I checked my arc and it turns out I got bit by this, too. The forbidden word? "CATGIRL". It seems to accept "cat-girl", but I can't figure out how to change the names of custom enemies and enemy groups.
Please, devs, PLEASE fix this stupid overzealous filter! A lot of the words being caught aren't trademarkable, let alone copyrightable! -
If Captain Castillo were to be one of the options,I'm not sure I'd ever call on anyone else. XD

Checked this out on Test. I'm really liking most of it, but it seems the heads are a little small. Did I miss anything that'd let me scale them up a bit?

New York City is actually still New Amsterdam, a sleepy little midsized town surrounded by acres and acres of rolling farmland.
...no, this isn't from anything official, but I think it sounds good.
Personally, I always thought Praetoria was somewhere in California, but New Orleans might also work. Mexico City would be even better if it weren't for the former-US detail. -
...or, more accurately, I just plain forgot that powers don't start recharging til they've finished being cast.
Some explanation: I've got a claws/wp scrapper who's a lot of fun to play, and one of the things I did along the way was decide that she should have perma-hasten. One alpha slot and a lot of A-merits later, voila, perma-hasten. But this wasn't enough! It looked like it wouldn't take all THAT much more to get a gapless attack chain consisting solely of Follow Up -> Slash > Focus. Well, actually... it does take a lot more recharge. It's going to take Spiritual Core Paragon, for sure. Nevertheless, it's still my goal.
Please note: I know this isn't particularly effective. I know that this much effort and expense could produce a much more capable character by dropping some recharge and soft-capping defense. That's not the point; the point is that I think this much recharge is fun, and I'm willing to put in the effort and sacrifice effectiveness in order to have that fun. That said, I would like to at least try to mitigate the damage I'm doing to my survivability in pursuit of this goal, so I'd like to run the new build design by people and see if there's anything I missed.
According to my new! revised! math, once SCP is available and I get my slashy little claw-mitts on it, I'll need 112% global recharge to get the recharge on Follow Up down to 2.9 seconds. (It's at 3.15 with what I've got now, and that quarter-second gap in the chain is so, so annoying.) The build I've worked out has 115%, so should be pretty solidly where I want it. No PVP sets, and I've got everything that's in this build on hand apart from the Aegis set, one Cloud Senses set, some of the non-unique pieces from Numina's, and 4/6 of the Armageddon set.
So... anyone see things I've missed? Ways I could sacrifice less of my survivability in my mad quest to claw as many faces as possible in between planting my own?

Another thing I'll suggest is claws/willpower. Fast low-end-cost attacks, the knockdown in Focus provides great single-target mitigation, you've got Shockwave if you really need some breathing space, and while Willpower isn't outstanding in any one defensive category it's got some defense and some resists and some regen, so if one's debuffed into uselessness you've got two more ways of staying on your feet. My Claws/WP is a very enjoyable character to play.
-
The Deutsche Demokratische Republik, also known as East Germany, was... wait, wrong DDR.
You can find Defense Debuff Resistance by clicking on Powers above your action-button tray, clicking on Combat Attributes, and then expanding Debuff Resistance. For Shield Defense, your DDR is provided by Active Defense, same as your mez resist, and while it doesn't appear to be enhanceable, I'm told that you can get Active Defense recharging fast enough to stack with itself if you need more than one application can provide. -
Thank you both! Thanks to you, I've managed to put together a build that, while still something of an endurance hog, should have all the powers I want, with more of just about everything. I had completely not realized that Numina's and Gaussian's had such nice set bonuses. I know Melt Armor isn't so good for scrappers, but I like the 2.5% end recovery and the 2.5% AoE defense from 4-piece Shield Breaker. The Red Fortunes were actually in for the 2.5% ranged defense on the 6-piece, but I've managed to trim them down some. I didn't slot Phalanx Fighting for defense because Mids says the bonus you get even when there's no friends near you ignores enhancements, and I'd rather not rely on having people near me to be softcapped.
Again, thank you for the help! -
Hi all, been trying to put together a BS/SD build and I'm just not quite satisfied with what I'm coming up with. Could I get some advice and critique, please?
Some notes:
-I don't have Hasten in the build for a few reasons, but I'm a little worried about whether I'll have enough recharge to put out solid damage without it. The reasons are: I've got a fist aura, I've got a widow and a Claws/WP scrapper who are perma-hastened and almost perma-hastened and I don't really want to put in the effort to perma-hasten yet another character so soon, and I'm using Active Defenses as my auto-fire power and don't want to have to remember to hit something every time it's up if there's not a bunch of overlap time. Feel free to offer insight on the Hasten-or-not question, please.
-As it stands, the build is solidly softcapped to ranged and AoE, but melee only makes it there with a stack of Parry. Is this enough?
-The Fire powers are there more to be thematic than effective, I just tried to squeeze what I could out of them.
-I'm a little worried that endurance may be a problem.
-I'd like to squeeze Vengeance in somehow, and maybe put another slot on Assault for endredux, but I can't figure out what to drop or move.
-Budget... eh. I'd rather not try to get together the money for purples, but short of that I've got A-merits and patience.
Any thoughts, critique, and advice would be very welcome!

