1. I have been trying to cook up a scheme for this...now I have ideas...

Muahahaha

/e rubhands
2. you start writing all the ubb code and pages of red squigly lines (word is a spell check freak) and certain spellings will escape you too
3. A rather important bump....keeping people in the know
4. Useful keybinds depend on the player. The key issue with this guide is setting up the Gkeys with the list of keystrokes noted (or any other odd 2 string keystroke) as that will be the constant keystroke for your game profile. You can use the M1 for your everyday uses, i.e. chat channel commands, toggling through enemies, or even some text binds.

MM really are the ones to benefit mostly from the G15. Otherwise, you can use them to set powers on or off and make room in your tray for more active buttons (for example, if you are a tank, use the G15 keys to turn on your toggles and leave your tray open for the melee powers)

Also remember that you need to create a different text file per toon. If you want the same setup for every toon, you need to load the text file with every toon. Also be sure that the profile is activated when you turn on the game, otherwise you might get some weird results.

10. PET COMMANDS

This applies more to the Mastermind AT than other AT with pets (i.e. controllers). This commands are useful in Recluse’s Victory to control the Heavies/Spiders.

The special thing about these commands is that you can use the first 3 letters of the power or pet name for the command. This truncated system allows for an easier setup than having to spell out “Zombie Horde”, for example, every time you make a command.

Be careful though, when a pet name is truncated, the order given will go to all pets that have the letters specified in their name.

Petcom

petcom <COMMAND>: Sends command to your selected pet
petcom_all <COMMAND>: Sends command to all pets
petcom_name <COMMAND>: Sends command to named pets
petcom_pow <COMMAND>: Sends command to pets summoned by named power

Petsay

petsay <MESSAGE>: Selected pet says the message.
petsay_all <MESSAGE>: All pets say the message
petsay_name <MESSAGE>: Named pet says message
petsay_pow <MESSAGE>: Pets summoned by named power says the message

Pet Emotes

Using the emote command after any of the petsay commands will make your pets execute the emote. To do this, you must use the <> symbols containing the emote command.
For example: petsay_all <emote laptop> will make all your pets type on a laptop.

If you do not use the <> after the petsay command then your pets will actually say “emote laptop” instead of doing the animation.

Naming your pet

petrename <NAME> : rename your selected pet
petrename_name <NAME>: Rename the named pet

Targeting your pet

pet_select <INTERGER>: Selects a pet from the list, starting with 0 at the top

def or defensive: retaliate to damage taken by the Player or other pets of the same player (also activates the bodyguard feature when also set to follow)
pass or passive: will not attack unless specifically told to

Actions

att or attack: Attacks the player's currently selected target, regardless of Stance. Will default back to Follow after target has been defeated.
fol or follow: Follow the player. Stance still applies.
Stay: Will move short distances if in Aggressive and Defensive mode.
Goto: Gives the player a targeting reticule. Pets continuously attempt to goto the location the player selects. Similar rules to Stay.

14. Welcome one and all to this intricate guide to commands. This should help anyone trying to create anything from a simple bind or macro to making full use of your G15 keyboard and my G15 Master Guide .

Commands take on several forms, and with introduction of City of Villains, specifically Masterminds, macros and binds, for many, have become a second language for the near necessity of micro managing pets. This guide simply breaks down commands by category followed by an alphabetical list of all commands.

Lets begin…

Here is a list of the sections that will follow:

COMMUNICATION COMMANDS

CHANNEL COMMUNICATIONS COMMANDS

SUPERGROUP COMMANDS

PET COMMANDS

GAMEPLAY COMMANDS

MISCELLANEOUS COMMANDS

ALPHABETICAL LISTING OF COMMANDS

BONUS:LIST OF EMOTES
15. IMPORTANT: The use of this guide infers that the reader has at least intermediate knowledge of binding scripts and functionality. If you are a novice or if this keyboard is new for you, try simple bind/macro scripting first in game to get a feel of the process, then try sample keystroke mapping to a few G keys before diving into this.

Welcome to the latest G15 Guide for all you cool gamers with this great keyboard. First and foremost, for all of you that do not already know, the G15 is all about binds. In fact you have 18 Programmable keys which can hold up to 54 possible macros. That is a lot binds to work with. However, unlike a regular in game bind such as “/bind numpad0” you can’t simply use “/bind g1”. Why? Because the game does not recognize the G keys as keyboard buttons. Therefore, you have to take a creative approach to the macros.

