    Preach, sister!!

on topic, I work for a major teddy bear retail company and even we don't get out the Xmas stuff until 1st November, after Halloween, which I consider just about acceptable.

tbf, some people have to buy early, I know someone who works on oil rigs for several months at a time, he oftern is away for the october/november time and only gets about a week before xmas back inland so being able to buy it early is good for him.
  2. Watched them all over here, love the series, can't wait for the new season, although without my favourite character, not sure how good it will be :S
  3. Damn, I wish my local cinema did something like this!!

Far better than a singalong Sound of Music! :P

Would love to see this done with other films, just imagine it with Monty Python's Life Of Brian!

What other classic quotable films would you choose, if you could?

  5. Great article from Wired here about the things Jobs helped to make and sell.

He might not have been directly involved in the actual making of all of these, but he was instrumental in them all in some way. Easy to forget just how much he worked on, tbh.
  6. I'm not an Apple Hater, nor am I an Apple Fan, but I do appreciate what he did and how he did it. If there's one thing I'll always be eternally grateful for, he was one of the people who helped start and create Pixar, doubt there'll be many people who pull him down for that!

For that alone, he'll be missed.

And whilst I can't say I like the tech aspects of iTunes and how it insinuates itself all over my damn pc for my daughters iPod, it's impossible to deny the effect it's had on the world.

Besides, 56 is too young an age to go nowadays!
  7. Interesting poll

Any thoughts on which will be first to go? Probably Red Hood judging by the responses it got

Not sure where it came from but it sounds like Alex Kingston doing the voiceover so I'd wager it's official.
It is official, it's from Doctor Who Confidential, the behind the scenes show they do after each episode, this was part of it, and excellent it was as well, although, bizarrely, still felt confusing

Glad to see there are still some parts of it we need filling in, like how she learnt to fly the Tardis so well, when they get married for real, etc.
  9. Ye gods, someone tell me this is a piss take??

A gun-toting Alfred? After what happened to his parents??

And no Robin but a young Katana??

    This sounds whack, man!
  10. As usual, I thought it was excellent.

As for the first question, I think we're going to see a whole new bad guy, or possibly a big name returning one, someone who was there right at the beginning of the Universe who the Doctor has gone to stop. He introduces himself as the Doctor, the bad guy says....."Doctor Who?" thus creating the first question?

    Or is that too obvious?

Aye, that's fair, I should have stressed more that I didn't just mean on these forums I've seen it

Elsewhere on the web I read a blog about someone whose 8 yr old daughter didn't like the new Starfire as she wasn't like she was in the cartoon and my immediate thought was, well, she never was in the comics ever so it's a ridiculous thing to say. There's precious few versions of any characters anywhere that are the same in different mediums, including the likes of Batman and Superman.

But I can see how some people wouldn't like the new one, it is a bit of a departure from the version we're more used to, but then she went through numerous changes over the years as well, from the kissing of Dick Grayson to the more warrior based version in the mid to late 90's. I'll just reserve judgement for a few more issues first.

    Well.......erm.......you know...........oh, never mind :P
  13. 3 Words? How about these.

    I'm enjoying them!

Srsly, they've been interesting reads and I've really enjoyed them so far, even the Red Hood book. I have to say, getting really sick of how many people are slagging off the new take on Starfire because she's not like she was in the ****** cartoon series!!

I remember a Starfire in the comics that Dick Grayson had to hold back from killing as she was from a warrior society! She was never a wanton killer, sure, but she we also never the sweet innocent little goody two shoes some people seem to think she is either!
  14. Finally, after three aborted previous attempts, I've managed to roll the version of Turtle-Man I REALLY wanted!!

For those of you new to the character, Turtle-Man is a concept toon I had thought about where the aim was to get to a toon all the way to level 50.....but without ever actually levelling up! All he has is a shovel, a manhole cover and a lot of heart! No travel powers, no massive amounts of enhancements, can't do TF's or Incarnates or anything, he's here to save the day anyway!

Mad, I know, and probably done already, but I felt like a challenge!

