Red, the issue with powers/animations/etc. is handled by this system.. to a degree. While it doesn't provide the code for stitching them together, it does provide a way for it to at least be easier.
All of that stuff would consist of pre-existing anims/weapons/powers/etc. and would each be a choice to make in the power editor. Pick power(s), animation(s), effect(s), and so on.. all from the interface. Then "developer magic" mushes it all together into a signature power and *BAM* you're off and running with a spiffy new power that you "created". -

Sure.. can't hurt. and honestly.. it would be cool to be able to play one too and have the snapshots be saved to the hard drive or something.
I like the additional facet this would add to the interaction and immersion of the game/world. -
Honestly, i'd like to see a plethora of options for flight assistance. Broomsticks, "platforms" (ice, fire, dark, electric, sonic, plasma (goo), "surfboard", a bird, etc..), rocket(?) and so on..
which also means while i approve of the idea of Broomsticks, i would also rather see it permanently available instead of a temp. (but introducing it at Halloween would be a cool idea)
so.. 1/2signed
(side note.. not to say it wouldn't be cool to see similar offerings for other travel powers. (choice of TP effects, super-jump springy shoes, rollerskates, etc..)) -
Hey! I blame you for not blaming me for anything!
and nope.. Seaside Heights, NJ -
i blame you for reminding me of the beer bong i won at the boardwalk last night.. which ended up costing insanely more than if i had just made the thing myself.
-
no idea where the rumor came from.. but i sure hope it's true!!
-
Just had to jump in here and say.. FINALLY!!
and.. HUZZAH!!
The trailer looks awesome, the concept is awesome (not just an instant switch, but slowly working one way or the other), and who doesn't love an alternate universe story? especially in comics!
can't wait can't wait can't wait CAN'T WAIT! -
I blame you for not blaming Pure_Massacre for not killing our thread.

Mission name: It's a No Good day.
Arc ID: 92684
Morality: Heroic
Length: Short
Description: There is a new group of bad guys, The No Goods! Take them down and prevent them from gaining too much "street cred" before Paragon has yet another villainous group to contend with! (This was mainly an exercise in figuring out how to use the AE/MA stuff. Includes all custom characters.)
What you were drinking when this was created?: Soda, Beer, who knows what else... (As i say, i started making this in test, just finished it today) -
A great many thanks for all you have infused this world/community with...
Fare thee well! -
lol.. agreed, Dread..
"Hey, Hey a donut.." reminds me of Family Guy..
"Ooh! piece of candy.." -
so true.. Maybe Ish 15 for timing reasons, but definitely could be worked into a related storyline.
(according to my settings, we're on page 75.. only 25 to go..)
-
Just stopping by to say.. YAY, Pinnacle On Tap!! great pics, groovy interview.. too bad a few things were somewhat amiss, but it's not a biggie.
just to mention it.. i dig The City Scoop on a general level, but you know.. when your "home team" is featured, you can't help but smile a little. *waves* -
To be honest, i don't think I13 is all that bad.. new powers (including the long wished for Shields), PvP rebalancing (although i don't know what they are or if they're good or not), Day Jobs (which aren't a bad "gimme" even if you don't care for them), the ability to have multiple builds (another "cool if you want it, doesn't hurt if you don't" thing), Leveling Pact (which seems like it could have it's "gamed" pitfalls, but still i can see it being useful for some families/friends/etc), New Missions, New costumes..
It's really a fairly well packed issue.. it's just that "the split" and loss of Mission Architect in this issue left us feeling a little empty inside.
I'm sure the release schedule is going to be a bit quicker for the next ish or two, which will be groovy. As a personal aside.. Mission Architect seems like a great opportunity for loads of fun. Even if you're not creating anything, you'll be able to play other peoples creations.. and with the kind of creative energy this community has, i have no doubt we'll see some wicked awesome mishes.
When all is said and done, i can only think of one thing..
"When's I15 coming out? And what kind of stuff will it have?"
Edit: I forgot to add.. i wouldn't be surprised if they at least threw in a few new costume pieces to help broaden the potential of community created content in I14. -
Just a small point here.. while color customization would be cool for many different features, the Signature Power does not presume this would be part of the creation process.
It's simply mix-n-matching different anims, powers, etc., which i agree could easily make for nonsensical combinations. Maybe it could be limited to certain effects can only have certain types of damage/powers, or better yet.. certain effects could *not* use certain types of damage/powers. but, even without that stipulation, i wold still support this idea. (not really bothered by the idea of someone using a weird power once in a fight.. maybe they were effected in a way that made their power work odd, who knows..) -
*looks over the plains of forumaria*
looks like we're migrating.. either that or we lost some people back there.. -
Good point.. plus, if threw both at us at the same time.. we wouldn't ever get to actually playing the game! lol..
They mentioned I15 tying up some loose ends and opening new ones.. i could see SigPows possibly making sense somewhere in there.
just as long as we eventually get this, i'll be happy. -
Lord_Bubbles.. umm.. same thing can happen with any powerset/character idea. if other people see a SigPow and want to copy-cat it, that's their choice to ignore creativity and try to emulate someone else.. in other words, no biggie.
(then again, how would they know every detail of what made that SigPow? they would have to pay attention to the animation(s), effect(s), power(s) used and any residual effect(s). good luck to anyone doing it.. seems like more effort to copy-cat someone then to just come up with your own)
basically, it wouldn't bother me.. and i don't think it would be as rampant as you are imagining.

in other news.. wouldn't it be awesome to see this in I14 or I15?!? (probably fitting for either one) -

Glad so many show support
[/ QUOTE ]
That's because it would be such an awesome feature!
/signed again.. again
although.. everyone should keep in mind that this system works off of already existing anims/effects/powers/etc. when posting SigPow ideas. -
Soulcapacitor, i see your angle.. but i'm not very keen on it. adding levels at which to actually get the SigPow to begin defeats part of the design and excitement. (even a low level hero/villain would be developing their signature move/s)
and if you're talking about creating new signature power pool powers for each primary/secondary pool.. honestly, that's probably more work than designing an interface where we can create our own. while your method may be easier on the machines, the original model would offer a much wider range of creation.. which is alos part of the purpose of the original idea.
so, kudos for a well thougt out plan of attack.. it just doesn't thrill me, is all. -

Maybe soon the idea will be reality

o.O
do you know something? or just a hunch based on the new Co*/CO competition? (either way, i sure do hope so!) -

Looks great.
Do you think we could ever get the ability to save costumes? That would be the tops.
[/ QUOTE ]
too tired/excited to read the whole thread to see if anyone else mentioned this yet, but...
check out the last screenshot in the announcement. see what it says there as the costume name? nothing from the list of presets.. nope. it says "custom".
[/ QUOTE ]
As mentioned above, if you're not choosing one of the preset costumes, then you're making your own custom costume. Choosing 'custome' means, you move on to pick individual pieces. Nothing about that implies saving the costume except for when you finish the character creation process and enter the game with it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Correct.
[/ QUOTE ]
bummer.. would have been a cool feature. but still.. awesome stuff otherwise!! -
HAHAHAHA!!!!
awesome.. love it.. too funny. "sometimes they forget to buy speakers or headphones"... lmao.
kudos NC^2!! -
