  1. Awwwwww man!!

A true comedy legend leaves us.

This one really hits home for me, I used to watch his films so much when I was little, sat at my Nanna's house, eating crumpets and drinking tea, laughing myself silly at the antics.

I will really treasure those memories.
  2. Hey all

Been trying to find a thread that may predate the Great Wipe, wondered if anyone knew where it was.

Someone once created a full version of the band KISS, complete with cossies and a stage in their base. I've done a search on the forums but can't seem to find it.

Anyone know where it is? Or has it gone forever? Or are there any images out there on the ol' www?

    Any help gratefully received
  3. Makes you feel really old though!!

More of a US legend, but spread out around the world enough, 60 years from a comic strip is pretty damn impressive
  4. Seriously.....you'll accept people from different planets, people being reincarnated over thousands of years, people flying and being invulnerable, heat vision, mystical helmets that tap into ancient forces, men from mars, cloning of full life people......but not weird bullets??

    HAH! Tell me about it!!

I'm constantly having debates with the kids at work who see nothing wrong with buying pirate DVD's and Games. Thye just don't see it as theft, at all, somply because they pay money for them from some dodgy bloke at the market stall.

I tried to point my last job was selling DVD's and CD's and that company went bankrupt and one of the reasons was piracy (yes, I know, not the only reason, but it still had an effect), but they just don't get it and think I'm mad for buying CD@s rather than juts torrenting them all.
  6. Hmmmm

Now, part of me is all for this, I want to see more of all the DC universe on the big and small screen, but putting WW specifically on TV instead of a movie might work against it.

There's still a lot of memory for people of the old 70's camp series to get past, will need to be a VERY different show to work

Plus, will this preclude her being in any future Justice League movie?

Also, Charisma Carpenter for the role!.....or Eliza Dushku!!
  7. Indeed, was a lovely wedding and was great to see Mod08 and Avatea in attendance as well, especially with the little wedding gift they gave you both

So, were they there as friends of the groom or the bride?
  8. "Look, up in the sky......don't say that..."

    Absolute comedy gold

Casting for the Witches will be troublesome now, since Harry potter as two of the best people for the job will always be known as Professor Magonnagal and Professor Sprout.

Anyway, I know the perfect person to play Nanny Ogg.....my wife, Rosie! She's like Nanny in so many ways! Not afraid to be blunt, a great cook with that added extra and people open up to her without knowing it and she knows their life stories within about 5 minutes of meeting her

Not sure who that makes me though.......

    So, Chuck?

    Well, I'm loving it still

I nearly choked when I realised it was the Man Your Man Could Smell Like in the Buy More, and the Star Wars moment with Jeffster and Morgan, I had a mouthfull of sandwich nearly leave my mouth at high speed from laughing so hard!!

Bring on more Chuck, I say

Well, in defence of Blue Rabbit, he did say that was in his view and very little in opinion is "wrong" per se.

Saying that though, Pterry himself started saying about halfway through the series that it was reaching the point that reading the older books would make the books make more sense. Things like the witches start referencing back to stuff from previous backs a lot more, look at the development of Magrat and Agnes as a perfect example.

Same goes for The Guards, so much happens in previous books, you can read the later books and still enjoy them, but as his writing is so nuanced, reading them all in the original order means you'll get the little in-jokes and references more (things like L-Space get a small reference in Small Gods, for instance, if you've read the earlier books you'll understand that small section of the book much more if you know who's saving the books in the library )

For me, I've always preferred to read any series in order, but I can understand why people disagree with the Discworld series. The first 2 books especially and arguably the first 4 are before Pterry really got into the style of the series, but then, even that has been refined in the latter half of the run.

Either way, someone new to Discworld is in for a real treat and I am immensely jealous of them! I wish I could forget all the books so I could go back and read them all again
  12. Awesomesauce as always!!

Stick my vote down for Game On, though, love the song and the video as well
  13. Nearest equivalent must be this, surely?

    The True Awesomesauce!!

But I need to dig out Nanny's cookbook for the actual recipe

Wow, this has made my day. Just that someone else out there knows this band.
    Seven tracks on my EP.

