  1. Another issue...

The "ornate 2" emblem is STILL not appearing on any base item such as banners, holograms, etc. This has been a known issue for months and the support team says they can do nothing about it, only the game designers. I had hoped that with all the new base goodies in I8, there would also be a fix for this bug. Unfortunately not.

CoH remains a success in NCSoft's portfolio. They're continuing to financially support the product for a long time to come...Cryptic Studios loves the game. It's our baby. The game isn't going anywhere!

Jack, I know it's up to NCSoft (not Cryptic) whether or not to implement server transfers and/or additional character slots for a fee but could you please put a bug in their hear? Both additional slots and server transfers would be welcome and would only make them additional money.
  3. Please put me down for number 15 for Wrayth.

    Here's a back shot.
  4. Thanks for getting it back up so quickly Polaris!
  5. The site appears to be down at the moment.

A tall bookcase is exactly 2 levels deep, so that's a pit with 256 bookcases carefully arranged in it. I originally wanted to make a firepit out of torches using a combination of bookcases and floor torches (which are also exactly 2 levels deep if you subtract the flame), but it didn't look nearly as good as I thought it would.

    Very creative!
  7. I like the wooden floor! Did you use floor tiles for that effect or something else?
  8. I'd love some artwork of Red Warlord. Thank you in advance if you manage to find time for this.

Am I missing something? Whenever I place logo items, the logo doesn't show up at all. My SG colors are processing into the items correctly, but the logo itself is just a blank square. Am I doing something wrong? All my graphics settings are on the highest quality, so I don't think that is it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is happening to us too. "Ornate 2" does not display on any items. I've tested other emblems and they work fine. Is this a "known issue" for the DEVs?

Lots of Legion of Valor registering lately. Didn't see a link from your site in my quick browsing of it, but thanks if you *are* promoting it

85, my SG has been pushing the limit constantly. We decided to add an sg to our Coalition for the 50's.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I want to clear up some misconceptions. First, the SG member cap is 75. Coalitions are for chatting only, they have no other purpose. The will not be able to share prestige and can not build bases together. A little birdie at Cryptic informed me of this.

Next, I'm also told that prestige will be earned at a constant rate regardless of character level. Level 5 or 50 doesn't matter.

There will be "rent" every month on your bases. Bigger and more complex base=more building costs and rent.

Large, complex bases will be VERY expensive. Small SGs will be able to afford small, simple bases. Only large and active SGs will be able to afford to build and maintain big bases.

Only your toons in your SG earn prestige for your SG. Alts outside the SG do not.

What does this all mean? First, smaller SGs will probably combine in game to be able to participate in larger raids and certainly to build nicer bases. Who wants a one room basement to share?

I've been trying hard to get the SG member cap removed. If we don't, your going to find that either there's no room for you in the SG you want to join or there's only room for one character. If you play an alt outside the SG, you won't be earning anything toward your base.

So, you may be in a small group now, and that's OK. But, you may find yourself wanting to be part of a larger group so that you can hav an impressive base to hang out in. Make sure there's enough room for you and the alts you play regularly by asking to have the SG member cap lifted.
  16. Zeb Cooke declared:[ QUOTE ]
One thing about Prestige is as you get higher, it becomes a trade-off betwee Prestige or Influence. As you get more of the first, you get less of the second. So there are times you'll want to change to or from SG mode instead of being in it all the time.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Having fun is what it's all about. How does this make the game more fun? Below level 35, you earn prestige, influence and salvage simultaneously. There's no problem for 35 levels and making it an issue after that is an unneccessary complication. Frankly, it will make the game less fun for me.
  17. Still no official word from the DEVs on changes to supergroups in light of the new "prestige". I remind you all that prestige will not be transferable, so only your toons in your SG will be able to earn it.

    That means...

<ul type="square">[*]If you're in a coalition, you won't be able to share bases or prestige with other coalition members.[*]If your SG is split into several smaller SGs in game, they won't be able to contribute to the same base.[*]If all your toons don't fit into your SG, you won't be earning prestige for the SG when playing many of them.[/list]Keep in mind that the DEVs have said that large bases will be expensive, so if you want anything larger than a "modest" base (ugh!) you need to be earning prestige all the time. That means allowing larger SGs, so we need to get the member cap removed or substantially raised.