To properly bind the G keys is a 2 step process (easier said than done).

Step 1: Create an unlikely bind. A keystroke pattern that you wouldn’t normally use, for example: lctrl+F1. Then assign a command to that keystroke, example “powexec_toggleon Fly” so the resulting bind script is:

/bind lctrl+f1 “powexec_toggleon Fly”

Step 2: Create the macro on the g key of choice (i.e. g1). The macro would simply be lctrl+f1.

In lay terms, that’s it. Want to know more? Then read on…for the small fee of $19.95 you too can have the knowledge…

<-<

>->

^-^

Ha ha …just kidding.

You see, the G15 uses the g keys to execute a string of keystrokes at once to execute a command. That is why the game has a preset amount of toggles preprogrammed into it.

Lets get familiar with that. If you open the G15 profiler and click on the City of Heroes game, you will note that you have several options you can apply to the g keys. The command that may be assigned to a key may say “Navigation” but what the system understands is the command “nav” to open the navigation window. You may see Sprint or Rest (a universal power). The command that the system reads when you hit that g key set to those actions is “powexec_toggleon Sprint” These are all just preset binds.

With that knowledge you can see that all you would be doing, in this case, are custom binds. Here is the kicker. Your binds should not be complicated or you may risk the game not understanding what you are doing. So I am going to provide you with a very simple list of preset “uncommon” bind keys. Remember you have 54 possible combinations, so after the first 18, you can replace the last key with a new one to continue on your binding glory. (Remember you have to use the M1, M2, or M3 keys to toggle between g keys 1-18, 19-36, and 37-54 respectively)

TEXT FILE SETUP

Cut and Paste the following into a text file (notepad is the easiest – Click Start>Run> type notepad >hit enter)

[ QUOTE ]

rctrl+q
rctrl+w
rctrl+e
rctrl+r
rctrl+t
rctrl+y
rctrl+u
rctrl+i
rctrl+o
rctrl+p
rctrl+[
rctrl+]
rctrl+\
rctrl+a
rctrl+s
rctrl+d
rctrl+f
rctrl+g

[/ QUOTE ]

IMPORTANT NOTE: The game mechanics only read a macro keybind of 2 strings. In other words, if you try to make a macro/bind using rctrl+lshift+numpad0, the game will only recognize the bind as lshift+numpad0. Therefore, if you wish to customize the above set of key strings, remember to only use 2 keys.

The above list is for the first 18 macros (M1). If you require further binds, just change the last character accordingly and then add the next 18 to your profile under M2.

On the text file, you then add the appropriate bind string after the key string. If you need a list of commands and emotes, I created a Commands and Emotes Guide (I10) just for you….and everyone else who happens to look for it . If you need additional key strings above the first 18, you need only continue the list in the specific text file.

For Example:

Using this process you create 4 text files (2 heroes and 2 villains). You noticed that on one of the villains, since it is a mastermind (lets call it MM1.txt), you are using almost 30 binds. You set up your initial 18 strings. On the same text file, MM1.txt, you add the additional 18 strings for M2 (which would be strings 19-36). You would not create a second text file for the second set of binds (M2) for the same toon.

IMPORTANT: IF there are any strings left unused, meaning not tied to any action, you MUST type 2 quotes ( “” ) after each string so that you don’t accidentally set a power off or toggle a window and not know what happened (the ctrl+ string, depending on the key, do have preset actions.) Using the ( “”) disables them so nothing quirky happens.

SAVING INSTRUCTIONS

If you want to make several of these files for your various toons, the quickest way to do this is by following these steps:

1) Create a folder in a directory that is easy for you to remember. (Simple Example would be c:\g15binds )
2) Create a default text file using a cut and paste of the above commands.
3) Save your default text file (a clean cut and paste of the above commands without any bind scripts) to this folder. Name it “Hero” (w/out quotes)
4) Close the text file.
5) Navigate to this folder in Windows Explorer and select/click on the txt file (but do not open it)
6) Use ctrl+c to copy and then hit ctrl+v to paste. Repeat the paste command as many times as desired for your various toons.
7) Right click any txt file to rename it. Repeat as necessary.
8) Open the renamed txt file and set up your bind scripts.
9) Save the updated file.

