The problem with Teleport is that it does not have a dedicated travel power Enhancement type. It uses Range Enhancers which unlike Flight, Run Speed, and Jump Speed Enhancers are on Schedule B meaning they only give 20% each up to a max of 60% instead of the others which are schedule A and give 33% up to a max of 99%.
Teleport is 40% less enhanceable than other travel powers.
Solution: We need a dedicated Enhancer only for Teleport Distance. Then it can be Schedule A.

I agree! I'd also like to know why ALL of the other Travel Powers increase with level but Teleport doesn't seem to (or if it does it's VERY slowly). My lvl 22 Brute has the one basic slot in Super Jump and he covers huge distances. But my lvl 22 MM with Teleport need to slot it for distance (a class B slot as I'm quoting here) at that.
Teleport needs it's own Enhancement (non-Inventions first please!) and then a lvl-based increase in distance. -
Base Monitor Duty
Originally suggested by : Darkelven_Vixxen
Catagory: Base Team Upgrade
Customizable?: Yes
Type: Purchased
Description: This upgrade would enable a single character to assume the role of Base Monitor and use special Base equipment to aid teams of characters in the field. Aid could come in the form of simple information, calling for outside assistance, gathering and organizing the team and emergency evac teleports to name a few.
Specifics: In order to assume the role of Base Monitor a character would have to be present in a Base where the necessary Monitoring Equipment has been installed. Clicking on this equipment would open another window (likely full-screen but not necessarily) from which the character could perform Monitor Duties.
The initial piece of Monitoring Equipment would be relatively inexpensive and draw little power but it's capabilities would be very limited. Initially the Monitor would be able to see the map of any zone the base has active Teleport beacons to. From these maps he would be able to send and receive communications in Broadcast, Team and SG channels as well as tels. He would also be able to facilitate the forming of teams by use of a Team Searching / Looking for Team roster. From this roster he could send information to various characters on teams awaiting other characters or looking for teams. Any characters in the SG whose Base he was Monitoring from might have additional information at his disposal such as mission preferences ('Don't like tunnels') and personal messages (No PLing).
Once a team was formed they could elect to maintain contact with the Monitor or not. If they did then at the end of their mission he would receive the Mission End bonus or at least a fraction thereof for his efforts. If the team elected not to remain in contact there might be an option to Trade with the Monitor so the team might gift the Monitor for his time gathering the team.
If the Monitor maintained contact througout the mission then he would have several abilities granted to him based on how good the Monitoring Equipment was and possibly tied to the Monitor's level as well.
The initial Monitoring Station might enable the Monitor to see the mission maps as the team clears them and communicate to the team. This could facilitate searches, lost or down teammates etc.
Upgrading the Monitoring Equipment might enable the Monitor to (in no particular order) do the following:
See a small portion of the map not yet cleared by the team.
Activate ally Buffs and/or enemy Debuffs that could be defined as hacking the mission location's power systems, security, lights and so on. These Buffs and Debuffs would be small (on the order of 5%) but they would stack with the team's existing Buffs if any.
Call for outside assistance in the form of one or more groups of allies (PPD, Longbow, Arachnos, etc). Such assistance would have a time delay to arrive and a time limit on-site to prevent abuse. The typical level of the reinforcements would be dependant upon the level of the Monitoring Equipment (better is good) and the Difficulty setting of the mission. They're intended to help out...not do the mission for the team.
Teleport downed team members back to the base even if there was no Resuscitate Ring in the Base (as long as there was an ative Teleporter to that zone). The character would arrive unconscious and need to be revived by established means (Inspirations, Rez Powers, etc). Alternately a VERY expensive and sophisticated Base upgrade might enable the Monitor to use a form of Teleport Other to send the downed team member to another (cleared) point on the map such as where the team has gathered to heal up.
The possibilites for this are virtually endless. The benefits are many and range from added Base use to faster team assembly to the ability to add a 'ninth man' to the team.