Also, in regards to cost, the DEVs have also stated that not only will bases be expensive, "rent" is going to be collected every 2 weeks. Also, some parts of the base will be destructable during raids, so those items will need to be replaced also.

So, please post here and also contact the DEVs to let them know you support removal of the artificial member cap. Thanks.

Something that I think would also be good would be the ability to link Supergroups together to pool prestige and buy one base.

You (the supergroup) could only be in one overall group. Leaving the overall group refunds all of your prestige (or perhaps only 75%, however the loss from the "pool" is the 100%). The remaining group loses equipment/size/etc starting with its latest or most expensive purchases until it covers the loss.

Would suit the groups that have "alt" groups to cope with numbers. They can have one base for everyone and the secretive, antisocial loner branch could even choose not to link up and build their own.

However it would also benefit little 2 or 3 person supergroups which could also band together and set up a Heroes Inc. bunch of offices, distinct yet housed together.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is an interesting, if complicated solution. At least it addresses the problem of alts, something few people seem to be discussing. What concerns me is that I thing the majority of players in SGs are going to run into alt trouble and yet there has been little talk about it.

I assume most of the people sharing ideas in this thread enjoy SGs or you wouldn't be concerned with bases. If you are reading this, how many alts do you have? Is there room for all of them in your SG?

I'm betting the majority of people in SGs cannot get all their alts in. With only 75 openings, 10 players could not put all 8 toons into one SG. Even with 5 alts, that limits an SG to 15 members (5x15=75).

So, there are going to be time when you want to play an alt but you won't be earning Prestige for your SG simply because there was no room for the alt in the SG.

The solution quoted above might work but seems a bit complicated. I'd suggest removing the SG member cap. Yes, the DEVs were originally against it but the game has changed since the cap was put in place. Prestige will change it even more.

If not removal of the cap, at least a change to 75 player accounts instead of toons. Heck, we can only play one toon at a time.

My point is, we should be able to support our SG by earning prestige, no matter which toon we're playing..
  19. Yet another problem with this if Prestige indeed becomes the currency for bases... Alts! I've long wanted to see the SG cap removed but since it hasn't been, let's look at alts.

If you're like most CoH players, you play many different toons. Now, for example, let's say everyone in your SG has 8 toons they play. That means that 9 people could almost fill an SG (9 players x 8 alts = 72 toons). So, if your SG has 10 or more people in it, you can't have all your toons in it. So, now you are forced to play a toon that IS actually in the SG to earn prestige.

Let's use lower numbers. Assuming everyone in your SG has 5 toons they play from time to time, 15 members could have 75 toons. My point is that most people are going to have toons that aren't in their SG due to the 75 toon cap.

I can see it coming. "Darnit, I want to play this toon but if I do, I won't be earning any Prestige for my SG. Guess I better go GRIND prestige on my SG character."

If the DEVs are going to use prestige for bases, they either need to lift the member cap or at least make it 75 accounts, not characters, so you can have all your alts in the SG.

  21. I'm sure this has been asked elsewhere but I didn't see it. What is the cap on your Global Friends list? It seems to be about 30 which is WAY too low. If you can have 75 people in your SG, why wouldn't you have at least that many available slots on Global Friends?
  22. Still need a working bind to open the Channel Members window. The one posted before doesn't work properly. Also, the main thing my SG has asked for is to show the global handle and the toon being played in the channel members window, similar to the global friends list. Right now, it only shows the global handle.

Somebody should point out that you can keybind the Global Chat Channel menu thingy.

    /bind &lt;key&gt; "menu$$contextmenu 2"

will allow you to open and close the window.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Still waiting for someone with binding expertise to help with this as it is not working properly. The main menu stays open after the Channel Members window pops up. Then, you have to close the main menu. Basically, the bind opens the main menu, selects Channel Members and then doesn't close.

Since many of us will be opening and closing the Channel Members window frequently, it would sure be helpful to have a bind that allows us to do it with one keystroke.
