  1. when one is asked to Hamitank for the very first time, crashing is something of a nightmare

    alls well that ends well anyway.
  2. I'll return to raid Hami with he goodness that is the Tanker after trying out how Peacebringer fares in this event.

    Also, Weekly now instead of Bi-weekly. Awesome..
  3. I'd say that GM situation gives us credit. There was a situation, and we dealt with it...
  4. Ill be 10-8 for that one.
    Probably with Cuffz, but Badge is getting close too.. Which means Ill be able to help out in the holding phase.. we will have to see.

    New Age Tankers

    [ QUOTE ]

    Somehow tanking has changed thru out the times. Many tankers I meet nowadays don't even carry TAUNT? can U believe that?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Been playing since june '04, made my tanker sometime in the fall that year. I didnt get taunt until I respecced it in at level 50.
    So the comment of "through the ages" and "nowadays" isn't really valid.
  6. I think nude toons are yawn-tastic.
    Toons with only the 'necessities' belongs to one of those 'Talos Island Beach events'..

    and it looks like they made a recent change to jackets which creats a 'bare midriff' look on females, which I dont approve of as well.. (the side-buttoned old classic jacket now stops short of the belly button, and I cant recall it doing that before..)

    Im all for the sexy clothes, but dont change the old ones for the more modest heroines and heros, thank you.

    Energy Melee

    It was not my intention of starting yet another tank/taunt debate..
    I am proof that is certainly possible to level to 50 on a tank with nothing but gauntlet and tauntaura.
    But once you get to 50 you look towards further challenging deeds to do. Tanking for teams against high level AVs and GMs are one of those things.
    And when faced off against a AV taunt is the only thing I can do to guarantee that level 52 Infernal doesnt spin around and oneshots the blaster.

    Anecdote time: i remember once being called to help out against the Paladin in Kings Row when i was on my scrapper.

    there was 2 tanks there, both Stoners in Granite. Still it was all I could do to get in a couple of hits before it turned around and whacked me silly, taking of half my health before I had to retreat. I looked around and saw the rest of the squishes keeping their distance as well. If a Invuln scrapper couldnt survive in the proximity of that GM, what chance would any of the other have part from the tanks.

    In the end I had to alt to my main, my 50 tank, just so I could taunt Paladin and keep the team safe to attack, since the stoners obviously had picked their set (stone) to keep themselves safe, not the team.

    Above story is also one of the reasons I put very little faith in letting a Stone tank tank for me.... but thats in another time and place, and besides, the wench is dead.. as they say.

    Energy Melee

    [ QUOTE ]
    yea ill go with that, my list would be : Barrage, Bone smasher, Whirling Hands, Build Up, Total Focus, Energy Transfer. Ive gone for barrage instead of energy punch becasue although its weaker, the recharge time is better and its less end heavy, and i always find there just that last bit of health left on the baddies bar, that i dont want to waste a powerfull attack or the associated endurance on.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Also, you can't opt to not take Barrage but you can skip energy punch if you're low on powers.

    About Taunt. If you plan on teaming a lot and act as a meatshield, you should pick up this pretty early. If you plan on going solo, you can skip taunt.
    If you plan on being balanced, you can hold of taunt to about level 30, (because at 32 you want your tier 9 primary and at 35 and 38 you must pick up Energy transfer and Total focus, then in the 40s you want to be able to pick up any ancillary powers.)
    This is because in the later 30s and 40s you'll find yourself getting requests to tank against AVs and Giant Monsters and so on. Against these, Taunt is very helpful in keeping the team alive.

    FG's Run To 50!?

    Is it time to resurrect the tank / taunt thread?

    Has it ever died?

    Stereotyping?

    <qr>
    Oh dear God... here we go again....
  12. to put it blunt, I think youre underestimating the amount of damage you will recieve if you think stocking up on greens will be enough, vahz or not vahz.
  13. that is..... one way of putting it...

