Protean and Reichsman would be nice!
[/ QUOTE ]
Isn't Protean dead?
Looks that way in issue 9 of the CoH comic book (Top Cow run) anyway.
[/ QUOTE ]
Nah, he just built up a little XP debt.
[/ QUOTE ]
And since he's not logged in since patrol xp started...
[/ QUOTE ]
Wonder where he logged out too . . . . .

And he got rezzed by a Mortificator xD -
Ice/Fire is a quick aoe monster.
Combustion & FSC when complemented by icicles & Chilling Embrace(proc perhaps?) means that you can hold both aggro & kill large spawns.
Energy Absorption refilling your blue bar is just beautiful, making you rush to the next spawn to use it & carry on killing.
For single target damage, it can be a little lack luster until Incinerate & Greater Fire Sword, but Vet powers can help there.
All in all i found Ice/Fire a very fun ride to 50. But credit for choosing the combo must go to Spad(our side) for making me want to play ice/fire & Aett Thorn(US side) for the way he described the varied subtleties of ice tanking.
blab ended

I have a SS/Elec brute at lvl 28 atm & friend has 1 who just hit 38.
Stamina rocks to keep you going without losing so much fury. Instead of using Rest, just detoggle sheilds (1, 2 or 3 as needed) as you run further thru the map, then toggleup again as you spot the next mob. (Aid Self helps with the green bar but a little off topic)
At lvl 35 Powersink will fill your end bar up again from very low(autohits).3 rchg & 3 endmod will have it available about every 32 seconds, although it'll be a bit less with Lightning ReflexesHasten & LR of course is just silly & recommended
From what i have seen , he doesnt worry about end any more, just carries a couple of blues in case he get fully drained. Run, pop a blue, retoggle, jump back in & powersink, back to full end. -
Trying to book Friday as game time again (has worked so far), for more Hamispankalotaness.
The last 2 have been great. You guys running it must have had A LOT of practice
Pre-arranged backup tank sounds good, so an eye can be kept on the Hami-tank's location & can hopefully jump on it b4 the tauntin goes. This would help the backup make sure he/she is out of range of the healing team (for Hami's AoE).
Mmm, would it be easier if the backup was part of the Perimeter Team?
tuppence given

when one is asked to Hamitank for the very first time, crashing is something of a nightmare
alls well that ends well anyway.

When one is asked to be insta backup for the first time (on 2nd ever raid), its, um, a shock
Thanks very much to the healing team who made sure i never droppped below 1/2 health whilst tauntin the jellyman. *applause*
Was very glad to see ya back Cuffz & we transferred aggro easy enough -

