Without combos Dual Blades has a copy of Followup from claws only with a faster recharge. The empower combo only gives them an extra 8% damage and is not one I'd ever use when you could be building for a better combo (IE any of the other ones)

8% damage boost is nothing to a brute.

Dual blades can get more cone and AoE damage than Claws (unless you're fine with the big KB)

Claws can still chain damned fast with the ST damage though and my claws scrapper is definitely my highest STDPS in total.

DB probably has the absolute edge over claws, but Claws is by far more stylish, where as DB would be the most ugly set in the game were it not for Katana

Sometimes I go for the pun, I have Miss Taik, Terri Ball, Jenn Teal and Kaye Vinn. Only one of those gives a clue to the powers (Kaye's an Inv/Stone).

My first character I went for the name I'd pick if I was a hero. SchrodingersCat, seemed herolike for me. Then for my /DA scrapper I went Mist......... now my brute has that name, I don't like to lose good names.

I've never been good with themes, I know Gonk's got his Boston load which I find impressive but I just cant stick to anything like that past the first character.

Cashmere and Pashmina are the same person though, hence the linked names. So I guess sometimes I do keep things close. I rarely reference to powers in my character names. Dark Celestine seems like a power reference but he's just a Fallen Angel, hence a Dark Celestine, its more what he is than a name.

Prise De Fer is pretty much a direct reference, a BS/SR scrapper named from a fencing manoeuvre

If you have a decent team any tank will do the job well, in fact I'd always favour ice on a decent team cause of how sticky it is, nothing slides off it

Elec/Fire is aweseom, Lightning Rod is a one hit kill on a herd, if you're herding can LR one group, Burn next two, LR the one after etc etc

I remember being shocked when my DA brute hit the rikti levels cause I thought I'd walk them with my psi res. But I was wrong. They didn't cause me massive amounts of problems really but they suprised me.

Actually seeing as how they are 100% rarely resisted energy damage as opposed to massively resisted lethal damage (late game) they are not as weak as you think. Base numbers rarely tell the whole story

Agree with that entirely if Rad ever gets to become a blaster primary Rad/Fire will be a nice farmer, but until then elec will do

Her Dark Regen definitely requires a tohit checked (as proven when Nightmarer took the agro with his SR and was the only one in melee due to a tauntless team)

Normally just having the tank taunting and being out of dark regen is enough though. That's the only power you need to avoid her using providing the one tanking can stay alive. How they do that is their business not mine

WP does alright against Rikti there's not much WP fails against. The thing you have to watch out for most with rikti (as MaX said) is EN, so any tank can do it. Their S&L is high burst but not high over time and the psi damage they do is actually fairly feable. What they put out though is good continuous EN damage. Not really high busts of the stuff but it is what will kill you.

My spine/inv scrapper can herd +2 riktis without much effort and he has 0% psi protection

I agree with the above post by Rooks. Being able to play something that I've been on the receiving end and thought looked fun for the past couple of years it more exciting to me than the devs trying to squash something else into the game and try to tell me its Epic.