    Then again.. i actually played until my late 20's before i got temporary invulnerability, only having RPD, unyielding stance and invincibility and the other passives as defense..
    and i did ok, so I guess your idea can work. But I'd like to add: I mostly soled.. and on heroic at that. In a team of 8, and on invincible, its another ballgame.

    (im excused, because back in those days you couldnt use temp inv and unyielding at the same time... )
  14. in answer to question about Shields:
    because the permanent resists from resist physical damage stack with the toggles and you want to get that as high as fast as you can.

    about dull pain:
    Unstoppable doesnt play into it. dull pain is both your boost maximum hp as well as your self heal. Its there so early because you only get good defenses once you get yourself decenty slotted and with single origins. Its early on that you need it, once youre up in the high levels you rarely activate it..
  15. Unless Real Life interferes (it IS on a Friday after all) you got another tanker to count on.
    see sig.
  16. Starting looking a bit better now.
    I see you still have quite the love for wanting to have loads of endredux in your toggles. I believe this is because you have yet to discover how effective your endurance recovery will be once you have Stamina.

    Also, in teams it will be your teammates who will do most of the attacking while you as you say while only do it for the gauntlet, meaning you will use even less endurance than when soloing.
    Only thing i cant comment on is the endredux in tough, as I have chosen not to pick that power pool myself. Although Ive heard its something of a endhog..
    FOr the remainder of the toggles, like Temp inv, Unyield and Invincibility slotting with more than one once you have stamina will be somewhat of a overkill.

    I can keep those three running having very little endurance problem and still attack a lot. Only time I start running out is when facing enemies who uses a lot of endurance sapping attacks, and that I can counter with turning TI off to save endurance since they dont do S/L damage. (to my knowledge)

    QFT

    There is more to do with that build I think. I only hope someone with some experience with SS can give him a hand.. (nudge nudge, wink wink)

    edit: ooh, my 200th post.. im such a spammer
  18. I can only comment on the Inv/* part because I have no real experience with SS, However..

    01) --> Temp Invulnerability==> DmgRes(1) EndRdx(3) DmgRes(7) DmgRes(13) EndRdx(37) EndRdx(40)

    once you get stamina you will only need 1 endredux in this

    02) --> Dull Pain==> Heal(2) Rechg(5) Heal(7) Heal(11) Rechg(11) EndRdx(23)

    3 heal/3 recharge in this

    08) --> Unyielding==> DmgRes(8) EndRdx(9) DmgRes(9) DmgRes(13) EndRdx(39) EndRdx(40)
    18) --> Invincibility==> DefBuf(18) EndRdx(19) DefBuf(19) DefBuf(23) EndRdx(39) EndRdx(40)

    again, 1 endredux in these are fine. Also I'd suggest slotting with taunt in invincibility. But thats only my personal opinion, and others might disagree.

    32) --> Unstoppable==> DmgRes(32) Rechg(33) DmgRes(33) DmgRes(34) Rechg(34) Rechg(36)

    Since the resists from this stack with unyielding, resist physical damage and passives, you will have over 100% resist on ALL except psi with a single dmg resist, to slot with 3 is a waste of 2 slots.
  19. ..You start consider any teammate who spots and takes out a void/quantum to help you as 'killstealers' because you want to defeat them yourself... :P
  20. Anchors only useful for the first couple of seconds anyway. After about arresting half of the enemies theyre to spread out anyway (unless you have a really good tank) for the debuff to affect anything else than the anchor and 'maybe' a minion or two on the outskirts who drop from a single strike from the scrapper anyway..

    As long as the anchor lives that long you have nothing to complain about which is why I have at some time corrected a defender with ' the anchor should go down last-est' i.e among the last but not completly LAST.
  21. My advice on Ice/* corrupter, from playing a level 30 ice/cold is that its heavy on the endurance, even with 3 slotted stamina you need at least one endredux in each power even if you dont run a single toggle.
    Secondly, its slow, and since you probably want 2 acc, 3 dam and that endredux in each attack so you cant slot for attack recharge, you're gonna need Hasten.