Anyway, Turtle-Man is destined for an epic journey and everyone is welcome to join him in his never ending battle on the Exalted server and to add to the insanity, he's even written his own blog on the Rogues Radio website!!

Anyone who teams with him over the long battles or even just interesting people he meets in Paragon City may well appear in the blog, so if you want to join in the madness, feel free to send him an invite, but be warned......he's a little.......self-absorbed
  15. Rogues Radio Second Epic Badger Death Race!
Welcome to the Second Rogues Radio Epic Badger Event!

On 1st October 2011, on the Union server of City Of Heroes, we will be hosting the Second Epic Badger Death Race.......and this time, it's going to be evil!!

For those of you who have never been in a Death Race, it's simple. Basically, you create a brand spanking new lvl 1 Villain on the Union server. You start it in the beginning zone and run to the end zone, on foot, with only your level 1 powers. The twist this time, it's going to be evil by being in the Rogue Isles on City Of Villains!!

And, to make things even more interesting, Rogues Radio will be doing LIVE commentary on air during the event from several of the DJ’s as they watch the race happen! Make sure to be tuned in for the event at the usual links on our front page!

    Rules for entry.

    1. You must be a lvl 1 character. This can be created a couple of mins before the race or several months, but it must be lvl 1. By the end of the race, it must also be lvl 1. No sneaky levelling to give yourself a little bit of a speed boost.
    2. Kheldians and Stalkers are not allowed to enter.
    3. Force Field powerset is not allowed.
    4. All travel has to be done “on foot” This means no using SG bases, however due to the nature of the Rogue Isles, we will allow the use of Ferries and Black Helicopter Line.
    5. Pocket D may be used, but it must be entered ‘on foot’
    6. No using the Good Vs Evil jumpack, Jetpacks or the Pocket D teleport power.
    7. No using the Secondary Mutation power from the mutant pack due to the chance of Speed Increase. We will spot the tell-tale blue flash!
    8. Training Origin Enhancements and Inspirations are allowed.
    9. Entrants may not have any Exploration badges before the event. Only Exception is the badge Next Big Thing as this is right next to the load in area for CoV and may be gotten by accident on load in.
    10. No Entrant should be in any Supergroup. This will prevent using the SG base transports
    11. Entrants may not receive any aid from characters not taking part in the race. This means no heals, no buffs, no debuffs on enemies, no tanking or herding of enemies, no teleports, and no aid of any other kind. Entrants are not allowed to join groups before or during the race.

Various DJ's will be patrolling constantly and updating on air to check for any foul play and the final decision will rest with DJ Coin.

    The Route and Badges.

The route is entirely up to you! However there are several badges that will need to collected along the way so the route may flow naturally from this for you. You will need to collect 11 Exploration badges and they are…..

Mercy Island - Snake Charmer badge
    Mercy Island - Widower/Widow badge
    Port Oakes– Washed Up badge
    Port Oakes– Commuter's Woe badge
Cap Au Diable - Steamed badge

Sharkhead Isle - Forged By Hellfire badge
St. Martial - Deuces Wild badge

    Grandville - Guttersnipe badge
    Grandville - Overlord badge

Entrants will also need to collect the Thrill Seeker badge, found in the Architect building, however which zone you get it from is up to you. This could be a deciding factor in who will win!

Time and Place. The Death Race will be done on the Union server of the European version of City Of Heroes. It will be on 1st October 2011 at 9pm UK time. Please get there by 8.45 at the latest so we can ensure all entrants are fully checked for elligibilty.

Starting point will be the loading area for City of Villains, where you start after creating a new level 1 villain in Mercy Island.

The finishing point will be at our very own Rosie, who will be on her toon right next to Arbiter Rain in Grandville, next to the entrance to The Tangled in the Spider City area of Grandville. To finish you must run up to Rosie and shout IN LOCAL CHAT

    "Rogues Radio is EVIL!!"

We will check chat logs from Rosie and decide the winner from those, so make sure to have them on a key bind!! Bear in mind, shouting it in Broadcast chat does not count, it's Local Chat only! Once we have confirmed that entrants have all the correct badges at the end, the winner will be announced live on air, so make sure to stay tuned in!

