  1. Is Excalibur a Titan Weapon only? Meaning, only Titan Weapon AT's can equip it at the Tailor?
  2. Would one of you Elec/Shield farmers be so kind as to post a build?
  3. Hybrid Support T4 wasn't too bad....8% global (almost) Defense buff while toggled and a few other nice things. Its not as good as say...Destiny or Interface...but its not awful either.
  4. Per-ED and the GDN, only a few AT sets were gods, mainly melee. After the nerfs, IO's gave a huge lift to almost every AT. So while ED and the GDN were likely better times for the chosen few, everyone won with IO's.
  5. The elitists need to realize that some players collect powers like others collect badges. Its not that we even necessarily NEED the powers as fast as possible, but we have a desire to have whatever is "have-able" as soon as possible. I've already T4'd out 5 of my incarnates with Hybrid powers. In every single case but one, once crafted and slotted, I just retired that toon until the next Incarnate power comes along and then I'll do it all over again. With one of them, I actually went out and did a few more TF's just to see what the new Hybrid power brought me (which wasn't much...but then as a T4'd Incarnate, I don't need much).

People post all sorts of badge location and 'how-to' guides but the elitists don't ever bother pointing out that it would be "so much more fun to just stumble onto those badges naturally!" Why is farming an iTF aberrant behavior if following a badging guide/process is not? Its just a power. Not like getting it in any way deprives someone else's enjoyment of the game.

Well unless you factor in jealousy and petty selfishness, of course.
  6. Redname just posted that the damage bonus is bugged for pets....not working at all apparently.
  7. Bots/Time is incredibly safe and incredibly powerful combo.

You actually use the Bots ranged attacks to your advantage. With /Time its incredibly simple to softcap your defenses...all of them actually. Just dip into the Patron pool to get Powerboost and you then powerboost Farsight to get a massive bump in defense to whatever you can fit in from IO's. Search around the forums because someone recently posted a build that shows how easy this combo is to cap all defenses, even some of them for Incarnate trial purposes (where the defense softcap is 65% vs 45% for normal PVE stuff).

The play mechanics of the set are a bit redundant but that's what makes it simple:

    1) Jump into middle of spawn with Times Juncture running. This debuffs the entire spawns ToHit which, on top of your capped defense, means you pull all the aggro onto yourself and remain perfectly safe.
    2) Drop Distortion field for even more debuffing and to keep everything locked down.
    3) Bots open up from range as you get the alpha, they start cooking your held and debuffed spawn while you stand in the middle and debuff the snot out of the boss and/or LT's.
    4) Anything that survives the ranged salvo from bots (love those AoE's they pump out), the bots then close the distance and engage in melee.

Rinse and repeat....you also get a huge recharge bonus with /Time so this tactic works every single spawn. Quite easy to solo +2/x8 even at lower levels, and +4/x8 by time you are fully IO'd. Oh and the builds I've seen don't even need any purples so cheap to outfit to boot.

Its a great, simple and safe combo. Have fun!

**Edit** Here's the thread where I got my build from player Crisys. Its really the cheapest and yet most effective build I've ever played for an MM. Blows my Bots/Traps monster out of the water.

The only way to know for sure which farming toon is best is to run with Hero stats installed. Which I have done of my main farming toons.

While any toon can farm to be the best you are really limited to Brutes and Scrappers. Blasters, Corruptors, Controlers, Dominations and so on all can farm and once you have them IOed and build they all perform descently. Four builds though in by experience excel. All of these builds have full tier 4 incarnate powers and are min maxed specifically for farming.

I ran two complete maps (SL/City map) and (Reds Fire City Map) with each to get a good settled xp rate. In each run I clocked the XP on a single lowbe (level 1 to 20) with Hero stats running. All missions were run at 54x8 with the map set for LTs only (Bosses slow the xp for any build by 100K per hour). All builds are macroed so that I always have 4 red inspirations running. Other inspirations are combined into reds when I move around.

    The results were surprising.

Electric/Shield Scrapper: 500K XP per hour
Claws/Fire Brute: 275K XP per hour
Staff/Fire Brute: 250K XP per hour
    SS/Fire Brute: 225K per hour

I was really surprised that Claws clearly beat SS until I looks at two items:
1 - how often the rage crash slowed things down.
2 - Claws with follow up stacks twice giving a nice constant damage buff.

In reality though none of the brutes could hold a candle to the electric / shield scrapper. Having lightning rod and shield charge up every 23 seconds or so makes it a goddess of destruction. LR+SC+FB and stuff is simply dead and you jump to the next group. By the time you get there LR has recharged or Tunderstrike is up. For the city map Shield Electric can clear it in 18 minutes compared to the brutes which took 22-23 minutes on the same map.
What does your build look like for the scrapper?

I just ran this tonight. I got the "Lost Connection to Mapserver" message twice but if I just waited about 25 seconds the mission would continue. And yes it happened with my AoEs. Mission completed and I got the badge.