The worst bit about herding, I find, is that it buggers up the prospect of perma fulcrum shift.
[/ QUOTE ]
Spot on
Considering that damage done is part of aggro, if the tank has perma fulcrum & even 1 AoE damaging attack he gets the aggro (um, now that gauntlet is working again) -
Trying to keep Friday night free for my 1st one!
Guide is easy enough to understand, but im sure it'll still be chaos at first
Cryoburn reporting, Sir ! -
Hello
I have a grav/storm curently at lvl 32. Propel does great dmg, but the activation is pants. When a boss is running toward me lift is much better. If i've had time to throw GD at him, then after he gets up from the lift, GD has recharged(2 acc,2 hold, 2 rchg). If not a boss he's held after lift & GD.
At a corner, out of sight of mobs, of course, hurricane on & wormhole does indeed pin mobs, but you need crush field to really stop them running past the hurricane effect, then you can sidestep a little either way to reposition them, otherwise a few WILL get away from the hurricane.
Once you have wormhole it opens up all sorts of tactics that you previously didn't have. For example, when in a team with a tank who can handle the aggro, wormhole the next mob on to him(into a wall maybe to minimise the KB). Extremely effective with the AoE's toons have after 26 anyway(Wormhole level). No tank, but out of line of sight use it to pull mobs with disorient then hold bosses or lift 'em.
Corners are the real speciality of Grav/Storm is seems to me, the harder part being open ground, but with hurricane & Gale (yes Gale) you can reposition mobs nicely for freezing rain & snow storm.
At least keep going until Wormhole & then try it out to see what you can do.
One thing you are not(mostly) is an alpha taker. Unless with a few lucks maybe or against lower lvl mobs.
But anyway, a very fun combo that can pull off things which other toons simply cannot do. Works very well with a good Earth troller(wormhole into volcanic gases)
Anyway opinion enough from me, play more !!!
<Edit> Ah, just in case i didnt make it clear, me feelings on 2 of the powers is Propel for solo, Lift for teams. & nice to see agreement on some power usage -
been reading in the us forums & the scaling resists kick in at 60% health (the initial amount being 3.33% per passive, 10% with all 3).
There was a lot of math & my head didnt really do that so well hehe
I did a quick test (on test ^^) with my SR with 2 passives & found that at 25% health i had around 25%ish res. At 12.5% each that would be 37.5% with all 3, not shabby
'twas only a quick test -
I thought the reason to take the passives was that, with all 3, you get up to 60%(ish, iirc) damage resistance as ur health drops.
Sounds good to me :-)
Maybe thats the 15-20% figure you had in your head Raz
I have a Kat/SR at 25 atm & it's definatley noticeable on 1/4 health that the dmg is reduced. (with agile & dodge so far) -
If you create a small character then spines is more forgiving, IMHO. Also, keeping the toon very basic(costume) & not too wide helps as there will be less graphic clipping.
This usually means no shoulders or stuff to get in the way of the spines.
Colour-wise, try to stay away from greens & yellows which may add to the ickyness of the spines. Black, browns & dark reds seem to work ok.
There again im a regen & i usually cant see too much of myself
Good luck to ya Dawg -
I'm up for starting a Rad/Sonic to try this out
If anyone else wants to, shout out & state which server you prefer. Oh, Wilfrid, what lvl are u now ?
-
Thank for the comments. The main reason i went for Mutation was that maybe after 33 when i get my imps slotted i can use them to take aggro away from me in large team missions. I dont solo ALL the time. I encountered problems on large teams as the only troller where i grab too much aggro & faceplant often. Different on teams with another troller or 2 eg Grav or Earth, we dont have aggro problems then. Maybe i can find 2 more slots for the imps for recharge, 1 from hot feet probably

Greets to all fellow trollers & to those of you who are thinking of playing one
I starting my Fire/Rad a week ago & while while trawling the US forums found a build which was exactly the same as mine up to lvl 8. Being somewhat lazy i pondered the rest of the build & decided to copy it as it made lots of sense to me.
So far i'm lvl 18 & have mostly worked solo in Hazard Zones (well after Hot Feet at 8).
Up to 8, its was mostly team play but then i found this:-
Accelerated Metabolism if available, Radiaion Infection, Fire Cages, run into mob & switch on Hot Feet, Char any Lts. Reapply Fire Cages & chars when you need to. I've used this tactic from 8 to 18 with no probs fighting mobs sizes of 8-12 at -1,-2 to my lvl. As long as the mobs are packed together they all get debuffed by RI & caught in Fire Cages.
The reason for fighting mobs lower than you is the amount of inspirations dropped meaning you can have 4 or more up all the timePlus u get more enhancment drops for less xp meaning more influence
Dont worry about the lesser xp, remember you're fighting big mobs so it lvls you fast enough
WHERE TO SOLO
As soon as you hit lvl 8 head to Perez Park, where you can bash Hellions & Skulls 'til Lvl 12.
At 12, Boomtown beckons with nicely ordered rows of council near the gate. This should get you to 15 or 16.
Then, staying in Boomtown, you can start fighting Lost, which go up to lvl 18 or 19. Should be able to get to 21 from this area.
Not that i've got to 21 yet, but as soon as i hit it, i know where i'm going. Yes, thats right, Dark Astoria !!! Banished Pantheons weak to fire, gimme gimeme gimme
As a side note, i did try Faultline but Vahz & CoT made life a misery so back to Boomtown i went (too many bosses spawn in the groups there)
Well, i hope this makes life a little easier for ppl who dont relish the long road to 32 & Fire Imps.
What, the build? Oh go on then
