I think if a match goes to sudden death it should be an automatic rematch of unlimited time set to one kill unless both players agree on a draw.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    [/ QUOTE ]
I can agree to that. Wow I really hope they just flat out remove this feature.

Is there any way to prove it went to sudden death? For example lets say its tied 3-3. Match times out and goes into sudden death. Team A gets a kill on Team B during sudden death. Rules of the event say sudden death kills should be a rematch or considered a tie. Team A says they won without sudden death 4-3, the results from the arena interface would still say that they won 4-3, but without sudden death it would have been 3-3. As far as I know, there would be no way for team B to prove that it was a tie 3-3 up until sudden death when team A gets the 1 hp h4x kill.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Rules for any of my events are if either team/individual claims it, its a rematch with me watching. (ex rematches for spawn camping claims in the past) While this could spark people to abuse it by always claiming different than the truth just to get a rematch because they are a sore loser...I would rather risk that than declare a winner that didn't fairly win. Personally I think if someone won once fairly, they will do it the second time with me watching as well.

Being that there are generally a bunch of observers for any of these big events, I would hope that people would be honest and not risk being called out for being untruthful. If the observers say no rematch is due, I will generally go with that.

I won't be paying any money, at any time, to support someone's proof that being a [censored] makes other people angry.

    [/ QUOTE ]

While I used to find it humerous how easily he could spark people into verbal pvp with him in zone and on the forums, the fact that he could only proved that people are predictably emotional creatures. No great discovery IMHO.

I read his paper a while back, and while I found it interesting, I would label it an experiement of entrapment, nothing more, nothing less.

Ok deleted it. I didn't intend on stepping on your toes. I took from your post that you were inquiring if it could be done, not that you were planning on actually running it. Again, I appologize. Lets just say when something intrigues me that the doooo-ettt planner in me takes over. :-)

  7. Badge FARMING.
    Influence FARMING.
    Drops FARMING.
    PVP Rep FARMING.
    Heal FARMING.

What is the common denominator? Even a blind [censored] bat can see it. Justify it, put pretty labels on it or whatever else you want to, fact still remains its farming.

Some however in my book are worse than others. There are legal exploits in the game that allow players to obtain things that they didn't actually gain in the way that the game was intended. For example heal farming. Healers are supposed to get their healing badges by actually healing other hero's. Due to a little known "shortcut" people get their badges by heal farming while afk and not even playing the game. Is it wrong? Nope, its your 15 bucks. However you are delirious if you are looking down at the influence / xp farmer for doing the same thing you are, FARMING.
  8. Personally I find it tedious and don't care for it. However I don't have a problem participating in one if I am bored unless it's a Pl farm. My definition of PL is someone sitting at the door not doing their fair share.

I have had to get Pl's a couple of times in my COH history due to needing a certain toon build for one of my pvp teams, quickly. Not that it makes it right, but when I had to have one I only seeked them from friends in the game that I felt close to and never asked strangers, broadcasted or sent tells to people asking them.

I think most people that don't choose to PL/farm feel the same way as me. Do what you want to do, its your 15 bucks, just don't annoy me with that [censored] by sending annoying tells or broadcasts begging for Pl's.

  10. Okies...this thread is interesting.

I am allergic to agriculture, but that is an entirely unnecessary discussion.

Bases are cheap to build now hun, not like the old days. Get you 15 members/fillers and from that prestige bonus alone you can set up a very small but functioning base with most things that you need. It won't take you long to earn enough prestige to fill in the blanks and get some decorations etc going.

    and one more thing.

If you really love Champion....host this.

Have an event where some high level toons can do mayhem missions with low level toons! so they can get Invader accolade! It would take a series of toons levels 10-40 or something, but it would be a GREAT event for redside! Any interest in hosting this, anyone?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Hmmm. Me thinks the main point of that post was to get the invader accolade on his new dom rather than see more redside events, albeit disguised very well.

Kat when are you going to announce the settings as that will greatly determine what ATs are viable for this tourney. As one that will have to accolade and IO a toon knowing the settings ASAP would be greatly appreciated.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I haven't had time to play any of the new arena settings that came out with yesterdays issue, in fact I haven't even looked over the patch notes. If you can tell me what changes came out I can answer quickly, if not then I will try to get on in next day or 2 and check them out.

Also has the PvPec worked out how to handle the "SUDDEN DEATH" final 10 seconds of a tie match? in practice yesterday it is terribad and i cannot see how to turn it off.

