lackeys 4
Arbiter Sands 1
Dr Aeon 1
total 11
So Redside has all of 11 major Signature Villains.
Since you want to talk about parity it would seem that Blue Side could stand to loose several more of their signatures.
Personally I 'd rather have a couple of new SF's instead, but if you want parity .... -
In another thread discussing the absurdity of 2X Ice Mistral again I had posted some thoughts on a potential revamp of Kings Row and included a few thoughts on an accompanying SF.
Basically the premise was that if/when Blueside gets a zone revamp that's inappropriate for Co-op Red Side gets a SF dealing/taking place in the revamped zone.
Now is that such a bad thing? Is that really a terrible idea?
I mean both sides would be getting something, and while I'm forced to accept that Redside won't be getting a 50/50 split on dev resources I'd say a SF/Zone Revamp split shouldn't be too far out of line or farfetched. -
Welcome Back.
If you like Melee try Stalkers now, they received some major improvements in I22, so much so that Scrapper players are taking notice.
Definitely roll up anew character as Atlas Park and Mercy Island were redesigned. -

Quote:If I remember things correctly CI should be jumping if the target hit dies, however if the new target dies before the chain hits, it stops jumping. Which could account for the delay (time allowed for a new target to die breaking the chain)Actually, double checking it, JC does use two pseudopets but they somehow always target only the same target. Odd. CI, however, has its jump delayed until well after its damage by comparison. My interpretation of this is that it is meant to break upon target defeat, but I guess it could be an oversight.

The ATIO adds 2/4(normal) and 3/6(superior)
so the crits become 7/14 and 8/16
