Just watched the finale and I enjoyed it.
Not as good as Children of Earth, felt it was too long at 10 episodes, would have been better at 5 or 6, and the Oswald Danes storyline didn't really go anywhere, although I suppose it did shine a different light on Torchwood and what they do to achieve their ends.
Still, got much better in the last few eps, and a nice change at the end as well, could make for an interesting next series -
Awesome transcripts as always, and many thanks for posting the Rogues Radio screenshot!
Also, thanks to Zwillinger and the team for the shout out, much appreciated! We'll have to see what we can do about getting one of you important red name people on the station for an interview, although you've got your work cut out topping the Avatea interview that we ran a few months ago -
Damn. Just......damn!
I'd not known him for long myself, we'd passed PM's on here, especially when he was getting grief from people for his prolific posting on this section (I mean, seriously, he got some harsh stuff said to him just because he loved the genre so much and wanted to share the news with people?? How mad was that??!)
It's a sad day to hear news like this, it really is, and I can never find the right words for times like these, so all I will say is, if there was ever a sci-fi geek that deserved regeneration, he was one of them.

Quote:Ah, fair enough then, was a little confused, thought it was for doing the invasion stuff. It is a Global Badge. Same as last time. Additionally, it's not *just* during the events, but during the entire first week of the Headstart.

So, 2 badges for logging in? Cool -
Am I reading this right? The "Defender of Primal Earth" badge can only be gotten in a 2 hour window??
I bloody hope that's a global badge and not a character one! -
This just breaks my heart reading this
Why do people have to be such low-lifes??
Hopefully they'll catch him fast and the poor guy might get at least some of his stuff back -
Just read some of them myself, waiting to get the rest done later.
Action Comics 1 felt.....weird. I can see what they are trying to do, but it takes a bit of getting used to.
Detective Comics 1 was excellent, with an amazing final page!!
JLI 1 was an interesting start but will need some time to gel.
Stormwatch 1. I also don't know the original that well so can't really compare, but was ok. Again, will take time I think. -
Interesting episode, I enjoyed it.
Also, Mark Gatiss has put the rhymes the dolls were singing on his twitter feed....
Quote:I only made out part of each of them, nice to have them written down......have to wonder who they are singing aboutTick tock goes the clock And what now shall we play? Tick tock goes the clock Now summer's gone away?
Tick tock goes the clock And what then shall we see? Tick tock until the day That thou shalt marry me
Tick tock goes the clock And all the years they fly Tick tock and all too soon You and I must die
Tick tock goes the clock He cradled her and he rocked her Tick tock goes the clock Even for the Doctor... -
Actually, one aspect I'm looking forward to seeing is how the general public gradually comes to accept and trust Superman.
If the JL storyline is set early in their careers, it makes sense that people would be nervous and possibly fearful, of the likes of superheroes, especially one as public and powerful as Superman would appear to be. As they say though, trust is earnt, not automatic. It will be interesting to see how he changes over the years as people come to trust Superman as we are used to. I'm not sure that weve really seen that aspect before? -
Actually, looking at the thread title, I would have to say yes......yes he is.
As long as he's in the Tardis, at least -
Finally, managed to get it, thanks to the comixology app on my phone, thanks for that link
Read it, enjoyed it. Was JL the only number 1 released so far then? When are the others out, every Wednesday in the US? Hopefully they have a reading order that's easy to understand, always hated it when I read something that referenced something that wasn't even out yet, happened way too often back in the late 90's!
Still, liked the JL issue, long live DC
Oh, and Batman can steal the ring because, even in this new Universe.....he's still the Batman -

Heh, I love that original post!
"Hey all, can someone quickly explain one of the more complicated Sci-Fi shows that's been around for nearly 50 years please?"
Seriously though, to the OP........I am soooo jealous! I would love to be in the position to enjoy Doctor Who for the first time, all over again! Enjoy it all, there's so much good stuff out there -
See, I want to read these now, and I want to get the digital day and date versions, but I have one question....
WHERE THE HELL DO I GET THEM FROM??
Maybe I've missed something obvious, but I've looked all over the official DC Comics site and can't find anywhere to actually buy them!!
Someone, please, help me out!! -
I wonder if Wolverines super fast healing would be fast enough to keep him alive lone enough to regenerate?
-
Depending on the Age, ie Golden, Silver, Modern, then some forms of Superman could. Indeed, Dark Knight Returns showed it happening, albeit it making him look like a skellington
I think Captain Marvel, Captain Atom, possibly Firestorm? He could transmute it?
And Batman of course, cos, well, he's Batman -
I'm still trying to work out if there was any relevance to the Fish Fingers and Custard bit, or if it was just a throwaway reference to the original one.
He seemed to react to it, I thought he'd figured out a surprise way for an antidote, but it wasn't, clearly. -
Possibly because it was announced on the City Of Heroes facebook page as well? Would be a bit stupid to announce it and then refuse to let us even briefly discuss it?
-
Nonsense, we all know that the question is What Is The Meaning Of Life and we all know the answer as well.....
The Great Answer.....
More seriously......great episode, like that it seems to be finally giving some answers for us, but hey, who trusts the Moff to be telling the truth?
Rule 1. - Moffat Lies! -
Currently? The awesome Heroin Diaries: A Year In The Life Of A Shattered Rock Star by Nikki Sixx.....mostly because of the awesome album that accompanies it
-
Wow!
I always love how Science Fiction gets the ideas in advance of the reality, but this is sooooo close to what they use in Torchwood, it's uncanny!
Makes you wonder if they knew about it, or did the makers of these watch Torchwood? Which came first, the chicken or the egg? -
I was thinking about all the sci-fi movies and TV series I've watched over the years and was pleased that I'd seen most of the important ones, but was dismayed by how much I haven't seen, and it got me thinking, I was almost ashamed to call myself a sci-fi fan for some of the ones I've not seen.
This got me thinking.....what's your secret shame? What's the movie and/or TV series that you know, deep down, as a hard-core, card-carrying, batleH wielding, Spock-grocking sci-fi fan, you SHOULD HAVE WATCHED BY NOW!!
I mean, if you're young, that's one thing, there's a lot you've got to catch up on, but I'm nearly into my 5th decade and I've got a few, so what's yours?
For instance, up until recently, I had never gotten round to watching Firefly and Serenity! (I know, I know!!) and it was only thanks to the pointed stare from Dreamweaver that finally made me get around to it and I loved it and will be eternally grateful to her for doing so.
Now......well.
Tv - The New Battlestar Galactica.
Everyone raved about how good it was, how epic it was, how I should have watched it, but I just never fancied it!! I will get round to it one day, honest!!
Movie - Blade Runner!
OMG I SHOULD BE SHOT!! How have I never watched this yet?? And they're planning a remake or reboot or something?? I might even end up seeing that one first if I'm not careful!!
Wow, feels like I've been to some geek confessional or something.....forgive me Shatner, for I have sinned!
Ok, now you lot, who's feeling brave? -
Great list, although I would have had a different one in there, the one with the kids talking about Batman and we get the animated version of Dark Knight Returns in there