"just because you rock one build..."...all due respect Kat you do have much much more pvp experience than I, however how many matches have you fought since I13?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Very few. However I can't discuss why that is because I am supposed to be promoting pvp. :-) Lets just say that just about everyone that I enjoyed pvp'n with is now gone so I have moved up to just trying to provide events that others might enjoy.

    [ QUOTE ]
For as much i respect your position as our pvpec rep and your conribution to pvp as a whole, your stalwart unwavering attitude towards anyother idea but your own leaves much to be desired.

may i suggest you put it to those that will be participating?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I am sorry that you are seeing it as unwavering. My job is to throw events that people want to participate in, however I also have the flexibility to run them in a variety of ways with a variety of rules. While I may be unwavering in regards to this particular event I have no problem running many other events how you suggested. I am always open to suggestions but unless an event is getting a totally negative response from the community I am generally going to stick with the initial rules that I post. Every event is going to have something that someone doesn't like. Do an FFA, someone wants a 2v2, do 3 v 3 and someone wants lvl 4 FFA. That is why I try to run something different all the time so that there is something for everyone.

You are not going to be the only person wanting that rule taken off. Some people only pvp one type of toon, which is the entire reason behind the rule. I want an event with a broader perspective, a bigger challenge.

2 breaks for toon changes is going to make my job harder, plus having to match up globals to the new toon names people switch too and set up the next fights is going to be hectic. I certainly wouldn't make an event that complicated on myself if it wasn't something important to me to run that way, or if I didn't think taking those measures would be worth the efffort.
  20. **On a side note, FYI, this same exact event will be held again in August but will be a 2v2 or 3v3 , haven't decided which yet. Just a headsup for those needing to work on toons or getting teams together**
  21. Sorry. Not going to change it. While i understand where you are coming from I am attempting something different with this event.

Defenders and Controllers are totally different with each build. However blasters, stalkers, scrappers, tanks...etc...etc....are very similar with each build. I want the contest to separate those that rely on one or two particular types of toons to always win to be forced to show more variety in their skill level.

While this only applies to a small percentage of pvprs, I have noticed several that rely specifically on one type of toon to win with. Forcing them to play other builds broadens the chances for others to win. There are many that ALMOST ALWAYS play the same toon for just about every pvp event. Because you can rock one build does not make you an excellent pvp'r IMHO. Because you can rock just about anything you play....that makes you an ELITIST PVP'R. Which is what we are looking for here. :-)

This is not an event that is really geared towards the newbie pvp'r (my other 2 events this month are), those that are hardcore enough to enter are going to have 3 viable toons to do it with. (Though I expect several to claim they don't because they know they suck on anything but their blaster/stalker/stormy etc. ) Perhaps not all purpled out, but hey thats just another way to test the skills as well...making people fight without the uber buildz. :-)

If you really want to build up the pvp community, you need to make the enviroment easier for new people....

    [/ QUOTE ]

No. Making it easier only gives you a false sense of security. Believe it or not the only way to really learn is to get the [censored] farmed out of you over and over again. So many people think that knowing how to pve means they should know how to pvp. EVERYTHING is 100% different. People can explain the mechanics on how to pvp, help you with build advice, even explain evasion skills and attack chains. However all of that won't do diddly squat unless you have the perseverance to get FARMED OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN, and still want to pvp after it.

4shes has a new weekly 2 vs 2 event, the turnout was great! There is hope for pvp in coh.

[/ QUOTE ] Yes and he came up with the idea on his own, organized it and promoted it. Woooot for 4shes!

    [ QUOTE ]
Kat you missed the point! This thread was a way for people to voice what events they would like to see more of - That is all! Something organized so they can always know to be there at the same time each month.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, you missed the point. There is no shortage of events on this server. There are hami and Rikti ship raids. Task force races. MSTF runs. CC's. Badge hunts. PVPEC and PERC events. Just about anything you could think of to do, is being done on a semi-regular basis. Asking people for ideas is redundant because any idea they could or would probably come up with is already being done. Just host an event, its really that simple. It isn't rocket science. Plan it, advertise it, host it. The end.

Instead you come across as an [censored] and then want people to give you some positive ideas and support. Not going to happen. Furthermore stating you just won't run any because a few people on a video game forum were [censored] to you (though I would say somewhat deservingly) means your intentions were not for the sake of the community anyways. The blueboards (people that post on a regular basis) only represent maybe about 5% of the people who play this game anyways.

You say its not about recruitment, its not about self...then pick an event and run it. Talking about it all these weeks and still not running one seems....like...hot air.