    Change
    No Concern
    Reason
    Repeatedly
    Run
    Stationary Decay
    The Queen Is Our Slave

Can't remember where I got it, I think it was a friend I used to work with, I worked in a CD and DVD shop for over 10 years and collected a LOT of music in that time. Bad for me but good as well, the company went bankrupt and was taken over three times befor giving up the ghost and they did a lot of clearance sales, CD's for about 25-50 pence each, so I was getting the likes of the entire discography of Iron Maiden for about £5

needless to say I bought a huge amount of stuff whilst it was cheap, plus as staff that lost their job we were allowed to grab a load of stuff when the company went under as we never got our last months wages

Bad times personally, but great times for my CD collection

Anyway, I've dug the CD out and added it to my mp3 playlist for you, so it's all set to go after my next theme set, make sure to tune in

Also, if you want to see my playlist have a look at the thread here on my forum for the full and current list, but bear in mind it's ever expanding as I add more CD's from the vaults!

Gods, I hate that band with a passion, complete WSB!! (Tune in to my show for what that acronym means) but hey, each to their own

The rest of that list does indeed rock hard though, so, you know....you get a reprieve!

I've only found a few songs on YouTube by them, and have some songs a friends sent me: The Queen is our Slave Run), Opus Bridge, The Delta Fiasco or Machinae Supremacy, there'll be some major props from me.

And again, thanks for even more excellent suggestions everyone, I'm going to be slowly making my way through these before my albums arrive.
Oh, well, you're in luck, I have that EP already, partial a bit of Run at times

I can't play it this week sadly, I'm doing my first theme night for the Rock Zone (Big Hair Rock!! All the best stuff from the likes of Twisted Sister, Poison, Thunder, Alice Cooper, Whitesnake, Kiss etc!! ) but I will definitely play some the week after for you, if you're tuned in, feel free to join the Rogues Radio channel in game, it's a public one!

    SNIPPAGE

As I said in another post, I'll give Death Magnetic another try. Maybe there is hope.
You know, that has to be one of the most reasoned and intelligent answers to that question I've seen in a bloody long time.

Kudos on you for that! Most of the time it's usually foul-mouthed retorts about "they sold out!!" or "it's a freaking masterpeice of metal and you die for hating it!!"

Death Magnetic is ok, not as good as their earlier stuff, far better than St. Anger. (Hate that album with a passion, rubbish tracks and gods awful production quality!)

I don't mind some of the tracks on the likes of Load and Reload, but I agree with you that it's more aimed at the masses than their earlier stuff is. (Battery and Shortest Straw are fantastic tracks, to my mind)

A debate about the band though, that would be a whole different topic
  18. ....people know he's not afraid of anything!!

Yes, I know, I'm very late to the Firefly bandwagon, but damn, I would love a hat like that!!

    Can anyone crochet?

Those four are must haves in any heavy collection.

    Anthrax- Among the Living
Megadeth- Peace Sells, but who's buying
    Motorhead- Ace of Spades
Pantera- Cowboys from Hell (I prefer this to Vulgar...)
Great choices there, but no love for the Black Album by Metallica? I know a lot of people class it as the album they sold out, but there's still some awesome stuff on there!

Avoid the Tin Bath......sorry, the St. Anger album though, dreadful album, but their latest album is a big improvement at least.
  20. Oh wow......did someone invoke the Rock God in me

Ok, seriously now, I know I plug the station any chance I can get, that's only natural, I own and run the station with my good lady wife, Rose, but I had to reply to this one.

When it comes to Rock music, we have some AWESOME DJ's who speicalise in just the sort of thing you are after.

As well as my own Rock Zone on a Saturday night 10-12pm, where I play, well, whatever rock and metal nonsense come to me at any times, we also have 3 others who play Rock.

Headstrong is on every Tuesday at 7pm, but he's a young 'un and tends to play more modern stuff, like Disturbed, Trapt and the like, perhaps not exactly what you are after.

What you really need is to tune in on a Thursday night, as we have 2 DJ's you might love. At 10pm we have Escalus who tends towards the Queen/ELO style of rock, but plays plenty of other cracking rock stuff.

For the true connoisseur though, you need to listen to Jay, Thursday night at 8pm. His knowledge is second to none and constantly leaves me amazed at the depth of information he has about the music he loves! A lot of the stuff been mentioned so far in this thread has been played by him and discussed as well. If you want to know about the albums, he's like the Wikipedia of Rock, but without the fanboy inaccuracies

Again, apologies for coming across like a plug for the station, but I really think you'll love Jay's set, he reaslly deserves the mantle of Rock King.........I am the Rock God though :P
  21. Tony Todd would voice an awesome Darkseid.....
  22. Lady Weaver Of Dreams.....you may wish to worship the Higher Gods.....

  24. That looked pretty good, caught the feel of the Iron Man movies well, I thought.

But, why was he fighting a green Brainiac?
