    Post a Character

I'm very fond of the Green Scare and Bacterium, myself. I've seen both of them around in-game on a couple occasions and they always stand out to me as exceptional.
  2. I just took my new laptop with windows 7 out of the box, and when I try to run the cohupdater it consistently freezes up on "checksumming", resulting in a reboot or a blue screen and THEN a reboot every time.

I'm not REALLY sure what's wrong, the laptop doesn't have any problems running other things (though I haven't tried to run other games yet). I went into the folder and deleted the .checksum files as I saw that was frequent advice to problems similar to mine, but it hasn't done anything.

It usually gets stuck at about 15-11 seconds left, once or twice it got down to 2. I really don't know what any of this means, so I figured you guys might be able to help me out. I still haven't pinpointed what's wrong with Google.

Thanks in advance for any help.
  3. A new channel Virtue CCs has started up for organizing and advertising costume contests in both Paragon City and the Rogue Isles.

Hopefully this will clear up AP broadcast a bit and get some more people congregating in zones of the Isles, as I've only seen one villain costume contest that wasn't planned out extensively in my history of playing a villain.

  5. Hrm. In general, weapon sets. These include:
    - Broad Sword
    - Katana
    - Dual Blades
    - Battle Axe
    - War Mace
    - TA/Archery (Though I've had the odd desire to roll a TA character recently...)

It's not because of how fun they might be, it's just because I haven't been able to enjoy a concept that calls for one of those. I do have a level 50 AR Blaster and Shield Scrapper, which I never thought I'd get into, so exceptions can be made and maybe I'll roll one of these in the future.

And then I don't think I'll ever play Empathy/Pain Dom, just because of the healer stigma I've seen.
  6. Ninja Run is epic for one reason. Target someone who has Walk activated and turn on Follow. This is what I do for fun.

But really, I've got one character who doesn't have a travel power, my Crab Spider. He uses Ninja Run regularly (even though it's hilarious with the Crab Pack, it still looks... fitting). I have plans to do this with at least 2 more characters. Then I have my Stalker who has TP, but I often resort to NR because he looks cool doing it.

Granted, I do have the characters that look really weird using NR. NR, to me, is meant to ease the pain of not having a travel power before Lv. 14 (or whenever you fit one into your build).
  7. My all-time favorite concept I've come up with is Drug's:

He's a Necro/Poison MM. He was my first villain 50... and I think what really sets him apart from my others is that he is one of the only characters I have that I thought of a concept for before I thought of powersets. Usually I base my concept off of powersets I want to play.

    Loooove this guy.
  8. My current main, a Fire/Shield Scrapper named Draconic, really came alive to me when I got Against All Odds, then again when I got Shield Charge. The combo started out crazy fun for me from the get go, but he really took off at that point and I've never looked back. Now that he's level 50, he's the first character I've completely IO'd out, and is my go-to toon for missions, TFs, raids, etc. He's pretty much spoiled me for my other characters, heh.

Then two of my other characters, Startup and Webspider (AR/Mental Blaster and Crab Spider respectively), really popped out to me from the get-go because of the concepts I had for them, which really allowed me to get into the whole vibe of the character. Leveling 'em to 50 wasn't hard because I enjoyed the concepts so much.
  9. I've got a 50 AR/Mental and every level was crazy fun. The four cones + M30 Grenade are so satisfying to fire off... and /Mental has all sorts of little tricks to it that make it a blast.

As a Corruptor or Defender, though, I have no idea. That's just my experience.

    LOL.

I told her I put it up here and she got embarrassed, but then I told her everyone liked it and she said "Thank you!"

    So, thank you.
  11. Just got my first piece of artwork done:

I've been letting my 6 year old sister play around on CoH and she turned around and made this for me... It's my Fire/Shield Scrapper Draconic fighting Council in a cave. I gotta say that this is the best first piece I could have ever gotten.

And here's a screenshot for comparison:

I think the kid is going places

  13. I know they fixed the Invincibility looping sound problem, but there are still some things that are weird about Invulnerability.

One, the animation+sound of Unyielding is delayed. Once you toggle it on, the character goes into the stance, but the aura doesn't become visible and the sound doesn't go off for a good 2.5-ish seconds after you toggle it on.

And Invincibility, while now functionally working correctly, has the animation but no visible aura. The sound DOES play, though. And in the right spot, too.

I use the default Invulnerability as far as colors go, but I tested Invincibility in custom colors and the aura still doesn't transfer outside of the costume creator.

  15. I probably won't be rolling a DP character...

... unless Corruptors get Poison. OMG.
  16. Holy mother of everything, your art is amazing. You make me want to go look for my dusty tablet pen that's been sitting in a pile around here somewhere.

Seriously, everything is completely jaw-dropping. I'm inspired.
  17. ... yeah, this is very irritating. The sound and the lack of visual effects both.
  18. Alas, these crab legs are permanent unless you respec out of the crab build. I made the mistake of adding a crab build onto my bane spider and I absolutely hate it.

    Your Blasters...

The only one I've got right now is...

    Seaborn (Sonic/Elec - Lv. 43)

... he's so much fun and Sonic is just awesome. It's got some of the most satisfying effects - and I might be one of the only people in the game that actually likes the sounds it makes.

I also got an AR/Mental blaster up to Lv. 45, but I've deleted him. It was a HUGE blast, maybe better than Sonic/Elec, but I just have this weird thing against playing weapon sets, heh.

Makes sense. Going up to 50 I used Unstoppable more than I do now, though recently I've been working on getting some influence in to work me up to the soft cap (after using generic IOs for a bit) and I'm already noticing huge differences, one being in how often I actually feel the need to use Unstoppable. I stupidly didn't even consider that you would want it on the way up, but it does make sense.

And like I said, I took all 9, so it was pure speculation. Thanks for the correction.
  21. Hey all! I'm Coldcrash/CC/Wilcox/Whatever you want to call me. I just noticed there was an entire thread devoted to introductions.

    *facepalm*

    I liek 2 drall thigns n color 2

I'm also a screenshot fanatic. This game can get some purty pictures.

  22. I'm totally on board for the groundpunch for Solar Flare... and a handclap for Pulsar would be great.

I'd keep Incandescent Strike as-is, though... it's probably one of the most satisfying powers EVER. I feel so cool using it. :P
  23. I just got my SoA to 50 on Friday. I'm gonna recommend going Bane. You get pretty good defense combined with good damage and the ability to crit... I feel completely and obnoxiously awesome when playing him.

Up to Lv. 24, he felt awesome right off the bat. You'll have fun with your SoA no matter what you pick - I've honestly never heard of anyone not doing so.

    New to Invul

    (QR)

Thought I'd throw in my personal opinion...

I took all nine powers from invuln. If you were gonna skip some, the first I'd throw out would be Unstoppable and Resist Energies, with probably Unstoppable going first. It's really situational and if you take Tough+Weave, you're probably gonna be pretty decent as a Tanker with probably no need for it. I haven't actually used it in forever (except when just messing around), but I like to have it just in case something goes wrong.