The range of players that could benefit is also very wide. Tactical team experts could utilize the Team Roster function to quickly and effectively gather teams. RPers could enjoy the RP aspects of being the Base Monitor or from being on a team with a 'big brother' watching over them. Players that might have trouble finding a team could list themselves on the roster instead of spamming the Broadcast with LFT messages. If any of the Monitor functions were tied to the Monitor's level then the higher-level characters, especially 50s, could participate in missions in a whole new way. Even soloists could benefit if they wanted to do the 'one-man tac-ops' type of mission with the support guy on the radio feeding the guy in the field intelligence. -
Much as I love the Spines set I've deleted a hero and a Villain with it out of silple aesthetic reasons. Firstly I HATE the 'all-over body spines' look. Virtually destroys any idea of costume that I may have had.
Second, the first attack power (Swipe? unsure) looks rediculous IMHO. I have no problem with the fact that many of the other melee sets have two different attacks, one that is a one-handed strike and one that is two-handed. I think that the first Spine attack power animation should be altered to be something other than 'I wave my pointy hands at you'...
Pity too...I really do like the set...just not the look. -
Ok sorry if this has been covered before but my search-fu is weak...
Formed the SG. Bought the Teleport room. Crafted the Teleporter and got it to fit. Now I need to do the whole Beacon thing which is where I'm hung up.
How do you get beacons for the various zones?
I know it involves travel badges and such but not sure as to the specifics. I've never been a badge-hunter before so kinda lost here.
Also, if this involves travelling around the different zones would it be best to just use the Stalker on full Hide with the Movement Power to just get it done quickly or is there some hidden mystery to it all?
Thanks for the help...in advance... -
Ok I read here somewhere that the amount of Pres does not always update quickly so I logged back in and headed for the Base Edit. Lo and behold there sat my Teleporter in my Personal list with the big red 15,000 under it and my remaining Pres of 5K and change. Obviously what happened was that buying the 'Porter and trying to place it tallied the cost which I did not have and the Pres counter simply hadn't updated by the time I saw it. NP now...just earn more Pres and place the Teleporter.
Ok...on to the next Nooblet question: Where and how do you get Teleport Beacons other than paying the 10K cost? I believe I heard something about having to go to the beacon site once or something but am not sure. Also, since each Teleporter can actually support 2 destinations (2 Beacons yes?) then a full Teleporter will cost 15K to buy and place as well as 20K for the two beacons?
Ah the discovery of new things! Also did my first Arena Battle tonight...what a blast!
As always help is appreciated. -
I'm new to base building so her's the Noob question for the day: I just crafter the Power Items necessary to fabricate a Teleport Pad. I'm in the process of placing the thing and I see that the Group Prestige, which was sitting at 5K and change when I started, is suddenly at -19K and change. I saw no mention that fabricating stuff costs Prestige so I figured I'd come here and see what was what.
I didn't buy anything for 20K while making the Teleport Pad did I? if so a notice would have been nice...
Just wondering where the Pres went so that next time I can budget for it. Thanks in advance for replies. -
Not even going here...So many speculations out there now the fabric of the universe may rip if we tackle Inventions from one more dir...
RRRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
Main Hero
1) B...I'd at least try to mentor the kid. If it worked out then I've got (likely much-needed) help. If not, we can always choose another option.
2) B As a Hero (well, my Main hero anyway) safety of the population comes before my own honor. Try to lead him away and then drag him back unconscious later.
3) C While the safety of the civilians is paramount no sense in walking into something like a loud tv covering someone fooling around on the couch and looking like an idiot.
Main Villain
1) B Can't give up and just go boom but can't surrender either. Gotta at least TRY to get away.
2) C Future allies can serve their purposes.
3) A No offense but even if they win what if they want to strip mine my new little kingdom down to bedrock next year? Forget it...ya gotta have something to steal right? If they wreck it all then where's the fun?
Interesting survey btw...Very fun. -

