Radio Missions. Lots and lots of Police-Band Radio Radio Missions. For everything else, team with somebody and let them have the star.
One marginal idea might be a Reverse-Lassie, which works better in an anime frame up than in the Western Superhero genre. Basically, give that female toon of yours a shoulder panda or shoulder kittie, or one of the Vet pets that is organic, and roleplay the animal sidekick as the one doing all the talking, usually right after it stares into your face, maybe asks "Are you sure? Well, okay," to you a lot.
Like the guy with the parrot in the 1st Pirates of the Carribean film. Shame we have no parrots in this game. Maybe you could get Null the Gull to be your animal companion. -
Easier fix; read the EULA. It isn't cool that the servers are down, but we all agreed to suffer through such downtime without being compensated for it. They owe us nothing for it.
If you want to complain, fine. I don't like it either; sucks that I can't play while I have the time to do so.
But if you want to be compensated, think about what you're really asking for; the company is losing money by paying for repairs as we speak, and losing money in the form of customers not buying any Paragon Points during the outages. Now you want them to compensate you by giving up items intended to bring them revenue, despite agreeing to a EULA in which you gave them permission to take the servers down whenever they need to without being compensated for it. -
Yes, Unquiet Bride; that was it. Thanks.
I wasn't personally competing in last night's CC, but as a finalist on Friday Night I know the procedures. :-) -
As I recall, it was Dark Mage, Lament of Shadows, and Un... er, something to do with a Bride for a necromancer. The toon had an awesome bio and a great design, and was one of my personal picks to win (just can't remember the name, darnit), though my other personal fave Childhood Nightmares didn't fair as well.
The Devs took group screencaps of all the Quarter-Finalists as well as individual pictures of the winners, so I'm sure the pix will be posted soon. -

If I was Glacia, I'd have committed sistercide by now. Or suicide, if my powers were ineffective against ol' jabberjaw.

Quote:If you're here to take back PvP, I'm behind you 100.001 percent! (I have a proc that gets me a tiny bit above cap)and you didn't say hey IB? Shame on you. Thanks for that update Nova, I know a little bit about AE, but wan't too interested in it for the most part. I heard PvP was dead on Infinity, but I can change that, like I did last time :P
Heya Mes!!!!!
It's true that Incarnate Trials are the content most 50s shoot for, since we can effectively gain new powers by getting Incarnate xp, and those trials have some funky badges associated with them. But of course, we'll be seeing i21 hit TOMORROW, so expect even more changes, since Galaxy City will be going away, First Ward co-op zone will be coming, Veteran Rewards are getting replaced with Paragon Rewards (that you buy w/ Paragon Tokens, new game money called Paragon Points let you by temp powers, costume slots, power set access, etc. And yes, travel power pools change tomorrow, with Tier 3 powers available lvl 4... AND new Tier 5 powers added to the pools. -
Welcome back. Dunno how long you've been gone, but the last two years have seen a LOT of changes. Personally, I think the Inherent Fitness pool is the biggest (positive) change, but being able to turn my heroes into villains and vice versa is pretty awesome too.
Pretty sure I posted an entry in the Infinity Census, but in case you missed it, I'm Kavik.
Howdy. -
Alternate form of Teleport:
- Rabbit Hole: When the destination is chosen, a tunnel forms linking the character's current location to his new location, even if the destination is on a building or in mid-air. 'Holing' teammates causes the user's arm to disappear into the tunnel mouth, emerge at the target, grab a leg, and yank the (looney) toon through. Known bug: Long Range Rabbit Hole tends to land characters in Albuquerque; a left turn must then be made to reach the proper zone. -
Quote:Yeah, I suppose you already know there are FOUR new day jobs in First Ward. I thought we'd seen the end to day jobs when the first six Praetorian zones had no new jobs available. Now we have to have badgers logged out for three months in FW to get the new ones.Wait for the torture if they decide to put dayjobs in the new zones.....
From everything I have read, I21 seems like it is going to offer a ton of badge stuff (through new trials, new GM zone event..really looking forward to that...new zone in general, hopefully more TF's)
I myself have yet to break 1200, so kudos to all you done clubbers! -
Maybe she just really likes plants, and chose a plant motif for her name / schemes. Not her fault if she happened to get superpowers that have nothing to do with plants.