PROGRAMMING THE KEYBOARD

By setting up the profile on the G15 for CoX you will have a universal system that will work with all your toons. Using the same key strings as noted above will set up the profile permenantly. Now whenever you load the game, the G15 loads this preset profile. Each g key has to be programmed individually. The first string is bound to G1 and working its way down.

How do you know if you have a profile? First clear indication is when you start the game. If you look at your keyboard when the game loads, you should see your LCD screen flash and the following appear:

[ QUOTE ]

Profile Activated

City of Heroes

[/ QUOTE ]

Or, you can open the G Keyboard icon in the task bar list (beside your clock). If it is part of your profiles, skip this next sub-step. If it is not part of your drop-down menu then do the following:

1) Under File, Scan for new games.
2) Once that is done, and you “ok” the list that appears, check the drop down menu again.

Once the City of Heroes game is detected, using the drop-down menu, select City of Heroes and begin to assign the macros to each G Key. It is a bit tedious since you have to click on each key and select ‘Assign Macro > create custom ‘. It is important that you DO NOT select “Record Macro” since that is something totally different and will complicate matters. After you have set, at least, the first 18 keys you are all set to test. The profiler auto saves your G key changes as you input them. No need to go crazy finding a save button.

TESTING YOUR BINDS

Here is where all this work comes together. The first run through it may take you longer than you expect as you tweak out the keyboards with your binds.
Once logged on, use the following bind (you may want to make a macro for it as you may need to redo this part a few times)

Creating the macro:

/macro G15 “bindloadfile c:\g15binds\hero1.txt”

Obviously you type in the appropriate directory and title of the text file, but you get the idea.

If you do not wish to create the macro, use the same string above just remove the ‘macro’ part and start it as ‘/bindloadfile’ (w/out the quotes).

Lastly, test your g keys. If, for example, your first bind was:

Rctrl+q “powexec_name Super Speed”

Then your SS power should activate.

If your G2 bind is:

Rctrl+w “emote bow$$local, Hello $target, I am $name. A Level $level $origin $archetype ready for battle”

Then when you hit the G2 key, you should see your toon bow and the local chat bubble appear saying that sentence.

At this point you should be all ready to go and start becoming more creative with your binds.

For a Master Mind this is a remarkable tool in commanding your minions. But I left that for an entire sub-guide using this system (coming soon ™)

Bind Logistics: The game engine reads binds from right to left. So if you create a long bind string to do multiple tasks or for setting up your insp keys, the game will read the last string (the string after the $$) first, then work it’s way left. This is especially true for the inspirations. If you list them in order of power, i.e. weakest to strongest / left to right, the game will look for the last inspiration in your list (the one furthest on the right) then go left until it finds one and executes it. Thus, you’d have to list it strongest to weakest.

Last but not least, no G15 Keyboard would be complete without Duck L'Orange's awesome CoH LCD Applet

Feel free to ask questions or pm me if you need help.
16. Well it appears that bug will be fixed in the next patch (they will make it a deletable power)

Is it the crafted general IO or from a set? if so, which set?
19. I have seen sporadic posts about some of these issues but nothing really listed out as problems encountered when I10 went live. As I logged on, I had the distinct pleasure to be in Talos just as the invasion commenced. OH boy, I am so glad I hooked up my new rig cause my old one would have laughed at me. Here are the problems I noted, and verified by several other players:

1) During the Invasion, zone stability went to the crapper. A Lagfest that I haven’t seen since the first double xp weekend.
2) Rikti teleporter sounds were misplaced. You’d here them behind you but show up 20 yards away in the opposite direction.
3) Some kind of energy field that the rikti produces adds to more instability for those trapped inside it.
4) Powers don’t recharge and execute properly. The icon shows as recharged but then the power itself has dot yet reset.
5) Rikit rubberbanding

I do have to give props to the revamping of the arts and weapons (took several screenies) extremely well done.

I read that the lag issue is being worked on but the powers issue is server wide not just in RWZ. I thought it was a bug with essence of Curie six slotted with other sets that enhance your global recharge time. Perhaps the algorythims speed up the icon recharge but fail to raise the recharge of the power system side. (maybe a combination of the I10 bugs and the IO sets?)