It would be advised for entrants to look up the badges on the awesome Badge Hunter and Vidiot Maps website or on the Paragon Wiki in advance to work out where the badges are.

Prizes. Prizes will be for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place as confirmed by our judges. Prizes will be fully announced nearer the date but first prize will definitely include £30 to spend on a game or games of your choice on the Steam games delivery format as well as other prizes, including costume codes to be supplied by the delightful Avatea from NC Soft and Paragon Studios! More details will follow on our website at http://www.roguesradio.com or stay tuned to out Facebook and Twitter feeds for latest news!

So, what are you waiting for? Get your character ready, all set to go and get learning where the badges are and we’ll see you in Mercy Island!

    2nd Death Race!!

    Hey all!

I posted this in the events forum, but I know not everyone looks there, so I thought I'd risk cross-posting here as well!

The original thread is here but more people frequent here, so here's hoping people can join us next week for the madness!
  17. Coin

    Floating Coins

    Wait.....what??

What did I do?? I don't float, I never chose Hover OR Fly!!

And there's software to get rid of me now??
  18. GODS DAMN IT!!!

Someone took the name TurtleMan!! I finnaly get the chance to make him as a heroic Brute with a shovel, just like I've been planning for months, and someone got the name!!

I've sent a PM, not holding out much hope though
  19. Fan-Freaking-Tastic!!!!

Well chuffed to read this, so glad it ended well
  20. Just downloaded the Kindle app for my Android, it's actually pretty good. Very easy to use and I already have an Amazon account so I can get the books I want easily, even delivers the new Pratchett book direct to my phone on day of release, which is cool

Now I need to work out if I can download the book to my PC as well, or is just trapped on my phone forever.....

Been using them for a long time now, catching up on the classics......doesn't help me with the new Pratchett Discworld book though
  22. Hey all

Wanted to pick the brains of the people here.

I'm a MASSIVE fan of eBooks, but I'm trying to find the best site or software or service to get them with.

I want to be able to do something similar to the gaming service, Steam, whereby I create an account and can download the book as many times as I want, once I've paid for it.

Ideally, I want to be able to get books in different formats as well, so that I can transfer the book to different systems as I get them as well.

Currently I read book on my Android phone, a Sony Ericsson Arc, which is great for me, easy to use and big screen on it. I plan on going to a tablet format in the future though, once they become cheap enough.

The Android App I use is the Aldiko one, very easy to use and does the job well, but if I need to changes app for a site, I can cope with that, to a degree.

Anyone got any advice on where to look? Also, who makes the books cheaper? For instance, the new Pratchett book, Snuff, is out next month and Amazon UK have it in HB for £10, and £8.34 for the eBook, so yeah, that's great

Looking forward to hearing some words of wisdom
  23. So THAT'S who created Bad Penny!!!

I had that character for months, possibly years, before it was introduced in game!!

Give me back that name, it's integral to Coin's backstory!!!
  24. See, I said about this being a half-***** job when power customization first came out and got shouted down by almost everyone for being ungrateful and how I should be happy for what they have done and be patient, they will get round to Power Pools etc in the future.

This was before it was even released.

    I'm STILL waiting!

I hate the look of Hasten and Super-Speed but they are damn near ubiquitous, especially for me. I know builds can be made with Hasten but it's a bloody useful power that lots of people use, so why not sort it out??

Glad to see people are also wanting these things changing over. What's the point of having one of the games greatest features, the awesome costume creator, spoilt by the power pools?
  25. Tbh, I posted it here more because of the Superman connection than the disabled man being ripped off. I'd have been just as disgusted if it was anyone else, be it a non-disabled person, a child, an elderly pensioner, whatever. It's still disgusting.

I do think that someone would be so sick as to do this to someone who is so clearly vulnerable, but that's just as valid any other way.

As I said, I posted it here because of the Superman connection, trying to spread the word in the vain hopes that possibly one person on here might actually know something about it, perhaps even frequent a comic book store local to that and spread the word, hopefully even help catch the scumbag.

I agree, people get robbed everyday, but this is a more specific subject matter that is very relevant to these boards, in many ways, as evidenced by the numerous responses on here.