Quote:/This.Shard PvP?
Because you want hide 'n seek added to CoH? Don't we get enough of that with kill-all Oranbegan maps?
I'd like to see the Shadow Shard zones (and TFs) become Co-Op, but if we did have huge maps like these become PvP all the actual fighting would wind up on one floating rock anyway, just so PvPers would be able to find someone to fight. And with the loss of level restrictions in the Shard zones, there would be no balance to prevent L50s with Incarnate powers from hanging out and sniping L35s. -
Quote:Since there is already an arc involving Malta's attempt to prevent China's superhuman population frm interacting with the heroes of Paragon City, some kind of Asian-based follow-up would be nice to see. I'd probably prefer a completely imaginary island, so the Devs could do whatever they want with it, like Madripoor over at Marvel. Now I am not asking them to produce entire new cities (/zones) but couldn't we hop an airlift to the desert somewhere and battle some terrorists or one of Admiral Sutter's submarines could deposit us on a desert isle where we'd battle modern day pirates. Hey in some cases we wouldn't even need new villains.. Isn't Malta supposed to be a GLOBAL organization ,, and both the Council and the 5th Column are out to control the world NOT just Rhode Island. Actually the same is true of Arachnos.. what we need is a few new maps (outdoor and indoor) to give us a different feel and a new story arc or two that sends us off to the four corners of the earth to battle the bad guys.. Hey come to think of it even Nemesis is constantly showing up everywhere including the Shadow Shard ... why can't we go fight his troops in the sewers below Paris instead of below Kings row LOL
I do also like having heroes fight a big org, preferably NOT the 5th Col, in England, France, and Germany. Only seems fair, since this game has been asking the heroes of England, France, and Germany to come to Paragon City instead of protecting their home turfs from local enemies. -
I was there; no hi-rez screen shots though, can't really make out any of the winners well enough to post the pix here. Still, was very cool, and a decent turn-out; I reckon more people enter CCs when they don't need a theme pre-built.

My main, and the only toon I have all 5 Incarnate powers slotted to Tier 4, is a Claws / regen scrapper. He's not the most effective toon in my arsenal, but he's a lot of fun.
I'm no good with the number-crunching. I've tried using MIDS to squeeze maximum utility out of a build, but I can never factor everything properly. Meh.
Some advice I can give. Take the fighting set early on; you'll want those toggles. You might want Leadership as well, but it's pricey if you don't team on a regular basis.
I skipped Hasten, but I don't recommend doing so, as you'll need those Regen powers available as often as possible in big fights. Obviously Moment of Glory will be your best friend, but unless you perma, save it for when you need it.
My personal attack chain really only consists 4 attacks plus Confront, so I skipped a few Claws powers on this build. Against one large foe, this serves me well (coupled with my Destiny void power) but in mobs I admit that I sometimes suffer. And yes, I use Confront a lot. It's not a choice I recommend for most scrappers but I find myself tanking often enough that I needed a way to grab aggro.
For my Alpha, I usually have Spiritual slotted, which wouldn't be necessary had I taken Hasten. But with all 8 Tier 4 Alphas crafted, I can play with what the situation calls for.
Level for level, you're squishier than most scrappers, and claws don't do as much damage as many sets. Try to resist diving into mobs that can overpower you by pulling or avoiding. Like I said, I do great against single foes, even when they con purple to me, but mobs can take me down, especially if there's an end-drain in the bunch.
In the end, it's a lot more about having fun than about min/maxing an AT for the benefit of others. This is a game that, for now at least, you pay money to play. -
Quote:Yes. To do so, have you hero switch to being a villain and do one of the four patron arcs. Then go back to being a hero. Access to the Patron Power Pools will follow you, even if you are a hero when you do the respec.Hi all,
I've played COX for over 4 years, stopped and came back
I have a lvl50 brute on COH who started as a praetorian and swapped side at lvl20.
When I do a respec, I can only choose from the Epics on COH side?
Is there a way to access the MU set for example?