Anything else you encounter, feel free to put them here …lets keep the bugs focused!
20. I pondered as I stared into the eyes of a Hero in his calcified cage, compliments of me, about his and his team’s brash decision to come here and expect to be victorious. Don’t they realize, this is not their home? We don’t play by their rules. Nonetheless, the state of mind, of man, is truly a conundrum of delicate and delectable discovery. Take these heroes for instance. With a flick of my wrist, I begin to crush every bone in their body with symphonic precision, but they are resolute in getting through me.

“State your purpose here, dear” I gently ask the girl. Oddly enough, she appears to be their leader.

“As if you don’t already know!” and with a smirk she breaks free and proceeds to Thunder Kick me. As I side step from the strike, I glare at her and smile, “Touché!” I retort. As I quickly place her in a petrified prison, “You forget that your rules don’t abide here. I may give you some time, and me more practice, but it is a moot gesture. Well you currently are of no use, so next in line.”

As I approach the next stoned hero I am disheartened. My apparent surge of rage that encased the heroine had also strengthened the cages, collapsing the heroes and porting them back to whence they came. But to my utter delight, something catches my eye. As I picked it up, I couldn’t help but smile, “This bodes to be a very interesting evening indeed.”

Back at the Hospital, the heroes compose themselves. As they meet up in the lobby, one utters “Oh no! Guys…I think that Praetorian’s stone cages knocked my homing beacon off me.”

Princess Grace, troubled, speaks, “We will not pass through that area and continue our mission with that meddlesome deviant in the way. He seems to have an unnatural control over the Earth. And if he found the beacon, we are in for some serious trouble.”

“You are right and I can’t help to think he looks like someone I know.” The telepath, Lady Megrim, said, “No pun intended.”
Princess Grace continued, “We need to seek the assistance of MAGI. I will go, the rest of you head to the base and look at our database. Try to find that Praetorian’s counterpart. He may be in danger.”

Journal Entry Month 11, Day 13

My favor in the eyes of Arachnos is growing. It has become apparent that my mutinous successor has decided to expand her reach into the Rogue Isles. The Carnival of Shadows has really overstepped their boundaries. They not only underestimated Lord Recluse’s hold on the Isles, but never intended on having to deal with me. It was truly a delight to see their dumbfounded faces when they saw their former leader, thought dead, to have established in a new Circus in the Isles and even less to return with such ferocity. It seems my carrion carnies don’t like them much either. Interesting enough, my “interrogation” of the Ring Mistress led me to a scientist in Nerva, one Technician Naylor. He apparently is running some experiments with stolen Portal Corp technology. It appears he has created a gate to another dimension. This may be useful as I may finally be able to be rid of my arch enemy while simultaneously once again take over The Carnival of Shadows and return my circus to its former glory. I have “persuaded” Naylor to let me go through the door in hopes of finding these so-called Praetorians. First on the list, destroy my arch enemy before he meddles in my attempts to return to Paragon City. Mark my words, Salsero, Your days are numbered!

As Princess Grace headed to MAGI, the other Altair Guardians went to their base and began the painstaking search for the unknown hero. Lady Megrim sets off to meditate on that sinking feeling that she knows the hero they are looking for. As they entered the base, Lissandra is there to greet them. “Welcome fellow Guardians. Your last mission against the Malta really paid off! We were able to get the necessary tech from them to boost our base Super Computer. I made some remodeling to accommodate that, but try it out. It now has the capabilities to research heroes by their archetype and recent visits to Paragon City!”

“Excellent! Just in time too.” Double Take said.

“Why?” asked Lissandra, “What’s going on?”

StarOmega begins, “As you know we have in the search for Tyrant in the alternate dimension. Well, we ran into an unexpected Praetorian. Caught us off guard and nearly wiped us.”

Lady Weapon continued, “He has Earth powers unlike anything I’ve seen before.”

“Princess was able to get a few hits in, but she was quickly held again.” Megablast said.

“When we returned, she sent us back here to try to find his Praetorian counterpart. He unfortunately knocked off my beacon in the exchange,” said Arctic Snowstorm, “But his magic was much more powerful than any Praetorian of his level. If he gets to Paragon City, he can cause more havoc than we can possibly fathom.”

With that, Lady Megrim emerges from her meditation room weak and faltering. “Yes, he will make Faultline look like a golf course. Not even Atta could conceive such destruction.” She nearly collapses when Megablast catches her, “I sense him…”

Double Take elates momentarily, “You found him. That is great news. Where is this hero?”