1000 seconds is perfectly fine. As long as recharge buffs don't affect it.

Here here! 16.6 minutes would seem like an eternity anyway. -
I'm glad I'm not the only one that does this lol!
Ikaris Son of Fire gets Holding out for a Hero by Bonnie Tyler.
Jet Black gets anything fast.
Iron Tiger gets Kung Fu Fighting.
Major Medical gets anything with healing or saving in it.
Model 9 and Shocker (same guy really, two incarnations) get Pressure by Billy Joel. They're Blasters you see...
On the Villains side Dr Zombie gets Dead Man's Party and Living Dead Girl.
Total Violence gets anything involving lots of smashing in it. Lots of Industrial there.
Deadly Nightshade gets Poison Ivy.
...and the list goes on and on... -
Greetings all! I'm a relatively new (3 mo vet badge) player on CoX but a superhero RPer from way back. By now I've done lots of time on-line with my various alts but I'm thinking about getting into the RP scene and I have some questions.
1) Is there a better server than others for RP?
2) How exactly does on-line RP work? I've only done the pencil and paper kind. Someone starts a thread, lays the ground rules and everyone justs posts in that 'world' or what?
3) What would be the best way to hook up with an on-line artist to see if they're drawing any CoX based comics?
4) If I decide to start my own RP thread can I expect a trickle or a flood of replies? I have more free time than most but not THAT much!
Thanks in advance for any help. -
(mewling in the corner)
Me want...please? -
after bug fixes I still think that this is the best idea ever posted on the forums. All benefit and (except for the coding) no drawbacks. So much potential here that it's staggering.
I want my Tanker to be invincible for 60 seconds. I mean REALLY invincible. Yeah, the recharge will be like 1000 and at the end of that time I'm going to be down to 1 End and Disoriented but who cares? No, I can't take an AV or a GM in 60 seconds so it's not an 'I win' button but when the rest of the team is faceplanted with all of their Rez powers on the four minute timer and the third red Boss shows up they're all looking at me to win the day.
Oh yes...me want! -
This thread confirms what I've been telling my friends for two months or more. My Main Blaster draws ALL of the aggro the first time he fires off an attack...be it early or late in the battle. I stand in the corner...WAY in the corner...and nothing bad happens. I fire off ONE normal Blast, not even the Built-Up Sniper plasma torpedo I love so much, and the whole room is on me.
We've designed our team around this fact actually so if they nerf it it's good for the AT and bad for our team. Two Tankers with PBAoE fire on followed up by two Controllers with AoE ready followed by two other characters with Tar Patch and then there's me...the plasma cannon.
We line up in the hallway or at the doorway to the room. The Tankers hit their Fire AoE and everyone else stands ready. I fire off my Sniper bolt, generally killing or maiming one target. The rest run THROUGH the Fires, get hit with the Troller AoEs, stuck in the Tar Patches and then fried by all of us. We've taken down whole mobs of +2s with the second shot but now the team is too focussed on this one concept. If we get hit in the open we turn into a layered defense with everyone in front of me.
I'm tempted to not run a Blaster until they fix this or give us some sort of new AT that will enable us to survive at least SOME of this unwanted attention... -
Of all of the numerous good ideas I've read on the boards I would seriously vote for this one first right after bug fixes. My Mains are in the mid-20s with lots of alts in the teens but I would seriously focus on the Mains (a Blaster and a Brute) to be able to do this!
My Blaster (Energy Blast/Electrical) would have some sort of huge energy blast that would do a little bit of damage around me from the back-blast and a minor Disorient (LOTS of electricity) and the rest would be a sniper-like blast with Energy and Fire/Heat damage and lots of knockback.
My Brute (SS/Invul) would become an implaccable engine of destruction for like 30 seconds with tremendous damage buffs for all of his melee attacks and a huge bonus to his Hit Points. If I take so much damage during that time that I'm at zero health when the power switches off then I fall down. But what a mess he would make of an AV or a mob of Purples...
All in all a VERY cool idea! -
I'm a nut for customizing things for my characters so this idea, if properly implemented, would rock.
Part of the initial pick could include a weapon animation as a base (Ninja Sword, Broadsword, whatever) if that's what the player wants as his sig power. Almost like a sig manuver for martial arts (We are the only school that teaches the heart-destroying shovel kick!) but available for everyone.
The temp power idea is also very cool and almost a whole new power. I'm hoping that inventions will enable Mages (a new AT maybe?) to make one-shot powers to give to others on a limited basis.
"Okay, we're all about to go into combat with the Giant Space Monster. MentalMan, since this one is robotic your Deceive won't work very well and the five extra slots you'de dropped on it will be useless. You can still support the rest of us but your main attacks will be ineffective. Here, I hereby lend you a small fraction of my power so that, in a dire circumstance and only once, you can fire off this mega-blast."
Very cool both as a way to let friends and teammates test the powers but also as a one-time aid or weapon to someone. Yes, this means that Blasters might have a defense (finally...grumble grumble...) or Tankers a ranged attack but if you can only do it once, and for one teammate, then I don't think abuse will be a problem. Heck, after I got Flight I wanted to give someone else my half-full Raptor Pack...
A great idea all around... -

Oh a map click teleport would be awesome... I'd say make the activation time take longer depending on the distance of the tp. That would keep it fair. I'd keep the current teleport functionality too so that you can still get around in places like The Web.
I use teleport with my main villain and I would love to be able to travel accross long distances without having to click 20-30 times.
As far as group teleport I'd just like to see it work properly with MM pets. I used to use it but respec'd it out because I kept dropping pets as I was traveling accross the map.

Boy am I glad I read this thread! One of my Villains just got Port and I think it rocks. Of course he still has his Raptor Pack too. Hopefully that lasts until I can get Hover...
But I was going to go for GTP for his pets but if they're going to fall out then I'll just resummon them at the other end.
To be honest tho I think TP can be the fastest and most controllable movement powere when coupled with Hover. Yes, three powers to two but when I crossed 800+ yards of hostile ground with three clicks and a couple of short (5 yard) runs in about ten seconds I didn't care if I needed Hover or not honestly...My thoughts on this will likely change around lvl 30+ when the one power I must have (wbatever that is) is tough to get because I have Hover.
On-map TP is a brilliant idea and would have to be regulated somehow because with it (and a better target cursor...the red circle of doom is kinda a pain) nobody would ever take SJ again I think. But if a lvl 30 Porter with three ex-range slots could get from the middle of the city sector to a corner that means across the sector...any sector...in two ports. Now THAT's fast!