I would think the Hoverboard animations could be the same as the Prestige Spring: Slide power, so they already exist.
-
Hoverboard travel power? At WALK speed? Surely it would be at least Sprint speed, or just a Travel Emote / Aura deal that modifies the graphics of another power. Hovering at the speed of WALK is like teleporting at the speed of HOLD.

Quote:All of my characters would be fully realized heroes, villains, or whatevers in a game that doesn't have the CoH as a backdrop, except perhaps the ones I made specifically as Praetorian counterparts to my existing characters. If you completely ignored the game's plot, would your characters and their actions still make sense in the game's existing setting?
If a piece of story required your character to feel a certain way or perform a certain action that goes against their concept, what would you do about it?
Okay, I do have Fitheal, a leprechaun who came to America to help his old friend Snaptooth and fight the snakes, firbolg, and everyone that Snaptooth told Fitheal was after his gold (pretty much every NPC group in-game, according to Snappy). I would not have created him were it not to be an ally to the Redcaps. And as such, I did take him blueside to do the Croatoa content, even though a lot of it has him fighting redcaps. For Fitheal, it was all about simple greed. Even redcaps can't be fully trusted when there's gold to hoard. I would definitely NOT play him in a fantasy game, or DCUO or Champions Online, or any other venue that doesn't include something similar to the sinister redcaps and their intrusion into modern society. -
My characters fall into two categories; those I created before ever playing CoH, and those I created FOR CoH.
Ironically, the bulk of my characters created prior to ever seeing this game have been adapted in a way that makes the game setting, and in some cases, specific storylines, intergral to their existence.
My main toon, Kavik the Wolf Boy, was an agent of a secret branch of the U.S. military in his original continuity. On Primal Earth, he's part of the Vanguard, and worked closely with Dark Watcher once his 'security clearence level' was high enough. The original version is a werewolf seeking the origins of lycanthropy, but he doesn't believe in magic and tries to disprove or rationalize all known instances of magic. This translated in CoH into his desire to shut down the Tsoo, CoT, and BP, as they are dangerously depleting the natural energies of the Earth / Universe, by his understanding of how magic works. As a werewolf he took special interest in the Council to the abominations they often created in the name of science, an element of the character unique to this setting.
Kavik eventually traveled to the Shadow Shard with Dark Watcher on one of the many frontline initiatives during the Coming Storm, but was lost in that realm for several years. While there the energies of that reality changed him, and when one of Rularuu's aspects was killed in battle with Earth's heroes, Rularuu tried to transform Kavik's new body into a suitable host for a replacement aspect. To avoid this Kavik went back in time to before the Coming Storm and merged with his former self, but this just gave the present-day Rularuu a foothold on Earth, so every time Kavik uses his new cosmic (Incarnate) powers, he loses more of his humanity. This all came from a need to justify a werewolf that could go toe-to-toe with god-level foes, but was also vaguely inspired by a Lovecraftian plot I'd subjected the original character to, years ago.
On the other hand, his Praetorian Earth counterpart wound up living in the Tunnels, and was eventually rounded up for experimentation by Neuron, becoming Kavik the Ghoul Boy. When the Resistance freed him he joined their cause, and adopted a very black and white view of morality. Now that he lives on Primal Earth, he even feels that Kavik the Wolf Boy is little better than the scum he fights, due to the primal toon being a vigilante willing to work with villains on Vanguard assignments.
Other characters, like Kid Kilovolt, are simply superheroes with back-stories completely unrelated to anything going on in paragon City, the Rogue Isles, or Praetoria. KK operates in Paragon City because that happens to be where the action is. His Praetorian counterpart the Kilovolt Kid is a willing member of Powers Division, but really he isn't so much loyal to a cause as he is working with whatever 'system' is in place to uphold laws and catch criminals. Neither version of KK relies on CoH lore for their origins or motivations. -
300 INF on Percy! That kid gets himself kidnapped every week or so it seems.

Kind of hated that trailer. Of course I'm looking forward to the movie, but we were just fed several scenes from BATMAN BEGINS and THE DARK KNIGHT with a tiny drop of new material added in to justify the trailer's existence. Did anyone catch Anne Hathaway in that? No? Because she wasn't there!