“Not the hero, The Praetorian: Reggaeton. He has found the gate and is sending some of his goons through it. He…” Lady Megrim, exhausted, collapses. Megablast carries her to her room to let her rest.

Lissandra, stunned motionless by this unexpected influx of aberrant activity, looks at the team. “I will contact Princess Grace to bring her up to speed. Arctic, use your symbiosis with nature to get a fix on these precarious pests. The rest of you, find that hero...”

This was not the turn out I expected. I came prepared to battle my way through this gate only to find…nothing. Any empty room in an abandoned warehouse. From the location of the gate, I am assuming that they were trying to sneak up to Tyrants domain. But apparently they took a most unexpected turn. For the best to me, worse for them.
Nonetheless, there could quit possibly be an ambush waiting on the other side. I do not take unnecessary risks. I may have to get some of my more deviant denizens to “volunteer” their services and clear out anyone and anything on the other side of that gate.

“Ahh! Right on cue.” I greeted the Lieutenants as they approached. “I am sure you three brought your minions?”

“Aye my lord.” They said almost in unison.

“All we need now is my second in command, Acid Rain. And speak of the devil.”

Acid Rain flies down with all the grace of a winter snowflake, “My Lord. I came as you requested. I see we have some chaos to ensue.”

“Chaos?! My dear Acid Rain,” I tell her as I put my arm over her shoulder and direct her to the gate. “Chaos is a given. This is destiny!”

Back at MAGI:
“Well Princess Grace, I will have to consult with the Elders about this, but it seems to me he is a master of a near extinct magical tradition: Tiergai” Azuria explained.

“Tiergai? What is that?” asked Princess Grace.

“It is difficult to explain but consider it Earth magic.”

“I have never seen Earth magic of that caliber before”

“Hence why I said it is difficult to explain, here have a seat and I will explain while I prepare the request for help to The Elders.”

Princess Grace sits down and eagerly listens to the explanation. She really cannot perceive what she is about to hear nor what they have stumbled upon.

“Tiergai magic is the most powerful and most dangerous of all Terran practices. Only a small group of these masters remain on this plane. One of our Elders is the head of that guild here…”

“Wait a moment. On this plane? What do you mean?”

“Practitioners of Tiergai have been all but destroyed. Those too powerful to have been dealt with here, were banished.”

Princess Grace stands up alarmed, “Banished where?”

“One can only guess, but I sense that they found their way to the Praetorian dimension.”

“They? Now this getting disturbing. How many constitutes ‘they’?”

“That is irrelevant. My only concern is that one in particular would find his way back. And he is the one I need to see the Elders about.”

“And who would that be?” With that, Princess Grace’s communicator goes off. “Hello? WHAT?! Find out what you can and contact me as soon as possible on the bearings.” She closes her communicator. “Azuria? Put that request on a rush order.”

“Why is that?”

“That Praetorian has found the gate!”
21. Nice...How about creating a forum thread just for the scoop instead of just the announcement section? Otherwise, it is just a great piece work. GJ
22. So I take it the 3D guru's have left the scene. Any new artists out there have any suggestions for free or inexpensive programs for a starting artist?
23. Voted in...but it's just high hopes. No convention of the calibur mentioned in the polls ever gets near my home town (South Florida)....the closest maybe has been Orlando, but I always find out months later. If they spread the love to other than 3 states, it would be a greater turnout.
24. The Day The Walls Came Down

I will start this new thread of rp and function as both a character and the regulator (throwing random events to change the scenario or bring different life to it). You can input what you like to make the story richer, however we cannot know all about your hero (or villain) at first. This way we must determine who has what agenda. Obviously your tendency to good or evil must be somewhat visible, but keep it as if playing on either side of CoX. Let us begin.

The clouds hung low over Steel Canyon when a wave of heroes flew toward Boomtown.

“What is happening?” asked a citizen to Positron.

“I am not sure, I haven’t heard anything yet. But whatever it is, it doesn’t look good.”

Then the first arrived at the scene.

“Hey guys up here,” I yelled. “You are not going to believe this!”

As some of the next wave flew up to join me they were stunned silent.

On this one panel facing Boomtown, the ever present glow of safety was gone.