Fun mission though. 'Twas nice to be a God for a short while.

I don't think you get enough even bothering with the first 4 AV's. Just do the 250 IDF, quit League, rinse and repeat.

Doing it this way I unlocked Hybrid on my last two AT's yesterday in about 40 minutes each. We had a small farm team and when the Queue was working this was extremely fast.
  11. Hey rednames....anything to report on the Queue failures for iTrial content on Freedom yet? I've not been able to run any trials since yesterday afternoon.
  12. There is no "workaround" that "works" for this bug. Sometimes you catch the Queue operational and most times you don't.

I've now spent over 2 hours on various teams, did a fully computer reboot 3X during those 2 hours as did others and still can't get on any iTrials.

Communication out of COH support on this matter is awful.

In between LFG/Queue failures yesterday, I unlocked Hybrid on 3 of my Incarnates. All on farm teams.

I've not even SEEN Tyrant yet. Rather frustrating.

It seems everyone just farms the Mag and once they have unlocked Hybrid they go run BAF or SLAMs to get components.

Surely the devs could have seen this coming?
  14. ....and its borked again.
  15. They are all working again!
  16. Can't seem to start any of them right now...just me or is this server-wide?
  17. I've not been on Beta but I understand that the Support powers are the only ones that affect pets as well as the MM directly. Can anyone confirm this for me?
  18. Scrappers used to stand out in both damage dealing and survivability. That's what happened.

When an IO'd + Incarnate support class AT like a Controller can accomplish the same tricks as a scrapper, there wasn't much left to "showboat" about for the Scrapper community.
  19. Ah herding...don't have much use for that but I get it now.

Well that's just it. Staff/Elec is a very self-sufficient powerset and I can't see harvesting enough slots to make any of the PPP's worth taking. Energy Mastery perhaps since you get some good use out of Superior Conditioning with just its native slot. But even then, with the first Form from Staff you don't really have any END issues and you've still got Power Sink to pick up any slack there.

Darkest Night is what...-20% Damage and -10% To-Hit for a Brute (base)? While a helpful debuff, I can't see that its that worth it to drop a couple of attacks to get that. Perhaps if you only solo AV's...maybe. But after you figure in AV native resists, even fully enhanced, DN is going to be a trivial debuff from a Brute.

And for absolutely everything else in the PVE game....Brute Smash > Brute debuff.

Personally, if I was going into the PPP's for additional powers, it would be for more AOE attacks. Pyre Mastery/Rain of Fire and Fireball for example. But again, my slots and power choices are better served from my own primary/secondary. The set is just THAT good. I'd take Power Sink before dipping into the PPP's....its at least good for emergencies. Mind the crash though.
  21. Agility all the way. I actually was stupid/persistent (your choice!) enough to unlock 4 different Alpha's to T3. Agility gave me the best bang for my buck out of all of them.
  22. You can skip either Mercurial or Precise, but I took Precise on my Staff/ElecA. The only other primary you could skip is Taunt, but that's a personal preference thing. You really want everything else.

On Electric Armor, Power Surge is entirely skippable on an IO build. But you will want everything else.

Honestly, you don't need an epic pool at all. Just not necessary. Your forms and secondary cover your END needs and by focusing slots on your primary/secondary, you'll easily be able to soft cap M/S/L and even E/N, while still maintaining huge resists. Don't forget you've got a damage aura in there also.

It hasn't "doomed" CoX yet so you are clearly wrong. And so what if the game disappears in another year or so? A MMO with a 9+ year run can hardly be classified as a failure by anyone in the industry.

As someone who quit playing PVP after i13 all I have to say to this is thank you for being honest and transparent about what a great many of us have been saying for years now. PVP isn't a BUSINESS priority for the dev team. I may not like that, but if its true, I can live with it.

I'll go much further than this. For me, while i13 changes borked PVP beyond the pale, IO's didn't help the situation either. The most fun I ever had was in Siren's Call fighting level-locked, SO-only equipped players without travel suppression and without heal decay. IO's have created a huge abyss between tweaked toons and toons that just play well. Remove IO's and Incarnate powers from PVP, as well as revert all the i13 changes, and you'll get me back into the zones and arenas. Otherwise, worthless content as far as I'm concerned anymore.
  25. If the Flight pool is a must-have for you, your current build is about the best you can get for +DEF. If you can live without the Flight pool, you could instead take the Concealment pool. Stealth itself offers some +DEF even when attacking, and Stealth, Grant Invis and Invis all make good set mules for LOTG +Recharge. Put your LOTG's in those three, drop Melt Armor (which is pretty lame IMO) and then take your 5 slots you've used on Hover+Fly+Afterburner and drop those into Weave or Maneuvers. Then you can six-slot one of those two with a Red Fortune set. That will get you a bit more +DEF overall I think.

But I know some people love Fly so....have at it if that's your bag.