Deer Santa,
How are you? I have been very good this year. Please can I have Focus and Shockwave instead of Poison Dart and Dart Burst? All the other people with claws make fun of me when I can't knock mean people over.
Love,
Lashclaw

Seriously though, hmm. More wall styles and placeables for base building would be awesome. Pool tables like in the D and some of the bar/casino maps! Also, what Steelclaw said. -
If you're still doing this, I recently started an SG for one of my characters in order to get to play with the base editor more.
@Little Pink Beast
<Catgirl Shelter>
( <Home For Wayward Catgirls> was too long)
( If I'm late, or if you'd rather give to people who can help spread the word better, that's okay too.)

Blasters: Queen, "Another One Bites The Dust"
Not for all scrappers, but definitely for all of mine and for my melee widow: Rosetta Stone, "Adrenaline" -
Wow, glad I checked back in on this!
I've gone ahead and gotten a full account, at least for a month or three, and my little claws/regen stalker is now up to her low twenties. (I know, I know. I promise she's neither a Wolverine ripoff nor a catgirl.)
Impressions: When I saw that CoX had a free trial, I initially just picked it up to play with the character creator for a week or two. At some point I actually tried playing some of the characters I'd made, and was really amazed at the depth of the low-level game. It's very unusual, in my experience, for a game to let you have interesting choices and interesting combinations of powers in the early levels - my energy/energy blaster, for example, while probably a horrible horrible choice for teaming with, is a -ton- of fun for soloing, just because I get the giggles every time enemies try to run up and get bowled over for the third time in a row, by yet another power. The heavily instanced content has its good sides and bad sides - the storylines are quite interesting, but as people have said, it can make it hard to find other players to just hang out with. Obviously I can't really judge the mid-level or high-level game yet, but it seems like it should stay reasonably fun to just play the characters, and there's always levelling an alt if it doesn't. Also - character creator? Still fun to just poke around in even if I'm not intending to make the character.
Hair: I'm a child of the 80s and it shows in my characters. What is this 'overly hairsprayed' concept?
Server: Thanks for the suggestions, but I think I'll stay on Justice for now. Sure, it's only taken me a week or so to build my characters up to where they are, but that's still a week I'd have to spend rebuilding them somewhere else. I tend toward light/casual roleplay - my characters have a backstory and a personality that affects how I react to things when playing them and what missions I pick for them, and mostly stay in character apart from explicitly OOC channels, but I don't tend to get involved in ongoing RP plots or stories.
Thanks again for the help and the warm welcome, this is definitely one of the best MMO communities I've run into.
ETA: It'd be really nice if people on trial accounts could at least reply to tells sent to them - I can totally understand restricting the initiation of tells to cut down on moneysellers, but it bothered me that I couldn't respond to a couple of people who asked me to team just as I was about to log off, so that they might think I was ignoring them or being rude. If not that, then at least an autoresponder or something to let them know they just sent a tell to a trial account player and won't be getting a response back. -
Trial account! I looked there, but I didn't think to search that phrase. Thanks for the quick help!

Hi, I'm trying the game on the free trial, and I'm enjoying it so far, but I do have some questions and was wondering if anyone could answer them.
--I got a stalker up to level 14 and she stopped gaining XP. I checked through options and made sure I didn't have XP gains turned off. Is this a cap on the free trial, or am I missing something? I couldn't find any info on this on the free trial web page.
--I hardly ever see other players running around. Is Justice (I picked a server at random) a low population server, or are the low level zones not very populated, or is it something else?
--When I'm travelling, especially when I'm travelling fast, I get frequent loading lag - screen stops, hard drive light comes on, a second or three passes, then I can move again. Is this something that many people have trouble with, or is it just my computer?
On a side note, I've been very impressed with the general level of friendliness and helpfulness I've seen while browsing these forums. Thanks in advance if anyone can help with any of these questions!
